Is it possible to deploy an EAR to a Netweaver AS without restarting the AS
The application has been designed to use multiple Java Resource bundles that contain various messages and properties that are updated quite often. The Resource Bundles have been separated into separate SCAs so that they can be deployed separate from other parts of the application. Is it possible to deploy the EARs contained within these SCAs without restarting the Java AS?
We are working with NWDI 7.1 deploying to Java 1.5 running on zLinux
Hi,
That should be no problem at all. Any machine with or without NI software can use an FTP client to transfer files to and from an RT target such as CompactRIO.
You should be able to build the executable on the development machine, transfer it via USB drive to another machine and then use FTP software to transfer the file from there. You'll just need the IP address of the target and login information.
For more information on FTP transfer with or without MAX to RT targets, see the following KB article:
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/4DCF9D581C491E9F8625711B005FA539?OpenDocument
I hope this helps, please don't hesitate to reply with more questions on the subject.

Is it possible to disable your apple ID from a phone, without having the phone?
My mom's phone is set up with my apple id... I'm away at college, and my ipod is set with my apple id. I'm not trying to have her have access to my photostream and she keeps on getting the messages I send. Is it possible to disable my account from the active places its set up on? Without having her phone with me right now
Have her sign out of the Apple ID on the device and sign in with her Apple ID.

Possible to create a second handle on a point without moving the first one?
Hello again,
Just had a question about something that often drives me crazy. Sometimes when I'm modifying an object (especially text that has been turned into outlines for logos etc) There are points on the path that I want/need to remove. Many of the times the points I'm removing had part of the curve that made the path look nice and smooth. For some reason Illustrator likes to create two points overlapping each other with a handle extending in opposite directions for each instead of one point with two handles...
In the cases where I have a point on a path with only one handle, whether it overlaps another point or not, is there a way to create a new handle on the opposite side where a handle doesn't exist without moving the handle that is already there? I hate fiddling with the path for 10 minutes afterwards trying to get everything back into the same position again. I would like to be able to drag out a new handle while locking the old handle in place, but the initial behavior of the convert anchor point tool seems to be to get rid of the old existing handle and recreate two new handles which resets everything.
Is there a way around this? A tool behavior option or maybe even a different tool that will let me just add the one handle to the point that is missing without moving or deleting the existing handle on that point? If it matters I'm using Illustrator CS5.5. Thanks for any help in advance! Thanks for the responses guys! Unless someone comes along with a completely native Illustrator solution I think the Pathscribe tool is what I'm looking for. The unify command in that other post sounds like just the thing for the randomd weirdness Illustrator does when you convert text to outlines etc. and I'll probably mostly use that method for the overlapping points that are created in those case. I would say close to 50% of the time though I need to add a handle to a point that isn't overlapping like where a letter shape curves on one side but is straigh on the other. I guess a good example of that would maybe tip of the "v" shape in stylized or script fonts, they often have a straigh side and curved side. Sometimes it's also me because I'll go with a more straight line concept for a portion of the letter shapes and then change my mind back again, by which time I have removed some of the handles that I want to put back. It sounds like VectorScribe will do exactly what I want the way I want it and save me a lot of time having to zoom way in to get the fine control I need to restore the paths orginial curve.
All in all a pretty solid solution between the two. I'll have to pick up VectorScribe and will use unify where applicable. I don't understand though why this isn't something that Adobe hasn't made a native provisioin for? Seems there would be many times while making a design that you might want to change your mind without having to completely redraw the entirety of a curve, especially if you're doing an illustration from scratch. I thought there had to be a native solution and I was just somehow missing it completely... maybe they don't want to step on the 3rd party vendor's toes who have made plug-ins to deal with this sort of thing? Illustrator has been around a looong time now, seems like they would have come across this more than a few times... maybe I'm just not creating illustrations using the "proper" methods. -
Hi,
Is it possible to deploy an EAR/JAR created using JwsCompile to any J2EE container?
Ideally, I would like to make use of the features that are only provided by WebLogic
Workshop, like State Management, Callbacks too. If possible, what are the steps
involved?
There is an example for interoperability included in the samples that demonstrates
the use of a WebLogic Workshop web service from an ASP.NET web service, participating
in a conversation and accepting a callback. Is it possible to do the same using
a normal C# windows or webforms app instead of using an ASP.NET web service? So,
I would like to access the WebLogic workshop generated web service with state
management and callbacks from a C# windows app.
Thanks in anticipation,

Deploying an ear file in Sun Web Server
I have an ear file that we use to deploy to weblogic. Is it possible to deploy an ear file to Sun WEb Server 6.0? Instead of deploying the war files one-by-one?
If yes, what are the steps?
Thanks.
BethNo, Sun ONE Web Server does not support ear files; ear files are typically the domain of J2EE application servers.

