Is there a fade in/out time limit or am I missing something?

Hi!
I'm trying to make a 25 second long fade out on a track by using the fade tool. All I can get is a lousy 10 sec. I tried doing a long fade in on another track and I didn't get further than 10 sec as well...
Is this normal? Or do I have to change some parameter somewhere?
I know I could work around by automating the volume, but the fade tool seems a much easier and faster way.

this is normal! If you want to have a longer fade out, use the automation mode and pull down the trackfader or the masterfader. Got to the audio environment. Select "latch or write or touch" and record the fade out. You also might draw the volume automation in the arrange window.

Can I alter the fade in/out times of titles?

Many of the canned titles have a fade in/out which for me is too abrupt.
I would like to make them much longer but can't find any way in the Inspector.

I omitted to mention that I also want to do the same thing with normal clips.
Up to now I have used the workaround of adding a cross dissolve to the front or end of the clip and stretching it to a suitable length but this does not work with a title.
I was hoping that titles and clips would have an opacity line on them which could be keyframed and adjusted as in FCP.
I eventually returned to FCP 7 and achieved it in seconds.

Pixel Motion with time remap. Am I missing something?

I have a 720p 59.94 fps clip of an rc quad flying. Ive time remapped it and applied Pixel Motion but the little quad chops very badly while the background is very smooth during the slowest part of the time remap.
As a control measure, I did the same clip with only frame blending, no Pixel Motion, and the quad is smooth, however the whole scene isnt as clean as would be with Pixel Motion.
Am I missing something?
Heres the two clips; the 1st one is frame blending, the second is frame blending/Pixel Motion. Why does the subject(quad) skip badly?

It's inherent in how the two two methods work differently - one favors large, contiguous areas, the other works better with only tiny motion differences. The problem is that when using pixel motion to the algorithm your copter doesn't move much. No motion, nothing to blend. You can always try the Timewarp effect and tweak its parameters, but short of masking the copter and combining the two you won't get a perfect result, either, most likely.

Messages cannot be displayed at this time... am I missing something?

In order to use my mail, I now have to use the browser instead of my mail application because of the new "upgrade". Unfortunately, my online mailbox keeps blacking out saying that my messages more than a week old cannot be displayed at this time. Any reason as to why? I cannot upgrade to Lion because I use software with my clients that is no longer supported in Lion.

I run mac os 10.4.11 and firefox 7 will not open, and I get an error message saying firefox is not supported on this version of mac os. is there a different version I can download? Am I missing something?

As of Firefox 4.0 and newer one needs both OSX 10.5+ and a Intel Mac.
The last version to work on a Intel Mac using OSX 10.4.* is Firefox 3.6.*

How to fade in/out single track volume?

I'm new to GarageBand, but shouldn't there be a slider or control for individual tracks? The Help menu doesn't seem to give me info, nor does the Track menu.
I just want to be able to fade tracks in and out - it's called mixing, right? The fade line at the bottom (in purple) controls all the tracks...but isn't there a fade in/out control for single tracks besides setting the level for that track section?
For instance, in the photo, below, the "Acoustic Guiter Rock Picking", highlighted, is where I'd like to fade it in at the beginning and fade out at the end, while having the other tracks stay the same. Advice appreciated, thanks.
I saw in another post that there's a track slider in GB '11, but as I have '08, there seems to be no triangle to click. Any workarounds? Can't imagine why this basic feature wasn't in earlier version, if so.

Looks like the answer was right under my nose. I thought it only applied to later versions of GB, but the track option is in v. 4 (mine) too.

Help creating a script to move users in and out of an OU based on a time limit

Here's my scenario: we currently have OUs based on the locations of our facilities, we also have a sub-OU(?) underneath it for users that need a group policy applied to them where whitelist applications allowed to run. From time to time we have need to pull
users out of that sub-OU for a short period of time to let them run applications they normally wouldn't be able to and won't need to run long term. Sometimes we also forget to add these people back into that policy controlled sub-OU because we get busy do
other things. Server is 2008 R2.
Here's what I'm looking for: A script that prompts for the users name, pulls that user out of the sub-OU, puts them in the main OU but only for 24 hours. After that time limit is up, a script/command runs that puts the user back in the policy controlled
sub-OU. I'm thinking a PS script would be the best way to do this.
Research: Looking at these posts here and here I'm
thinking I should be able to Frankenstein something together but I have very limited PS scripting experience.
Can anyone help me create this?

