Is Native part of the JNI executed in a seperate process space

When a native method call is made from the Java layer to the native layer the method execution happens in the same process space as that of the java or a new process is forked and is executed in the seperate memory space.
The code is working fine on my computer using Windows XP.
But anyway if you want to set the left margin of a TextField use this:

Step 2 means that you run perl, not a "perl dll" via C.
You can do that or at least in the past you could. And that has nothing to do with java nor JNI. So you would learn about it on a perl site.
And I can only note that when I did that a number of years ago it was very difficult. Certainly much harder than getting JNI to work. And you had better have quite a bit of C/C++ experience before you attempt it. -
Why native code outside the VM when I use JNI in web application?
I have a web application by using JBOSS as the server in windows XP environment. I need to call native functions in my servletAction class to check some information. After I start JBOSS and WebServer(tomcat), it works well when I launch the web page to call that native funtions in the first a few times, but after a while when I reopen that page in IE to call native funtions it throws me an unexpected error and shut down the jboss automatically. Could know how to solve it? Thank you guys in advance!

I have a key.java file with several native functions.
In key.cpp I defined the implementation of above functions then created dynamic link library file key.dll. I put the key.dll to WEB-INF/lib/key.dll.

}the error happens in your native-code which runs outside the VM of course, since its native.
You access some memory where you don't have rights to do so, in a normal win32-app you would get the "application crashed at 0xdeadbeef"-window, and since java cannon guarantee that your code did not destroy something it shuts down.
I would try to debug my code withought java in a C++ IDE/Debugger.

I only have 1 vi and its not missing. The 1 vi claims the owning library has blocked the execution of the VI. The class has the error "This VI is part of a LabVIEW class. No part of the class is executable at this time because one of the member VIs is missing. Find the missing member VIs on disk and load them into memory or delete them from the class definition in the project tree."
But there is only 1 member vi!!??
I had lots of other vi's as part of this class but somehow this class got botched with this error. I removed all vi from the directory and from the class definition and re made just the one assessor vi and still got the error message.
I have attached my ridiculously simple class.
I have other classes that work fine but somehow this one seems to have gotten botched. I really need to understand what happened here and how to recover/avoid this error or I will not have the confidence to develop large applications using classes.
In other words...PLEASE HELP!

Delete this block. Make a backup of the file before you do that. Start up LV and load the class again.
My guess is that something probably did not save properly when LV shut down. I have a large OO project and have had more than one occasion where I have corrupted the project but could ot figure out why.
Today I had a similar message which is why your post caught my eye. In doing some troubleshooting I found that it no longer 'knew' where one of my files was but it never complained when it loaded the project. I went back to the original project and tried to open that vi from the project. That is when it told me that the vi was not in the expected location, do you want to correct it. I said yes and all was better.
Trying to open all of the VIs in the class might have worked, but this can be cumbersome to say the least in a large class.

Checking to see if the current User is part of the "Administrator Group"
I am writing an installer for my program - in java - that basically just executes a .jar file. In the past, my software had a disclaimer that just tells the user to make sure that they are an administrator before installing - but we are not currently enforcing that.
So my task is to develop a snippet of code that returns a boolean (true if the user has privileges, false if the user does not). Essentially checking to see if the user is part of the Administrators Group in windows. I created a creative solution for the Unix side of this problem, checking the root group, and some path names for root... but I am stumped on the Windows side of things. I KNOW there is a solution in C, in fact I have already created it (it involves a simple import of windows.h and a static variable check), but I would like a java solution instead.
I have researched a bit in the java.security API and the JNI interface for executing my C code in java... but I would like to post here in case there is a simpler solution that I may be overlooking. The windows platform is XP for the most part, but possibly Vista as well.

