Is there FiOS in Los Gatos, CA? {Silicon Valley}

Los Gatos, CA is the ONE suburb in Silicon Valley/Bay Area/Northern California that is still Verizon ILEC territory in the metro areas. All of it is surrounded by AT&T and U-verse. I was wondering if ever Verizon was going to be deploying FiOS in this area. I'm thinking of possibly moving there. It's a very affluent community. I checked your website and you only offer up to 15M DSL in the Los Gatos suburb. FiOS 150M would be awesome for me.

No, at current FIOS is only in S. CA. The farthest north that they have is Oxnard, CA. (at present). I know that they have a licence to go statewide, but at present they are only in the southland.

  • Apple Los Gatos E-mail

    Hi,
Can you guys provide me with an e-mail of Apple Store Los Gatos? I'd like to make a reservation for an iPad and I can't really find any e-mails anywhere, or any phone numbers.
I apologize if this is the wrong place for this question, but I don't really know where to ask.
By the way, do any of you guys know if there's any chance I could get my hands on an iPad at the Los Gatos store?
    Thanks.

I don't know about email, but try http://www.apple.com/retail/locator/index.html?storename=Apple%20Store&q=Los%20G atos%2C%20CA which lists the Los Gatos store and several others that are nearby. There's at least a phone number there.
I'm not 100% sure that iPad reservations are still being taken, but the store should know.

  • How come when I tap the back of my iPhone next to the camera, it sounds like there is a lose piece in inside?

I just got my iPhone so i can't imagine there is anything wrong, but I noticed that when I tap the back of my iPhone next to the camera, it sounds like there is a lose piece in inside. Also, when I put the iPhone down on a desk or table i hear the same sound. Wondering if this is normal?

    Hi JRM833,
That would be enough to make me worry as well. I've not seen (or heard, in this case) that happen on any of my iPhones, or any others that I've been around (friends, family, etc.).
I would say that no, that isn't normal. If you're near one, take it to an Apple store. Or, if you made your purchase at the wireless carrier you've chosen, take it back to them to see if they could help you out.
    Best of luck.

  • 4G shown but not actually working, 3G working but my phone is not always in - in the Silicon Valley!

I have a Samsung Note 2 and was enjoying 4G LTE almost everywhere I work and live.  Since several months ago, the LTE connection near my work is very intermittent or almost useless, even though the phone shows "4G" on the screen.  It usually keeps showing "4G" but transfers too little data to show a meaningful webpage.  If it does go to the "3G" mode, which occurs only some days, data transfer becomes just fine.  Even if 3G can't be faster than "normal" 4G, in my case it is at least usable.  However, as far as I know, there is no way to lock Verizon Note 2 in the 3G mode.
Therefore, I cannot use Verizon's mobile internet near my work, where I spend most of my days!   It is especially inconvenient when I go for a break or lunch and do not find wifi.
It shouldn't be my phone problem, since I have no problem at home (and almost everywhere else nearby) to use 4G.  I still have an old unlimited data plan but do not use many GB a month (usually way less than 2GB).
By the way, my work is right in the middle of the Silicon Valley!  Isn't this funny that we have a serious connection problem here?
(Near Orchard Parkway and Orchard Drive, San Jose, CA.)
It'll be great if Verizon finds/solves any existing problem nearby.  Thanks in advance!

    (Just to add a detail)
I have had this problem for many months already.  Before that, there was no problem inside the building.  Now, I have this problem even outside in this flat area.  It is sometimes better (slow but showing a webpage) but usually so bad (stops while loading or just shows a bad connection message).

  • TS1474 I have a friend who is moving to Australia she has been told that if she plugs her ipod into a computer over there she will lose everything on it. Is this true.

I am moving to Australia to live. Can I resync my ipod with itunes on a computer over there without losing everything.

Wait, is this for a friend of for you?  And yes, that is true. Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time.  If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devicestab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Before doing anything else,  authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account.  In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.
    iOS: How to back up
Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc.  For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.  For all other nonpurchased iTunes content, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering different software available to assist you with this task.
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2452022?start=0&tstart=0
Once the backup has been made and all other synced content such as music, videos, and photos are back in your iTunes library, restore your iPod from that backup you made earlier.  Here is more on backing up and restoring your iPod.

