  • Aggregated Adobe Captivate Video in Flash Media Server

    Hey,
    Has anyone attempted to implement a captivate video into Flash Media Server?
    I specifically need to know if an aggregated Captivate video will work in Flash Streaming Server. The reason I am not sure that it will is because there are multiple .swf files that an Aggregated video must communicate with and I wonder if that will cause any issues.
    Please let me know if you've run into any problems, if this works, or if you have any other information.
    Thanks!

    So an Aggregated Captivate Video is basically a compilation of several other Captivate Videos. To see what I mean, open up Captivate
    go to File --> New Project-->Aggregator Project.
    Choose the .swf files of published projects that you want to run together as a single video (aggregated .swf).
    Then, publish the Aggregator Video and you will generate a .swf file that plays all the ones you selected previously.
    So basically I am worried that Flash Media Server won't work because the main video file (the aggregated .swf) uses the component .swf files to play.
    Any thoughts?

  • MSI-256 - Fast Forward/Rewind Issue...

    Folks, I'm using the MSI Mega Stick 256 with the latest firmware.
    All is cool, except for the fast forward/rewind function. I'm listening to the .Net Rocks radio show. The show is long - up to two hours. So I need to fast forward to get to where I was last at. But when I do it moves slowly forward or backward for a minute before hitting turbo mode jumping 2 minutes for each tick. The problem is it is too slow for the first minute and way too fast fast after that. I often am jumping forward and backwards several times to get to where I want to be.
    It really need to use a logarithmic speed increase so that I can judge better when to stop fast forwarding.
    That's my #1 issue.
    Also it would be nice to have it resume playing from the point in the last file it was playing. And it would be nice to see on screen the current time display.
    Cheers!

    Here's a thing:
    unfortunately, it's not the iPod touch/iPhone 2.0 software that is causing this... It's actually the video encoding
    iPod touch/iPhone 2.0 has new playback system that is causing a video encoded with 3rd party encoding software (not the one from Apple, but other software's iPod compatible h.264 encoding system such as iSquint) to go haywire when fastfowarding or rewinding a video....
    I had issues with some of my home movies, encoded via iSquint, playing on my iPod after upgrading to 2.0, but after re-encoding it with Quicktime Pro, (yes, I converted the ORIGINAL file to h.264 via Quicktime Pro) all my video playback smoothley.
    So, it's not a software issue, it's the video encoding issue....

  • How to achieve Fast-forward/rewind functions when using VideoDisplay

    I use "VideoDisplay" instance for progressive download of
    videoes from a server. Is anyone know how to add
    fast-forward/rewind functions using Actionscript 3 with
    VideoDisplay object?
    or is there anyway to do it when playing videoes through
    progressive download?
    Thanks in advance.

    Matt,
    Thank you very much for your help. The thread is quite
    interesting.
    I can only make the video jumping forward/backward at the
    step of 10 seconds by changing VideoDisplay's "playheadTime"
    property. When I set the step down to 1 second,
    the video is "frozing", and the playheadTime is going 1
    second forward/backward, then return back to where it is, and going
    1 second forward/backward, then return back to wheare it is again,
    and repeats forever.
    For the FLVPlayback class, it is not available in Flex
    builder 3, why?
    Thanks again,
    Regards,
    Fan

  • Fast Forward / Rewind button dead

    I just bought my nano less than 24 hours ago, and I can no longer use my fast forward / rewind buttons.
    Yes, I know the other way of fast forwarding/rewinding, but that's not the point.
    Any suggestions? Or should I just take it back to the store for an even exchange / refund if possible

    A good first step in many problems of this nature would be a soft reset by holding the select and menu button till it rebouts and than if no change after that to restore with the ipod updater. http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60944 http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/tutorial/ipgettingstartedt16.html

  • Use of remote to fast forward/rewind

    I've got movies that I've converted from DVD's and when I play them I want to fast forward rewind, but the behavior of the remote is strange. It seems it I hit it once, I go to the next chapter, if I hold it down it fast forwards, then drops back to normal speed. I can't find any documentation on how this is supposed to work. Can someone tell me where to find some better documentation?