Using a dll in the JNI dll defined

I'm new to JNI and I have managed to compile and run a simple Hello world program, now this is my problem:
The C++ code I'm using need to make calls to some dlls (msado15.dll and cdoex.dl) so that I have a function doing this (I have tested the function in pure C++ and it works):

How to select different parts of the text? cmd button no longer does that...
After installing Maverics i can no longer propertly edit my work as I cannot mark different parts of text using cmd button. Shift works as before for highlighting all the text from starting point to selected point but I can no longer use cmd to highlight different areas of the text. Is this an OS bug? Or was the button for selecting different parts of the text changed? I tried everything...
It's just a small part of what makes Pages 5 so "stunning" (Apple's word). You think stripping out the nifty ability to mark non-contiguous passages of text was neat? Sure that was nice. But Apple has gotten rid of more, so much more. And for free!
Just wait till you put the product through its paces and you discover other nice features that are missing, such as (but not limited to):
- no linking of text boxes! Yes, that's right. Now a newsletter that had a "continued on page 6" or whatever will be broken by Pages 5. Stunning! (Even more stunning, Pages 5 will strip out all sorts of formatting from documents created with Pages 4.3 and it will do ao without warning and will save the document in a NEW unified file format so that it cannot be opened by Pages 4.3, thereby potentially losing users hours and hours of work. - Pages 5 has no mail merge, no bookmarks, no images in headers/footers! Pages 4.3 has those features, but this stunning new release removes them.

Showing invisible parts of the document when print is cancelled
The recommended way to hide content of a form designed in LifeCycle Designer 7.0 is to make the non-printable elements invisible in the prePrint event and to show them again in the postPrint event.
When the print is initiated, the respective objects become invisible and they are shown again after the print is executed with OK. However, when the print is cancelled by pressing Cancel, no postPrint event occurs and the objects remain invisible.
We have not found a workaround for this problem which appears to be a major functional issue which makes the advertised way of hiding content for printing not viable. That makes the product unusable for our purposes.
We have also tried to create a layered PDF with InDesign and adding control elements to this document. The plan was to mark some of the layers as non-printable in Acrobat. However, after we added the control elements, saved the file and opened it in Acrobat, all the layers were lost.

1. can you install itunes via the APPLE SOFTWARE updater?
I couldn't so I downloaded ITUNES and tried to install it that way. Hence I got the same error hang as you. Nothing worked, (Multiple attempts at uninstall reinstall, stopping of Services, Reg cleaners etc..)
2. If answer is NO to #1 you must fixe the APPLE SOFTWARE UPDATE Program.
OK so I couldn't find a Download for this. But: if you have WINRAR, open the ITUNES.EXE and extract the APPLESOFTWAREUPDATE.MSI file. Execute the APPLESOFTWAREUPDATE.MSI separately. And you will not be able to install it and have a similar issue as per your Itunes install. This of course leads you to believe that the Itunes.exe install is also installing all of these components including the applesoftwareupdate silently. It must BOMB at that portion of the install and you are done.
3. Your goal now is to get the applesoftwareupdate installed. How do you do this. Well - here is what I did.
a. downloaded and RUN a PC Installer FIX it tool from Microsoft. This is a replacement for the older MSI fixer they used to use.

b. It will list programs to attempt to fix.
choose AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi
c. Once it is done, then reinstall apple program updater using
AppleSoftwareUpdate.msi
Finally it should install since the Microsoft tool appraently fixed corrupted installation files in your registry for this application.
(Please note: that I also disabled any apple related services such as BONJOUR or IPOD DEvice RUN: services.msc to get there - although this man not be necesarry.)
Hence Launch this APPLE UPDATE SOFTWARE (Click the ICON in your Start menu) it should list ITUNES
select ITUNES from here and it will update.
KEY HERE is to ONLY UPDATE APPLE Stuff via the APPLE SOFTWARE UPDATE program. If that program is not working fix it. Then Bingo.
I am sorry to see folks having this problem for weeks.
APPLE, Spread the word. PC's can get corruption in the registry on your product should the update be stopped or computer shut off during an update. etc... Please improve your software updater program to check for invalid registry upon launching the app. This will prevent people thinking it is an APPLE issue. It appears to be a problem on your PC's registry settings for the APPLE Software update.

What can I do about "LabVIEW load error code 38: Failed to uncompress part of the VI."
While attempting to load an executable LabVIEW application for LabVIEW 2009 SP1 on a Windows-XP machine when the following pop-up message occurs. "LabVIEW: Memory or data structure corrupt. An error occurs in loading VI 'NI_Gmath.lblib: Backward Bracket Search.VI'. LabVIEW load error code 38: Failed to uncompress part of the VI. The VI is most likely corrupt." What seems odd is that the same LabVIEW application loads fine when logged on as a privileged user account, but fails to load on a private user account.

