Is there any news on the shutdown front?

I am a school teacher and I use my new MacBook for classroom stuff and can't afford to have it missing for months at a time being repaired. So I'd like for them to figure this Random Shutdown issue before I send my computer off. So my question is does anybody know if Apple is anywhere close to solving this one? I live out in the boonies hours from the nearest Apple store and can't just drop in at the Genius Bar. Those of you that can, what are the geniuses saying?
For those of you out there tracking these things, mine is a week 21, and the problem has just started popping up recently (past week or so). I have also noticed a slight pattern in the "random shutdowns." Once I get going doing something, like surfing the net, working with video, etc... there hasn't been a problem. It's usually in the first five minutes that I'm doing something - like starting a program or something. The computer will have been on for hours, but it will shut down once I touch it. Once I get it going it doesn't shutdown.

no major news thus far. send the computer in and let them change out a few things or perhaps offer a replacement if they are so inclined. mine had only the logic board changes (and the problem resurfaced) but others have had the motion sensor, heat sink, bezel etc changed out. best of luck.

  • Is there any news about the other version of new iPad 4G?

I really want to use 4G or 3G version of iPad in my city(Hong Kong).
But it seems that Apple do not want to launch any 4G or 3G version of iPad.
    I hate wifi version !

You will just have to wait for Apple to announce availability, no one on here knows their plans.  All we can do is be patient.

  • Is there any news about a pending release of the 3G version of the iPhone?

I am a new Apple convert. I have 2 current iMac (one for the home-office and one for the office-office) computers. I gave up my pocket PC due to conflicts in synching the machines. In April '08, I was going to buy an iPhone, but heard that Apple is going to release an updated unit in june '08. Consequently, I postponed my purchase. Is there any news about the pending update release?

All we know is a new iPhone will be released in 2008 but there is no date yet. Possibly Steve Jobs will give an update at next week's Keynote at the WWDC.
The June update you've heard about refers to Software update 2.0 which will be available for all iPhones some time this month.

You'll just have to make your best guess. Whether Apple will stick to pattern is unknown, though it would seem likely that they'd release new iPhone hardware at the same time that they release the new version of iOS. That may not occur that way, though. If you don't need a new phone now, you can wait and see what happens, but you may be waiting some months.
    Regards.

  • Are there any new All-in-one printers for sale that use the CLI-221 cartridges?

We have a MX870 Printer that needs to be replaced but new cartridges were just purchased from Canon.  Are there any new All-in-one printers for sale that use the CLI-221 cartridges?
    Thanks,
    Margaret

The MX922 (known as the MX926 in Australia) is supported by 10.10 and Windows 7. Whatever site you were looking at may not have updated their details. Here is a link from the Canon Australia web site showing the drivers and applications for this model for 10.10.

  • I attempted to purchase u2's new album - songs of innocence at the itunes store. The icon says "purchased" yet I am quite sure I have not purchased it. There are no songs in my library nor is there any record of the purchase in the account history.

Everyone was given the album. It was a gift from U2 and Apple. You can go to purchases and download it to your device.

  • Is there any truth to the rumor that there is a virus attacking iphones in the form of an iOS update?

Is there any truth to the rumor that there is a virus attacking iphones in the form of an IOS update?

    Absolutely not.
There was a new piece of iOS malware discovered recently, but it, like all other known iOS malware, requires that the device be jailbroken. If your iOS device isn't jailbroken, there's no known malware capable of infecting it.

  • Are there any new data sources?

Hi I have a doubt. Please clarify.
Are there any new data sources for 2LIS_01_S001, 2LIS_11_VAHDR, 2LIS_12_VCHDR. Because in an interview I told that I had extracted from these data sources.
Then the interviewer had asked me, "Is there any specific reason for using the LIS data sources, because SAP has strongly recommended not to use these LIS data souces".
I replied that SAP has recommended not to use LIS extraction to extract the data from these data sources and I used LO extraction to extract data from these data sources.
My first question is, Is it correct what I told to the interviewer?
If what I told to the interviewer is wrong then my second question is
Is there any new name available for these the following data sources:
    2LIS_01_S001,
    2LIS_11_VAHDR,
    2LIS_12_VCHDR
If so please let me know what it is?
    Please advise.
    Thank you.
    TR.

