Is there a URL that I can use in a program I'm developing to automatically download the newest version of firefox for deployment?
In the company that I'm working for, it is key to update any software that we will be installing on our computer systems. We do have a lot of software, so I'm designing a piece of computer software very similar to "Ninite" (a software updater and silent installer) only specifically designed for my company.
Firefox is one of the software applications that we are very big on and I was wondering if there is a static URL that I can drop in to my software updater that always has the most recent build of firefox.
For example:

No, all the "direct" links I've ever seen include a version number. Also OS and language, but I assume you can default those. It's the version that's the problem.

ever since I downloaded the newest version of Firefox, my Dragon NaturallySpeaking hasn't been working very well. For example, I will say "click register" or "click contact us" to select links and buttons on websites. Before this worked fine, but now it hardly works at all, which makes me think that because I am using a Dragon NaturallySpeaking program from 2007 or 2008, that it just doesn't know how to handle a program like Mozilla Firefox six that was written after its time. I downloaded the newest version of firefox today 8/16/11 and now I cannot use Evernote (nor does clipmarks work from before) this is unacceptable. How do I return to the earlier version of firefox? If there is no way to do this, then I will have to use internet explorer so I hope you can help me with this. Thank You, Carol Roberts
Until Evernote updates their add-on to mark it compatible with Firefox 6, you can use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/add-on-compatibility-reporter/ Add-on Compatibility Reporter] to try re-enabling it yourself.
You can also downgrade to a previous version of Firefox from [https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ this archive], but please be warned that some old versions of Firefox have known security bugs that are fixed in later versions. have recently downloaded the newest version of firefox. after installing i am happy to say i am pleased with the new look and features etc though for some reason i am unable to open new tabs as before.
i now have to right click on bookmarks or favorites and select open in a new tab to do so, rather than simply clicking on the new tab button..If the problem turns out to be the "New Tabs at the End" extension, there actually is an internal setting for this that you could use instead.
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''tabs''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the '''browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent''' preference to switch it from true to false. That's it. -

Images won't open in my gmail or websites can anybody help me? This happen when I updated to the newest version of FirefoxIf images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.

After it is downloaded it asks if i want to replace an existing version, i say yes and then drag the firefox icon to the folder and it staes that i do not have sufficient privileges to this.

I transfered my I tunes library to my new laptop using a thumb drive. I downloaded the newest version of Itunes to my new computer. My old ITUNES library of songs and books came across just fine. I can play them on the new laptop but they won't sync with my Ipod. The Itunes shows no devices when I hook it up to the laptop. Windows recognizes that the IPOD is hooked up. But no connection with ITUNES. Did I make a mistake in trying to sync my Itunes purchases to the new laptop before transfering the old library into the new ITUNES. If so how do I undo the problem. Please help. I use a PC with Windows XP.

I got a message that the version of Firefox I was using was outdated, so I downloaded the newest version.
Now when I try & open Firefox I get the message, "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Firefox. Do you want to reboot now?"

First, make sure hidden folders are viewable. You can do that using Windows Explorer or My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View tab. Look for the radio buttons to show or not to show hidden files and folders.
Now look for C:\Documents and Settings\''username''\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles or some part of that path, or your actual profile folder, which would have had a semi-random name, typically ending with default, or the bookmarkbackups folder, which is the ultimate prize.

To recover your old Firefox settings folder (profile folder), try using a utility like Piriform's Recuva:

That needs to run ASAP before deleted files are overwritten.
The folder you're looking for would have had a semi-random name, but be located here:
C:\Documents and Settings\''username''\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
By default, that folder is hidden. Make sure hidden folders are viewable. You can do that using Windows Explorer or My Computer > Tools > Folder Options > View tab. Look for the radio buttons to show or not to show hidden files and folders.
In particular, a bookmarkbackups folder would be a wonderful thing to be able to recover.

I am using a PowerBook and have recently upgraded to 10.5.8 and would like to get the latest version of Firefox I can. However, FF's home page says 'unfortunately the latest version of FF is not compatible'. But when I look at the requirements it seems that mine should fit. Basically, what is the latest version of FF I can get and how do I find it to download.

Go to msn.com for example: at the top of their page they have clickable link to hotmail. When I upgraded to Firefox 7 this link no longer works. Same thing happens with my yahoo mail, gmail and hotmail. If you open up yahoo mail for example; I can not click on the signout tab.... it doesn't function with firefox 7. I worked prior to uploading new version. I don't have that problem on my windows 7 platform.
That problem can be caused by the Yahoo! Toolbar that extents too much downwards and covers the top part of the browser window and thus makes links in that part of the screen not clickable.

I presume that the reason why it takes so much time for Firefox to load and then for me to get responses is because my Internet access if by dial-up. I need a less rich, or complicated, version of Firefox. The previous version was okay in terms of speed. What can I do to speed up the processing. Is it because I downloaded the version from the Yahoo website?
