Is it possible to get a process' full path name.

I have a task:
1) I want to check that executable file /xxx/yyy/file exists.
If so
2) I want to check that this file is running now.
On OS that support procfs by default a can do it by checking /proc/pid/exe.
Is on MacOS some tool to solve my task? And how can I solve my task on Java or C?

ps -axww | grep -i "text" will do the second.
I think that the first is a little bit more tricky.

  • Getting the local full path name of a file from an item File Browser

    Hi all,
    I would like to get the local full path name, of a file selected from an item 'File browser'.
    I see in wwv_flow_files the column 'name', but actually it's a kind of id like 'F1542335/myFile.gif' for example.
    What i want is the local path of this file ("C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\....\myFile.gif").
    I hope this is possible??
    Anyway, thanks all for reading.
    Ludo

    Hello, thank you for the answer.
    Please understand that I searched before posting, and not ony 15 min.
    What i mean is that the value of a File Browser in an Apex applocation is something like 'F1542335/myFile.gif', but what I need is the local path location.
    And 'F1542335/' is not the local path location, i can't use it. Or maybe there is a way to convert it in a proper path name, such as "C:\Documents and Settings\....", but I don't think so.
    So my question is : how to get the local path name of a file in Apex?
    I'll answer if I find some good things.
    Thanks

    In the new version of Numbers this option is not available.  You will have to type the file name into the header yourself.  You can post feedback to Apple using the menu item "Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback"
    or use Numbers2.3 which should be in the folder "/Applications/iWork '09" if you previously had it installed

  • Is it possible to get the active directory user name of the person

    Is it possible to get the active directory user name of the person who is logged onto a windows computer, when they are using your coldfusion site, the same way asp pages can do that?

    SECOND TRY TO POST THIS REPLY
    You have to turn on "Windows Integrated Security" and turn off anonymous login in the IIS web server, once that condition is met the cgi.AUTH_USER variable will be popluated with the domain/username of the user logged into the cient computer.
    If the user is using a windows browser on a windows client computer this will be done silently in the background.  Otherwise they will normally be presented with a login dialog box by the browser.

  • How to get the full path name of a file

    Hey everybody, I'm new here and in Java.
    so I will explain my question by giving an example:
    I want to send file from the Desktop by the "Send to" on the popup menu to my program.
    I want to know how can I read the full path name and the file name, and show it on my text box.
    Thanx alot

    If this is a client side application then I'd say look into drag-n-drop tutorials.
    i.e. drag file to your application, action listener fires, create File object giving you full name and path of users action.
    If this is a web application then look into the "multipart/form-data" content type specifications on how to upload files.
    i.e. user specifies file from <input type='file' ... /> type, submits, servlet receives data and recreates file locally on application server side.
    If you are thinking that all you need to send a file to a program is the full path and name in a textbox its a little bit more complicated then that.
    Good luck, hope that helps!

  • File upload not giving full path name

    I am not getting the full path name when uploading a file to the newer Netscape
    7 (using WLS 7.x on a Unix platform). It worked fine under Netscape 4.x.
    E.g. If I want to upload the file:
    /myfiles/uploads/ThisOne.txt
    only ‘ThisOne.txt’ get returned under Netscape 4.x I would get ‘/myfiles/uploads/ThisOne.txt’

  • Manually migrating to another PC and full path names

    This is really a question about user names. Do you have to have the same user name on the new PC if you want copy music files AND the original libary to a new PC.
    I am guessing that the user name does have to be identical on the new PC from looking in iTunes Music Library.xml which appears to contain full path names.
    Is there a way round this if the user names are not the same and you want to keep all the information in your library?

    Just thinkng about this a bit more, I guess that as the path to the music folder is set in Preferences, the iTunes music folder can be transferred to a new PC with a different account name as long as all the music is in the iTunes music folder and the iTunes folder is copied to where it is expected on the new PC.
    Have I guessed this right - that the path to the music folder is not set in iTunes Library.itl file, but in the preference file, and this is in contrast to the xml file where the full paths are given?
    Unfortunately a lot of my music is not in the iTunes music folder - a strong incentive to consolodating the library before transferring.
    I may seem to be a bit anal about this but I want a trouble free transfer.

  • How can I paste the full path name into the find file dialog?

    I've copied a full path name using CMD-C.
    Now I click on a link in some web page (does not matter which one) which lets me upload a file.
    The standard apple file selector dialog pops up (sorry don't know the official apple name for this dialog), to let me navigate and select the file.
    How can I paste the file name?  Or how can I tell the dialog popup to navigate to the file whose full path name is in the clipboard?

    Here is an image showing the file browser dialog I'm referring to.

