Is Role blocking possible?

Hi All,
There are many derive roles created in development and moved to quality and production environment.
1.Now is it possible to block selected bulk of roles for user assignment ?(So that these set of roles can not be assigned to any user in quality and production)
2.Also One should not be able to transport these set of bulk roles from development system to the other systems ?
Thanks in advance.

HI All,
Thanks for your response
See I can restrict role assignment.... by restricting particular consultant authorization in that case I will have to change authorization of large number of users (SAP security consultant)who have authorization to assign all roles right now.
I am looking solution at role level so that a consultant's authorization will not be changed
And smiler case with roles transport a consultant can make roles Transport request  but those particular roles could not be attached to Transport request.
There are around 3000 roles which should not be assigned to any end user and will be used later in business
and roles which can be assigned are more then10,000
If we see objects S_USER_GRP, S_USER_AGR there is Role Name field  is not taking  range like IN54 to IN90
So is it possible to make individual entry of more then 10,000 roles in field Role name( ACT_GROUP)

  • Hiding buttons based up on business role; Is possible by the BASIS?

    Hi Experts,
    I have done one enhancement for hiding the buttons according to Business role using coding but it was not possible for all the desired buttons since I couldnu2019t find out relevant internal tables for the buttons.
    Now we are planning to do the same activity by the BASIS help.
    Are Hiding buttons based up on user or business role can be possible by the BASIS activity like authorization object to handle the drop downs based up on roles .
    If possible please suggest me the way out to resolve the issue using any kind of BASIS activity.
    Thanks
    Chand

    Hello,
    I do not think that the BASIS can help you in deleting/hiding buttons from the UI. Generally, the buttons are stored in the GT_BUTTON/GT_BUTTONS attribute of the overview view/viewset controller. In some cases it may be hard coded inside the htm page as well in the form of HTML tags.
    We'd definitely need to do some programming to achieve the functionality you are looking for, Also remember it is different for different views. You need to find out the view that has the buttons.
    Do a F2 on your UI screen to find out the details of the screen.

  • I want to block or possible delete the personal hotspot feature from an iPhone 5

    I Have an iphone 5 on a verizon network plan in which I would like to block/ possibly delete the personal hotspot feature. I have a person on my family plan that is eating up all the data using personal hotspot to get internet on an iPad. I still want this person to have access to  4G for gps/emailing purposes, I just don't need him eating up all the data using the personal hotspot feature. So, does anybody know how to block it or restrict the use of it? I've already tried looking on the iphone itself, but no luck. Looked on Verizon website, no such thing either. Any help is appreciated!!

    Call Verizon and ask them to block the feature as sberman suggests. You can't access all features from the website. Some of them require that you talk to a rep.

  • How to Default what fields and assignment blocks appear for every user?

    Is there a standard way to default what users see in the webui? We'd like to display certain assignment blocks, fields, etc without having the user go thru the personalization process. There are certain pieces we need to display across the board for every user and would like to set this up in advance of them logging into the WebUI.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi James,
    With the business roles you can define what the user is allowed to see or do and not.
    So you create your special user business role e.g. Z_USER_SALESPRO and then you can create a business role specific configuration of the views (add/ remove fields) or overview pages (add/remove assignment blocks).
    If you want to you can also deny user with this business role the possibility to personalize their pages at all.
    If you want to show information to all user in the same way then just maintain the default configuration in the enhanced component. As the WebUI always looks for the most specific key found within the configurations available.
    Please make sure you work in default configuration of the enhanced component, else you change SAP standard cheat sheet.
    Hope this helps.
    Best regards,

  • FPN - error trying to lookup object - remote role assignment not working

    Hello everyone,
    We have implemented a Federated Portal Network connection in our landscape between our portals.
    We use only remote role assignment functionality.
    Everything was working fine, but since 2 days we encounter the following error in the Default trace.
    Error trying to lookup object: alias: <role name>
    It is possible to open the producer portal in the Portal Content Administration and also searching for the Producer portal roles is possible in User administration. But when we assign the remote role the tab is not displayed in the portal only the above mentioned error is shown in the default trace. Our portals run SP 12 and BI Java SP14.
    Is there a solution or workaround for this issue ?
    Martin

