Is it safe to delete driver zip files after driver udpate?

I have recently updated some drivers on my computer and I would like to know if it is safe to delete these zip files once the drivers have actually been installed. There are also some that are just files in the same update folder which are not compressed.

For sure, mate :) You can remove driver zip files from your computers. It's completely safest procedure

  • Unzip issue: Could not delete the zip file after unzip it

    I have issue with the following code, the purpose is to unzip first then delete the zip file. But I could not delete the zip file. When I put a break point before my delete() call, I manually delete it and get the file is used by another process. Please help. Here is my code;
    try{
    File primeZip = new File(dir, fileName);
    ZipInputStream zipStream = new ZipInputStream(new FileInputStream(primeZip));
         ZipFile zf = new ZipFile(primeZip);
         OutputStream out = null;
         for (Enumeration em = zf.entries(); em.hasMoreElements();){
              String fileName = em.nextElement().toString();
              out = new FileOutputStream(fileName );
              byte[] buf = new byte[16384];
              int len;

  • Is it safe to delete the cache file folder from library

    is it safe to delete the cache file folder from library ?

    As I understand it Robo doesn't really 'do' third-party
    source control. We use SourceGear Vault, but really only as a
    repository for the files. We can't really work concurrently because
    Robo needs exclusive access to the top level project files. But it
    kind of works for us, because we're on opposite sides of the globe.
    I see what you're saying on the 'local' versions of (say) the
    cpd files conflicting. If anyone else has an informed view, I'm all
    ears. We've set it up this way ourselves - I don't know of anyone
    doing the same. If someone tells me this is a bad idea, I'm happy
    to think again.
    Cheers!

  • How to delete a jar file after loading image files from it

    Hi,
    How can I delete a jar file after some image files have been loaded? For example, say, I have "a.jar" which contains an image "a.gif" in the root directory of the c drive. I would like to get the image size and then delete the jar file. Here is the code snippet:
        URL url = new URL("jar:file:/C:\\a.jar!/a.gif");
        Icon icon = new ImageIcon(url);
        System.out.println("icon size ? " + icon.getIconHeight());
        File file = new File("c:\\a.jar");
        while(file.exists())
            file.delete();
            try
                Thread.sleep(100);
            catch (InterruptedException ignored)
        System.out.println("file deleted.");I get the image size correctly but just can not delete the jar file. Apparently the file handle is not released, but how to close it? Any hint will be appreciated.
    Justin Jan

    I am sure the URLConnection.defaultUseCaches is set before it is connected otherwise I should catch an IllegalStateException on conn.setUseCaches(false).
            try
                URL url = new URL("jar:file:/C:\\a.jar!/a.gif");
             URLConnection conn = url.openConnection();
               conn.setDefaultUseCaches(false);
             conn.setUseCaches(false);
                Icon icon = new ImageIcon(url);
                System.out.println("icon size ? " + icon.getIconHeight());
                url.openConnection().getInputStream().close();
                System.gc();
             System.runFinalization();
                File file = new File("c:\\a.jar");
                while (file.exists())
                    file.delete();
                    try
                        Thread.sleep(10);

  • How do I automatically delete a .ps file after creating a pdf?

    Hi all! I vaguley remember in the past that there is a preference to automatically delete a .ps file after creating a pdf. Can someone remind me of how to do this? I'm using Distiller version 9.2.0. Thank you so much!
    Julie
    PS: I'm creating the .ps file from Quark 7, if that makes a difference.

    I am unaware of any feature allowing automatic delete of .PS files.
    The adobePDF print driver which has been removed in OSX.6.x (Snow Leopard) That you choose when ina Document would go through the following steps in the background this made it slow.
    create .ps File (hidden)
    Checksum Verify the .ps File
    Open Distiller in background (hidden)
    Create Pdf
    Checksum Verify the .pdf File
    shut down Distiller in Backgroun (hidden)
    Delete .ps File (hidden)
    Pdf suddenly appears
    If at any point in this chain something dies the pdf was not made.
    Actually in prior OS to X.3.x the print driver provided for my Hp Inkjet, it was actually better to go to print menu, and choose save as  postscript, then drop the postsript file on distiller and creat the PDF. or just open the ps in Acrobat.
    with the PRint Drive provided for my HP Inkjet for X.3 it was changed to  create Postcsript file from PDF.  In the start having the PDF button on print menu. The pdf's were not as good as those created in the AdobePDF driver. But were aceptable for most purposes.

  • Is it safe to delete Render Data Files?

    I was working my lower third in Motion and switch between
    Motion and FCPX to see the results. My laptop told me it couldn't save any changes
    because my HD run out of spaces.
    What I found is FCPX keeps all the render data in my project folders. Some render folders
    have several GB of data. I need to delete them to free up some spaces to keep my laptop
    running. (still waiting my LaCie 1TB d2 Qurtra coming in stock, may consider 2TB right now)
    If I delete all Render Data files, am I still able to run my projects?
    Or, deleting render data files just make FCPX render my project files right from the beginning again?
    This's something I consider to do before I get my new external desktop hard drive.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

    It's safe, but I'd suggest using the actual application to do it. In FCPX, go to the project view (command-zero). Select a project, then in the File menu there will be an option to Delete Project Render Files... You can either delete files that are no longer being used, or all render files.
    Deleting all render files just means that next time you open the project, render files will be recreated.

