Restore them from your backup or use a product such as Data Rescue or FileSalvage.

  • Is there a way to move files from one folder to another without copying and pasting and then going back to delete the original?

Is there a way to move files from one folder to another without copying and pasting and then going back to delete the original?  The cut and paste function is not available and there's no "move to" function.  Am I missing something?  It was so easy with Windows.

Drag the files, or press Option when pasting them; this accesses the Move To function.

  • Is there any way to retrieve photos from a 5c that has gone into recovery mode?

is there any way to retrieve photos from a 5c that has gone into recovery mode?

No, by the time its in recovery mode it's too late. The contents of the phone are gone. Did enable any of the ways that Apple provides to back up photos?
Backup the phone to your computer
Automatic daily iPhone backup to iCloud
    enable Photo Stream
Copy photos to your computer using a USB cable and a compatible photo management utility on your computer
    Enable Photo Sharing
    Enable Photo Library backup
OR any of the 3rd party photo management solutions, such as Google Picasa, Google+, Facebook, Shutterfly?
OR any of the cloud sharing services such as box.com or dropbox?
If you have set up any one of these your photos can be retrieved from it.

  • Is there any way to recover files from the guest account on a Mac, after the machine has been logged out?

I had uploaded some photos onto iPhoto on the guest account for my visitors, intending to burn them on departure.
I updated my Mac with a system software update, which required reboot so I of course types in the admin username/password to do so.
I received no warning message "caution: all temporary files in guest account will be deleted if you logout" as if you logout directly from the guest account, so I had forgotten about the guest account wipe.
Just today I switched to the guest user, and was dismayed to find the files gone.
Surely there must be some way to recover these files? Can anyone help?!
    Thanks
    Alan

They possibly still exist on the hard drive if you haven't overwritten that space already.
Your only hope is to try a file recovery program like Data Rescue 3 or some sort like that.
(note: the product linked to is an example of the suggested kind of software that may help you; it is not in any way my recommendation or endorsement of the product. I haven't used this product and can't comment on its effectiveness).

Since you haven't upgraded your iPhone from 4.3 there will also not be an iCloud back-up.,,, so.....
So there is no way to restore it, but before you start rekeying your contacts you should.
    1.  Back it up on Itunes (11.0.1) and a computer, it will help you upgrade your IOS (6.0.1) at the same time.
    2.  When complete ensure you have a back-up.
    3.  Set-up iCloud and iCloud back-up
    4.  Start keying....
    Sorry in advance..

  • HELP!!! Can I get back files from a folder that has been copied over?

I had a file in the trash with the same name as a file on my desktop. I accidentally started copying it from the trash to my desktop. It erased some of the files I had on my desktop in that folder that were very important, before I could stop it from copying. Is there any way to get the files back? They had been on my desktop for a few months. I'm thinking that maybe they are stored somewhere on the computer. I tried a search but came up with nothing. I usually back up to a external hard drive but I didn't this time and I'm paying for it now!

When a file is erased, the space on the drive that the data occupies is not necessarily erased. It is just unallocated, so that other new data can use it. However, until that new data overwrites that same physical space on the drive, your old data may still be recoverable.
To do this, you need to use a data recovery tool. There are tools that specialize in data recovery, such as
    http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
and other tools have a have multiple functions, including data recovery
    http://www.micromat.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=202&Itemid=107
If you want to try recovering the data using such a tool, you should stop using the Mac (or use it as little as possible). Any use of the Mac will make it more likely that the space occupied by the old data will be overwritten. If that happens, the portion that is overwritten will not be recoverable.
This is a good example of when Time Machine (part of Leopard and Snow Leopard) would be extremely helpful. It does backups to an external drive automatically, in the background, once per hour that the Mac is active. You just set it up and then forget about it. You can get any file back that you accidentally erase, even an older version of it.

  • Is there a way to recover files from an old burned CD?

    Hi,
I have a data cd that no longer reads. On my external burner, I get an error message that says something to that effect -- not readable on this computer (or something like that). My superdrive just spits it back out.
No other computer reads it and my MP3 player doesn't read it at all... it just sorta spins in that portable player device. Nothing has allowed me to get any sound out of it.
Had mp3 files and other data (I think).
    It used to run fine.
I had once heard there was some code which if it gets messed up will not allow any access.
Is there a CD recovery feature in OSX?
If not, any idea how to get the data off?
What's the shelf life of disks? I didn't scrape it or anything. Just stopped working.
    Thanks.
    G4 Dual 1.25s   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Thanks.
I'm not sure if they recover optical media either. Will have to look more carefully at their site.
But the fact that there are many PC optical media recovery programs that feature optical media recovery leads me to doubt that Data Rescue can do it.
But like I say, I will look more carefully at their page and perhaps send them an e-mail to be sure.
Appreciate the answer. It was helpful.

  • Is there a way to recover photos from an iphone that is not working?

It fell about 20 feet and shattered, won't turn on.  Anyway someone or some program can access the photos from the hard drive?

Do you have a windows computer? If so I would try to connect the phone to that and follow the steps in this link  http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083 for importing pictures and see if your device is detected. I'm not sure if the phone needs to have power or not when using a windows but I would still try it.

  • Is there a way to transfer files from a mac-book to another computer?

I need to get files off of my damaged Macbook and I'm not sure how to do it. Is there a way to transfer files from my macbook to another computer? The damage is to the screen of my macbook and it is severe- you can only see the top left of screen, the rest is cracked/blacked out. Is there anything I can do?

If the MacBook has a FireWire port, hook it and the other computer up with a FireWire cable, start up the MacBook with the T key held down, and copy the files off.

Is there any way to recover data from a cleared soft partition? <eom>

You could try using 'metarecover'. I don't know if that works after a metaclear, but it's the only think that I could think to try.
I think you could brute-force search for UFS filesystems within the underlying storage, but that's pretty tedious.

My iphone 4 is dead with water damage. Is there a way to recover data from the dead phone. Could any one help where exectly the memory chip (not RAM) resides in the phone. Is it on the motherboard or a seperate component in the phone?

The iPhone's internal components are soldered together. There is no way to recover data from your phone if it refuses to power up.

  • HT4910 i accidently deleted a note from my iphone 5 is there any way to recover it from an icloud backup?

I accidently deleted a note from my iphone 5 is there any way to recover it from icloud?

You have to start by erasing the phone so if there's any newer data on it that is not contained in your last backup, you'll need to save that first.  Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens on the phone and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup.  Then sign into your iCloud account and choose your backup to restore from.
Be sure you phone is connected to wifi and your charger as this may take a while to finish.

Are you saying you were trying to backup your phone but instead it restored your phone from a backup that was two years ago
If so there is no way to recover the recent data that was lost because it wasn't back up.
did you at the very least import your pics to your computer as you would a digital camera?

  • HT201077 Is there a way to delete files locally, on iPad, after they have been backed up in iCloud, without losing any files?

Is there a way to delete files locally, on iPad, after they have been backed up in iCloud, without losing any files? Because iCloud is seeming like it actually doesn't back up anything.. Just clogs up all storage space on every device with duplicate images/videos. I am looking for a delete when backed up feature. Does that exist?
