Is there a method to write a ROW @ once to Excel file using OLE2?

Hi
I need some help on exporting data from a table to an Excel file. It's
possible to write values to file cell by cell using Ole2 functions. But
I prefer if there's a method to write a row at once rather than writing
cell by cell.
Please let me know if anyone's aware of a method..
I guess DDE package has some methods, but since we have already used
OLE2, would like to know whether any method available in that.
We can set values to the row at once, using the following
ole2.set_property(row1, 'Value',1);
but it will be always the same value in every column
the above will set '1' for each column in the row..
Please let me know if there's a method to set different values to
each column in a row such as
ole2.set_property(row1, 'Value',1,2,3,4) (not an actual, just an
example) which will assign '1' to column 1, '2' to column 2 etc..
We can't TEXT_IO and CSV files since we want to create different multiple tabs in the same work sheet
It's required to have multiple tabs in the same excel file.
So using CSV files is not possible

Other than importing them into your Mail / Address Book app, no.

  • How to write non-XML data to a file using an OSB FTP Routing?

    Hi --
    Situation ... I need to write non-XML data to a file using FTP. A proxy service retrieves XML and transforms it with XSLT to CSV format, then gives it to a Biz service to file it out, using FTP. Simple.
    Problem ... OSB sends the contents of $body to any service it calls. Because $body is a SOAP document, it has to contain XML. So therefore I have to put my CSV data into an XML element, in order to put it into $body; and this inner element then gets written to the file, which I don’t want. But if I don't enclose my CSV content in a tag, I get "Unexpected CDATA encountered" trying to assign it to a variable.
    There has to be away around this!
    Thanks for your help.
    John Taylor

    Solved. Steps:
    -- Transform the XML to CSV using an XSL transform. Put the CSV data inside enclosing XML elements, and use a Replace action to put the XML element + CSV contents back into *$body*.
    -- Define an MFL transform that only knows about the enclosing XML elements. Use a delimiter of "\n" (hard return).
    -- Route from the proxy service to a Biz service that has Service Type = Messaging Service and Request Message Type = MFL; specify the MFL transform, which will receive the incoming *$body* variable, strip off the enclosing XML element within it, and pass the CSV contents to the FTP service.

    Hi All,

To achieve it i have created the file adapter using user defined schema. It was working fine. • Procedure to write Oracle Query Result to Excel file?

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement to write a procedure which will write the result of a Query (select statement) to a Excel file.
    I use a third party tool to do so but it fails when the query fetches more than 65000 records!
    Can someone suggest me a procedure ( may be written in PL/SQL ) which can be used to achieve this task?
    If there is a procedure available readily, can you please share it with me?
    Thanks in advance
    Himanshu Dabir

    There is a ready procedure (actually PL/SQL blocks by Tom Kyte) available at
    http://www.quest-pipelines.com/newsletter-v5/0704_C.htm
    but it also suffers from Microsofts limitation of 65536 rows per sheet.

  • "Open method of Workbooks class failed" when opening Excel file via Internet Explorer

    (apologies, I posted this first to the general Office 2010 forum, but then realized this was probably a better spot to post)
    We have an Excel COM add-in installed on users' PCs.  This add-in responds to workbook open events by opening a particular XLA file (also deployed to the PC) to make certain features available.  This process works flawlessly when Excel files are
    opened locally - but when a user attempts to open an Excel file from an IE link, we get the following error: "Open method of Workbooks class failed".  This is happening on the line that is trying to open the XLA file.  This only happens
    when launching an Excel link from IE - works fine in Chrome or Firefox.
    I have found several posts on this topic, but no solutions:
    1. This post (https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/office/en-US/73c96005-84af-4648-b103-32b677205be3/open-method-of-workbooks-class-failed)
    is the closest to our problem.  In this case, the "answer" was that the user may not have access to the 2nd workbook being opened.  But in our case, we're opening an XLA that is on the local machine, and I've confirmed that it is not
    corrupt and accessible (read & write, just in case!) to Everyone.
    2. This (very old) post (http://www.pcreview.co.uk/forums/open-method-workbooks-fails-excel-hosted-ie-t965608.html)
    seems similar, but is talking about opening Excel inside of IE.  This is not what we're doing - the link is supposed to (and does) open Excel outside of IE.  Interestingly, Excel.exe is being launched with the "-embedded" flag, even
    though it isn't running in the IE window.  When launching Excel by opening the file locally, Excel.exe is run with the "/dde" flag instead.  Clearly the "-embedded" mode is what is causing the problem.  I could change the
    links on the web page to use some JavaScript to open Excel differently... unfortunately, the links are actually generated by SharePoint (the Excel files are in a SP repository), so this is not really an option.
    3. This Microsoft KB article (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/268016) talks about problems opening an XLA directly from IE... but this is the case of a link pointing
    directly to an XLA file, not opening a regular workbook that in turn opens an XLA, as is my case.  In fact, this article specifically points out in the "More Information" section that "End users do not normally open XLAs; instead they open
    an XLS that (if needed) loads one or more XLAs during startup." ==> precisely what I'm trying to do that is giving me the error!
    I've replicated the situation with a very simple COM add-in (created in VS2010 using VB.Net) and a very simple XLA file (does nothing, just pops up a message in auto_open).  For anyone wanting to try it out, here is the exact test case:
    1. In Excel, create a simple XLA file containing only the following code, and save it in C:\TEMP\dummy.xla:
    Sub Auto_Open()
    MsgBox "Auto Open fired"
    End Sub
    2. In Visual Studio, create a new Excel 2010 Add-In.  I created mine via Visual Basic, but I doubt the choice of language matters.  Place the following code in ThisAddin.vb:
    Public Class ThisAddIn
    Private Sub ThisAddIn_Startup(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Startup
    AddHandler Me.Application.WorkbookOpen, AddressOf Application_WorkbookOpen
    End Sub
    Private Sub ThisAddIn_Shutdown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Shutdown
    End Sub
    Sub Application_WorkbookOpen(ByVal workbook As Excel.Workbook)
    On Error GoTo ErrHandler
    If (Not workbook.Name.Contains("dummy.xla")) Then
    MsgBox("Workbook open")
    Application.Workbooks.Open("C:\temp\dummy.xla")
    Application.Workbooks("dummy.xla").RunAutoMacros(Excel.XlRunAutoMacro.xlAutoOpen)
    End If
    Exit Sub
    ErrHandler:
    MsgBox(Err.Description)
    End Sub
    End Class
    3. Build & publish this add-in and install it on the same machine as the XLA created in step 1.
    4. Create and save an empty Excel workbook (I called mine WayneTest1.xlsx) - save it locally (on your desktop), and put a copy somewhere on your web server (I put mine directly in c:\inetpub).
    5. Create an HTML file with a link to that workbook, saving it to the same web server location - here is mine:
    <html>
    <body>
    <a href="WayneTest1.xlsx">Link to Excel file</a>
    </body>
    </html>
    6. Double click the workbook on your desktop (from step 4) - opens fine, I get the "workbook open" message, following by the "Auto Open fired" message.
    7. In Internet Explorer, navigate to the HTML file specified in step 5 and click on the link - when prompted, select "Open" - I get the "workbook open" message, following by the error message "Open method of Workbooks class failed".
    Here are a few things I've ruled out / tried so far:
    - Unchecked all the "Protected View" settings in Excel, made no difference
    - Unchecked all the "File block settings" in Excel, made no difference
    - Made sure dummy.xla was open for read & write to Everyone
    - Made sure the web page was in Trusted sites and set the security level to Low for those sites in IE
    - Tried making the local desktop file (step 6) readonly, made no difference (i.e. launching it locally still worked fine)
    - Tried using Excel 2013 - made no difference
    Any ideas / suggestions?

