Is it possible to install a software to a one particular user profile only on my Mac?

Create an Applications folder in the user's Home folder. Install the application to that /Home/Applications/ folder. To create a new folder in the Home folder press COMMAND-SHIFT-N. Rename the new folder Applications.

Hi, I have a Indesign user who inherited a PC with Indesign installed. Indesign works with old PC user profile but not the new user. Any ideas how I can resolve this?

Question # 1 is what do you mean by "inherited"? Is this a case where the computer belonged to someone else? Your user would not be entitled to use a program licensed to someone else.

  • Install 3 software packages to one collection

I need to deploy 3 different pieces of software to one collection. I setup program 1 and deployed it to an empty collection. I then setup program 2 install enabling the "Run Another program first" option referencing program 1. I
then setup program 3, again enabling "Run Another program first" referencing program 2. Program 2 and 3 installed but program 1 did not.
Is it possible to install the 3 in the manner I described or should I be looking at Task Sequence as an option?

  • Is it possible to install two OSX`s on one internal hard drive?

I tried to make a new, 30GB free partition formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled), but I can`t install OS X 10.6 from my original DVD there. Says "Mac OS X can`t be installed on this computer". Why?

I thought about some solutions, but I don`t know if any of them is true.
    1) The original OS X DVD recongizes, that it has been installed and not erased yet and it doesn`t allow second installation.
    2) My MacBook has replaced internal hard drive because of an error. In an authorised Apple service they gave me a new one with preinstalled OSX. But I don`t think that OSX install DVD is matched with hard drive.
    3) DVD is broken.
    Please help.

  • Is it possible to install Desktop Software for Mac on an OS 10.4.11?

and if not how do I speak to someone about returning this device that WASNT explained to me and is unusable in this particular situation?
i dont WANT to return it but manually sending each photo to my email and downloading them one at a time is beyond tedious.

  • Is it possible to Install Windows 8 Pro 64-bit on a secondary hard dive in Mac Mini (Late 2012) using Boot Camp 5?

    Hello,
I have a Mac Mini (Late 2012) running on OS X 10.8.3 and would like to install Windows 8 Pro on a secondary hard drive using Boot Camp 5. Is that really possible?
A little background about the topic under discussion.
    1. Mac Mini (Late 2012) has a place holder to accomodate an additional hard drive (2.5") under the hood
    2. If just plugged with one, it would show as an additional volume in the finder
    3. Boot Camp 5 supoprts Windows 8 Pro 64-bit installation
The idea is to run two operating systems (1. OS X and 2. Windows 8) on two hard drives in a Mac Mini, with maintainability a constraint.
Have any one tried this out?  If so, kindly share if there are any specific procedures apart form the one given in Boot Camp 5 manual.
    Thanks in advance.
    ~ Narey

    Gotcha!!
I am done with mounting a secondary HDD (thanks to ifixit) and installing Windows 8 Pro 64 bit on it without a worry. Charm, charm!!
Boot Camp 5 guide prescribes all needed steps and when read and used correctly, installation must be an easy task. And all the existing apple hardwares work so good in the Windows environment too.
I am going to help out a friend of mine in doing a similar thing on his mac too. If you got specific questions, please do shoot up here and i should be able to get a reply to it (if at all).
    Thanks everyone.

  • Is it possible to install two Oracle Databases on one host?

I got installed Oracle 10.1.0.3.0 on my host (OS: Linux CentOS 5 64-bit) and there is need to install another one on the same host. Additional database is supposed to be started up and shutted down once per a day for a couple of hours.
    Is this configuration possible?
    Thanks in advance

It is possible to have N database instances running on one box. They can also be running on the same or different $ORACLE_HOMEs.
If you are using the same ORACLE_HOME for all your databases, be sure to change your ORACLE_SID to point to the correct SID.
DBCA can help you create different databases from the current ORACLE_HOME

  • Possible to install two groupware connectors on one machine/system?

    Hi gurus,
we want to save the money for a new machine, so I'm currently looking to get a second groupware connector installation done on the same machine. Anyone having experience with that? Is it even possible?
The setup.exe does not really offer to do a second groupware connector installation for exchange. Even if that would be possible I fear the created services for our machine (SAP MS Exchange Groupware Connector 2.1) will be overwritten by the second installation?
    Torsten

    Torsten,
I know from how the Lotus Notes version of the connector works, it just wouldn't work because of how it uses the Lotus Notes libraries.  For exchange I'm not sure if there is as tight of integration.  The connector is relatively light weight, so have you considered piggy backing it on another box such as a SAP webdispatcher or something else.  You could also look at using a VM as the requirements for the connector aren't that much for a test system.
    Take care,
    Stephen

Hi, I am working with CS6 Design Standard for Mac, I bought from Adobe a DVD with the Software. I installed it already on my mac book. Soon I wanna buy a second computer for my work. When I bought the software I was told that it is possible to install the software on a second computer. But I also read lately that I will only be allowed to work with one computer. I want to work on both of my computers without de/installing and de/activating the software every time. Is this possible? Thank you!!

