Is Clean Script that bad?

I've deleted the application for the trial version of Photoshop CS3 and have been meaning to use the Clean Script, but I haven't backed up my system like the script page says I should.
Is it a good idea to back it up? Or, if you have other ways for me to uninstall Photoshop CS3 (for Mac) feel free to tell me!

Its always a good idea to back up. but if you run the script on low the first choice you should be fine.

Help needed with CS 4 Clean Script - Windows XP

Trying to use the CS4 clean script after having major problems with an install of CS4. The readme file directs me to download and run the Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, however that is the only direction given. Does this mean I am supposed to run the windows installer clean up and remove all the adobe products? Or does the CS 4 Clean Script just need the software installed and the CS4 clean script uses it? I'm unsure of what to do in the "run" process of MS Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.
Any help would be appreciated. THis install has been a nightmare, and I'm hoping that the clean script will solve my problems.

Script that deletes all the data in the DB

Somebody has or know a script that delete all the data (but not the tables) of the database???? I have dummy data and know I need the tables clean of data.

You could truncate all the tables with the following commandTRUNCATE TABLE <table_name>;This will delete all the data in the table while keeping the table structure, contraints, indexes, triggers, etc. intact so they wont have to be rebuilt. All foreign keys must be disabled to use the TRUNCATE command.

A replacement for Clean Script CS3 and CS4?

Adobe Clean Script works on Microsoft Clean up Utility. Recently MS have discontinued this utility and Adobe's Clean Script no good without that. Most of the uninstallation, installation errors can be solved by running Clean Script. Without MS utility, is Adobe coming up with their own utility ?

Using 3rd party binary in script that is run as job

Hi all,
I have several scripts to do various tasks with IIS logs we receive from all our various web servers. One script unzips logs, another logparses to grab a few fields then sftp to a 3rd party for analysis, another will encrypt the original zip files
in prep for ftp to 3rd party, another will ftp to that 3rd party, and yet another will analyse the logs with our in house analytiscs application.
I want to have a master script that will run these other scripts as jobs so that it will control when to start certain scripts based on the state of the jobs. It all seemed to work great as I was setting up test jobs, until I added '3rd' party executables
like 7-zip, ftp.exe, winscp, etc... The jobs would just go to failed state when they hit the executables.
That's not my current problem though as I found out that if I used the
-windowstyle hidden option for start-process then everything ran as expected, that is until I wanted to log output from the 3rd party app. FTP for example.
I tried this:

However, asking powershell to redirect output of a hidden window was probably like asking someone to cover their eyes and read a book and it let me know it.
I have tried without using -windowstyle hidden and not having any luck. I want to capture the output of the ftp commands so that I can make sure the file was transferred successfully. If I run the script without -windowstyle hidden and not as
a job it works, and I can test the output. I really want to be able to run this script as a job AND get the output of the ftp to a file... advice?

If you don't want an EEM policy, then don't use any of the EEM constructs. Instead, all you need is this:

I just downloaded and instaled firefox 4. Now, everytime I institute a command I get a po[p-up from Java script that tells me to uninstal set. I cannot go on untin I press ok and then I am good for one more command and it starts with the pop-up again.

I'm not even sure if this is an extension or plug-in and all I can tell you is what I have already stated. I can only make one command at a time and after each one I get a pop-up from Java script that says uninstal set. I must depress ok to move on, but only for one more command and it starts over again. This also happened when I tried to instal firefox 4 a couple months ago and I deleted the program and went back to an earlier version.

Script that worked in CS does not work in CS4 - multiple open page, print , pdf export and close

I had a script that worked great for me in Indesign CS. But now does not work in CS4. Anyone knows what needs to be done to make it work again ?
When I drop folder with indesign files on top of this script:
1. opens first page
2. turns specific layer on
3. prints using preset
4. exports using preset
5. close without saving
6. next page

First thing I noticed is the interaction level is set off. If you comment out this line
set user interaction level to never interact
you might be able to pinpoint the exact error -- ID will display a standard "failed" dialog, hopefully showing the line that it fails on.
A quick question: the script assumes two presets in your InDesign: one for print ("letter size") and one for PDFs ("pdf preset name"):

I can restore the artwork (and make my apple tv see the movie exists as well) by going into the movie library and clicking on each movie by hand, slecting get info, and then selecting enter. Now doing this 10 times in 20 days was fun and all BUT I would really like to automate the process so everytime itunes screws it up I can fix it easier.

A script that captures the coordinates of the mouse clicks and saves them into a file

I'm trying to create a cartoon taking a movie (I've chosen blade runner) as base. I've got the real movie and I've exported all the pictures using VirtualDUB. Now I have a lot of images to modify. I would like to modify the actors faces with the faces generated by Facegen modeller. I'm thinking how to make the whole process automatic because I have a lot of images to manage. I've chosen to use Automate BPA,because it seems the best for this matter. I'm a newbie,so this is my first attempt using Adobe Photoshop and Automate BPA. I wrote a little script. It takes a face generated with Facegen modeller and tries to put it above the original actors faces. But it doesn't work very good and I'm not really satisfied,because the process is not fully automated. To save some time I need to write a script that captures the coordinates of the mouse when I click over the faces and that saves them into a file,so that Automate BPA can read these coordinates from that file and can put the face generated with Facegen Modeller above the original face. I think that Automate BPA is not good for this matter. I think that two coordinates are enough,X and Y. They can be the coordinates of the nose,because it is always in the middle of every face. In the last scene of the video you will see the script asking to input the X and the Y coordinates of the nose. This request is time consuming. For this reason I want to write a script that captures automatically the coordinates of the mouse clicks. The only thing to do should be click over the nose and the script should make the rest. As "c.pfaffenbichler" suggested here : http://forums.adobe.com/thread/775219, I could explore 3 ways :
1) use the Color Sampler Tool’s input with a conventional Photoshop Script.
2) use After Effects would provide a better solution.
3) Photoshop’s Animation Panel might also offer some easier way as it might be possible to load two movies (or one movie and one image) and animate the one with the rendered head in relation to the other.

