Is there a line style descrepancy with xy graph property nodes?

Hello.
I am attempting to display mutliple bar graphs in a single XY graph control. To color-code and label each one, I set up a for-loop and call each active plot to set the color, plot name, etc. The problematic thing is that when I define the vertical bar graph type by-hand, at the control on the front panel, I have 5 vertical plot style options. The fifth one produces the best results. When I try to set this property node in the block diagram, I have only three vertical plot style options. Is there a way around this?

Hi Mike,
I read the property node for the bar plots (after having setting it by hand to the one you like) and it appears that the value of that bar plot is 8. I also set it to a different bar plot by and hand then wrote "8" to the property node and that does seem to change it to the last (left to right) vertical bar graph. I am running LV 7.1. If you look at the context help it does seem to indicate that the only values for vertical bar graphs are 1-3 but try writing "8" and see what happens.

I'am having problem with a graph property node by using format & precision

I would like to display an amount of data in a waveform graph and to choose the X scale to display absolute time (whitout date information) or scaled decimal value.
Absolute time is a must because the scaling should reflect the acquisition time and not only a value in hour, minute and second.
Using the property node I can choose between 10 differents formats (0-Decimal, 1-Scientific, 2-Engineering, 3-Binary, 4-Octal, 5-Hexadecimal, 6-Relative Time, 7-Time and Date, 8-SI, and 9-Custom).
Format 7 - Time and Date should be a good choice but LabVIEW set automatically system time AND system date without any possibilities to change anything.
Trying format 9 - Custom ends everytime with error 1077 (invalid property value).
Any help to explain me how to use the format Custom or to give me a solution to switch between time (no date) and decimal scaling is appreciate.

In addition to the Xscale.Format property node, you also need to set the XScale.FormatString (see a little below the Format entry).
Use %<%.0X>T as format string.

Change line styles in an Excel graph

I am using the report generation toolkit in LabVIEW 2009 and need to change the line styles of three lines on a graph in Excel. I found the property node that allows me to change the line style but I am not sure what to pass into the varient. I have tried the name (ie xlDash) and the integer value (ie -4115) but neither seem to work. Has anyone tried this and can offer some advice.

I should have posted this sooner but I found my own solution. I decided to read the properties from an excel graph and found that LV uses an integer thats value corresponds to where in the list in Excel the line style is. IE continuous has a value of 1 since it is first in the drop down in Excel, Dash has a value of 2 since it is second in the list, etc. One problem with this is that your code is not very robust since the result can change if Microsoft changes the order of their drop down list in newer verisons of Excel.

Problem with the Value property node (MacOS)

As far as I have tested it, Value Property nodes (and Value (signaling)) don't work in MacOS : The value property appears as a boolean, the value(signaling) as a cluster (width, height).
Even with boolean controls, the node is not working.
No such problem in LV 8.6.
Am-I missing something ? Is that some "intended use" ? Or simply a bug ?

That sounds like some sort of indexing problem with the property nodes like somesort of corrupted installation. What if you just delete the property node and recreate it?
I dropped a numeric control and looked at the shortcut menu for the list of property nodes. Right below Value and Value (signalling) are Visible (which would be a boolean) and Xcontrol, which when you step down through the submenus, the first choice is Container bounds, a cluster of Width and Height. So these 2 datatypes that are 2 lower on the list match the ones you are getting.
What happens if you pick another property node a few elements up or down on the shortcut menu? Does is happen for some other properties, and if so, are thereany properties that are okay?
Here is what my property nodes look like for a numeric and I draggged the box up and down to show the natural order of the property nodes. Note that I have scripting installed, so there are a few more property nodes (and the blue box at the top) that you might not have.

Class conflict when programmatically editing graphs with property node

I am trying to programmatically move the cursors on a graph. I want the cursor to look the same on 2 different graphs so I made a subVI. The code works correctly when I have seperate property nodes, but when I try to use the subVI, I get a class conflict -
"You have connected a refnum of one type to a refnum of another type and both types are members of some class hierarchy, but there is neither a simple up cast nor type cast between the two classes."
I am not sure how to fix this. The graph that works is of a waveform, and the graph that doesn't is the output of the FFT Power Spectrum VI. Is the problem that the inputs are different? Or is there some kind of resource conflict when using property nodes in subVIs?