  • Full Path of selected File

    Hi together,
    in our programming project we are facing a problem with
    handling of files.
    Due to the security it is not possible to handle local files
    via flash.
    This is what I figured out by searching via google.
    But is it possible to get just the full path of a user
    selected file?
    Scenario
    The flash file we are using is embedded in a local stand
    alone application,
    i.e. it is not on the server and also not embedded in html,
    php, jsp, ...
    User clicks on a button. A pop-up window displays the
    directory structure.
    User can navigate to a directory within local drive and
    select a file.
    Currently we only get the file name like process.pdf
    But we also want to have the full path like
    C:\Documents\Project1\process.pdf
    So we only need this full-path string. We don't want to do
    anything with the selected file with flash
    How is this possible, to get full file path with flash by
    using flex 3?
    Thanks a lot
    K.K.

    Sounds like you need to be using AIR

  • Get full path

    I'm sure this one has been asked a million times before, but a search of the forums hasn't proved particularly positive - so, apologies if this is a duplicate post, but...
    How on earth does one get the full path of a file??? I mean, starting from the very root directory?
    I'm sure there must be some kind of recursive method that loops back through the directories and eventually returns a string with the full path name - but I can't figure it out. I've tried getPath(), getCanonicalPath()... etc etc, but so far with no joy...
    P.S. I need the full path as I am writing a servlet to delete files from my server and I need to pass the full path to the delete() method.... Or at least I assume that is the way to do it, and at least, writing in the path name manually works fine. The problem is that since the folders are created dynamically when the files are first uploaded, I have to find a way of retrieving the whole structure... do I not?
    A second, and possibly related problem, is that the getCanonicalPath() method returns a directory for the chosen file - but it seems to retun the wrong one! ie, it only returns /bin/file - and the file is definitely not in /bin!

    I tried that too - still didn't work. But now I think the problem is more to do with the fact that my files are stored on my server because when I try my method in a static context elsewhere on my computer it seems to work fine. Can't figure out what the problem might be...

  • Get full path in an inputFile

    Hi! I´ve inserted an inputFile component in a JSF Page. In the backing bean, I need to get the full path of the selected file in that inputFile, but I´m only able to get the fileName casting the inputFile to an UploadedFile. How can I get the full path?
    Thank you so much

    Hi Frank,
    when I tried to upload an image file into OrdImageDomain with
    myImage.setContentSource(new OrdFileSource(myuploadfile.getFileName())) via UploadedFile
    I was given error of "file not found" kind of error, but if I hardcode the statement with
    myImage.setContentSource(new OrdFileSource("c:/temp/myFileToUpload.jpg")), the upload suceeded.
    I found that myuploadfile.getFileName() returns only the file name part, not the full path name. I suspect that is the source of error.
    Same question: can I get the full file path name out of an UploadedFile? if not, how to get around it?
    or am I doing something wrong? my Jdev is 10.1.3.0.4
    Regards,

  • Getting complete full path of a file name

    Greetings Java developer!
    I am having a problem in my JSF program to get a complete full path of a file name if I runs it using a browser other than IE.
    Here is the code I used to retrieve the complete full path of a fine name in my program.
    UploadedFile uploadedFile =
    fileUpload1.getUploadedFile();
    String uploadedFileName =
    uploadedFile.getOriginalName();
    note: fileUpload1 is a UI component of sun.rave.web.ui.model.
    The expected result would be i.e.:
    C:\\abc\file.txt or /abc/file.txt
    It works in the IE browser, but does NOT in Mozilla, Firefox, and Netscape. Is anyone have a clue to resolve this problem? Please advice.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    The tutorial on file upload
    http://developers.sun.com/jscreator/learning/tutorials/2/file_upload.html
    has been updated to include this information. Pasting the relevant code from the tutorial:
    public String uploadFileButton_action() {
    UploadedFile uploadedFile = fileUpload1.getUploadedFile();
    String uploadedFileName = uploadedFile.getOriginalName();
    // Some browsers return complete path name, some don't
    // Make sure we only have the file name
    // First, try forward slash
    int index = uploadedFileName.lastIndexOf('/');
    String justFileName;
    if ( index >= 0) {
    justFileName = uploadedFileName.substring( index + 1 );
    } else {
    // Try backslash
    index = uploadedFileName.lastIndexOf('\\');
    if (index >= 0) {
    justFileName = uploadedFileName.substring( index + 1 );
    } else {
    // No forward or back slashes
    justFileName = uploadedFileName;
    }

  • Getting PO number as file name when getting output as pdf file

    Hi Experts,
    Is there any possibility to get PO number into file name (instead of spool number) when getting output as pdf file.
    Since I'm printing POs in batches (as pdf) it is too difficult to find exact PO among all the pdf files.
    If PO number maintained as file name, would be great time saver for me.
    Thanks