You've probably figured this out, but we're not typically in the business of writing complete solutions for people. With that said, there are projects I find particularly interesting, such as this one, where I am willing to help get someone started if they
are willing to take the time to work through the examples and learn from them.
You have two requests - one is a script that prompts for a user it then moves to a different location in Active Directory. The second request is a way to move them back without manual interaction. This will require an automated task (scheduled task)
that will run at select times during a day.
Here's the first script (1/2): The first two lines set two different variables. The first line sets the $OUPath variable to the SubOU. The second line prompts for a user and, once a user is entered, sets that user to the $User variable. It then runs the
first try-catch, attempting to replace the $User variable with the data returned from the Get-ADUser cmdlet. Notice the use of the -Properties parameter. By default the modified date and the extensionAttributes are not returned. We will be using the modified
date so we can be certain that 24 hours passes before we move them back (see part 2/2). Including extensionAttribute13 will ensure we only move users out of the OU if they were moved in by the script. Note: The modified date on a user in AD is changed when
it is moved from one OU to another. If the user cannot be located in the first try-catch it will say it cannot locate the user in Active Directory. If it can locate it, it will set the $User variable, as described so far, and then move on.
In the second (or, nested) try-catch we split the user's DistingusihedName at the first comma so that we have two parts. We use the second part (that doesn't include their CN) and see if that matches the $OUPath variable. If it does match then that user
has already been moved. If it doesn't match then we 1. Move the user, 2. Replace extensionAttribute13 with the string 'MovedUser,' and 3. Output that the user has been moved.

Is there a time limit for iCloud tabs from shut down devices?

Hi,
I have had some tabs left open on my (shut down) office iMac that I wanted to check during holidays by using iCloud tabs. It all went fine the first week, but some days later all tabs from that iMac had disappeared. Back in office once I opened Safari the tabs showed up again as iCloud tabs on my mobile devices.
Is there a sort of time limit for tabs to stay in iCloud after having shut down the Mac from which they originate? Can I turn of this feature if I don’t want it?

Anyone? OK, I imagine most people don’t shut down their Mac for more then one week or so or they don’t want to check out work related links opened at office during holidays... Or does this just happen to me?

I think there should be a time limit of 2 years to the icloud find my device. Then it should reset.

So many people have locked devices that they bought on eBay. I think apple should have a time limit of 2 years then it should rest back to factory settings with no Icloud attached.
Thus if you have got scammed there is hope for you. All you have to do is wait the 2 years or 1 year before your device becomes useable when they do a full reset of all old devices.
Also it helps people keep up to date on there icloud. A lot of people forget what email and password they made for there apple id.
Thus they can put in there new email and password.

I have a 45 second slide but when I land on this slide from the previous slide, I still see the previous slide. The text boxes and highlight boxes appear fine but the previous slide is displayed in the background.

There is no real time limit. Can you check if you have perhaps some objects timed for the rest of the project in that previous slide? And please, try to mention the version (exact number) of Captivate you are using. It helps to give a correct answer.

Is there a time limit for how long a free form that is created can be used/accessed, or is it soely dependent upon when the 50 respondent max has been reached? I am creating a form now, that will likely be distributed in early January, and I want it to be accessible through the end of June, 2013. (I am simply using the option to create a single form for free- not the 30-day trial).

To add a Fade In or Fade Out, right-click on a clip on your timeline and select the fade option.
As I say in my books, fades are really just keyframed opacity and volume levels. If you look closely at the clips on your timeline, you'll see the keyframe points and the sloping line between them that creates the fade.
To make your fade last longer, just move these keyframes farther apart!

I can set start & end times for individual tracks.
Can I also fade in & out?

You can set start and stop times for individual tracks using Get Info>>Options tab.
iTunes Preferences>>Playback tab has a crossfade option that you could check out to see if it does what you want on fading in and out.
