Is there a way to force firefox to send ajax-request when user clicks on a link and redirect occurs?

I'm trying to send ajax-request with web-analytics data when user clicks on a link. But Firefox cancels the request and moves to the link location. Sync requests or waiting for response is not an option because performance is critical.

Correct me if I'm wrong here:
<code>jQuery.data()</code> saves the <code>{"foo": "bar"}</code> JSON object to variable <code>data</code>, and then the <code>s.tl()</code> call sends <code>data</code> to the server, right?
You could use jQuery's [http://api.jquery.com/event.preventDefault/ <code>event.preventDefault()</code>] method to stop the browser from automatically following the link on click. You could wait until the Ajax request was finished before following the link.

I hope that solved your problem!

  • Is there any way to force Firefox to remember passwords?

As many have complained about, there is a growing trend for websites to prevent browsers, including Firefox, from remembering passwords. This is absolutely infuriating. Like most people, I have on the order of 100 passwords, and thanks to idiotic, overzealous IT guys who need to justify their own jobs, we are forced to constantly change them to ludicrous, impossible-to-remember combinations of symbols and numbers. (Does anybody really get their accounts stolen because some hacker sits down and tries to guess their password? Somehow I find that very, very hard to believe.)
First world problems, I know. My question though is simple: is there any way to force Firefox to remember passwords? Perhaps an add-on or external program of some kind? I know there are password manager programs, but the last time I checked, those were all but worthless and didn't work as well as the built-in Firefox support for remembering passwords. Thanks for any help.

hello andrew, yes you can either [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/remember-passwords/ install an addon] or [https://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/forms.html#remember_password use a bookmarklet] to circumvent this restriction.
in an upcoming version of firefox, this functionality will also be built-in directly into the browser: http://www.ghacks.net/2013/12/24/firefox-29-save-fill-autocompleteoff-passwords/

hai i am using firefox 3.6.When right clicking on a link and a window opens up, i want it to ask me "Open Link in New tab" first, not second.

First, you are using a version of Firefox that is very old and outdated. Please update to at least Firefox 3.6.27, or more preferably, update to Firefox 10.0.2. There are lots of bug fixes, security improvements, and much improved performance in Firefox 10.
After you do that, try seeing if you are still having a problem. If you are, is this that when you try to select "Open in a new tab" it opens in a new window instead? Or something else?

  • Is there a way to force ical to send email invites?

I am not an expert but here is what I think is happening.
I create a new calendar event.
I then add attendees that I want to invite.
The attendees e-mail address is what they have set up as their iCloud ID.
The attendees do NOT use iCloud as their calendar (FYI I have NO way to know this ahead of time).
Because the attendees are registered in iCloud instead of receiving an e-mail notification of the event the notification is just added to their iCloud calendar (which they NEVER check).
End result is that the people I have invited to the event NEVER see the invite.
I would like to be able to force the calendar app to send e-mail notifications and NOT use iCloud. However, I am using iCloud personally to sync my calendar between my iPhone and MacBook.
I think that if all the people I invite would go into their iCloud calendar and select the option to receive event invitations as e-mail and not as in-app notifications all would be good. It is just NOT realistic for me to require all the people I invite to events to make this change.
    Thanks
    Jamie

  • Is there a way to force System.out.println to run when called

I working on my first threaded program and having a hard time debugging. I've used System.out.println to let me know what's going on but due (I assume) to the nature of threads the output is not sequential. Is there a way to force println to execute immediatly so that they show up in the order they were called?
    Thanks --- Mike

endasil, Thanks for the reply. I'm currenlty running the program from within the NetBeans IDE. It is the output displayed by in NetBeans "output" that I'm looking at.
--- MikeI don't use Netbeans, but I would guess that it too pipes Standard Out and Standard Error to the same console. You didn't address my comment. Are you printing to System.err as well? This happens implicitly if you use Exception.printStackTrace(), for example.

  • I am unable to open new tabs, in any way I attempt to do so. I have checked the settings and they are fine, so it's not those. The only way I can open a new tab is to right click on a link and instruct it to open in a new tab.

Any way I attempt to open new tabs, be it clicking on the new tab button or using the short-cut Ctrl-t, I am unable to open any new tabs on my browser window.
The only way I have found that I can open a new tab is to right-click on a link and instruct that link to open in a new window.

Try disabling the Ask Toolbar extension.

  • Is there a way to force SpeedGrade to update its display when it fails to?

I'm on a Retina MacBook Pro, and I've turned of GPU acceleration for SpeedGrade per Adobe's instructions, so it won't crash immediately every time I try to open any sequence.
But I still have a problem: when I draw a mask on the Primary layer, and click the "Apply grading layer to the inside of the mask" button, most of the sliders I use don't have any effect at all. Until, eventually, the screen updates to show what I've done. But sometimes it just never does.
And I'm definitely using SpeedGrade correctly; it's just that the display only sometimes updates. I mean, I can drag Input Saturation ALL the way to the right, then toggle the Primary layer on and off a few times...and then suddenly the person's face turns orange. But only after I click around for a while and wait.
What's wrong? Will these problems go away once GPU acceleration is fixed for Intel Iris graphics on the Retina MacBook Pro? Or...?
I have to say, frankly, that while I love the idea of SpeedGrade, between (months ago) very, very long waits (literally ten minutes) to open a project via Dynamic Link, to the frequent crashes, to this problem now, that I've never been able to simply use SpeedGrade as intended. Every single time I've opened it in the last year, I've had a string of problems. Meanwhile, while I've had some issues with Premiere, it's generally been reliable and a pleasure to use, just like Media Encoder and many other parts of the suite. So when is SpeedGrade going to get the same bugfixing love the other apps get?
And in the meantime, what can I do to get SpeedGrade working??

