IPv4/IPv6 conflict on weblogic

I have an application which is deployed on the MINA Framework.
The steps i followed were-
1. Installed weblogic
2. Created a wls domain
3. Installed application1.
4. Configured this application with wls domain.
5. Installed another application2.
6. Extend wls domain to include aplication2.
7. Run application2.
This gives me an exception -
Exception in binding the port
Caused by: java.net.SocketException: Address family not supported by protocol family: bind
Please note:
application1 by default uses Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4).
But the above exception gives an IPv6 IP address.
So the conflict is between IPv4 and IPv6.
Also, if i deploy application2 in its own WL domain(without extending the older Wl domain) then it runs properly.
So, i doubt that there is something while installing application1 changes IP address family which application2 is unable to use.
Does anyone have any idea about IP address resolving happens in the MINA framework?
Can the IP address family change in Apache Mina framework after installation of application1?

houmles wrote:I found that I can't have two gateways on one interface, but until now there's no problem.
I suspect it's a problem with that; I've noticed this problem as well.
When trying to add multiple default gateways with iproute2 (ie, `ip r a default via xxx:xxx:xxx::xxxx`) it errors with the error you've mentioned. I'm not sure if this is a kernel bug, iproute2 bug, or not a bug at all.
Having multiple default IPv4 gateways works fine.
I believe netcfg doesn't check for an existing gateway and delete it first (or use `ip r r` instead or `ip r a`) before adding the one; but I haven't checked the code so I could be wrong.
EDIT:
OK, I couldn't resist looking at the code, and it indeed does a 'dumb' addition of the gateway:
112 if [[ -n "$GATEWAY" ]]; then
113 report_debug ethernet_iproute_up ip route add default via "$GATEWAY" dev "$INTERFACE"
114 if ! ip route add default via "$GATEWAY" dev "$INTERFACE"; then
115 report_iproute "Adding gateway $GATEWAY failed"
116 fi
117 fi
I'm looking at making a patch now. Patch and bug report: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/29480

• Does Catalyst 3750G have IPv4-IPv6 translation feature ?

we developed an application with IPv4 and it is being put on IPv6 based network to talk to the client application. We have Catalyst 3750G and want to enable IPv4-IPv6 translation. Does 3750G have such feature ? If yes, how can we use it ?

I think not. Routers have that capability
When enabling communications between IPv4 <-> IPv6 you need v4-v6 Tunnels and/or translations(NAT) w/c can only be done in routers

• I need an advice in full connectivity between IPV4-IPV6 network

Hi ,
i have a network topology as attached.
as you see it has both ipv4 & ipv6
i just need an ideas here about how let all pcs (ipv4 & ipv6) to talk together based on the topology attached.

Hello Ahmed,
You can use BGP with address-family ipv4 to provide routing for ipv4 and address-family ipv6 for ipv6.
This means between your router's you will have 2 BGP peerings, one for v4 one for v6.
If you use the ipv4 address for bgp address-family ipv6, you will have to apply a route-map on neighbor to change the next hop address to the relevant ipv6 interface address.

• PIX515e dual-stack ipv4 & ipv6 over PPPoE

Hi Everyone,
In short: I am trying to get ipv4 and ipv6 over PPPoE running on my PIX515e.
Heres a bit more info about my setup and the scenario:
My internet provider (residential) has offered me a dual-stack service on my ADSL.
I get a STATIC ipv4 address, but a DYNAMIC ipv6 address. Additionally I get a STATIC ipv6 /56 prefix for my lan "if my router supports prefix delegation".
My PIX is the 515e and its running PIX 7.2(4) with ASDM 5.2.
Getting the ipv4 side of it working isnt an issue - ive configured the pppoe side of it with my username and password, and configured my outside interface (Ethernet 0) with the ipv4 address.
But I cannot figure out how to get a dynamic ipv6 address on the outside (Ethernet 0) interface.
At this stage all I care about is getting a dynamic ipv6 address on Ethernet 0. I dont care about the "lan" prefix or Prefix Delegation part of it because I figure I'll just NAT my lan ipv6 addresses out to the internet using the dyanmic ipv6 address on the outside interface.
Ive read a lot of articles and looked at a lot of examples but none quite explain what im trying to do.
I have enabled ipv6 on the outside interface - ipv6 enable
and ive looked at ipv6 address and ive found the autoconfigure option but that doesnt appear to fetch the ipv6 address from my internet provider.
I guess im expecting to see something like ipv6 address dhcp or ipv6 address pppoe
So my question is does anyone know how I can get dual-stack working on my outside interface with dynamically assigned ipv6 from pppoe.
Or do i need to update the PIX software on my device. If so, can anyone suggest which version?
Any help is greately appreciated.