How can I autorun a script that will process an XML file on open?

I am using Frame 11. I have a registered script that looks for event notification Constants.FA_Note_PostOpenXML. When this event fires, the script is supposed to examine the root element (so I only edit appropriate XML files), then make some edits to the file. Specifically, I want to be able to delete empty pages, remove room for side heads, and fix table formatting (such as left indent, which I can't directly access, apparently, in the EDD or R/W rules). The snippet of code that starts doing the work follows:

I then check the root element name, and if it matches, I make some changes. This code works fine when run manually. But, when run as a registered script, the app.ActiveDoc object is invalid, and there is no structure to edit. (I added debug line if(!doc.ObjectValid()){alert("not valid");}, which is not included above.) It appears that the Constants.FA_Note_PostOpenXML event fires as soon as the XML file is opened, but BEFORE Frame actually reads it.
Does anyone have any recommendations on how to work around this? Is there another event I could use instead of Constants.FA_Note_PostOpenXML? Is there any other way to automatically manipulate an XML file when it loads?

The Notify event receives four parameters: note, object, sparam, and iparam. For the event you are using, object should be the document object of the FrameMaker document being opened. So, you should be able to use this:

I have a generic hot backup script that runs well in our 8i environment where I source the username and password for SYS from a secured txt file. However I could not get the script to work in our recently installed 9.2.0 environment.
Below is an extract of the hot backup script:

In need of a script that will update tv shows on external hard-drive

Hi everyone I have a really specific question about scripts. Okay, so my dad regularly downloads various TV shows and movies etc
and I have a neighbor named Darian who once a week gives me an external hard drive and I update a whole bunch of TV shows. Now my problem is that each time he gives me the hard drive, it takes me about 20-30 mins to update all of the TV shows because they
are in different TV show folders, I was wondering if it is possible to make a script that when run would automatically copy all of the shows onto Darian's hard drive and then all I have to do is copy the movies which is pretty quick, here's another problem,
all of the movies and tv shows are not on my computer but on my dad's computer, so when I copy the stuff I have to access his pc through the network and I always have to type his username and password to access his pc, so if someone could tell me if it is
possible, the code I need and how to run it or pretty much any help, I would be very gratful, thanks in advance (:

I also believe that it would be good for you to get a book on how to use Windows in a home network. All of what you ask can be done without any scripts. It is all part of basic WIndows and is designed to make this possible and easy for home users
but you stil need to study how the system works.

Script that works in 8.1.7 does not work in 9.2.0

I have a generic hot backup script that runs well in our 8i environment where I source the username and password for SYS from a secured txt file. However I could not get the script to work in our recently installed 9.2.0 environment.
Below is an extract of the hot backup script:

As per the extract above,
in our 8.1.7 environment,
(1) the command CONNECT_STRING=`${HOME}/admin/Util/syspass.sh sys $DBNAME`
will result in CONNECT_STRING=sys/xxxxxx@<sid>
(2) the command SQLPLUS="${ORACLE_HOME}/bin/sqlplus -s ${CONNECT_STRING}"
will result in SQLPLUS=/usr/oracle/product/8.1.7/bin/sqlplus -s sys/xxxxxx@<sid>
(3) and when issue $SQLPLUS <<-EOF
it connects fine and execute the procedure successfully.
in Oracle 9.2.0,
(1) the command CONNECT_STRING=`${HOME}/admin/Util/syspass.sh sys $DBNAME`
works fine with result same as in 8.1.7 - CONNECT_STRING=sys/xxxxxx@<sid>
(2) the command SQLPLUS="${ORACLE_HOME}/bin/sqlplus -s ${CONNECT_STRING}"
works fine with result SQLPLUS=/usr/oracle/product/9.2.0/bin/sqlplus -s sys/xxxxxx@<sid>
(3) However, when issue $SQLPLUS <<-EOF returns an error:
ERROR:
ORA-28009: connection to sys should be as sysdba or sysoper
How can I fix that??
Is it because of the username/password structure (sys/xxxxxx@<sid>)??
I would like to keep such username/password format if possible.
I have also tried to hard coded the username/password for variable SQLPLUS as:
SQLPLUS="/usr/oracle/product/9.2.0/bin/sqlplus -S '/ as sysdba'"
But it still doesn't work when issue $SQLPLUS, it returns the following:

My first comment is that even though you are using a secure encrypted text file, putting the SYS password on the command line can make the password available to anyone on the server who can perform a ps command:

Consider putting the connect string in the SQL script:

Starting in Oracle 9 (others will correct me if I am wrong) you cannot connect to the sys account without specifying as SYSDBA or SYSOPER.
My testing (9.2.0.3) resulted in your ORA-1013 using "sys/password@dbname as sysdba". Using "sys/password as sysdba" works just fine. I seem to remember if you want to use @dbname, you will need to use password file authentication instead of OS authentication.
My suggestion -if possible - is to use plain "connect / as sysdba" in your SQL Script and have ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID set correctly in your environment (do it in ${HOME}/BACKUP/${DBNAME}.env) :
sqlplus /nolog <<-EOF
connect / as sysdba;
var numfiles number;
BEGIN
SELECT count(*) into :numfiles
FROM dba_data_files a, dba_data_files b
WHERE a.file_name != b.file_name