    Hello Wayne,
    Apologies for the delay.
    I went through your post and tried to reproduce the issue. I was able to reproduce it. Based
    on its complexity and as it requires more in-depth analysis, your question falls into the paid support category which requires a more in-depth level of support.

  • Write several time in an excel file?

    Hi
    I'm using a excel file to take back data from GPIB device.
    so I need to create an excel file
    write the data and this several time in the same seet.
    WritableWorkbook workbook = Workbook.createWorkbook(new File(Fo));
             WritableSheet sheet = workbook.createSheet("First Sheet", 0);
           if(new_run==true && allowoverwrite==true){
             Label label = new Label(0, 2, "NEW RUN");
             sheet.addCell(label);
            new_run=false;
       Label label = new Label(0, ww, bonnevar);
             sheet.addCell(label);
              Number number = new Number(1,ww, bonnevalue);
             sheet.addCell(number);
             ww=ww+1;
            workbook.write();
            workbook.close();
              catch(Exception ex) {
                 JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Impossible de crer le fichier xls", "Erreur", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE);
               }if i had to write only one value in the excel file it is OK it works.
    but if i have to write 2 data and more (i mean i need to enter 2 times in the loop) the first data are deleted and replace by the new one.
    i'm affraid it comes from the fact i recreate each time a workbook and a sheet.
    but i don't know how to solve my issue.
    do you know if it is possible to open an excel file, write data , close the excel file , then reopen the same excel file and add data without erase the pervious one
    thanks a lot for your help

    bonjour
    et oui je suis francais :)
    my english is so bad isn't it :)
    so effectively there is no loop because the source code i have inserted is a small part of my entire code.
    but recursively i come on this part of the code that why i have spoke about a loop.
    and each time I want to write something on the excel file, the previous data are erased and replace by the new one....
    so if you have any idea so solve this it would be great...

  • Write an excel file using File adapter

    Hi,
    I have a scenario in which i have to write an excel file in the target system.
    I tried creating a tab delimited file conversion and just named the file as .xls.
    When i saw the output file it did look like a excel but a report that i have written to read a excel file cant read it.
    The report says 0 records found. It works for other excel sheets that are created manually.
    So will this method noit work for creating excel files?
    Is using the jexcel api the only option for this?

  • Is there any way to read the data from an excel file w/o using a loop structure?

    I am retrieving a large amount of data (multiple sheets) from an excel file and would like to extract the entire range without retrieving individual cell values(too slow). I can write an range all at once but cannot read it.

    If you are able to write a block of data, then you should be able to read a block. The four requirements that you want to verify are:
    1. The Range specified must match the exact size and location of the data block you want to read
    2. The returned data is in a 2D array of Variants (either strings or numbers)
    3. Use Variant to Data to convert to 2D DBL or 2D Strings
    4. Check for the correct orientation for your application (use transpose if it is not)

    Hi Randy,
    Thank you for looking into my problem.
    I have looked into the Workbook.open property node. There is "password" on the property node. Please see attached diagrams.
    Is is the right way to do it?
    Please advise further.
    For your information, the Excel workbook and sheet 1 are password protected.