  • Why have thousands of my photos appeared on my bookmark bar and if i delete them from there will i lose them completely

I really dont want to loose these photos. O, and how the **** has this happened?

Sometimes an accidental click somewhere can produce such an abberation.   Or a bit of fluff in a mouse, whatever.  The main question is are the originals of all those photos residing safely in your iPhoto files?    If so, deleting them should not cause problems.
Time Machine, if you have it, can also bring back 'lost' photos and you always have the option of rebuilding.
Incidentally, could you review your profile as there is nothing to tell us what Mac OS and machine you are using.   Just Windows.

  • How to copy picture into email from iPhoto 9.6 (910.29) after OS X Yosemite download

    Hi.
Since updating to Yosemite on MacBook Air when I try to copy and paste a photo from iPhoto to an email instead of the photo coming up in the email, which it has always done, I get something like this pasted in the email ...file:111Users/Pictures?iPhoto%20Library/Previews/2014/09/11/20140911144300/u kEgw etc etc etc ... ending in .jpg.
How please do I now send a picture in an aol email, or what do I untick or tick, to change the above figures and numbers to the actual photo, so when I copy and paste a photo from iPhoto, the picture comes up in an aol email and not gobbledegook (sorry computer bods!!!) figures and numbers!!
    Very many thanks.
    Bobby

Well, I will tackle the picture problem and see what I can learn.  I am in Los Gatos, California (Silicon Valley) and there is an Apple store 2 miles away so I will go in ask them about this. It will take me a couple of days  to get that done likely.  Frankly, I have the same general problem about pasting stuff into that screen where you are writing emails.  Something amiss here.
I am unfamiliar with the problem you have with BlueTooth interfering with WiFi and think that is likely specific to you, or more likely something completely different that LOOKS like a Bluetooth related problem.  I am normally and right this minute running a BlueTooth keyboard and mouse and the computer is a MacBook Pro connected via WiFi through an Apple Extreme router to the internet and to my printer.  I have had no issues that I know of between BlueTooth and WiFi.  The same is true for the iPad and a bluetooth keyboard which communicates by WiFi with this home network and my iPhone and Bluetooth headset that I use adjacent to the computer.  All this worked "right out of the box" so to speak
    Thanks for your reply

  • HT204409 I have a new iphone 5 and it won't connect to a wireless router that my old iphone 3GS would pick up. Is there a compatibility issue with some routers or is the antenna weaker in the new iphone 5?

Re: Anyone still having IOS 6 wifi issues?
created by mpa9366 in Using iPad - View the full discussion
Having done a lot of reading today and having found a very good online tablet magazine (will post link tomorrow) there seems to be a few tech bods onto the problem.
The magazine I was reading identified wifi problems within hours of the ios 6 release and have been analysing since then with almost daily updates - the story seems to be:
The apple authenthication transmission is normal, it should slip through event prior to a full handshake with the host network being completed - however if not authenthicated then apple will not permit the device to connect (kills the connection) this is designed to protect apple from counterfeiting. So thats problem 1 if you dont receive a token from apple.
Problem 2 is that ios 6 only supports ipv6 (the new ip protocol) whereas outside silicon valley a large proportion of routers modems etc are still ipv4 protocol.
So youre locked into ipv6 in a world where ipv4 devices are everywhere and apple have not allowed for the ability to handle both protocols. This is like GM telling you your car requires an upgrade, everything will improve etc and as part of the upgrade fits a fuel cell motor and stays silent when their upgraded vehicles are simply parked up because they cannot get fuel.
A very basic expectation would have been dual protocol handling - we know the HW supports ipv4 as all wad fine on ios5.
So its going to be hit and miss with networks - more hit than miss in techy areas like silicon valley, but more miss in places like where I am - a small town in rural Switzerland.
Only apple can fix this with a patch to enable ipv4 protocol handling.
There you go. you just need to buy a new router, I'm sure Apple has one for sale, cause it's not there fault for sure.
Wonder why people start to migrate to other devices ?

  • Is there any customer satisfaction policy on Iphone 4S?

