Is it possible to make a submenu into a new project?

I spend a good deal of time making a submenu thinking I would put everything one one DVD but I decided I want to just make it its own DVD. If not it's not a big deal to recreate it, however it included a slideshow. If I can't make the whole submenu and its contents into a new project, can I at least use the slideshow I made in a new project? How would I do that?

1 - Duplicate the iDVD project file.
2 - open the duplicate, gto to the main menu and delete everything except the link to the submenu.
3 - go to the submenu and copy each item, one at a time, and paste it into the main menu.
4 - once you have all items pasted in the main menu be sure to play them to  verify they work as they should.
5 - delete the link to the submenu from the main menu.
That should get you what you want.
NOTE:  the order that the items from the sub menu are added to the main menu will set the order in which they are selected when using the DVD player's remote device.

AppleMan  Thanks very much for the information, however I could't make it work. I followed your instructions to the letter, in fact I tried every which-way. I created a dedicated file into which I copied and pasted the project from "package contents"  but it was still greyed out when I went to retrieve it. I also found that the file size was reduced to only a few Kb.  Any further step-by-step instructions would be appreciated as I am obviously doing something wrong.  Babowa  It appears that in imovie everything has to be "finalised" before it can be used or shared elsewhere in the same way as a disk has to be to be played elsewhere. Funnily enough an MOV file I converted to Mp4 was not greyed out and I was able to import it.... an exercise I am not keen on because of resolution loss during conversion

  • Possible to make a guide into a mask or selection?

Is this possible? I want to use a guide made from an object, as a cookie cutter for an image that I've placed under it. thanks!

    Thanks,
This actually worked to crop the OUTSIDE of my circle, but for some reason the hole in the middle of this circle was never masked
When working with more than one guide/ path, I keep bumping into a few rules.
I think if I can get this, I'll start to understand how to separate my layers better.
"The selection cannot contain objects within different groups unless the entire group is selected."
I get this message even when I select "entire groups"
"Can't make the selection into guides. Guides cannot be created or released within the selected object types."
Well, I wasn't trying to create guide, actually. (lol)
So my real question is, where can I find an advanced tutorial that focuses specifically on layer order/simplification, as opposed to just creating some nice Illustrator image?
I seem to be inadvertently creating a surplus of extra paths and layers and groups that I don't even need, (i can prove it by throwing them out) lol!

  • Is it possible to load saved audiofiles into a new multitrack project?

    Hi
Is it possible to load pre-saved audiofiles (from previous version of a multitrack project) into a new multitrack project which includes the exact-same clips used for the pre-saved audiofiles?
I'm tempted to experiment but am afraid of adversely affecting my pre-saved audiofiles. Any tips would be really appreciated.
    Warm regards
    Peter

    Hi Jim
Well, since as things stand I can't get 'conform' to work (but hopefully it will once I install Snow Leopard and the new FCS3) I'm trying to come up with a 'workaround' to my problem.
Say, I have my multitrack project which had been sent from Final Cut 6.
Nightmare of nightmares, I realise that I need to change some aspects of my picture edit.
Conform doesn't work for me in STP2. So, as a workaround, instead I ensure that all of my audiofiles are saved (your 'save as...and collect media' suggestion).
I make some changes to my picture edit to make the video shorter.
I now need to resend my changed-picture-edit FCP6 sequence to STP2 afresh as a new multitrack project.
Now in STP2 I will be looking at my new multitrack project, which matches my updated FCP6-changed sequence.
Ahhh, as I write this I think I'm figuring it out...
My idea is to open the previously saved 'longer' multitrack edit in addition to my current 'newer' multitrack project, and then manually copy over the matching-duration 'pre-saved' audiofiles (that already have effects applied such as reduce noise) into my new multitrack project.
In other words, I will replace the exact-same clips in the new multitrack project with the clips from the old multitrack project which have effects applied on them.
I think I may have answered my own question :o) Does this sound feasible do you think?
Hopefully this will only be a stopgap workaround until I do a fresh install of Snow Leopard and FCS3, when hopefully the Conform feature of STP will be error-free for me.

