Is BT Vision Box only able to connect into TV via ...

planning on buying a posh new TV and they seem to have less scart leads connectors. Wondered if the BT Vision box comes with a different way to connect into TV or if it is scart only. thanks im retty stupid i know!

Component is used for devices which send video signals whose components are split into Y, Pb/Cb, and Pr/Cr parts. If you want to read further, then Google "component video". You do need an understanding of colour TV theory!
If a device uses component video, then a separate sound input is needed on the TV. This usually appears on RCA connectors.
Component video, if a device supports its, gives a much better picture than SCART, and is almost as good as HDMI.
Some DVD and media players have component outputs.

I am using Verizon Broadband DSL, and have used it for a few years.
Equipment:
Westell Versalink Model 327W
Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router Model WRT54G
I have a desktop (running Windows XP), and 2 laptops (1 XP, 1 Vista) that are connected wirelessly. Until recently all 3 computers have been working fine, connecting to the internet on the wireless network.
The problem is this: When any one of the computers is connected to the internet through the DSL none of the others computers is able to connect – I see the message “Connecting through WAN miniport (PPOE)…”, i.e. I am only able to connect to the internet 1 computer at a time.
As soon as I disconnect from the ‘connected’ computer (desktop or laptop) I am immediately able to successfully connect to the internet on either of the other 2 computers.
I’ve tried resetting everything – no luck.
I don’t recall having changed any of the settings and am baffled.
Any thoughts as to the problem?

#1 You must get to the network control panel on your computer.
One of the ways, for Windows XP is:
a) Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Network Connections
b) The screen will look like steps 5 and 6, on http://portforward.com/networking/static-xp.htm
For Windows Vista:
a) Go to the globe icon (start button) -> Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Manage Network Connections.
b) The screen will look like steps 5, 6, and 7, on
http://portforward.com/networking/static-vista.htm
#2 Right click on the WAN miniport (PPPOE), and remove the check mark that says Set as Default Connection.

Suggestion when only able to connect to some services when using Kerberos.

I had been having problems using Kerberos for authentication for some services. It worked fine when on a LAN and worked when I had a VPN (MS-CHAP). But when trying to connect normally, I was able to get a TGT, but often ran into issues when trying to connect to other services (e.g. IMAP / VPN). What's more, sometimes everything did work, but stopped again soon after.
My setup has one server providing all the services in question. There were several CNAMES linking the different services (e.g. ichat.mydomain, mail.mydomain etc).
I found a number of people who seemed to have similar issues, but the threads were archived so I couldn't post a reply. So I'm hoping they come across this message and it helps them.
Because of an unrelated problem, it was brought to my attention that there were some problems with the DNS records relating to my domain – not on my server, but on the net.
After some experimenting, I discovered that if I set the DNS (in System Preferences) on my client Mac to the server I was contacting most things worked.
It seems that the Kerberos system may do a reverse lookup at some point, or something similar.
When I do a "dig -x <my ip address>" I get different responses over time, and from different DNS servers. When I did "dig @<my own dns> -x <my ip address>" it always came back with the correct server name.
So perhaps the issue lies with the DNS that your machine is looking up? This would explain why it works on the lan (the DNS is probably your server) and over VPN (again your server is the DNS).
This may not be the answer to these people's problems, but if you were getting messages such as "Server not found in Kerberos database" in your logs, it may pay to check what is getting return by DNS servers outside your organisation.

All iBooks can connect to WiFi. Some have it built-in. Others need an added card. This article tells you which Macs have WiFi, and which ones need an Airport original card, and which need an Airport Extreme card:

When I open iCloud preferences in system preferences on my Mac, it prompts me to enter my appleID and password. Once entered, it just hangs...
What exactly did you do (verified your apple ID/iCloud but in a very difficult way)?