A shot in the dark here. But maybe if you make the subVI's input reference of type GraphChart it would work.

When there is a note on the first or second line that starts in the block, justification and rebuilt and the problem happens! even made to change color of text on the blank page occurs ... our solution to an extra line at the beginning of the block without note or make it past the note on the previous page ...

That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar or the Babylon extension that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links and buttons in that part of the screen not clickable.

I have connected the IPAD to my laptop so i can reinitilise it but nothing is happening - it doesn't appear as a device on my laptop (the USB port is working OK) Has anyone else experienced this and how did you overcome it? Is there a property to set the "Line Style" of the "X" & "Y" Grids of a Waveform Graph?

I found the properties to change the colors, but not the "Line Styles". (I want to change them from solid to dashed lines).

You cannot change the xy gridlines to dash, only change the colour.

Bug in Adobe XI:
The line style of Word tables is ignored. Broken lines or dotted lines in Word tables are shown as normal uninterrupted lines in PDF file.
For example, in my Word document I choose the following line styles in tables: dotted line (.........................) or broken line ( - - - - - - - - - - - - ).
In the PDF file, all lines are shown as normal uninterrupted lines (__________________), even if I zoom in 800% or more.
Is there a solution for this problem? (In FreePDF, it works well, but FreePDF has other disadvantages and therfore is no solution for me.)

Ok 1st one. The warning restriction message relates to this line in main.cf:
smtpd_helo_restrictions = permit_sasl_authenticated permit_mynetworks check_helo_access hash:/etc/postfix/helo_access reject_non_fqdn_hostname reject_invalid_hostname permit reject_invalid_helo_hostname
The last reject occurs after the single word "permit" and is ignored.
However, that's not the problem.
I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this might be a clue.
It would appear that either postfix is not being able to create the socket for private/policy or it's somehow created with the wrong permissions. You might need to ramp up the debug level to get a better idea.
You could check if it's being created by "netstat -a | grep private/policy" in terminal.
My guess is that it's not being created because there is no setup statement in your master.cf file, but I don't understand why postfix would be looking for it if it isn't set up. Private/policy I think relates to grey listing. Maybe gives you a hint.

Advanced line art tracing with pen/pad tutorial ...

In the past I had used stock vector illustrations and creatively assembled them with some typography to get a result that was acceptable to me.
But recently, i've really taken a liking to the style/look of one of our competitors in the market (see below) ...
The above image is a line drawing colored with marker and airbrush (physical marker and airbrush, not digital) then is scanned, composed and the text is put in via Illustrator (or Corel).
I REALLY like this companies artwork because it's all custom and the visuals fit the title of the item very closely.
However, while my line drawing skill is up to par with the above, I never bothered to hand draw anything due to the time it took to trace out in Illustrator with a mouse using the pen tool.
That said, I've been impressed by a similar (but all vector) style that I recently found on thinkstock.com and it would seem like this guy is using a stylus/pad to actually trace his lines freehand straight into Illustrator?
Oddly enough, in all my years of designing ... I've NEVER used a styles/pad (I think touched one once) because it always seemed like one of those odd peripherals that you either loved or you didn't ... like a track ball! And back in the day it wasn't as effective or useful as I think it may be now.
But I'm starting to think that for the type of illustration seen above, it's an essential tool.
So can anyone recommend a good stylus/pad and direct me to some good tutorials on the basics of using it for tracing and coloring line art?

Where in the world do you get this idea? There is nothing in the artwork you depict that suggests it was done using a stylus. And a stylus is certainly not necessary for it.
A stylus is just another pointing device. You can do the artwork you depicted with a mouse just fine. Using a stylus is just a simple matter of personal preference. I, for one, have bought Wacom tablets since they first appeared (DIN8 serial model on the Mac). I have never liked them for anything other than pressure-sensitive "painting" in programs like Painter, and not always there, either. I find them awkward and tedious.
Your curiosity will not be satisfied until you try one. So try one. But they are certainly not required for commercial-quality work.