I have been using Apple products for years now. I also have convinced almost all of my friends and relatives to try them as well. But I am very dissapointed with my new $200 Iphone4S+2 year Verizon contract. It has giving me trouble since I bought it(apps crash, speaker works sometimes, general crash from the main image,etc..), after 5 months of resetting my 4S finally I decided to make the long drive and take it to Los Gatos Apple Store hoping they could just replace it or do something that could make me have a fresh start with the product, no it didn´t happen unfortunately even thou i spend half of my day in it. Now I´m stuck with this phone that was supposed to be fixed after two hours on the store with the host coming back and forth, and after that I drove back home and still havent find out if the phone was fixed entirely due to Itunes lack of response in a new issue regarding my address, seems that now Itunes doesnt recognizes the address that has been in their system for months now.
So like I said, since my issue hasn´t been resolved,  thought of giving the phone back and the guy at the apple store told me that the first thirty days where the time frame to return it, now i have to live with the most expensive phone I have ever bought that offers to be very smart but hasn´t been reliable at all. First time in 15 years that this happens to me with a mobile phone, maybe just being unlucky but Apple doesn´t seem to care much and unfortunately my perception of what Apple represented has changed very much.
    Anyone has any suggestions?

You can sell it for a lot of money on eBay or Amazon if you don't want it.  Just be aware that you will still be stuck in your two year contract with Verizon.
I find it pretty unbelievable that they wouldn't give you a new phone though considering the phone is still under warranty.  Did you call AppleCare?

  • Interlacing, blurred photos, exporting lose of quality

    Hello all,
I am beginning to feel a little frustrated with FCE and iDVD. I used to make all of my movies in iMovie and then export to iDVD with very few issues. I upgraded to FCE a year ago and have loved the additional features it provides. However, I have a few frustrations with my projects that I am hoping to find answers for.
    1. Imported photos in FCE are blurry during first moment or two of viewed duration, and then focuses properly for remainder of duration. Why does happen and how can I fix it. (If I create a slideshow in iPhoto and then import it into FCE, the issue goes away, but I'd like to eliminate going through iPhoto)
    2. It seems that when I import my videos into FCE there is a lost of quality. There is further lose when exported out of FCE. I have tired exporting using Quicktime Conversion and Quicktime Movie. Using Quicktime Movie and self containing the video seems to work best.
    3. iDVD, even when set to Professional Quality, still has interlacing issues upon burning a disc. After hours and hours of working to get a video to iDVD in acceptable quality, it is very frustrating to now be able to play the DVD on a large TV. I've tried exporting from FCE in different resolutions, sizes, etc, but iDVD still seems to have issues with burning the final product. Even if it looks great in the preview, it still comes out terrible on the DVD.
Any help on these issues would be great. Thank you in advance.

What format are you working in? What are the item properties of your clips and of the sequence in which you're editing?
    1. This is a very complex subject. First, are you looking at the rendered output on a video monitor? Have the graphics been prepared for video display? Have you done a forum search about this?
    2. Assuming your sequence settings are correct you export to QuickTime Movie.
    3. If you're working in an interlaced format your media is supposed to be interlaced and viewed on a television set.

  • IPhone 4S top speaker lose?

Gang, I really cannot tell if this is normal or not.  My brand new iPhone 4S seams to have a lose part inside.  It is nothing major, but noticeable.  If a tap I the back side of my iPhone, by the top (ear) speaker, it vibrate--it feels like there is something lose inside the phone.  I took it to the apple sore and the gentlemen that helped me out said that their is something that vibrates up there.   It does not interfere with call or sound quality, but I wonder if this is normal.  Any imput will be appreciate.
    Thanks,
    M

You have done everything at this point it sounds like hardware. Apple give you a complimetry one year warranty if your still with in that you can get a replacement phone

  • NB205 - very poor product and service, do not buy Toshiba!! Completely dead in 6 months