So when something is decompressed, a temp folder is often used.
I have no idea why LabVIEW would be decompressing anything, but I suspect it is trying to put the decompressed file into a temp folder where the user does not have write permissions.
In the .ini file for your executable, you can add a line that specified the location of the temp folder to use:
tmpdir=C:\Temp
On my Win7 machine, the location is:
C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Local\Temp
On WinXP, it is probably:
C:\Documents And Settings\YourUserName\local settings\temp
Try changing the tmpdir key in your ini file to something to C:\Temp and see if that helps.

How to wait until the 1st part of the processing is done
Hi,
I had a hard time to combine two parts of processing in one .vi file, and thus would like to get some advice/help through the forum.
Attached is the partial finished vi file I made. You can see that it is composed of two parts. The upper part is to run a bat file (check_result.bat), which generates a result.txt file. The lower part is to use the result.txt file as an input file, and check if the key word called "test case passed" is included in the result.txt file or not. So I want to run the upper part firstly, and then run the lower part after the upper part is finished.
However, I don't know how to connect the two parts in a right way that the lower part only starts running after the upper part is finished. Any comments/help is highly appreciated.

All you need is a data dependency between the two parts. Often critical parts of each section contain error terminals, so you can just string em along in the proper order and each part must wait until the previous node has finished.
In your particular case, the read operation has no error input, so you can recruit any other input. Create a fake data dependency by strategically placing a small sequence frame containing common code. The sequence cannot start until all code that provides imputs has finished, serving your purpose.
Of course it seems silly to even try to read the file if the previous node failed. Right? So simply place the second part inside a case and hook it up to the error output. Now the second part (1) waits until the first part has finished AND (2) execute only of the first part succeeded. No sequence needed.
All clear?

SSIS - creating part of the file name from an id in the database
I am trying to figure out how to pull an "id" from my data source to include in the file name. Right now the file name created looks like customer_002_timestamp.txt. I need to add the id to the file name and I need to grab it at the time I get
the data, so then the file name becomes customer_002_id_timestamp.txt.
My data source is Oracle and I am using Attunity, so I do not have the capability of using the resultset found in the SQL Task because I have to use the data task.
Has anyone ever extracted an id from a query against Oracle using the Attunity connector to add as part of the file name? If so, how would I add that to my control flow task?

Then you can just use a SSIS variable to hold value from resultset in execute sql task
Then inside your data flow you can use an expression for setting value of another variable which can be used for setting filename in your destination task. The expression will include logic to concatenate id variable also which we populated in the previous
step.

Which libraries depend on the JNI?
Wondering if any1 knew where i could find some list of libraries which depend on the JNI and hence vwould not be fully portable across JVM's.
I am trying to distinguish between fully portable libraries (e.g. pure java code) and libraries which would need some re-write to operate on different JVM's.
Or does anyone know HOW i mite find this out?

Interval Timing Issue On Solaris 10/Intel When The JNI Is Involved
We've observed an odd behavior bridging to interval timers over the JNI on Solaris 10/Intel, and I was wondering if anybody here has ever seen anything like this.
We have an interval timing facility that's implemented over a small set of platform-dependent native timing facilities. The *NIX "itimer" facility is used wherever it exists. On RedHat/Fedora we also implement a timer over the RTC device. On Windows we use a WaitableTimer.
On all platforms there's a Java class that bridges to an appropriate timing facility via the JNI, and to date this has worked great on all platforms except for Solaris 10 on Intel. By "worked great" I mean that the clock tics end up being almost exactly what we expect for a given configured Hz update rate. So... e.g. if we set up a timer for 50 Hz, then we actually get 50 Hz +/- some minor variation much less than 1 second.
On Solaris 10/Intel we set up a 50 Hz itimer in a plain-vanilla C app and we get ~50 Hz, but if we call the same C code from Java via the JNI we almost always end up with ~38Hz.
The amount of Java and native code involved is almost trivial, and the hardware is a smoking fast contemporary PC. We ran over the itimer facility on an old Sparc 5 box and it worked fine.
I've tried tweeking sundry esoteric -X and -XX JVM invocation options with no effect.
J2SDK 1.4.2-07 in all cases.
Thoughts?I'd think you should be posting in the forum for the Solaris 10 os, not a Java forum. Maybe someone in the Java Native Methods forum would have the necessary Solaris 10 expertise, also.
