Is safari allowed in a commercial environment ?

Hi,
I'd like to know if I MAY use Safari for windows at my firm, that is in a
commercial environment. I use it to check the websites we build in Safari,
hoping that if the site is good on Safari for windows,it will be so on a mac too.
The license says you SHOULD not use it in a commercial environment, but perhaps
it's because Apple wants to limit the warranties on beta software.
So may I use it in a commercial environment ?
thanks,
Giacomo

Of course you can. The license is only suggesting that it might not be wise to rely on beta software in a business setting. It's not wise to rely on beta software in any setting, really, and nearly all beta software comes with some kind of caveat to that effect. Apple doesn't restrict in what environments you MAY use their software, though. That's up to you.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware. Follow Apple Support's instructions to remove it.
If you have trouble following those instructions, see below.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. This procedure works as of now, as far as I know. It may not work in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for a more recent discussion, or start a new one.
The VSearch malware tries to hide itself by varying the names of the files it installs. To remove it, you must first identify the naming pattern.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for two files with names of the form
              com.something.daemon.plist
    and
               com.something.helper.plist
Here something is a variable string of characters, which can be different in each case. So far it has always been a string of letters without punctuation, such as "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," or "trusteddownloads." Sometimes it's a meaningless string such as "e8dec5ae7fc75c28" rather than a word. Sometimes the string is "apple," and then you must be especially careful not to delete the wrong files, because many built-in OS X files have similar names.
If you find these files, leave the LaunchDaemons folder open, and open the following folder in the same way:
    /Library/LaunchAgents
In this folder, there may be a file named
              com.something.agent.plist
where the string something is the same as before.
If you feel confident that you've identified the above files, back up all data, then drag just those three files—nothing else—to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Close the Finder windows and restart the computer.
Don't delete the "LaunchAgents" or "LaunchDaemons" folder or anything else inside either one.
The malware is now permanently inactivated, as long as you never reinstall it. You can stop here if you like, or you can remove two remaining components for the sake of completeness.
    Open this folder:
    /Library/Application Support
If it has a subfolder named just
               something
where something is the same string you saw before, drag that subfolder to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Application Support" folder or anything else inside it.
    Finally, in this folder:
    /System/Library/Frameworks
there may an item named exactly
                v.framework
It's actually a folder, though it has a different icon than usual. This item always has the above name; it doesn't vary. Drag it to the Trash and close the window.
Don't delete the "Frameworks" folder or anything else inside it.
If you didn't find the files or you're not sure about the identification, post what you found.
If in doubt, or if you have no backups, change nothing at all.
The trouble may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Then, still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • Why does not safari allow to keep the zoom level over the whole website? This is universal problem for all ipad browsers.

This is a big problem on sites like Tomshardware and Sweclockers and probably many more that Safari is not capable of keeping the zoom level the same over all website pages. And it makes the browsing experience on the IPAD an annoyance.
You have to constantly double tap to see the website clearly for each webpage load. There should be settings to allow to remember the zoom level
for a whole website. So you don't have to double tap on every new page of the website.
The other browsers like ICAB and Mercury are not handling this any better and seem to be limited by the webkit rendering options available.
It's instantly visible on Sweclockers and it becomes a problem on tomshardware when you click on a review link.
I have included pictures here that showcase the problem.

  • Safari allows 3rd party cookies and all cookies even when prefernces are set to "never allow" with Mac os 10.6.8

safari ALWAYS allows 3rd party cookies and all cookies even when set to "block cookies: always" and "from 3rd party and advertisers."  I have removed the website data, emptied the cache, reset safari, erased the history and it STILL dumps cookies.  (For example, if I go to the usgov weather website only I end up with 11 cookies, the top one being "addthis.com" listed as cashed in local storage.  But didn't I just empty the cache... multiple times??? Is my Safari application "broken" or "corrupt."  Can the application be renewed so that it actually does what it is commanded to do?

    Not using any extensions, Andy.
Allowed a guest account and tested that.  Lots of cache/cookies showed up for my "guest" that on face value, appeared 3rd party:  the familiar "addthis.com" cache and others including a facebook cache and I did not, nor have ever, participated in facebook. But it could be that the "trusted" site my virtual guest visited had a relationship with facebook such that my COMPUTER "friended" facebook even though my guest and I most certainly would have declined the invitation :-)  But what I really don't get is why washington post cookies keep showing up every single time.  Isn't that the absolute definition of 3rd party cookies?!
    forgive my rant.
On the other hand, when I logged out as guest, all data was automatically deleted, and when I relogged in as guest, it appeared that all the data, including cached data, had indeed been deleted.  But when I relogged in as myself, the same old garbage reappeared in the cache and cookie bin. The fact is, there appears to be no such thing as truly and completely emptying ones cache, resetting ones browser, or deleting ones cookies. They are here to stay.
(And, oh yes, I have tried logging out, turning off and on the computer right after performing emptying tasks, etc.)