I am posting this to warn as many people as possible to avoid buying Toshiba in the future.  Not only was the product faulty, which I can understand sometimes happens w mass production.  But the service was completely unacceptable, which was the deciding factor for me.
    1.  My new Netbook NB-205/BL started intermittently shutting down for no reason (complete black screen, not even to blue screen).  By the time I returned home from my trip it had stopped working altogether.  The power light will come on, and the fan/hard disk will try to spin for a split second and then go silent and stop completely.
    2.  Upon calling tech support who walked me through a bunch of diagnostic attempts (removing and re-inserting battery, etc.), they concluded it was dead and I needed to send it in.
    3.  The only thing I really care about is my data as I had stored a bunch of invaluable photos and downloaded about $200 worth of Amazon MP3s since receiving the Toshiba NB205.
    4.  Tech support assured me they would back up the hard drive for me and ship either a fixed or new computer with all my data still intact.  They asked me to register it w their warranty department and call them back so they could send me a shipping box to send it back in.  I did all that and it's been >3 weeks and no box.
    5.  So today I called Tech Support again and the guy goes "Oh yes, you have shipped your computer in for a hard drive failure?".  At which point I had to explain how A) it's not a hard drive failure B) I haven't shipped anything anywhere because I never got the box I was promised.
    6.  Then I proceed to ask him again if my data would be safe, to which he informs me it's Toshiba policy/practice not to back up data for customers.  I found this to be unacceptable and then I didn't know who to trust so I asked for a supervisor.
    7.  This supervisor wasn't able to help me either as he further informed me that they will not back anything up for me AND that I had to pay for shipping AND pay an authorized Toshiba Repair Center to back my hard drive up.
    8.  I suggested what everyone who I've talked to has said:  Toshiba could send me a new computer since they've diagnosed the old one as being dead.  I could swap out the hard drives, or they could send me one without a hard drive.  And I could send them back the dead NB205.
    9.  NO was the answer.  Toshiba wouldn't do anything for me, because software issues are NOT under warranty.  And backing up my hard drive is considered to be a software issue.  I repeatedly told him that it's their defective hardware that is causing the need for data backup.  But this went ignored and I was told they don't cover anything in this case.
I either had to lose my data or pay probably $100 for a Toshiba dealer to back up my data for me.  Oh yeah, and there isn't one of those within 20 miles of me and I live in Silicon Valley!!  Oh yes, and they want me to pay to ship them the dead computer.
    10.  I finally asked him how he would feel if he was the customer, and if he felt this was any way to treat Toshiba customers.  He replied by saying they have a process, and this is the process!
Well the next time I and any of you are in our "process" of deciding which brand of technology to buy, I'm certainly not going to consider Toshiba anymore.  This is the second chance I'm giving Toshiba after having a very poor laptop AND service experience in 2000.  Well, it took me 9 years to give them another shot, and I'm never going to trust them again.  I told myself "well, it's a high quality Japanese brand, one that commands a premium in price that people are willing to pay so it should be an excellent product.  AND if things do go pooryly, Toshiba will stand behind their name."
I was SO wrong!!!  Let this be a message to all people out there, as I did read these forums before buying my product, but the NB205 was so new it didn't have many posts.
Fool me once, shame on you.  Fool me twice, shame on me!  I'm done with you Toshiba, it's really too bad that you will not honor your brand with fair treatment of your customers.
    Ming Wu

It isn't that difficult to back up the data from the hard drive.  You can easily do it yourself for about $20.  http://www.datarecoverytutorial.com/recover-data-from-failed-laptop-notebook/
As for Toshiba backing up your data, ALL of the manufacturer's have that same policy.  NONE of them will backup the data for you nor will they guarantee that your system will be returned with the existing data intact.  This is spelled out in the Warranty documents and is fairly common knowledge amongst most computer users.
If the data was that important you should have been backing it up to USB flash drives, a usb external hard drive, or some other backup device on a daily basis just for this very reason.  The fact that you failed to do so doesn't make it Toshiba's problem.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • No Mailed Check received for My Return

I returned 3 iphone 6 to the Apple Store at Los Gatos, CA
on Oct 1, 2014 and I was promised to receive 3 mail checks before Oct 7th by the manager.
However, I still have not received my checks today and since I have been relocated to another country, it’s extremely difficult and inconvenient for me to call the store. I told the manager specifically that I will be out of states by Oct 17th and he said “ it won’t be a problem”.I don’t know what happened and why it takes so long. I generally feel satisfied about the customer service of Apple but this time I’m very disappointed.
I tried to contact apple but there is no way for me to use email. I'm not sure if posting question here helps but it seems I have no other choices.
My email is [email protected], if anyone (maybe apple?) can help, email me, thank you.

It's not easy for me to call from another country. Plus, I had my friends call the store and after many transfers, they said " I do not have access to this information and I'll check and see what I can do". Then my friends left theirs phone numbers and never hear back from the store. They have been checking for 2 weeks after my friends called.