    Hi Anil,
Thank you for that reply. When you say,
"<b>But the DS 2LIS_01_S001 is old one</b>, These DS can be replaced by all Latest 11,12 and 13 application Datasources."
What is the new name for the customer data source 2LIS_01_S001?
Also is there any link or any document where I can get a list of the old data sources and the new ones. Please advise.
    Thank you.
    TR.

  • Are there any new Macbook pro laptops coming out soon?

Are there any new Macbook pro laptops coming out soon? Because if there are i will wait to buy one.

There are always new MacBook Pro models coming out soon. However with current 2011 models you can install the faster, Rosetta program loving OS X Snow Leopard with a hack, instead of the new clitchy and unstable OS X Lion.
So you have a choice now, but for not much longer. If you wait another 6 -8 months, Lion will be stable and more programs will be compatible with it.
If this is your first Mac, I would wait. If you can do a simple hack with another Snow Leopard Mac, then you can opt to get one now and revert it to Snow Leopard and have a stable machine.
Else take your chances with Lion.

  • Are there any new printing options?

Are there any new printing options in iPhoto 6?
Such as printing the images with file name and/or comment?
Or printing 4 of them on a single sheet of paper and get them in the correct (reading) order?

Interesting thing is that I do not have a Print button at the bottom of my iPhoto window. I can get to the print window via the menu but no print button. The preference file has Toolbarshowprint set to yes but no button. Strange. Where is it on your iPhoto, between which other buttons?

  • HT6058 Is there any change in the MODERN FIRMWARE??

Is there any change in the MODERN FIRMWARE with the new ios update of 7.0.4?

So, yes there are changes.  That is what an update is.

  • Is there any difference between the 2 different USB cords when syncing???

I know this may be a paranoid question to ask but I just wanted to make sure.
Is there any difference between the newer USB cords with the shorter plug (the end that goes into the iPhone) and the older ones with the bigger, square-shaped plugs that you can pinch on the sides to retract?
Is there a difference in transfer speed, syncing speed, or reliability, or build quality?
Just asking cuz the newer USB cord that came with my iPhone 3GS is getting frayed and so I'm using the older one instead.
    Thanks to whoever helps.

No difference except, as you noted, you have to squeeze the older one to remove it. It's important that you do that so you don't damage it or the iPod.

  • Are there any problems using the Ipad while is is plugged into the wall and charging?

Are there any contraindications using the Ipad while it is plugged into the wall and charging???

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • Is there any limit in the number of pictures archived ?

    Hello,
I am currently using Adobe PhotoShop Album V1.0 and I have 5798 pictures stored in the database (the .psa file is 18 Mo).
1/ I would like to know if there is any upper limit ? Can I continue to add pictures or should I create a new album file ??
Is there any new version which exists, I do not find the product anymore (I just bought an iPhone, and I LOVE apple products, I would like to continue with it). If a new product exists:
2/ Can I easily import all the data already existing in my PhotoShop Album version (without loosing tags, etc...) ???
3/ Is there any special price/discount for someone who has PhotoShop Album ?
    Thanks for your help,
    Kamayana

According to the Adobe website the support option for Photoshop Album Starter Edition ended in June 2009 but you can transition your photos to the new Photoshop.com offering:  http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopalbum/starter.html
With regard to Adobe not taking care of its customers,  it is unfortunately a fact of life that software companies sometimes discontinue products and at some point eliminate support for discontinued products. It is just too expensive to train technicians to support all previous product versions.  Company employees who developed the product or used to know about it in detail may have moved on to other positions or even to other companies, so theoretically the know-how may not even be available within the company in some cases.  That is one reason why user communities are so important!
I'm sorry I can't answer your primary question - good luck!
