Is it possible to disable the mouse automatically scrolling the video playback head?
Previous versions of iMovie allowed me to move the mouse without moving the playback head. Doesn't appear possible in '11. Can it be toggled?
Thanks.
LindyNo. If I run the mouse over a video in iMovie, the video automatically scrolls along with the mouse. The audio skimming function (if on) allows me to hear the audio along with the video as it scrolls - a useful feature, but not what I'm trying to fix.
What I'd like to be able to do is turn all of that off so that the only way to play a video is to start it with the space bar.
As it is now, if I select a spot where I'd like to place a marker or split a video, I have to move the mouse in order to initiate the command that I want. But the moment I move the mouse to go to a menu, the video moves to a different place, making the edit more difficult.
iMovieHD ('08) did not have the scrolling function, and while I appreciate the usefulness of having it, I'm struggling with being unable to turn it off. I could play a video to the point where I wanted to edit it, fine tune the playback head location and perform the edit without so much as touching the mouse.
It's not that I'm incapable of doing what I need to do with iMovie the way it is. It just seems a bit tougher to accomplish these things with the scrolling when I don't want it to. Seems like it should be a Preferences setting or something. But I can't find it.
Thanks.

I definitely do not know enough to answer your question.
But on June 14, 2007, Dave Saunders started a topic
(this forum) titled "Am I making progress".
Posts 23 and 32 there could be helpful, but I may
have misunderstood your phrase "tracing the
cursor position".

Is it possible to move the mouse with applescript?
I have a simple applescript program that runs at login to launch movie files in VLC - basically I want the computer to launch into presentation mode. Everything runs smoothly - except that the startup mouse position is over the menu bar, so it won't disappear.
Here's the applescript I'm using:
<code>
tell application "Finder"
open every file of folder "myHD:myfolder"
end tell
</code>
Any tips?Awesome, thanks!
Note that you can't compile an application or run a script from Snow Leopard that uses xtool.osax ( http://lists.apple.com/archives/Applescript-users/2007/Feb/msg00303.html ) However, you can compile a program from Leopard and run that application on a Snow Leopard machine that has xtool.osax installed. Lucky I still have my G5 sitting around still! -
Possible to start the PC via java app?
Hi,
I want to write a program, that can start the pc from suspend mode or sleep mode.
Is this possible? And if true how?
regards
OlekI have created a program in C# that firstly puts the computer in sleep mode after some time and it continues running and if some more time passes it goes into hibernate mode and shuts down...so there must be a way to wake-up the computer from sleep mode from a C# application...that's why I tell you to check on forums.microsoft.com...they have a lot of topics on C# for suspend modes...

Double Click Speed of the mouse
hi,
Can we increase the double click speed of the mouse using Java????
Is there any API available in Java???????
Any help please?????
Thanks,
ManikandanIt may be possible, but most likely not. Double click speed should be platform dependent, like for windows, go to the control panel and then the mouse settings, you'll see that double click speed can be adjusted. So this probably isn't possible, just change it in your operating system's settings.

iPhone 6 page says that iMovie is a (free) application available for iPhone 6. When I use it on the desktop I need a mouse. Should I expect all controls to be touch-sensitive, or is it possible to use the wireless Magic Mouse? Similarly, if I want to type an email or a long document, is it possible to use the Mac wireless keyboard to enter text? With the iPhone 6 Plus taking over for laptops (phablet), it seems to me that input tools are relevant. Maybe what I'm asking is whether the iPhone6 (OS8) has drivers for these devices. Please advise.
Apps that are designed for iOS devices such as the iOS version of iMovie are intended to be used entirely by touch. It's worth noting that iMovie for iOS is not absolutely identical to iMovie for Mac OS.