  • How do I import an existing finalised imovie into a new project either in part or full. The movie I want to import is filed under "movies" but greyed out when I go through the procedure in imovie 11

How do I import an existing finalised movie clip into  a new developing project ? I go through the imovie 11 procedure for importing and the list of clips (finalised and un-finalised) appears, but always "greyed out" which makes it impossible to create anything. I have tried placing it on the desk top and dragging but this doesn't work either.

  • I have projects with subclips, How do I export them into 1 new project?

I am using premiere pro and have created several Projects where I have gone through long source files and created many subclips.  I would now like to start a new project and have all of those subclips as the primary source media .  I am wondering if it is possible to do this, and how I would export the subclips.  Thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Garrett

Go to the Media Browser, there you will find all the assets of a project including subclips.
    Providing you are on PPCC.

How are multiple photos ordered/exported for printing?

Go to your Flagged Photos Smrt Album on the Left.
Command - a will select All
Then File -> New -> Album

  • I purchased the new iPad wifi only and now i want to know if it's possible to exchange this iPad into the new iPad wi-fi + 4g?? Money isn't a problem. I can pay the extra money for new iPad. Is it possible ? I'm from germany.

    Thank you for your time

You can use an iPhone as a personal hotspot (if your carrier supports it), or get a mifi device and use that as a mobile hotspot for it - the iPad will see them as wifi networks.

  • How to transfering Adobe illustrator layers into a new project?

How do I drag and drop adobe illustrator layers into another separate illustrator project? I have a few dozen illustrator layers and I wanted to transfer them to another illustrator project. Any ideas? Thanks
    I'm using windows 7 cs2

You have to have an object on the layer for it to transfer (at least in my experience). Open document 1. Make a new document and make sure Paste Remembers Layers is on. Select all in document 1, copy and paste in document 2. Then hit delete to clear the objects from document 1. The layer structure will be maintained with one exception. Don't have a layer named Layer 1 in the first document that is not the top or bottom layer.

  • Images don't appear when moving an album into a new project

I've been scanning negatives into Aperture using a project (Scans) as a "holding" point until I determine which actual project to move the images to. I put these scanned images into various albums within Scans. When I've decided what actual project to move them to, I drag the album to that project, then drag the images themselves (or vice versa). A lot of times, the images will move to that project but won't show up in the album I just dragged unless I quit and restart Aperture. I never had this problem before upgrading to v.3.
I've also had a flicker problem when comparing a version to its master (posted elsewhere in the forum).

Well not really, Aperture holds all your image files in Projects. If you can think of a project as a box of negatives it will help you. Then put your prints in Albums, so to speak. You can put the Albums any place you wish, but the negatives stay in the project box. Allan.

  • How do I copy multiple clips and sequences into a new project

    Hi Folks,
I've spent a while on the net trying to find an answer to my problem - so far without success. I have successful finished a documentary project (on climbing Mt Kilimanjaro) and now I want to lift the most dramatic sequence (the summit) so I can advertize the thing on my website and elsewhere. I have two audio tracks and two video tracks with multiple still photos in one of the video tracks.
There must be a way to do this but I can't find it.
Any ideas - and if this is a simplistic question I apologize - I've been learning as I go on this project.
    Cheers,
    Paddy Ryan

Okay everyone - thanks for your help - new problem.
I successfully "built" my 4 minutes clip from the original project. But I couldn't find a way to delet the material past rthe point at which I wanted it to end. So I went in and manually deleted everything. Inow have a 4 minute clip but when I try and convert it to a Youtube friendly file format it tells me the clip is 26 minutes long. I checked it out and it just kepy playing black with no sound. I dug around alittle and founf a sort of mini-compressed timelione of all that material and deleted it. tried again. It now stops playing after 4 minutes but once again tells me the clip is 26 minutes long when I try and convert the file. Are there pixies living among the pixels?

  • Is it possible to set frame size for a new project ?