Speedgrade uses some of similar back-coding to PrPro, but much of it is quite different. So the melding of the two within a Direct - to - Sg link workflow (as it seems you are using) is a bit ... complicated. And clearly still uses more and in some cases specific resources than would be used in either program run alone. That said, there's a couple things that might help you.
First ... after the "handoff", when you are looking at a Speedgrade UI with your project loaded, close down ALL other apps open, including but ESPECIALLY PrPro. Sg will start up PrPro for you when you click on the icon to save & return to PrPro. This helps a lot of the time.
Second ... realize that masking within a DL session is ... difficult ... for the program to handle and may overtax your laptop's capabilities. They've improved the abilities of masks to function in DL operation, but it's still not nearly the same as say Sg can do if in a "native" mode ... working your footage within say an EDL style session, where Sg is working on it's own project file, an " ircp-dot" file. A bit more complicate & time consuming to prep for, but might actually work while doing your grading.

  • Why is it that now when i click on a link and i mean every link i am asked by firefox to allow this. is this a new feature cos if it is its damned annoying

in firefox now every link i click on always goes to allow to go to the link. Is there a way to disable this cos if its a new feature its damned annoying.

In firefox, click on tools, then options, then click on tabs and tick the last option in tabs that say "When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately".
    I hope this helps.

  • Why does firefox opens new window/tab when i click on a link

if I click any link in Firefox it will open another blank window in addition to the link clicked, blank window opens on top. how do I stop this

If a website codes its links to open in a new window, you can divert that to a new tab.
The basic setting for this is here:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Tabs
The first checkbox: "Open new windows in a new tab instead"
In some cases, a website uses a script to launch a new window with special features, such as a set height/width, or with one or more toolbars removed. To avoid breaking sites that create dialog boxes this way, Firefox does not normally divert this kind of window to a new tab. However, if you wanted to send these to a tab as well, there is a hidden setting you can change. (See: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1035103#answer-662627])
If Firefox is sending ALL links to new windows or new tabs, you might have an extension like Tab Mix Plus or Tab Utilities which changes the built-in tab handling features. You would need to explore their settings to get it just the way you want it.

  • After updating Firefox to 10.0.2, when I click on a link in an email, I get an error box saying "There was a problem sending a command to the program".

I have not changed/updated my mail client, Windows Live Mail, so I assume the problem is with the updated Firefox.

  • Wy does firefox open a new window when i click on "open link on a new tab"?????

the only time i shutdown a window is when i shutdown firefox.
having mutiple windows invites to mistakes. please fix.

That issue can be caused by an extension that isn't working properly.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Firefox display odd characters when I click an mp4 link

Up until about a month ago, I could click a link to an mp4 file and it would stream in my browser perfectly - now, I get square characters and question marks - just a bunch of giberish. These videos play perfectly in Safari, Chrome and IE.
I'm on FF 31.0 and the browser reports that Firefox is up to date. What changed with the recent updates?

This happens if the server sends the file as text/html or as text/plain.
In such a case Firefox will try to render the page instead of opening it in a media player.
This can also happen if you ever got the "Open with" dialog when you clicked such a link and have chosen to open file in Firefox.
You should never do this to avoid such an issue and you will have to remove this action in Firefox > Preferences > Applications
    *http://kb.mozillazine.org/File_types_and_download_actions
If that wasn't possible then rename (or delete) the mimeTypes.rdf file in the Firefox profile folder to reset all file actions.

  • Is there a way to force the revalidation of last visited page on start of Firefox whithout no-store directive?

When I set Firefox to start from last visited page and this page contains response headers Cache-Control:mast-revalidate and Expires:0 (not in meta tag) the page doesn't revalidated on the start of Firefox.
Is there a way to force the revalidation in such situation but using the cache as usual. I mean - I can't use no-store directive in Firefox (can in Opera and Chrome) since it prevents usage of cache at all (and Last Modified mechanism in particular) ?

Thanks try67, but it isn't a required field.  As I mentioned, only about 20% of submissions will require filling it in.
There isn't a submit button.  Not even sure what I would do with/or how I would implement a submit button.  After processing the form, the filled out form is 'Saved As' to keep the original forms integrity intact.  The 'Saved As' file  is renamed appropriately, and then it is printed to a PDF file and attached to the appropriate customer file.

  • On a large monitor, the bookmarks toolbar is opening outside of the Firefox window itself - is there any way to force it to stay inside?

Recently I installed Windows 7 on my computer, along with a device called a Triplehead2Go, which spoofs the operating system into thinking that the computer has one monitor attached (when it really has three). When the Firefox window is relatively small on the desktop and with excess space to the right, the bookmarks toolbar opens to the right (and extends outside of the window). This creates a problem for me, as the monitor bezels get in the way of navigation. When the Firefox window is all the way to the right of the desktop, the bookmarks toolbar opens inside of the window (as there is not enough space to the right for it).
Is there any way to force this menu to stay within its boundaries?

The screen dimensions are "right," but I don't want it to use up any more space on-screen than is in the window.