  • Safari allowing large numbers of cookies

Safari seems to be allowing a relatively large number of third party cookies, despite the fact that I have it set to not allow them.
I just upgraded to mountain lion a few weeks ago and have been using chrome, but when I realized I couldn't use some programs due to chrome being 32 bit, i switched to the new safari and have been pleasantly surprised, except for the fact that if i visit a small number of sites, 80 different websites have stored cookies. If i select block all, half of the websites don't work, and I still get about 12-15 cookies.
I looked through and saw that some others were having this problem as well. is there anyway to fix this? Can we contact apple directly? (I can't seem to find a way to contact them about safari. if anyone has suggestions I'm all ears.

    Cookies proliferation is an annoyance.
    For Safari feedback.

  • Airprint slow to spool-in commercial environment

    Hello,
I am trying to get my ipad to work a commercial kitchen environment- in the kitchen's office- in place of a laptop.
We have 2 Airprint enabled printers and both take a long time 2-5 minutes, for the documents to print.
Both printers' firmware has been upgraded.
How do I troubleshoot this? thanks
    Laura

Apps, several and all are about the same, dropbox is the worst, then pages, then Paprika Recipe Manager.
The printers are HP LaserJet P1102w Printer which I actually hardcoded the ip address on per HP's website and in desparation went and bought a HP Photosmart 5520, both which are on the 'list'.
The restaurant uses Qwest (now called Century Link) and I am not there right now but quessing their modem is thier router. I know they have a switch in the main office, then another netgear switch in the kitchen hooked up to a round thing that looks like a smoke alarm (not an old airport)-
which I was told was so thier wireless was stronger.
My guess is something to do with this whole configuration also.
I just don't know how to figure it all out. I know you can 'log' into the router but I don't know what I am looking for.
what would make the network take so long to resolve the bonjour connection?
Thanks for any help-I like learning these new things.

  • LightDM-devel does not allow to change desktop environment

    Hi,
I'm new to Arch and I'm trying LightDM under systemd as my display manager. I don't know if this is the right place to ask about it, since it involves a package from AUR but if anyone can help me, I'll appreciate it.
I am currently using XFCE4 as my desktop environment. Since I need to switch user and language quite often, the current LightDM version available in pacman does not work for me since it has a bug that prevents it from reading the language selection correctly (https://bugs.launchpad.net/lightdm/+bug/1019314). Therefore, I'm trying the development version available in AUR which corrects the language problem but introduces a new one.
Because I am new to systemd and LightDM, I'm afraid I have ask the following newbie question. On the first time that I log in, I am able to select language and desktop environment but if I log out and try to log in again, I notice a few strange things. First of all I see that the user name is in bold letters, as if the user would be still logged in. I also notice that I am not longer able to change my desktop session or language, but if I select another user I am able to do it (unless of course, I have already logged in witht this second user, in which case the problem is the same). If I reboot or restart lightdm, I am able once again to select session and language but just like before, only once until next restart. Is this the normal behaviour of lightdm or should i report this as a bug?
Please, let me know if I'm omitting any important information regarding my system or configuration that may be responsible for this behaviour.

    Hello Liza,
    Did you try my solution?
[Re: Change source system name in variant in BWQ]
There are solutions to change variants properties, but that particular program has the logsys parameter not able to change, so you cannot change the value of that variant (only with debug).
It's best to go for that solution I already provided to you...

  • Limit on what Safari allows downloadable?

I do a lot of podcast & mp3 radio downloading from websites that are avaiable through iTunes. But I've noticed a couple of things (1) I'm only able to download 4 files at a time no matter what there size is. (2) when downloading 4 files each tranfers roughly at 25kb per sec, but when one of them finishes the other 3 remain at a transfer rate of 25kb. Why wouldn't this change (increase)? Is this a Safari issue? Is there a setting that I'm overlooking?
    Thanks

It's something I've always experienced with large mp3 downloads (radio show-podcasts that exceed 1 hour). All my small song downloads are through iTunes, and I've never tried to download more than one software app at a time.
I'm going to run a couple of tests on it I've got some ideas. Then maybe I'll repost if I can't figure it out.
I never really thought of it being an ISP issue, so I'm thankful for that suggestion. Though I've have expreienced it with at least 2 different broadband ISP's, but they were both 500kbps packages so that doesn't necessarily mean it's not an ISP issue.
But as far as you know there shouldn't be anything within OSX or Safari which would be responsible for this?
    Thanks

  • I get "bad request error 400" when I try to log on to my gmail account. Safari allows me to access the account. What's the problem?

I cannot open my gmail account on Firefox as of yesterday. I get, instead, Bad request Error 400. This is a recent devlopment and rather annoying. Safari works fine.

    You're welcome

  • Why can't Safari allow icons in toolbar like FF has?