    Welcome to the  Discussion forums.
    If you press and release 'advance' while playing, the movie will advance to the next chapter.
    If the movie isn't chaptered this action will advance it 1/10th (or is it 1/20th) of the movies duration.
    If you press and release 'advance' while paused, the movie will advance 10 seconds.
    If you press advance and hold, the movie will fast forward.
    If you press advance and hold, even longer the movie will fast forward even faster.
    There are 3 fast forward speeds.
    These rules apply to rewind as well.
    Note however that the movie needs to have loaded enough to jump to the appropriate places, if it hasn't there may well be a delay while it loads the appropriate chapter or whatever. If you keep pressing while it is loading the appropriate segment you may well confuse it and yourself. Try to let the blue line reach the end before giving the next command.
    Movies with lots of chapters respond much better to these commands since the actions are pretty much dependant on loading chapters.
    You may find that using FF and RW are not as responsive immediately after starting a movie, but work really well after you have watched it for a while, how much depends on how long the chapters are, how good streaming is and how long you have been watching.
    Movies without chapters aren't a problem, movies with many chapters are better, movies with one chapter are an absolute nightmare.
    Hope this helps.

  • IPhone iPod fast forward/rewind scrollbar missing

    I have lost the fast forward/rewind scrollbar in my iPod. It was there yesterday, and I don't remember changing any settings that may have altered this. How can restore the fast forward/rewind scrollbar in my iPod so that I can fast forward/rewind the tracks I am listening too?

    Just tap center of the screen to make the scrollbar (and lyrics, when added) re-appear.

  • How to add fast forward - rewind functionality using flvplayback in as3

    hello,
    i am using flvplayback (dynamically add from as3), now to add fastforward - rewind functionality in it.
    Thanks,
    Vishal Parekh

    The docs say the inBufferSeek is intended for "Flash Media Server 3.5.3 and Flash Player 10.1" or higher and does not work in AIR3.0 for iOS. Do you meet those requirements? They call that protocol RTFMP.
    The doc also explains that when inBufferSeek=true, and you seek() or step(), an event is dispatched if it was successful. You should see if these events fire.
    From the docs:
    When inBufferSeek=true and a call to NetStream.seek() is successful, the NetStatusEvent info.description property contains the string "client-inBufferSeek".
    When a call to NetStream.step() is successful, the NetStatusEvent info.code property contains the string "NetStream.Step.Notify".
    If you don't see those events, you know you have an issue.

  • Flash Media Server X-Forwarded-For

    Hello Everybody
    I need to find how to implement 'X-Forwarded-For' for Flash Media Server. Right now the problem is that the flash media server is thinking that my routers internal IP is what my external users has as external IP. So when I look into my log I can see access from 192.168.1.2 and not from the true address that is 87.72.50.50.
    How can I fix this problem? If X-Forwarded-For not supported what can I use then?
    Thanks!

    Hi
    As I understand it, Flash Media Server is more for the deployment of video.
    Have you tried Wallaby to convert your files? You'll need to export for Flash Professional (from InDesign CS5 or greater) then use the Wallaby converter from there to get lovely HTML5 goodness.
    Wallaby is on Adobe Labs: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/wallaby/
    It is an experimental technology, but surely worth a go?

  • Flash Media Server 3 / FlashPioneer Video Chat

    Just recently, I purchased and installed
    'FlashPioneerVideoChat'...
    I decided to use Flash Media Server 3 (developer addition)
    for the local server. The problem is you can't login to the FMS
    Server from the client end although all other communication aspects
    work fine. When a connection is made the login starts but doesn't
    open the application, it just keeps running. The Client side has
    been debugged and tested so that points to the Flash Server and
    whatever settings have to be made and/or code added to what file?
    Could someone please point me in the right direction, Thank
    you much ...