    Hi,
    I have the same issue as you, I cannot see role tabs in Consumer portal and I get the same error in the defaulttrace as you.
    What did you do to resolve this issue?
    Many thanks

  • Making existing roles watertight for HR data

    Hello,
    I hope to get nudged in the right direction in here. I already descended pretty much to the end of my rope and ... well ... I need some more rope
    The situation is like this - I inherited everything that has to do with maintenance of authorizations on our system half a year ago, the guy that did that before me is no longer in the company (so there's no use in asking what he was thinking (if anything) when he was putting the roles together). Documentation is scarce/non-existing. When it exists it's usually not up to date. I'm not exactly a newbie in authorizations field, but at the same time I'm not really that far away from being a newbie yet, so I'm not beyond listening to basics being pointed out to me.
    <u>The Utopia</u>:
    There are five single roles built for all users of our system (say R1, R2, ... , R5). They're supposed to build on one another, R1 being the basic role, R2 having a couple more authorizations than R1, and so on until R5 which is the role that also has all HR authorizations.
    <u>The Reality</u>:
    The roles have been designed in a hurry and from the top down starting with the sap_all profile and removing some (or most of the) CA, BC and HR authorizations. They were not properly tested. They do not derive from one another in any way ... R2 for example is a complete copy of R1 with some additional objects and values, same for all the others. Every problem needed to be fixed five times, once for every role. That of course resulted in chaos, things got changed just in one place and the basic role suddenly got more powerful than all the rest. These roles are in use in the production system and there are no plans to substitute them with something better in the very near future.
    <u>The Problem</u>:
    Suddenly (yeah, right ) the need arose to have these roles watertight with regard to HR data. I did some rudimentary testing and sure enough they're nowhere near watertight even for the most common HR transactions. There are ranges defined in S_TCODE for which I have no idea why they are as they are, there was access to SA38 given where SAP HR programs with no authorization group (and no transaction code) assigned could be run by everyone ... there's god knows how many other security holes. The only help I got from the HR consultants was the list of all 2000 or so HR transactions (taken from the SAP menu tree) which shouldn't be accessible to a normal user. I suspect I might be in need of a typing monkey to check them all five times
    <u>Question</u>:
    How do I close as many security holes in these roles as possible? What's the strategy when dealing with such tasks? I've made it clear to the management that we probably won't have watertight roles if we don't create new ones, but making a set of new roles created properly from the bottom up is out of the question at this moment.
    I'd be extremely grateful for any advice or if anyone could point me to any kind of documentation about making roles like ours more secure for protecting HR data (and also keeping the users away from any BC stuff).
    In the meantime, I'm off to searching through the archives of the forum.

    Mopping the floor with the water running is a spot on description
    Actually we're in the process of setting up new and improved authorizations but (of course!) the testing phase turned out to be much more time consuming than anticipated. No surprise to me, however someone obviously thought authorizations are a matter of defining roles and their menus and the system does everything else by itself. Riiight.
    What I did so far - first I educated myself on the specifics of HR authorizations. I never had to deal with those before, so (for example) it was a surprise to me that there's actually a separate SAP course dealing with HR authorizations Then I compared the existing roles to each other like you suggested and figured out a way that allowed me to do all the modifications with least amount of work. I cleaned most of the infotypes out of P_ORGIN and (to cover my behind), adjusted the ranges in S_TCODE to exclude the 2000 HR transactions our HR consultant listed for me.
    Most importantly - I made it clear to the guys above me, that with the roles we use I can't guarantee HR data to be inaccessible for people who should stay away from it. So ... back to the testing of the new authorizations
    Thanks for your help! It always makes a huge difference to get something like a second opinion when one can't decide if left is better than right or if it's the other way around.

