Is there a way (script option, exporter option) to export a .psd/.psb file with nested layersets to another layered .psd file with a flat layer structure for greater compatibility? (i.e. CS6/CC/CC '14 to CS4 or older?)
Just looking for a solution short of having to go in and manually delve through hundreds of layers and reorganize the .psd. There's a lot of vector elements, layer effects and blending modes as well. It'd be nice to see Adobe include an exporter for older Photoshop versions that can take a newer file and regenerate it making whatever necessary changes to maintain compatibility across older Photoshop versions and even for cross-compatibility. I know that's not necessarily in their best interests for additional sales, but it is in the end-user's best interests when they collaborate with others across various file and application formats.
The first problem here is Layer Styles, if I understand what you are trying to do correctly. You can have arbitrarily nested Layer Sets/Groups (each with its own Layer Style) that contain Layers with their own Layer Styles. This means that for a nested layer, you would have to take it's Layer Style and merge it with the containing Group(s) layer styles in the correct order. Then you have to do the same thing with Layer/Vector Masks and whatever else is involved. It's a non-trivial piece of work. It's not intractable, however.
There is also the problem that some parts of the Layer Styles are binary blobs that make merging at the JS level impossible.
If someone has implemented this, I would love to see the implementation.
What you actually need may be a lot less complicated than the general case. If so, you may be able to find someone to help you out.

When I use my iPhone Siri for dialing, it is better to have the names in the address book listed singularly. But when I want to print envelopes from the address book in a formal manner - "Mr. & Mrs. Smith". Is there any way to have both options?
Only way I can figure is having double entries one with singular + some unique field, (maybe called Siri), then making a Smart group for one or both.

If you mean the iMac does not have an internal optical drive capable of reading DVDs, the only option requires another Mac with a DVD-capable drive and FireWire ports. Your iMac G3 will also require FireWire ports. Not all G3 iMacs have Firewire. FW started with the Summer 2000 models with 400mHz and faster processors.
With FireWire, you can use FireWire Target Disk mode to install from a retail OS install DVD in another Mac. If you supplemental info info tells us if you have another Mac with a DVD reader and the FW ports, we can walk you through the process.
If the iMac has a tray-loading drive, I'd forget it. They are very limited not only in the OS max (10.3.9) but also in RAM capability. Starting with the slot-loading iMac G3s, the max RAM increased to 1 GB (2 X 512MB modlules). Tiger likes 1GB RAM.
Understand that pre-Intel Macs are getting harder to use. Even with 10.4.11, your choice of browsers is limited (TenFourFox is the most viable option) and the G3s rudimentary video hardware means web browsing will be choppy at best.
If you are in the USA, you can try calling the Apple Store (1-800-MY-APPLE) for an OS disk. As recently as Jan 20, someone posted here that they were able to buy Tiger by calling. It was not clear whether the disks were replacement system install/restore disks or full retail install, but it's a free call.
When you do "About this Mac" to check teh OS verion, also look at the processor speed and tell us what that says. That can help with recommendations for an upgrade path. -

You used the data. Verizon can not see what it was sued for. However your phone can see whats apps used the data. go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle. line the dates up with your cycle. then there will be a bar graph below that extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right. after those are extended below that will be a list of apps, there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

Is there any way to emulate "nounix" option when mounting Samba fileshares?
I need to mount an SMB file share from a Linux server that I do not control. The server was recently upgraded to the new version of samba. With that change, the server now supports samba's new "unix extensions". The problem with this is when the file share is mounted on OS X, symbolic links show up broken because their paths are no longer valid (all details were previously posted in this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=8001291). Our environment makes heavy use of symbolic links, so they really need to work transparently.
I know the solution in the previous thread was to disable unix extensions on the server. That is not possible for me in this case. A little googling shows that some linux users (primarily Ubuntu it seems) have gotten around this by adding a "nounix" option to the mount command on the command line. Is there anything comparable in Leopard? Is there a key/value pair that is equivalent to "nounix" that I could use in nsmb.conf? Note that the share shows up just fine in windows because it is not capable of these wonderful new "unix extensions".

I often have clients encounter a list of the songs/movies/apps that won't sync with their iPhone or iPad -- usually due to missing items in thier iTunes library.
Is there any way to copy/save/export that list to facilitate the process of resolving the missing files? That would enable me to fix the issue(s) without the presence of my client or their phone.I would just take a screen shot, but I'd end up needing to take dozens, as the attached screenshot shows...

I am not getting any useful response from Apple, their support for itunes is email only and when I contact them I get a generic email back stating that the issue has been escalated and should expect a response soon. The issue is that my daughter had entered a $15.00 gift card on her iTouch when it should have been entered on my iTouch, none of the funds have since been used on her iTouch and I have no way of even getting to a human to find out atleast what the status is or even if there is a status, no way on their site can this update be achieved. I am a bit diappointed since everyone I speak with that is pro apple never once has anything bad to say abouth their support. My opinion so far is plummeting, it would be nice it someone would give me a call, at the very least, I have even tried to call the main apple support number and gave her the s/n of one of many apple devices, all I got was a sorry you are out of support and to email iTunes support since that how it is provide, not too sure what else I need to do?

Hi, is there a way to "force-mount" an external drive that doesn't show up on the desktop? I have a new Hitachi SATA III 2 TB Ultrastar that won't show up like all the other drives when plugged in. So I can't partition, repair, format etc with Disk Utility, Disk Drill, Tech Tools etc. How do I make it visible?
I use the FW 400 to 800 adapter and a FW hub.