    Hi, but doesn't the linux version work on a mac?
    I'm a bit confused here.
    I currently shoot video on a Canon mini dv camera and edit in Apple imovie.
    Convert to Apple Quicktime and then import into Flash 8 video encoder.
    I ftp the clips upto a flash server, from my mac and upload the playlist to my website host
    using Flash 8.
    Don't tell me i've now got to get one of those dreadful PC thingies to complete the loop,
    surely Adobe didn't invent this wonderful piece of software so it could run from a PC?
    Or did they?

  • Playing video from a flash media server

    We are encoding live video feed using Flash Live Media Encoder and publishing it using Flash Media Server. Is there any documentation on how I can put this publishing point on a website running on IIS7?

    Sorry - but not very clear what you are trying to achieve here - can you please elaborate what you want to do?

  • Live Streaming video and Flex2(3?) + Flash Media Server?

    I've seen alot of topic on how to create video sites for
    clips, etc. with Flex and Flash Media Server, but how about live
    streaming video, like a concert or a seminar. I can't find any
    information on this at all, could anyone point me in the right
    direction?

    What you need is grab video/sound form camera/mic, publish it
    on FMS and let the other clients play it. In a few steps:
    // get camera and mic
    var cam:Camera = Camera.getCamera(); // get default camera
    var mic:Microphone = Microphone.getMicrophone(); // get
    default mic
    // if you have VideoDisplay, for monitoring
    videoDisplay.attachCamera(cam);
    // create new RTMP connection to FMS/your app
    var nc:NetConnection = new NetConnection();
    // new stream should be create *after* nc has connected, not
    before
    // so this is executed after the below nc.connect() succeeds
    nc.attachEventListener(Event.CONNECT, function(){
    var ns:NetStream = new NetStream();
    ns.attachCamera(cam);
    ns.attachMicrophone(mic);
    ns.publish("streamname", "live"); // or "record" if you want
    to live+rec
    // connect to default instance of app 'appname' on your FMS
    nc.connect("rtmp://fms.ip.address/appname");
    If you're using Flex2 and FMS2 (the latest FMS is 3), you
    might need to
    cuange the connection encoding to AMF0 (which is what FMS2
    uses) in order for this to work.
    Hope this helps; I've written it from my head so it probably
    has mistakes, but it's the general workflow; the docs in the
    language reference for specific functions mentioned here will also
    help.

  • Very basic question: Flash Media Server vs. embedding flash video

    I'm hoping this is a quick easy question to answer:
    What is the difference between Flash Media Server and simply
    using a freeware Flash media player (like Flowplayer
    http://flowplayer.org/) that
    uses XML playlists to embed your Flash videos on a website?
    What are the advantages to Flash Media Server and how does
    something like Flowplayer not address issues that FMS can?
    Thanks in advance!
    Erik

    In a nutshell flowplayer delivers the video through your web
    browser. It does this via http protocol (port 80) and progressive
    download on any web server
    Progressive download finds the video on the server and plays
    it back through the player as it is being downloaded. 2 important
    things to take from this are 1, the video is being downloaded to
    the clients hard drive, at the end of the playback they will have a
    copy of your video that they can do whatever they like to and
    repost it somewhere else. 2, It plays back as it downloads, meaning
    if I'm viewing a 10 minute video from your site and want to skip
    ahead to the middle or end I have to wait for the whole video to
    download before viewing those segments. Your web host by the way
    will love you for progressive download because it will appear as
    though your transfer rate has gone through the roof. Once the
    request for the video is made there is no turning back, the client
    gets the whole thing whether they watch it or not.
    Flash media server uses the rtmp protocol. This protocol is
    an open socket protocol through port 1935. This is a two way street
    essentially. When the user views a video using FMS they basically
    get only enough of the video to keep the connection open and
    satisfy the required buffer to assure clean playback. The bytes of
    info that carry the video only go to the users memory, not the hard
    drive. This allows the user to jump back and forth around in the
    movie without having to wait for the whole thing to download.
    Hope that helps.