  • Assigning the role to the group using MAXL

    Hi,
    We are using Essbase 11.1.1.3 and Hyperion Financial Reports 11.1.13.
    I have created a role called "Standard_user_HFR" in shared Services and assgined Explorer and viewer to the role and i need to assign the role to the groups and i have around 1600 groups to which i have assign the role. Is there any Maxl Script to assign the role to the groups. As of now i am manually adding the role to the group.
    Regards,
    VJ

    Also look into Aggregated Roles to possibly reduce the number of Groups.
    Oracle states:
    Aggregated roles, also known as custom roles, aggregate multiple predefined application roles. An aggregated role can contain other aggregated roles. For example, a Shared Services Administrator or Provisioning Manager can create an aggregated role that combines the Planner and View User roles of a Oracle Hyperion Planning, Fusion Edition, application. Aggregating roles can simplify the administration of applications that have several granular roles. Global Shared Services roles can be included in aggregated roles. You cannot create an aggregated role that spans applications or products.
    Thank you,

  • Strange block prefetch patterns in 11g

    Hi.
    I've detected that Oracle 11g is able to prefect blocks when using table access by index rowid. This is great for datawarehouses (DWH), but when/how Oracle uses block level prefetching is not clear.
    This problem really affects performance on 11g datawareshouses as the results can be very different.
    So far, where's what I've found (these results where collected for empty buffer caches):
    Oracle is able to prefetch index and table blocks when doing table access by index rowid even if there's no nested loop join batching
    After a tablespace being created, nested loops on table/index in the tablespace are done using single block reads (db file sequential read). This only goes away after the DB is bounced. Neither gathering statistics nor flushing buffer_cache/shared_pool solves the problem.
    After the DB is bounced, when doing nested loops access by rowid, the first block of each extent is read using single block reads and the remaining of the extent is prefetched using 'db file scattered read' up to the end of the extend or DBFMRB (assuming the data is packed together sequentially in the extents)
    Next time the data is requested from that extent, all data from table/index is read using db file scattered reads,  there are no longer single block reads for the extent header block.
    Forcing full scans on index and tables is enough for Oracle to cache (somewhere) the extent header information. Flushing the cache/shared_pool will not invalidate that information and prefetches will read all extent wihout single block reads for the header block.
    Where's how I've reproduced the problem, on Oracle 11.2.0.1.0, Windows 7 64 bits with local disks (no ASM), 8K block size, .
    Creating a table+index in a 128K tablespace (each segment will have 16 blocks). The data in the table is sorted by ID, so filtering by ID will return the least number of block possible and all blocks are consecutive:
    CREATE TABLESPACE TS_128K DATAFILE  'd:\ORADATA\TESTE\TS_128K_002.DBF' SIZE 500M AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 100M MAXSIZE UNLIMITED LOGGING ONLINE PERMANENT
    EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 128k
    SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT MANUAL ;
    create table T tablespace TS_128K nologging as
    select mod(rownum, 1e2) id, lpad('x', 1, 'x') x
    from dual connect by level <= 1e6
    order by id;
    create index IDX_T on T(id) tablespace TS_128K nologging compress;
    exec dbms_stats.gather_table_stats(user, 'T', estimate_percent=>null,method_opt=>'for all columns size 1')
    Read the data from table using the index:
    alter session set db_file_multiblock_read_count = 128 ;
    alter system flush buffer_cache;
    alter system flush shared_pool;
    select count(length(x)) from T where id between 10 and 16 ;

    Can anyone explain the rules for block prefetching/batching ? This is happening even without the query plan using nested loop batch joins as you can see in the plan above.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I don't think you should expect db file scattered read waits with TABLE ACCESS BY ROWID -- this is not the normal behavior. I think the only reason you're getting them after you bounce the database is because Oracle "sees" that the buffer cache is empty and wants to fill it using multiblock reads -- so multiblock reads don't help the performance of this particular query, rather, they're supposed to help the global database performance.
    Did you measure elapsed time in both cases?
    Best regards,
      Nikolay