    Hi all,
i would like to create a video in which there will be 2 videos playing the same content from a different angle.
    Each video is 512 x 384 .
So i would like to set the frame size of the project as 1024 x 768 in order both videos to exist.
I searched around for tutorials regarding this but i didn't find anything similar. It seems as if i cannot set the frame size of the project from the start.
So,is there a way to do this?
Thank you for your time reading this.
    Regards,
    nikits72.

Hi and thank you for your answers.
    @->shoternz
It will be displayed in my monitor and probably on you tube.Btw your remark on size was very accurate.Didn't think of that.
Although i could use a little bigger height to use it to display a logo or something....
I am very premiere newbie as you can understand.

  • Copy and past sub clip into new project

is it possible to capture and paste a sub clip into a new project?
do I need to do any thing to that clip?
do I need to make the clip independent?

is it possible to capture and paste a sub clip into a new project?
    Yes.
do I need to do any thing to that clip?
Not deleting the original will help.
do I need to make the clip independent?
Only if you are absolutely determined to delete the original.

  • How to split a PE1 project into two smaller projects?

I have a 1hr 36 min. project in PE1.  I want to split it into two different projects of about 48 min. each and burn two DVDs.  My intent is to get a better MPEG resolution for these smaller projects.
Can I select half of the timeline, cut it and paste it into a new project?  Would the effects be preserved?  I have a week of work invested in this project and I don’t want to screw it up!
    Thanks
    Fred J.

    FredJ,
    Welcome to the forum.
I agree with both Neale and Steve, though it might at first appear that they are saying two different things.
The bit-rate in the Transcoding to MPEG-2 will be determined by the Duration of the Timeline and the capacity of the blank media, whether DVD-5, or DVD-9. In most versions of PrE, this bit-rate will be a function of the Quality Slider, but the ultimate bit-rate for the combined video and audio is set in the DVD-specs. One cannot exceed about 8 b/s.
Now, with your Duration, there might be a very slight increase in the bit-rate, were you to take Neale's advice and break your Project into two parts, however, I think that his advice to study the result of your entire Timeline is good, as I doubt that one could tell the differences, unless you have a great deal of fast motion, of either the camera, or the subject, and then it's likely that the quality would appear to be the same to the human eye.
Steve is correct in that the result will have to be within the DVD-specs, and will only be 720x480, at up to that max. bit-rate. That is as good as it gets.
For the ultimate test, I would take Neale's suggestion on Burning to Folder one step further. Once that is done, you can first test your Project with a DVD software program on your computer. BUT, be aware that you are viewing on a higher-rez, progressive computer monitor, and its rez will exceed that of a TV and that of a DVD-Video disc. Thus, it is not a perfect test. To get an idea of how the DVD will look on a set-top player, hooked to a TV, you can either, also burn to a DVD RW (rewritable disc) to test on a set-top player, or you can use the free burning utility, ImgBurn, to burn to a DVD RW and test. The reason for the Rewritable media is so that you can reuse it for testing. You will NOT be using this disc for delivery, but just for testing. Now, if you feel that very slight decrease in bit-rate is noticed, you can go back to his suggestion on how to split the Project, and then produce a multi-disc. set for the Project.
Also, the ultimate quality and also playability of the DVD-Video will be enhanced if you use quality blank media. I strongly recommend Verbatim, or Taiyo Yuden blank media. Brands like Memorex, TDK, recent Ritek and ALL "store-brands," are to be avoided. One is also best served by buying slower speed media, as PrE will measure the speed of the media and the speed of the drive and try to get you the fastest possible burn. It does not allow you to set the speed of the burn manually. Most people feel that stepping down from a max. burn speed produces a better DVD. I routinely will drop the burn speed (in other software) to about 1/2 of the max., and have had thousands of perfect DVD's. One can set the burn speed in the above mentioned ImgBurn utility.
To distill the above: try it and see if your Project isn't perfect now, and if not, then break it apart into two segments. I doubt that you could tell the difference.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