I wanted to provide an update on this topic. It turns out the traffic class that I was testing with was overlapping another class's match statement, which had a much lower bandwidth percentage.
After making the corrections, it seems the IPv4 and IPv6 work very well together in the queues. And now that you can run fair-queueing per class, I'm actually impressed with how well it is working.
Now if only I could classify traffic based on the number of packets/bytes seen in netflow.... then I could shape some really nice QoS policies!

• Conflict of weblogic with jaas.jar

Hi there,
I am using weblogic6.0+sp1 for JAAS simple and SSL authentication. Sun's
implementation class com.sun.security.auth.login.ConfigFile in jaas.jar
is conflict with the Config class I implemented that extends
Configuration to parse the login policy file and return the array of
AppConfigurationEntry. If this jaas.jar gets picked up before
weblogic.jar (For some jdk version, this jar is put under the jdk's
lib/ext directory) the sun's implementation will be picked up instead of
mine and this will results in failure. I am wandering if this is a bug
or not?
Thanks,
Cathy

This has nothing to do with the class name, since both my implementation and
sun's are subclass of Configuration class. Runtime, it will pick up sun's if
jaas.jar is put in front of weblogic.jar.
Hellen Andersen wrote:
An aside related question: isn't jaas.jar always installed in lib/ext?
Otherwise, couldn't you rename your ConfigFile class so it doesn't match
Sun's?

• IPv4/ IPV6 Traffic Discrimination and Monitoring

Hi Guys
I would appreciate a lot your experiences and best practices about operating and monitoring dual stack networks in Service Provider environments. Currently we're working in a 6VPE model for Internet customers in order to provide dual stack services, but we are looking for a way that allows us discriminate and monitor both the IPv4 and IPv6 traffic separately.
Does anyone could to share his experiences, how did they were addressed?
What kind of monitoring tools have you used?
What did you do in order to guarantee a reliable monitoring strategy?
I will appreciate your support a lot.
Marcelo

Hi Russell,
I'm in the process of writing a program to do this as I've not seen anything that provides this function available.
For your wired network you should have an inventory of assets containing at least MAC addresses and the user who owns the device.
On your wireless networks you will probably be using SLAAC and I guess you must be using 802.1x in which case you will be able to identify users to MAC addresses.
Essentially you need to periodically gather (less than the age timer) the IPv6 neighbour table from your core switches (or any edge etc, if it routes), this will give you the GUA and ULA against the MAC address. If you using an type of authentication parse those logs for usernames and MAC addresses.
Stir it all together in a database and you should have timestamp, IPv6 address, MAC and user .
cheers,
Seb.

Hi Nivas,
I think that the problem you are seeing has something to do with the
placement of jaas.jar in your classpath
On WebLogic server, put jaas.jar in the classpath after weblogic.jar.
I would bet that you have it placed before weblogic.jar right now.
I don't think the exception that you're seeing right now has anything
to do with your weblogic.policy file right now, so I think it is
safe to not worry about it right now.