  • Is it safe to delete all PREVIEW files in the FINDER's "All my files"?

    I have > 7,000 files showing in the PREVIEW section of the Finder's ALL MY FILES.  I want to clean up unnecessary and duplicate files - most are photos. I just want to make sure that if I delete these preview files it will not remove the original  file.

    ALL MY FILES is exactly what the name implies — it is a list of all of your files. They are not duplicates (unless you see more than one copy of the same file in the All My Files list). If you delete something from that list, you are deleting the one and only instance of that file.

  • Delete an swf file after download

    This is the situation: after a client load external content
    from an http server into his flash movie, a copy of the
    file for the external content (say, an SWF file) is stored
    in the "Temporary Internet Files" folder.
    To protect the external content, is it possible to
    automatically
    remove this file, after the loading is done? This should of
    course be built into the client movie. Within ActionScript,
    there seems to be no delete file function of any sort.
    Is it possible to do it by loading a javascript or ASP page?
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks for all your answers,
    which have really helped me
    to put things in perspective.
    Let me make the situation more
    explicit. I am going to use
    an empty movieClip as a container.
    All the Flash codes/graphics will be
    loaded dynamically into this
    container during run time from
    a server, with user authentication.
    There are two separate issues:
    (1). Whether the client would
    be able to access these external
    contents on the server, after
    cracking the container swf.
    On the server side, there
    are authentication routines,
    so that a user must be verified
    before he could load any external
    contents. I can hide all related
    scripts/functions on the server
    side (via FMS or http server), so
    that a user does not know what I
    am doing. In fact, I could copy
    to-be-loaded-contents into a scratch
    directory just before loading,
    and then the server side script
    will delete these contents
    after loading. So this
    part should be as safe as my
    authentication method, even if a
    hacker has decompiled my swf.
    (2). Whether the client
    would be able to get hold of
    the contents on his local
    machines, since these
    contents are loaded into
    the container movieClip. This
    part I am not sure. I thought
    that if the files were not saved
    on the disk as temp files and
    if my connection was secured/
    encrypted using https,
    then it would be difficult for
    a client to get hold of the
    content swf files. But you guys
    seem to be saying that a client can
    still get it somehow.

  • Can I delete Adobe downloaded files after installation?

    I've  just successfully installed Production Premium CS6 upgrade to my PC. I still have all of the files downloaded from this installation and previous downloads (LS7.7, set up folders, etc..). I've backed up
    all of these files. Do I still need them on my computer? I'd like to free up the disk space they are taking, I'm assuming they are not used as part of the program. thanks.

    If the install went fine and you backed them up, it is safe to delete them. Just to make sure, I'd start each program. due to licensing restrictions some components only run serialized and if you ever used a trial of any of the products, there may be a "post-install install" required to activate some of these features like e.g. mochaAE. In the past this was the case for all the MPEG CoDecs, also, though that particular limitation should not apply for CS6.

  • Error in opening zip file after Patch 4 HF6 install

    Hello,
    Just upgraded to EP 6 SP 2 Patch 4 HF 6 on a Windows 2000/MSSQL instance.  In the cluster\server\managers\console_logs the error.log now contains the following;

    java.util.zip.ZipException: error in opening zip file.
    I also receive this error message for several other .jar files we've deployed.
    Any ideas what steps need to be taken to correct this message?
    Regards,
    John

    Here is a list of our .zip errors we see.  Two of these files are not 0-byte in length, they have been identified by a size at the end of the file.
    Also, I am checking on the LoggingConsole.  I'll post something when I have an answer.

  • Is it safe to delete iOS update files? (in this case 4.3.4, from DocsAndSets/username/AppData/Apple Computer/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/iPod4,1_4.3.4_8K2_Restore.ipsw)

    Im just updated my iOS on iPod Touch 4 to version 4.3.4, but I do not have enough space on my hard drive to keep this on my PC. Thanks for answer.

    You can, but if you do, the next time you have to restore your device, it'll have to download the software again.

  • Delete old application files  after update?

    I downloaded the 3.4.1 update and want to delete the 3.4 application files to free up more space on my laptop's hard drive.  Is this OK?
    Also, what aboout deleting older versions of catalogs?  Thanks.

    When you update, this removes the previous application files and replaces them with new ones. It will leave an empty folder.
    If you no longer use a particular catalog you can delete it, but make sure you really don't want the catalog any more. Installing an update doesn't change the catalog only the application.
    The only time a new catalog is created by LR (rather than by yourself), is when upgrading (rather than updating) from LR 2 to 3 and in this case LR creates a new catalog from your old one, leaving the old one intact. Once you are happy with everything you can remove the LR 2 catalog. Personally I don't. I kept the LR 1 catalog until LR 3 came out and will keep the LR 2 catalog until LR 4 comes out, but I am cautious like that and have loads of hard drives, so space isn't a problem. I just move the old catalog to a backup location...you never know what is going to happen and I may for some completely unknown reason need it some day..