  • Repeated Opp Contact with different Buying Role

    My business need calls for an Opportunity to have the same Opportunity Contact with more than one Buying Role. For example, Opportunity ABC needs to have Joe Smith as the Architect and again as the Designer. With about a dozen Buying Role values and all combinations of role values possible, I don't want to define all the role combinations. As delivered, the application prevents a Contact from having more than one Buying Role on a given Opportunity.
    I'm thinking about using a custom object with the Name field being an expression that concatenates Opportunity Name, Contact Name, and Buying Role. Is this possible? Reasonable?
    Open to other ideas to meet the need.
    Regards,
    Jeff

    Custom Objects tend to come up short. In this case, I originally wanted the Name to be the Contact's name. I've not found a way to make that happen and I can't expect the user to set it. On the related list display, I can choose to not display the Name and instead display the Contact name. Name is still required. I could fill it with a Function value such as Timestamp. For a related list you get the Add and New buttons. User's still don't get those straight. The display for Add is just too confusing for the user, so I tell them to always us New. Is there a way to remove Add?
    SFDC has a data type known as Look-up which lets you construct links between objects without using an intermediate custom object. For example, you want to indicate the "Project Lead" contact on an Opportunity. That same person can also be listed as a Contact with a Buying Role, so the related list isn't sufficient. In CRMOD, a custom object is necessary. While this type of custom object is easy on the user, but an admin type of user needs to populate the CO. For the user to actually get to the, you need to click through the intermediate object. Plus, you still have the challenge of setting the Name field. The Name is the displayed hyper-link, so you need to have a logical value. Anybody have luck using a function to set the value? I'd like it to be the Contact's name.

  • BP Role field in UI

    Hi
    In UI i need to create BP with roles Prospect and SP. But i am not able to find BP Role field in UI .
    Please let me know how to over come from  this problem.
    Thanks In Advance
    Regards
    Ahmed

    Hi Ahmed,
    You would need to add this assignment block to the UI.
    To do this, click on the 'Personalize' button ( you can see this as a small square on the right side of the screen - beside the Print and Help buttons ).
    On clicing the personalize button, a pop up opens that show you all the available assignment blocks and displayed assignment blocks. Just select the 'Roles' block, and then transfer it to the right side column using the 'Move to right' button.
    Then press Save / Apply .
    This will add the Roles assigment block to the UI.
    Best Regards,
    Rishu.

  • Restriction for items from Purchase Order based on Sale Order

    Hi !
           We create PO directly from Sale Order ( by ticking Option under Logistic tab, 'Purchase Order') for customer C01 (for eg).
    From the PO created, we post GRPO.
    Now our need is,
    Assume if 10 Qty is been ordered in such a way and been received (GRPO posted). it 'll add on to the stock account i.e will increase stock qty at our whse.
    is it possible to restrict these 10 qty of item from being sold to any other Customer other than whom hav ordered i.e if we create sale order for C02 the SBO should not take the items received from PO created based on Sales Order created for C01?
    Meera.

    Meera,
    Which version of SBO are you using 2005 or 2007?
    I don't think Serial numbers can help in this scenario.  There is no hard allocation or blocking possible using Serial numbers.
    This is the Work around I am thinking about.
    Set the items to be Batch Managed - On Every Transaction
    When performing Goods Receipt, enter the Sales Order Number as the Batch Number
    When creating the delivery, using SBO_SP_TransactionNotification we can easily check the Batch of the Item being selected and verify it with the BaseRef of Delivery lines to match with Sales Order number.
    If the numbers don't match we can warn user with message, "The items batch reserved for Sales Order xyz"
    Even if you make a mistake when entering the batch number same as Sales Order number when doing a goods receipt. It can still be traced and blocked during delivery.
    Hint: The Batch table records the Goods Receipt transaction along with the BaseDocument number, Base Ref, etc
    If you decide to go this route, I could help you further.
    Let me know