• How to configure DNS to support ipv4 and ipv6

I have a 2008 r2 domain controller in my lab.
i'm doing Exchange 2007, 2010 and 2013. I have mix Windows 2008 r2 servers for other applications.
i'm running into issues where i'm thinking it is time to have both IPV4 & IPV6 to run on all lab machines.
I can't get a clear picture on how to accomplish a mix environment. in the DNS administrator do I create a new "reverze lookup zone" with only the IPV6? or do I have to create a new record in the "forward lookup zone" to with both IPV4
& IPV6 which the later points to the new "reverse lookup zone".
I see a lot of internet article but little on "how to".
or on the DC should I enable the DHCP role to support the IPV6?

1. You assign an IPv6 address to the domain controller/DNS server
One method is letting this site (legitimate) create a random private IPv6 range for you:
http://www.simpledns.com/private-ipv6.aspx
For example:
fd06:fcde:8b4e:d6bd:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx:xxxx
You can configure the x's like this (you cannot leave the x's there):
fd06:fcde:8b4e:d6bd:0000:0000:0000:0001
If you close and open IPv6 properties, or do an "ipconfig /all" you'll see that the IPv6 is abbreviated as follows:
fd06:fcde:8b4e:d6bd::1
That's normal.
If you look in your forward lookup zone, you'll now see this IPv6 address (you may have to register that manually - ipconfig /registerdns - but it seemed to happen automatically for me.
So there is no need to create a separate forward lookup zone for IPv6.
OK, but what about the reverse zone?
2. Create reverse lookup
In DNS Manager (what you call administrator), right-click on reverse lookup zone, select New Zone, click, Next, Next (default values are fine) until you choose between IPv6 and IPv4. Selecft IPv6 of course.
Then enter your prefix as shown here:
That's it. The reverse lookup information is configured automatically (your prefix " backwards").
Now, unlike with the forward lookup zone, my domain controller does not seem to be registering its name in the reverse IPv6 zone: there's only the SOA and NS record.
But that's another question.
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.

Client with IPv6 internet connectivity connect to SSL VPN with IPv6, Cisco ASA outside interface with IPv6 address will receive the request.
Qus:
1. Will Cisco ASA check two factor authentication with ACS and RSA both are in IPv4 address for an IPv6 client ?
2. Once if authenticated, Cisco ASA can assign IPv4/IPv6 address pool to the client, if i prefer only IPv4 address pool and client will get IPv4 address as tunnel interface IP address. Will it work? Means IPv4 over IPv6 SSL VPN tunnel.
Thanks
Sankar

AFAIR, with SSL we support IPv4 and IPv6 assigned IP addresses, with IPsec IKEv2 we only support IPv4 addressing.
Query to AAA servers are separate process, from user<-> headend authentication flow, unless we're talking about IKEv2 with standard EAP methods.

• IPv4 to IPv6 transition thesis

Hi,
I'm doing Bachelor thesis, the subject is :"IPv4 to IPv6 Transition". I hope you give me titles of books you recommend.
Also,I'd be happy if you give me a few tips.
right now,i need a topology for each transition mechansim with the configuration commands .
and how to configure an IPv4/IPv6 host?
i've already finished CCNA exploration 1 and 2,and now i'm enrolled in a CCNA exploration 3 class.my instructor has not been trained yet on using IPv6 . so,the whole subject is new for me
i'm sorry if this message was badly written , because i'm not that good in english.
yours faithfully,

You might consider the RFC series.
We have been thinking about what we originally called "IP Next Generation" and then called "IPv6" and the requirements for a transition for about 20 years. When we started, we thought about requirements, and over time we have described methodologies and experience with those methodologies. There is ongoing work, primarily in the IETF's IPv6 Operations Working Group (). The current "received wisdom" is probably summarized in RFCs 4213 (
http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc4213.txt) and 6180 (http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc6180.txt).
Walking through that history means walking through the following. Note that many of these are pretty old, and have been replaced or updated by other documents.

