Is there a 'macro' to convert a Word style to CSS tag?

The text in my source (Word) has a named character style applied to selected words/phrases throughout the text.  I want to detect that specific character-style spec. in the source (pasted from Word into a DW target page) and have a way to translate what was a Word style-spec. into a specific CSS style for that same piece of text in the HTML.
For example, say the Word style is a character style named "boldBlue" (which, when applied to the text, makes it appear in ... bold and blue).  In CSS, I have a style named "BB" -- I want the HTML to have the same text tagged correctly using the CSS spec. for "bold blue" (BB), without needing to assign that CSS tag over and over and over to each case.
Is there some 'macro' (or 'batch') way to accomplish this in CS6?

Honestly, the best thing you can do is strip out all Word generated code. Word is a horribly writer of html and css and will increase the headache factor of your project by an order of magnitude. DW has a feature built into it specifically to strip out all Word generated gibberish simply because it is so terrible...
Commands > Clean Up Word HTML
To change code from something like class="BoldBlue" to class="BB", you can open the page in source view and use the Find & Replace feature to replace all instances of BoldBlue with BB.
Ctrl + F or Edit > Find and Replace
When the dialogue window pops up, choose Current Document and Source Code from the drop downs. Put the exact text, spaces and all into the Find field and the new info in the Replace, then click Replace All.

  • Is there a way to convert a Word document with Red and Black into Spot colors in Acrobat X?

Customer sent us PDF files created in MS Word. Of course, Word creates CMYK versions of colors. I need the red text and black text converted into spot colors for 2 color output on press. Is there a way to do this? I saw another thread that said there is a Fixup in the Print Production/Preflight section of Acrobat X that has a convert to Spot, but I'm not seeing that. All I see is Convert to CMYK. I'm using Acrobat X 10.1.13 on OS X. Any help would be appreciated. He also sent the Word docs so I can drop that into InDesign and reformat the whole thing and fix the colors myself but if I can do it in Acrobat, that would be a lot quicker. Thanks!

Frequently in this scenario the red will be 100% of either magenta or yellow with 0% black. In these cases you can merely plate the Black & Magenta (or yellow) for press.
I've created a Preflight Fixup on occasion for these also.
An example shown - Note it requires the document is cmyk. MS Files will be rgb. You could create a Preflight looking for rgb colors.
With Fixup tab selected - Options > Create New Fixup > Type of Fixup - search for Spot in the field

  • Convert Style to CSS

Hi there, I was just wondering if their is a way to convert a Photoshop style to CSS code for use in adding a style to an image on rollover.
    Thanks,
    Alex Zylka

No, how should there? Except for color overlay and drop shadows, none of the effects can even be expressed using CSS and you can do that with two lines of code in the style sheet, so what would be the point? If you need to define buttons, use images and respective JavaScript.

    Hi bobbij,
I'm sorry to hear there was a holdup with your order. Have you been able to access your subscription yet? If not, and you're on a time crunch, you could get the job down with Acrobat. You can download a free 30-day trial from http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

  • Hello, is there a way to redact a word or item from a pdf using adobe pro X the same way you can if you convert a word doc using pro X on a pc?

hello, is there a way to redact a word or item from a pdf using adobe pro X the same way you can if you convert a word doc using pro X on a pc?

If the document is not a scanned image or protected from editing then you should be able to edit it. I would have to guess you have a scan and when you converted to Word, you ran OCR (Optical Character Recognition) on it converting the scanned image to live text.
This is the forum for the free Adobe Reader which can not edit or redact.

  • Unable to convert Microsoft Word doc. to PDF in Words (there is no response)

Unable to convert Microsoft Word doc to PDF in Words (Does not respond) or Create PDF from a Word doc. in Adobe Acrobat X Standard 10.1.1 with all updates installed. I receive apop-up saying "Missing PDF Maker Files: Dou you want to run the installer in Repair Mode"  I have done this several times. I have un-installrd and re installed the program twice. Still does not work. I'm running Windows 7 Home version and Microsoft Office XP 2002. This is a brabd new Acrobat program right out of the box. Suggestions Please.

In WORD 2002, I believe you can only print to the Adobe PDF printer. I think that WORD 2003 is the first compatible with AA X. Check out http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333504.html.

  • Convert a word document to multiple PDF documents

    Hello
I would like to convert a word document to multiple PDF documents. (i.e. convert 20 page word document into 20 single page PDF's). Is it possible to do this easliy and quickly.
I have used word mail merge to create multiple cover letters in word
I would now like to convert each cover letter (which is 1 page each) into individialized PDF's so that I can email them out as attachments
I currently have been copying and pasting from my master word document into a fresh word document (one page at a time) then, saving, then converting to PDF one cover letter at a time. Although this works it is time consuming and I figured there may be an easier quicker way to do this
Any thoughts, suggesstions, would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

It is possible to convert the word document into a PDF then while the PDF is open do:
    Document
    Extract Pages
    1-20
Check "Extract pages as seperate files"
This will give you 20 seperate files.
    Hope it helps!