Different line style in tables

I've been looking for a way to change the line style of the lines in my tables, i.e. have dashed lines, but when I select the line in question and go the line style section of the graphics tab, there is only the standard solid line. Is it the case that you just cannot change the line styles of lines in tables? I use tables to layout a lot documents that I create and this missing feature would be quite an annoyance to me when it is something I was always able to do in Word.

as Frank said, you cannot change the style of the lines in tables. You could send feedback to Apple to get this feature in a future version of Pages.
As a workaround, you could mark a line and set the stroke to None. Then insert a line from the shapes menu and set it's stroke to the style you want. Set both the line and the table to "Fixed on page" in Wrap inspector. Then move the line to the place of the table you want it to be. If you group the line(s) and the table, you could set Object Placement back to "Moves with text".
Obviously, it's best to use this workaround when you're quite sure that size an position of the row don't change to which you want to add the line object.

RH 11 CSS Mapping Styles issue with Word 2013

Any help will be much appreciated.
Platform: Win 7, RH 11, Word 2013 however, using an existing Word Template that was created in Word 2007.
HISTORY:
Six months ago, an upgrade of RH8 to RH11 took place (smooth, no issues reported). Please note, I have no "easy" way to verify if there was a problem in RH8 (all projects are upgraded, and old builds are backed up on IT server).
There are existing Styles created in RH and in the Word Template (e.g., Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, Normal, normal_bold, etc.). These existing Styles have no mapping issues hence, RH CSS recognizes their corresponding Word Styles.
ISSUE:
RH11 CSS does not recognize New RH Styles and Word Styles.
NOTE: Styles are the same type. “For example, character to character, paragraph to paragraph, table to table, and multi-level list to multi-level list” (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d11aff59c2a0-7ee4.ht ml#WS21E2B5E4-C4AC-47b2-9D4B-D548EA9E3C04).
Things Tried:

Purpose: Working on a documentation standard project. Creating New Styles ‘based on’ existing styles. For example:

NOTE: This anomaly I just reported happens for ANY new ‘Paragraph Style’ I create. If I create a List/MultiList, and the names of the Style are the same in RH and Word, RH Wizard automatically maps them. However, reading on multiple forums, authors have reported problems with Indentations (i.e., Word over extends the indentations); I have see this as well.

Thank you Peter and Amebr for your assistance. I ended up using RH Multilevel List Style, configured, and created an identical List Style in Word. I created a Single and a Multilevel (e.g., Level = bullet, Level 2 = squares); their challenge is matching RH indents with Word Indents... It's sort of a bear since RH does not have the Format Paragraph option (ref. drop-down) like Word Lists - Numbering functionality.
After generating my print document mu Bullet style reads "Normal (Web)"; even though the RH CSS Wizard recognized Word List Style I created (Ref. Font: Symbol, Font color: Black, Indent: Left: 0.15", Hanging: 0.25", Outline numbered + Level: 1 +, Numbering Style: Bullet + Aligned at: 0.15" + Indent at: 0.4", Priority: 100, Based on: No List.
Question: Would anyone out there know why is when I highlight my bullet list to verify the correct Style (with the Styles pane open) and I see the "Normal (Web)" [its Style type = Paragraph and Style based on = Normal) is selected? If it came through (from Rh) as a true Multilevel List Style, I should not see anything.

Changing line style

Hi,
I'm using Draw Line function in Labview 10 to draw some lines in the front panel programmatically (the start point is given and I change the end point using a for loop). However, I don't want to use the default line styles and want to show the line with some arrows (like replacing the small dashes in dash style with some small arrows, or replacing the solid line style with a solid arrow).
Is there any way to do this?

The "pen" input to teh Draw Line.vi gives the option to select Line Style.
