Is it possible to find image name in PDF?

Hi,
There are times when I have a PDF but do not have the native file from which it is created. I would like to know the name of the images in the PDF.
There is a program--PitStop--that I used to use years ago that could tell you all the parameters of an image including the name of the image used by the native file.
But it seems that the preflight tools in Acrobat cannot do this. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to find the name of an image?
Thanks,
Tom

Hi Tom,
I'm pretty sure the IPTC data gets completely consumed inside an Adobe
PDF file, even if the original images have this metadata or extended
data (XMP) information. In other words, they do not make it through.
Try downloading a copy of Enfocus Pitstop - I know you can link to an
original authoring document (InDesign/Quark) through the CertifiedPDF
route but you cannot display the image name?
This is an interesting topic.

  • Find the names of all open forms from inside a PJC

    Hi,
    is it possible to find the names of all open forms from inside a PJC (pluggable java bean)?
    I have tried the window bean but it retrieves currently open windows and reads the title of each window, but what i need is to find the form name not the window title.

    Thank you

    You don't need to know names of all open forms to close them.
    Try to do someting like this :
    When you need to close all forms, set some global variable flag and call exit_form
    in WHEN-WINDOW-ACTIVATED of each form check your global flag and if set, also exit_form.

  • Is it possible to find all images below 300dpi in a document?

    Hi there, I'm hoping this is a quick question. I've had a look on google but to no avail.
    Is it possible to find all images within an indesign document that are below 300dpi. I've got a lot of images placed in a document, quite a lot were low res (not all, but a lot) just for quickness to begin with...but now I need to replace them with the high res for print, and theres LOADS so i don't really wanna do it manually.
    I know when you do preflight indesign will tell you if there are any images using RGB colour space, but will it do somehting similar with image quality?
    Mac OSX 10.5.8, InDesign CS3

    Okay, here is a fast one but it seems to do the job.
    Copy the text in the frame below into a plain text document using Notepad, Textedit (in plain text mode!), or -- safest -- InDesign's own ESTK Editor that comes installed with the package. Save as "ReportBadResolution.jsx" in your User Scripts folder (see also InDesignSecret's How to install scripts in InDesign).  Double-click to run.
    If nothing happens, all images are okay. If you get an error somewhere, you have used images in a way I did not foresee (and thus didn't script how to handle these); try to report what goes wrong where and on what sort of image, if possible.
    If the script does find anything wrong -- it checks for a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and, as a bonus, on badly scaled images -- it will create a new blank document and fill a text frame with the relevant information: image name, page, and x/y resolutions. It creates only one single page so if you get an 'overset text plus' at the bottom you have lots and lots of bad images ...
    Here's the script to copy:
    //DESCRIPTION:Report Bad Resolutions for a New Year
    // No Guarantees, Ltd. Use at your own risk.
    // Jongware, 05-Feb-2010
    // Minimum dpi allowed:
    var minimumValue = 300;
    // Alert when x/y scaling is off by this much percents:
    var percentageScaling = 1;
    var lowResList = new Array;
    for (aGraphic=0; aGraphic<app.activeDocument.allGraphics.length; aGraphic++)
    oneGraphic = app.activeDocument.allGraphics[aGraphic];
    try {

    frame = doc.textFrames.add({geometricBounds:[0,0,doc.documentPreferences.pageHeight, doc.documentPreferences.pageWidth]});

    There is Links collection in Document.
    VisualBasic example:
    For a=1 to myDoc.Links.Count

    I would like to use the ubuntu 1204 image in the Gallery.
    How do I specify the image_name and media_link in my Python code?  Basically, where and how do I find the image name and media_link for an image in the Azure image Gallery?
    Thanks in advance...

    hi sir,
    Did you try to use "List OS Image"? we can get the property form the results:
    result = sms.list_os_images()
    for image in result:
    print('Name: ' + image.name)
    print('Label: ' + image.label)
    print('OS: ' + image.os)
    print('Category: ' + image.category)
    print('Description: ' + image.description)
    print('Location: ' + image.location)
    print('Affinity group: ' + image.affinity_group)
    print('Media link: ' + image.media_link)
    print('')
    Please try it. Any questions or it doesn't work, please let me know.

    Hi,
    As far as I understand what you are asking for I would suggest 4 data dictionaries that will help you to know the table name from the column names
    1. USER_TAB_COLS
    2. ALL_TAB_COLS
    3. DBA_TAB_COLS
    4. COLS
    These can give you detail information about the columns and respective tables at user, schema, dba level. Further information on the table can be found by querying ALL_OBJECTS table giving table_name as Object_name, or you can join the data dictionaries too.
    To know about various data dictionaries avalible in Oracle please query select * from cat;
    Let us know if you need further assistance.