  • Convert MS Word bookmarks to pdf

Let me say that I'm no expert here but have been working with Acrobat Standard X for 5 years before a laptop crash.
Purchased  and installed Acrobat Standard X recently and noticed 2 problems I didnt have on my old version.
#1 Noticed that there is no adobe buttons in any of my microsoft office (excel, word ...).
#2 I use standard X to write manuals.  Using word to create the doc, I use bookmarks in word and then convert to pdf. but the bookmarks are not converting over to pdf.  I have insured that preferences/convert to pdf/Word  "add bookmarks to Adobe pdf" is checked.  Still no bookmarks are converted.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Dennis

    Hi Dennis,
Hope you have not called Tech-Support before you read this:
    First thing First:
Acrobat X is fully compatible with Office 2003. It includes MS Office (Word/Excel/PPT), Word_Import Comments, MS Outlook, Mail Merge, Attach As PDF, Attach As Secured PDF, MS Visio/Project, MS Access, MS Publisher.
Check the below mentioned link of Adobe Knowledgebase for the complete list of supported application:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/333/333504.html
So you dont have to downgrade anything. You are all set to go. All you need to perform the steps mentioned in the Knowledgebase article to get the Acrobat Tab in MS Word/Excel etc to convert the word files along with the bookmarks.
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/329/329044.html?rec=true
You can also watch the video available on it. Its real simple to do this. Should you have any issue while doing this, please reply.

  • How do I convert a Word hyperlink path to point to a converted PDF document?

I have a folder with Word documents that I want to convert to PDF. Many of the Word documents have hyperlinks to bookmarks in other Word documents in the same folder. (I'm trying to convert all the Word documents in the folder to PDF.) After I convert all the folder documents to PDF and click on the hyperlinks, they take me to the old Word documents. Is there a way to convert the hyperlink paths to instead take me to the converted PDF document?

The original Hyperlink path, established in the MS Word files has as the target file some *.doc file.
Edit Hyperlinks, in MS Word, to change the target file(s) to the appropriate *.pdf file.
As a guess, I'd say someone familiar with MS VB might be able to come of with something to do the change programmatically.
An alternative could be a web search for a possible Acrobat JavaScript that might do the job to the PDF files.
Failing that the job would be done manually to each Hyperlink in each MS Word file.
As to MS Hyperlinks to MS "Bookmarks" in other files.
The [ # ] character used as a parameter is not interpreted by Adobe Reader / Acrobat in the same manner as MS Office products.
Consequently, in an output PDF, the link will only open the target file. Note that MS Bookmarks within a DOC file will function in the output PDF.
    For PDF Open Parameters see:
    http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/pdf_open _parameters_v9.pdf

  • How do I convert a word file larger than 100 mb to pdf?

I use the adobe online pdf service to convert word files.  I have a file that is 101mb and the converter won't upload and convert the file. How do I convert this word file to pdf now?

    Hi adrentcdc,
There is a 100 MB file-size limit for uploading to the Adobe PDF Pack online service. Since no such limitation exists for Acrobat, you could use that to convert the file to PDF. You're welcome to download a free  30-day trial, and give it a spin. For more information, see www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html.

  • How to convert all Word file Hyperlinks?

    Hi,
I am having some problems related to hyperlinks.
I am using Word 2003 SP3 to create 'index_file.doc'. In this file, there are lots of hyperlinks (20 to 30 pages full of them) that are redirected towards PDF files that are in 2 folders ('folder1' and 'folder2' placed next to 'index_file.doc').
Then I try converting 'index_file.doc' to create 'index_file.pdf' so that nobody can change is with Word. To do so, I am using Acrobat Standard version 8.2.2. I want to keep every hyperlink activated. Works fine...on the first 15 pages! After that, there is a 50% average of links that work. And the ones that don't work don't have any path problem, it's just that some links are not links at all after conversion. Looks like it's only text.
I already had the same problem with another index recently but managed to avoid the problem this way: in Word, instead of selecting a whole sentence and creating a hyperlink I selected the whole sentence exept the first letter of the first word of that sentence, and it worked great! (why???)
So I did that also on the file I am having problems with now and it worked for a lot of links but not all of them.
Is there a maximum of hyperlinks Acrobat can convert from DOC files to PDF files? Is there a setting I can change to make all links work? Do you have any ideas? The links on the Word file work just fine (all of them).
    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply.
Yes, there really are links in the Word file and they all work fine until a certain point where they don't work or some do and some don't but the 15 first pages work just fine and every link has been created the same way. All links are relative.
It does work to enter the links in the pdf file directly through Acrobat but I wanted to know if there was a way to just convert it since all the info is in the Word file.
Has anybody ever hade this kind of problem before? Because this is the second time it happens to me.