Hi,
In the Finder use the Go Menu whilst holding down the ALT key.
Select the Library that appears when you do this.
Navigate to Containers/com.apple.soagent/Data/Library/Preferences
You will notice that many of the items are Aliases (to the Originals in ~/Library/Preferences).
But there are exceptions.
Delete (Drag to Trash) the com.apple.soagent.plist and com.apple.messageshelper.AccountInfoController.plist
Restart the Mac (I have not worked out is SOAgent launches when the Mac does).
Restart Messages.
If this does not work navigate to ~/Library/Preferences
In here find and Delete com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist
This will need a Restart of the app.
You will be asked Again for your Apple ID

Vision Box only + Sky functionality

I'm currently a BT Broadband customer and I am looking for the cheapest way to access Sky Sports.
If I just get the Vision Box for a one-off £90 and then add Sky 1 and 2 for £16.99 pm, this seems to me to be the cheapest option.
My question is what finctionality does the Vision box have without subscribing to any of the packs?

All Office 2010 Applications Slow To Produce "OPEN" or "SAVE AS" Dialog Box ONLY When PC Connected To Network

Hello all,
Frustrating problem: ALL Office 2010 apps require a 45 second delay to produce an "open" or "save as" dialog box when the computer is connected to a LAN (wireless or wired, domain or workgroup). When the computer is NOT connected to a LAN (wireless or wired,
domain or workgroup), then Office 2010 "open" or "save as" dialog boxes open normally (and quickly).
I suspect a network search/survey function internal to MS Office is at fault.
This is NOT the infamous mapped network drive problem associated with Office 2007/2010. There are no mapped drives (nor have there ever been) on the PC, although there might exist a related solution. Additionally, there is no 45 second delay when opening
a file by double-clicking on the file itself which will launch the application.
Other information:
1. PC runs Windows 7 Pro 32 bit - PC is a relatively new Lenovo T400 laptop, all updates from Lenovo and MS installed, running clean and nicely otherwise, no spyware, no viruses, no previous software or hardware issues requiring assistance. Event log is
clean.
2. Absolutely fresh installation of Office 2010 Pro Plus (MS Action Pack)
3. Running Office apps in safe mode does not alter problem behavior (ie, "windword.exe /a" or use CTRL key and double-click to launch app)
4. Running Windows 7 in safe mode with networking and then subsequently testing Office apps is not possible: "license not able to validate" issue. This is a known problem and is not related to the slow dialog box response behavior.
5. A desktop PC with the same MS Office 2010 installation, same volume license key, on the same network does NOT produce this problem.
6. Full uninstall, reboot, and re-install of Office 2010 does not alleviate problem
7. Disabling ALL startup items and services (including, of course, ALL Lenovo management software) does not alleviate problem
8. SMB v2 bug is not the problem: ie, disabling mrxsmb20 service does not alleviate symptoms.
9. I have isolated "Client for Microsoft Networks", "QOS Packet Scheduler", "Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver" (and Responder), and "Printer and File Sharing for MS Networks" in the network adapter properties are NOT causing the issue.
10. Using Sysinternals Registry Monitor, I was able to determine that Office apps evaluate certain properties of your Internet Explorer settings before attempting to launch the "open" or "save as" dialog box. Altering the way intranets are detected, for
example, does not alleviate the symptoms.
11. Turning off Antivirus software (Avira Personal) does not alleviate the issue.
This issue is causing a huge loss of work efficiency. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Through all the research I have done so far and talking with a few other coworkers what the common issues that cause this are is:
1. Antivirus: disabling the antivirus is not good enough it needs to be totaly uninstalled and retested.
2. startup programs: these need to be disabled through either Safe mode with networking or the start menu or MSconfig.
3. Office addins: Disable all of them see if that helps. Then turn them back on one by one to see which addin is causing the issue.
To disable addins: 1. open up regedit and navigate to this key. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Addins and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins
Then change the LoadBehavior to 0 this will disable the addin. 3 lets it run. Since this affected only one user HKEY_LOCAL_USER might be your best bet but don't rule out the other location.
To verify there are no addins running go to the File tab>options>Add-Ins make sure nothing is listed under Active Application Add-ins.