You should be able to install the products on two computers as long as they are not running at same. Also the platform should be MAC.
You may download the product from

  • Can i install a software in two imac?

    Hi All,
I recently purchased a software FCE4 and I want to install it into 2 imac.
For the first imac installation is no problem but I found that it can not be install in second imac.
Is it possible to install a software into 2 imac?
    Please advance the method.
    Many Thanks

What username? It means you have to own and control both machines. They're for your use. You can't buy a computer, install the software, and give it to someone else. So I guess the user registration name should be the same, but this does not apply to two iMacs.

  • Is it possible to install Solaris 10 without burning it onto CDs?

    December 16, 2006
    Hai!
Have downloaded Solaris 10 OS, x86, for downloading onto WINDOWS ONLY Platform - Solaris 10 11/06 Operating System. They are Solaris 10 11/06 x86 CD 1 to CD5.
I don't have a CD writer or DVD writer to burn the software onto CDs and then install it. Kindly let me know if it is possible to install the software without burning it onto CDs.
    Best Regards,
    Kartheek D. N.

Without a jumpstart server you would need to burn the DVD or at least the first CD, then you'ld boot of the first CD and install the initial OS. Once the OS have rebooted after the first install, you can install the software available on the remaining four cd's by mounting them with "lofiadm", "mount" and running the installer on the CD-images.
If you have another Sun system, you can create a jumpstart from the ISO files in a similar way, there is an infodoc which describes how to create an image from the first CD.

  • Install new softwares in mac mini?

    Hello,
I am planning to buy a new mac mini, is it possible to install new softwares in that or should I have to go for Apple USB SuperDrive? Please guide me through ASAP.
    Thanks,
    Anand Ganesan

An update for all those who want to use an old Mac Mini's optical disc drive in a new Mac Mini, which has no disc drive. It WILL NOT work with a firewire connection. The old mini does work as an OPTICAL DRIVE ONLY if you connect it to the new one via USB cable (male to male). It will work both as an OPTICAL DRIVE and an EXTERNAL HD if you connect it to the new mini on an Ethernet network (this through my DSL modem which has three Ethernet ports) or by WiFi. If you keep an OSX system on the old mini you can also use any old apps on that computer via screen sharing on the new one. Hope this helps all who had my problem.

If the command-line you gave ConfigMgr runs successfully, there's not anything else ConfigMgr can do. Thus the logs above don't add any value. Thus, the issue lies with the MSI. Where did you get it from? Have you tried running it with the /l*v command-line
option to add verbose logging and then reviewed this log file? Have you tried manually testing using the System account (done using psexec) to more closely emulate how ConfigMgr invokes the command-line?

  • Why is Adobe installing McAfee software by stealth?

I cannot understand why Adobe is installing McAfee software by stealth, and infuriating users like myself?
I cannot understand the mindset in a supposedly clever organisation that could imagine that this is OK?
It is fundamentally both deceitful and patronising.

Wanted to add a voice to this, disgusting behaviour. The latest Flash update provides NO option to customise the installation (i.e. remove unwanted McAfee Security). There may be an alternative download site, but the automatic update option has no options.
The more I use Adobe products, the less I want to. The sooner the web catches up with HTML5 and dumps Flash the better.
You DO have the option to disable automatic updates. Your post doesn't read as though you don't know how to do that, but it's in the Global Settings under the Advanced tab. The downside is that you have to manually update, but the following links remain the same even though the file is updated with each release:
Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer)
Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers)
They contain the FULL installer only. Bookmark them and you'll never have to bother with third party software.

hi, i am trying to install a software but it says that PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
Is there something that i can do in order to install the software?

    Hi..
If you have an Intel based Mac running v10.6 Snow Leopard, you can install Rosetta to run PowerPC apps  > Mac OS X 10.6 Help: If you need to install Rosetta
If you have a Mac with v10.7 Lion installed, read here > Lion upgrade questions: Apple Support Communities