When deploying an ear file the status is not loaded
I have installed Oracle application server 10g on a Linux CentOS 4.6 server.
When I went to deploy an ear file, it was a success; however, the status in the application at OC4J:home indicates "Not Loaded" and auto start is true. I have searched every where and cannot find the cause of this problem.
The development server on a windows machines works fine when the same file is deplyoed.
Does anyone know what might be the cause. Is there something that I have to configure that I am not aware of?
Any help would be appreciated. Been working on this for two days.
TIA
MikeHi, thanks for the response. I have over 20 EJBs in my ear file. I tried to use the verifier and here is the message that I am getting once I tried to deploy my ear file.
Error
Deployment Error -- Error while running ejbc -- Fatal Error from EJB Compiler -- -- Failed to load deployment descriptor for: account cause: Error parsing J2EE-specific application deployment descriptor: Element type "application" is not declared.
I checked my application.xml and it looks fine to me. please help. -
Ever-expanding file w/ "Deploy to EAR file"
If I don't delete any pre-existing EAR file in JDeveloper prior to choosing "Deploy to EAR file" for my application, JDeveloper seems to include the existing EAR file in the new EAR file, such that my EAR file grows with each deployment each time, from 60K to 120K to 240K to ... 10, 20 megabytes, etc. I can only get a clean "deploy to ear file" (chosen from right-clicking on the .deploy file in the Navigator) if I first delete the existing ear file. Is there a way to get JDeveloper to not do this, in case I forget to delete from disk first? Thanks.
I am exporting using the default settings for QT conversion for Broadband high quality. I didn't mess with any settings other than that. Any ideas?

Is it possible that you can send me a copy of your original 10.1.2 project which contains these diagrams so that I can take a look? The diagrams should open fine in 10.1.3.0.4.
My email address is [email protected], if you could zip up your project and then change the .zip file extension to .zap to get it through the email server.

10.3 Deploying same EAR on both admin server &managed :server jndi in use
Hypotehetical question but is it possible to deploy the same EAR file (some minor differneces) on both Admin server and not have an issue with jndi naming.

>Hi Chandra,
One of the reason for this problem could be that
your LDAP server has got corrupted. To verify that
if possible, try to deploy this in any other
instance of application server pointing to a
different LDAP.
Another reason could be, problem with your
build.xml file. Did you build this myapp.ear
from scratch or did you use the build.xml from
one of our sample application?
If you have used one of our sample application
build.xml, there is a high possibility that
you might not have changed the name of your
application in one of the entries.
Thank you -

instance of application server pointing to a
different LDAP.
Another reason could be, problem with your
build.xml file. Did you build this myapp.ear
from scratch or did you use the build.xml from
one of our sample application?
If you have used one of our sample application
build.xml, there is a high possibility that
you might not have changed the name of your
application in one of the entries.

Deploy an EAR and an external ADFlib
I have an ADF project (in JDev 11.1.1.3) with it's respective EAR file. I have also some ADFlibs and JARs. All my project works OK (deploying it to Weblogic) but when re-deploying the project the ADFlibs and JARs are also re-deployed, maybe due to the EAR assembly and dependences.
My question is:
Is possible to only re-deploying the project's EAR file without re-deploying the other ADFlibs and JARs, and without losing the EAR's dependences??? If possible, how can I should do it????
Thanks. We had the similar requirement in our project:-
Take a look at the following post for the required inputs:

Deploy given EAR file having application.xml and change context-root
hi
Please consider deploying a given EAR file on WebLogic Server 10.3.5 (part of JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0) and changing the context-root for its web-module.
For example an EAR file with only a web-module (ReviewContextRootFirstApp.ear [1]) or an EAR file with a web-module and an ejb-module (ReviewContextRootSecondApp.ear [2]).
Given documentation appendix B section "context-root" [3] saying
"... A context-root setting in application.xml takes precedence over context-root setting in weblogic.xml. ..."
and documentation section "Typical Deployment Configuration Workflows" [4] saying
"Oracle does not support using a deployment plan to change the context-root in an application.xml file. However, if an application is deployed as a library, you can either change the context-root through an weblogic-application.xml file or use the deployment plan to change the context-root in an weblogic-application.xml file. "
Some observed behaviour:
- scenario (sc1) : deploy ReviewContextRootFirstApp.ear without deployment plan, results in context-root "/rcrfaweb" (as in application.xml)
- scenario (sc2) : deploy ReviewContextRootFirstApp.ear with deployment plan fa-plan.xml (tries to configure "/rcrfaweb11"), results in context-root "/rcrfaweb" (as in application.xml)
- scenario (sc3) : deploy ReviewContextRootSecondApp.ear without deployment plan, results in context-root "/rcrsaweb" (as in application.xml)
- scenario (sc4) : deploy ReviewContextRootSecondApp.ear with deployment plan sa-plan.xml (tries to configure "/rcrsaweb21"), results in context-root "/rcrsaweb" (as in application.xml)
The blog post "Defining the context root of a web application in Oracle WebLogic server" [5] by Silviu Leahu in its section "Defining the context root in deployment plan" suggests to
"Remove the META-INF/application.xml DD from the EAR"
- scenario (sc5) : remove application.xml from ReviewContextRootFirstApp.ear (e.g. using Ant target "remove.application.xml.from.ear") and deploy with deployment plan fa-plan.xml, results in context-root "/rcrfaweb11" (as in fa-plan.xml)
- scenario (sc6) : remove application.xml from ReviewContextRootSecondApp.ear (e.g. using Ant target "remove.application.xml.from.ear") and deploy with deployment plan sa-plan.xml, results in context-root "/rcrsaweb21" (as in sa-plan.xml)
One could expect that using a deployment plan (like in scenario's (sc2) and (sc4)) would allow to configure/change the context-root, whithout having to make changes to the EAR file to make this possible. (Somewhat like "Figure 4-2 Single Deployment Plan Workflow")
Only in scenario's (sc5) and (sc6) I see something close to what I would like to achieve, but there the application.xml file has been removed from the EAR file.
So ...
- (q1) Is it impossible to change the context-root at deploy-time for a web-module in a given EAR file that includes an application.xml file, without changing the EAR file?
- (q2) Is working with EAR files that don't have an application.xml file a supported approach (to change the context-root at deploy-time)?
Seems like a simple goal, but I must be missing something that is required to achieve it.

You can use deployment plans in order to change the context-root ...That is what I tried and describe in scenario's (sc2), (sc4), (sc5) and (sc6) in this forum thread.
Because the application.xml file (in the "given EAR file"), added by JDeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 when deploying to an EAR file, doesn't have id attributes on its application/module elements, I first tried a different XPath expression:
"/application/module/web[web-uri/text()="WebProject.war"]/context-root"
But, that didn't work.
Although the "given EAR file" does not have the suggested id attributes, I tried adding a deployment descriptor application.xml file that does have such id attributes [2], allowing an XPath expression like the one suggested:
"/application/module[id="WebProject"]/web/context-root"
- scenario (sc7) : deploy ReviewContextRootFirstApp.ear (in ReviewContextRootApps-v0.02.zip) with deployment plan fa-plan-application-xml-with-id.xml (tries to configure "/rcrfaweb14"), results in context-root "/rcrfaweb" (as in application.xml)
- scenario (sc8) : deploy ReviewContextRootSecondApp.ear (in ReviewContextRootApps-v0.02.zip) with deployment plan sa-plan-application-xml-with-id.xml (tries to configure "/rcrsaweb24"), results in context-root "/rcrsaweb" (as in application.xml)
So, it does not seem to work.
... you have to use a variable assignment in the right part of the deployment plan (in this case the application.xml) ...My observations I describe above (that it does not seem to work) seem to confirm the Oracle documentation [1] I referred to in this forum thread before:
"Oracle does not support using a deployment plan to change the context-root in an application.xml file. ... "
... By using an xpath expression, you can define which part of the xml has to be changed. ...The values for the deployment-plan xpath elements seem to be "peculiar".
Although it should not be a problem in an XPath expression, using single quotes (like module[id='WebProject'] ) instead of double quotes (like module[id="WebProject"] ) results in:
"java.lang.AssertionError: Attributes must be defined as name value pairs, eg, name="value" -- [id='WebProject']"
Because an XPath predicate expression would use an "@" to refer to an attribute, I also tried to replace what you suggested module[id="Web"] with something like module[@id="Web"] but that also did not make a difference.

Is there a way to increase the size of the network cache to 2048?