No longer able to connect to internet via wifi....but only for my Apple products!?!?

My ipad and iphone will no longer allow internet access via wifi even though wifi is working! (laptop and PC are working fine and have had no issues) I've turned everything off/ on (including router and both iPad/ phone), I've updated to the newest OS, I've done everything...nothing is working. I have NO idea what to do. Anyone recently experiencing this?
My daughter's older iPod & iPad (1st Gen) are working no problem. As well, both of my devices are showing that there is connectivitity to wifi, and it will connect....it's simply not allowing me access to anything that requires an internet connection.
I have deleted a new app that I installed yesterday, hoping it was the issue, however there isn't any resolution. The only thing I can think to do at this point is to back up again, wipe both devices to new, and reinstall.....while hoping I don't reinstall the same problem.
Suggestions?! Of course Apple is closed when I called.... :-(

Why is the "open-in" drop box only able to show 10 Apps?

I would like Apple to increase the number of Apps I can see in the "open-in" drop down box. The limit of 10 is not enough. I have a number of Apps that can open PDF files, however, I only use goodreader. Every time I upgrade good reader, another App slides into number 10 and I have to delete several Apps, goodreader moves up the list and then I have to reinstall the Apps I deleted! It's a real pain.
WHy would anyone of any intelligence impose a limit?
I have spent hours on Apples website but I cannot find any email address to send suggestion, can anyone help?

IPhone 5 only able to connect 1 wifi access point

My phone will successfully connect to any access point I attempt to connect to. However, if my phone has ever connected to another access point, I must explicitly forget the previous access point in order to connect to another one. If I attempt to connect to a new access point without first forgetting the other access point, it will continually reject my password as invalid for the new access point. As soon as I either forget the other access point (or perform iOS network reset operation), I can connect fine to the new access point.
This is hugely frustrating. Any ideas?

Only Able to Connect to Google Chrome and Opera on Internet

I'm running 10.9.5 on a Mid-2011 iMac. The problem started last night after I uninstalled Norton Security for Mac. Since then although I am connected to the internet through my ethernet connection, I'm unable to access the internet except through Google Chrome and Opera. No luck with Safari, Firefox, Apple Mail App Store, iTunes or Microsoft Outlook for Mac. My cable company, Time-Warner Cable, was unable to help.
Here are the steps I've taken, since last night, all without success
Backed up to 3 or 4 previous backups in Time Machine;
Rebooted the cable modem;
Turned off the firewall;
Shut down my iMac and pulled out and put the ethernet cable back in and then restarted;
Flushed DNS using the app "DNS Flusher";
Manually changed the DNS Servers in the Advanced subsection of the Ethernet section in System Preferences;
Started my Mac in the Safe Mode;
Created a separate Administrative Account in the User and Group section in System Preferences
Some of the above steps I tried more than once and at this point am out of ideas.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I've used the X2 and its works fine with Whatsapp and Google Play.
Also do try a different SIM card on the phone.
Also for the Security App, you can actually add the Whatsapp and Facebook or those app that you trusted into "Trusted App".

Settings>Wi-Fi>tap little arrow on right of network.

BT Vision box and infinity

Hi
We are considering changing to BT Infinity from normal BT broadband.
We currently have a black BT Vision Box (not yet updated) connected to an upstairs hub using the plug in black powerline adapters.
We paid about £60 to buy the box outright a couple of years ago so don't pay any monthly fee for Vision. We do occasionally 'buy' a film and the cost of this is added to our monthly BT bill. As this dosn't happen very often there is no ongoing cost to us of using the Vision Box for BBC iplayer or for recording, rewinding live TV etc
Would this change if we upgraded to infinity as I can only see the option of about £5 a month to use a vision box

Not in the least. There is no problem at all in upgrading to Infinity it will not affect your PAYG option.