  • Is it possible to find out the names of the various objects (jpegs, pdf's, etc) in a keynote presentation?

    I have to re do a keynote presentation for powerpoint -- the export feature won't work on the pc -- it simply says that it wasn't possible to display some of the text and objects because they had become corrupted, and were replaced with blank slides.  I was wondering if it's possible to find out the names of the objects used in the presentation.  That way I could save them to a folder and just paste them in to the PPT version on the PC.  I know they have to be somewhere on the Mac that the presentation was made on, so is it also possible to find out where they would be?
    I tried right clicking on the objects in the slide, but there was no 'get info' option, like there is in a finder window.  Please help if you can.
    Chris

    There are a few options for you here. In the Inspector>Metrics Tab, when you click on the picture, it will display the name. Then you can use the find feature of the Finder to locate the picture. If you have Keynote set to save files as Packages, you can right click the file in the Finder (or control click) and then select Show Package Content. This will show you all the files that make up your Keynote and you can copy the pictures out of there into a new folder. Finally, if you can't find them any other way, you can select and copy the picture in Keynote, then open Preview and command-n (or File Menu>New from Clipboard) and then save the file to where ever you want so you can find it.

    What's the answer?

    Many thanks to  responded to my question and sorry not to get back sooner.
    Yes, I discovered by this unfortunate experience that the names of photos are a serious issue if the site is to ever go to an FTP server.  Apple should discuss this carefully in their "manual".
    One more question:  I uploaded the website to a folder on my desktop. When I open it, unlike the photos in iWeb, there are folders for each page which have all the photos in them. I went through each folder and changed the names to be FTP compatible. I'm using iWeb SEO Tool which allows one to upload from this local folder to an FTP server but having trouble.
    Is this because there is an imbedment in iWeb that uses the old photo names to link to the actual photos and it can't find them because of the name changes?
    Thanks again for your help ...

    - If you previously turned on the FIndMyiPod feature and location service is on, and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud, sign in, and go to FindMyiPhone. It the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    - Report to police and change the passwords fro all accounts used on the iPod.
    - Apple will not help

    No, someone can just restore the iPod and use it or sell it. Apple does not block it from someone using it.

  • Quick find image by date

    Is there a quick way of filtering by date without having to open the Filter HUD and use either Calandar or Date criteria; both of which are clunky?
    (Often have to select date criteria to add to the HUD which takes even longer!!)
    I want to be able to search the library for photos taken on a specific date by summoning a date entry box with a key combo, entering the date, (preferably in UK format), and pressing enter. If I had this I could then adapt MacSpeach to do it on verbal command!!!
    I have tried searching this forum, (so forgive me if I have missed it), and also aple script forums.
    Is anyone out there whizz kid enough to knock a script up to do this on the back of an envelope in a thousandth of the time it would take me to learn how to do that????
    Failing the above, how do I keep "Date" in the filter HUD fields????
    Many thanks

    Click on the image and then do Command+I (Get Information). Where it says 'Open with Preview', change it in the drop-down menu to 'Photoshop' and underneath than click on the button 'Change All'. All images of that type will now open in Photoshop.

  • How do I hide the file names/path names of embedded images in a PDF document?

    I created a PDF document from a Word document, and the problem is that the PDF document shows the file names and path names for all of the embedded images in the PDF document. I don't want that information displayed. I don't want to send the PDF out to clients and have them read the names I've assigned to those images, plus it looks messy. And I've lost many of the original image files so they only exist in the Word document, thus I can't go back and rename them. I searched the internet for an answer but I couldn't find one anywhere.

    When you create a tagged (accessible) PDF file from Word, placed bitmap images will use their filename as the "ALT text" if you don't define something else for the text to say, because an image without any ALT text is a failure against the accessibility standards. You can't change that default action, so you should put your own meaningful text into the ALT field for each image - which is what you should be doing anyway if the PDF is standards-compliant.
    You can can set the text in Word, but it depends on your version as to where the dialogs are - Google for it - or you can change/delete it in Acrobat using the tags navigation pane on the left side of the window (right-click the sidebar if it's not visible). Drill down through the tags structure to find the "<Figure>" tag you want to change, right-click and choose Properties, then put something in the "Alternative text" field. This process isn't something you can easily automate, but if you don't need tags at all, you can save without tags (or print to PDF).