I really want to optimize my toolbar more efficiently with Safari like
I have with FireFox and free up some real estate. Seems like Apple
would support something like this (screen shot at following URL):

Safari doesn't support these types of toolbars. No developer has ever offered one, so I suspect Safari's program code cannot accommodate alterations of this nature.
I suggest sending feedback to Apple via the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple option. This is the most direct way to send info to Safari programmers.

  • Image upload safari ios6 issue -file name always image.jpg

I could not wait for ios6 when I found out safari allowed for image / photo upload through safari web forms.
I tested and see the image in form..hit submit and it uploads with the file name image.jpg
Do it again and same file name for a different photo. This is completely useless. If I upload to my website it just overwrites. 99% of the masses need a unique name, when uploading. Why can it now use the file name in the photos folder?
Even emailing them out it holds a generic name.
Looks like an easy fix...insert file name not default name. Lets fix this Apple..or your new feature is as worthless as not having it at all.
Disappointed to say the least...no I am dumbfounded.

@kdmasterdas: How did you rename the file??
It really *** that Apple is not fixing this problem while it's a big problem, especially in a business environment.

  • Apache and IIS for commercial use

Can I use this module in my webapplication ? Is it allow to
    use in commercial environment?

I'm not the authority here but I do NOT think you can use it
    commercially for the following reasons...
    The End user Agreement clause
    - 2. says " ..License is granted to a personal, limited,
nonexclusi\ve, roytalty free license for purpose of EVALUATING the
    software..."
    - 2.1.1 says "This package does NOT contain the open source
    version of the FLex SDK"
Section 1.5 defines "Internal Network" as one that excludes
the internet - but there is no mention in the licensing document
that prohibits use the software on the internet for personal
evaluation purposes. I may have to read it wrong but that is what I
    inferred...
Anyway, a lawyer and a couple of hundred dollars may give you
    the right answer!
    Cheers!

  • How to fix "no valid 'aps-environment' entitlement string found for application"?

I am trying very very hard to create a simple simple iOS app which can recieve push notifications.  My only reason for doing this is to establish a procedure for some other team members to use.  Our shop is fairly new to iOS dev, I personally am completely inexperienced with iOS dev and Xcode.  I've stumbled through tens of tutorials, articles, and trouble posts from Apple and elsewhere and I feel like I'm nearly there.  Here is where I've got to (note I'm using Xcode 4.3 and trying initially to deploy just to iOS 5.1, and I gather that some things may have changed recently vs earlier versions of Xcode, but again I'm new to all this -- and finding it completely confusing and convoluted):
    1. I've got a provisioning profile on my iPhone which has Push enabled
    2. In my test Xcode project I've got that provisioning profile selected as the signing identity (in Build Settings > Code Signing)
    3. I've got my bundle identifier under Summary and Info > Custom iOS Target Properties set properly* (I think??)
    4. I've got registerForRemoteNotificationTypes being called in my delegate's didFinishLaunchingWithOptions
    5. I've got didRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithDeviceToken and didFailToRegisterForRemoteNotificationsWithError in my delegate, set up to log the device token or error respectively
    6. I've got Enable Entitlements checked under Summary.
    7. Right below that the Entitlements File selected is Tinker6 (the name of my project), which was generated automatically when I checked Enable Entitlements
    8. In the Tinker6.entitlements file I've got the following (which I've gathered is correct based on several different posts all over the web, but which I can't find anything definitive from Apple itself on):
When I attempt to run this on my device, I get the following error in Xcode output:
    2012-06-11 12:45:23.762 Tinker6[13332:707] Failed to get token, error: Error Domain=NSCocoaErrorDomain Code=3000 "no valid 'aps-environment' entitlement string found for application" UserInfo=0x24a3b0 {NSLocalizedDescription=no valid 'aps-environment' entitlement string found for application}
I've tried setting get-task-allow to NO, aps-environment to production, all four possible combinations, same thing.
How can I get past this?  Where is definitive documentation on this?
    -- further background follows --
*As far as the bundle id, I am still not clear on how this should be set in relation to App Ids and Profile ids in the Provisioning profile.  In the Provisioning portal under App Ids I have this (I've scrambled the number and domain but otherwise structurally will be the same):
And the two places bundle id is set I have this:
I am not at all sure these are correct or whether one or both should be set to 12355456A7.com.whatever.tinker, though I've tried those earlier in the process with no success...

Solution: startover, do everything exactly the same (but with new IDs and certs for everything), and it worked.

  • How to delete individual entries in safari

    hello people,
i would like to delete some of my entries in safari. safari allows only to delete all of them. but i want to keep some
in firefox i can deleted them by pushing "shift+del"
here is a picture of an example.
    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/37/ohnetitelz.jpg/
so does anyone know how to do that or is that not possible in safari?

Right. On IPad I can't delete individual items in the Safari browser history, but I can on my macbook. Since purchasing my new IPad Retina, I feel like I'm retrograding when I come across these simplistic uses of software.
How do I put this user-friendly suggestion to Apple?