• EA6300 - no ipv6 connection (ipv4 - ok)

Hi all,
I can't get the wired PC to have ipv6 connectivity throgh EA6300.
When I connect directly to the fiber modem i have both ipv4 & ipv6 connectivity.
Is this a known issue and will it be addressed in a firmware?
Additional data:
The PC is running Win 8.1 Pro.
The fiber modem is a HG865.
When I connect the PC directly to the modem trough PPPOE everything works.
I have both ipv4 & ipv6 connectivity - tested.
When I connect the PC trough EA6300 (EA6300 connected to the modem again trough PPPOE) I get only ipv4 connectivity.

Have you tried another computer? If you have the latest firmware version, I would suggest you try doing a reset and reconfiguration then check it again.

• RV220W - Trying to setup an IPv6 connection

Hi,
My ISP provides IPv6 connectivity in the form of dual stack IPv4/IPv6 with DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation. Using a Cisco IOS-based router I managed to make such a connection by using as a template the Cisco IOS configuration file that my ISP has posted as an example in the following link:
http://ipv6.otenet.gr/current-config.txt
The main point on this configuration is a PPPoE connection with:
interface Dialer46
ipv6 address autoconfig default
ipv6 enable
ipv6 dhcp client pd LAN_DHCP
interface Vlan1
description local LAN
ipv6 address LAN_DHCP ::/64 eui-64
ipv6 enable
ipv6 nd other-config-flag
ipv6 dhcp server LAN_DHCP
I am now trying to configure an RV220W router on the same network but I cannot make it establish an IPv6 connection. Perhaps I am not setting it up correctly to make it work similarly to the Cisco IOS-based router. My settings are the following:
Networking -> IPv6 ->
IP Mode - IPv4 and IPv6 Dual-Stack
IPv6 WAN - DHCPv6 + Stateless Address Auto Configuration
IPv6 LAN - IPv6 Address: fec0::1, IPv6 Prefix Length: 64, DHCP Status: Enable DHCPv6 Server, DHCP Mode: Stateless, DNS Servers: Use DNS from ISP.
Router Advertisement: Status: Enable, Advertise Mode: Unsolicited Multicast
When I check the Summary page I see that although a have a proper working IPv4 connection, the IPv6 information is the following:
WAN (Internet) Information (IPv6)
Connection Time: 0 Days 00:07:10
Connection Type: Dynamic IP (DHCP)
Connection State: Connected
IP Address:                        fe80::5a8d:9ff:fee2:f9d3/64
Gateway:                           fe80::200:ff:fe00:0
DNS Servers:
which is of course wrong.
Could someone please help me to configure this router according the Cisco IOS configuration file I linked on the top in order to have a working IPv6 connection?

So, I did a WAN packet capture to see that type of DHCPv6 packets the router sends to the ISP in order to obtain an IPv6 address and I saw that the router is sending DHCPv6 solicitation packets of type IA_NA i.e. for Identity Association for Non-temporary Address. However, most ISPs that offer a dual stack IP4/IPv6 service, they use DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation in which case the router is expected to send DHCPv6 solicitation packets of type IA_PD i.e. for Identity Association for Prefix Delegation.
Therefore, this router does not support DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation services with firmware 1.0.3.5 and as a result in practice it is only good for tunnel IPv6 connections.
Are there any plans to provide support for Prefix Delegation?

• Weblogic.jdbc.wrapper.Blob_oracle_sql_BLOB ERROR

Hi,
we have an application developed with Oracle ADF with several CRUD screens. We deploy it on Weblogic and use as database oracle10G 10.2.0.4.
On one specific screen, a delete button fails and gives following error:
ERROR: weblogic.jdbc.wrapper.Blob_oracle_sql_BLOB
Anybody who encountered a similiar problem and did you find a solution?
Cheers,
Robby

Hi. The issue is that some oracle-specific BLOB JDBC code (which
requires casting to concrete Oracle classes) is conflicting with
WebLogic's prudent and correct behavior of wrapping every
java.sql object delivered from it's WLS datasources. If you are
able to alter the relevant JDBC code, I can describe what you
can do.