Is it possible to generate a mouse click at specific coordinates on the stage?
Let's say x = 100 and y = 100. So, I have my main swf file that contains an external swf file with a button. Would it be possible to generate a mouse click on that button?
Any help would be greately appreciated.You don't do it that way - you'd just tell the button to dispatch a CLICK MouseEvent and anything listening for the click would get it... something like:
myButton.dispatchEvent(new Event(MouseEvent.CLICK)); -
I have an array which contains sample points.
I would like to be able to pick exactly one of those points in the graph (using the mouse) and move it to another position.
Thanks
ThomasHi,
It's better to make just one cursor (in case you have an array of let say
200 points), and make it snap to the nearest point. With the event structure
you can read out if the user has clicked in the graph, read out the cursor,
and when the mouse button is released, change the point to the new location.
Regards,
Wiebe.

Is it possible to disable the trackpad when a wireless or usb mouse is present? With Lion 10.7.2, I can not find the checkbox that was there before I installed Lion. Is the option gone on Lion?
There is no BIOS in OS X. There is only the EFI stored in ROM that is not user modifiable. OS X is probably checking Bay 0 for the boot drive since that is where it should be. It won't check the Tempo drive since it is treated like an external drive. I suggest you open Startup Disk preferences to see if the Tempo device is selected as the boot device. If it isn't, then select it. That will probably shave off a few seconds in the startup time.

Is it possible to make flash detect the location of the mouse and....
Hello
I'm looking for a script in AS2 that can detect the location of the mouse and when you leave the zone it trigger an action. This script need to detect the location of the mouse without interference of any other object inside the zone ( that include button ) and without "blocking" those object because of the invisible zone that could be on top of it.
I know the trick about the invisible button where you detect the mouseover with it, when you place it under all your stuff ( so that your mouse can navigate in peace ).
The main probleme will be that tee flash will be smaller than the viewscreen so it need to detect imediatly and at any speed the mouse leaving it's location. So the button trick is a no-go because too slow. Also because the website will need to auto-adapt to your viewscreen.
I need to be able to set the X and Y position of the mouse and i don't know.. does it require to put in the script the boundary location of the zone itself ? left top bottom right side ?
Right now i have a flash of 2000 px large and it is centering itself perfectly, But however, i get a horizontal scrolling bar that i want to get rid off. I am exploring all possible solution.
Dreamweaver forum link : http://forums.adobe.com/thread/613249?tstart=0 about my probleme with more detail. I am considering resizing the flash ( and having to move everything inside it for that... ) down from 2000 to 950px large, So when the user leave the zone inside the flash in a quick move the script need to detect before it leave the flash zone. I know that AS3 so it, but i have no time nor ressource to translate to AS3 the whole flash.
Thanks !Probleme solved without having to change anything in the flash.
The solution was to add a small part in the CSS in HTML
html {
overflow-x: hidden;
overflow-y: auto;
Solve probleme. All browser. VERY usefull to know ! -
Whenever I scroll in a drop down menu in Flash in Firefox (for example, I move the mouse wheel just one detent), it just continues scrolling on its own all the way to the bottom of the list and freezes all interaction for about 10 seconds. It's really bizarre.
If I start click and dragging things, nothing happens, and then all of the sudden everything catches up and moves. As an experienced programmer, I can say that it looks like some kind of queuing of keyboard/mouse events with delayed execution. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
I found something from 2008 that sounds similar, although I am not using the sIFR they mentioned: sIFR mouse wheel scrolling freeze in Firefox - Stack Overflow
Seems to be a Firefox-specific issue, although it also seems to be something that has just recently started occurring since updating Firefox.
UPDATE: I was checking my Firefox version in Help > About Firefox, and it showed version 33, but also had a pending update so I restarted Firefox. The problem was no longer occurring at that point. When I checked the version again, it said 33.0.2, but it also said "applying update", with another pending restart. I restarted Firefox again. It's now stable at version 33.1. So perhaps it was a problem with that particular version, or even a temporary issue with that running browser instance.Hi James,
Thank you for sharing your solution with us. It will help other users with a similar issue.
Thanks,
Preran
