Is there still any hope to have virtualization feature for my compaq 620 energy star notebook?
Dear HP Support,
it looks like that the motherboard of my compaq 620 energy star notebook doesn't support virtualization technology, even though replace the processor with one with virtualization feature, my notebook still can't have virtualization feature. moreover it is said the CPU socket type of notebook is soldiered to the motherboard, so the processor of notebook can't be replaced. if this is the case, it seems that i can't replace the processor of my notebook.
am i correct? is there still any hope to have virtualization feature for my compaq 620 energy star notebook?

The processor can be upgraded; it is socketed. However, virtualization must be implemented in the motherboard and BIOS and without that, upgrading the processor will do no good. Which processor do you have?

See page 120....virtualization is possible on some models but I am going to assume only the models with a Core2 Duo processor. Celeron and Pentium Dual models use a different chipset on the motherboard so even if you put in a Virtualization capable CPU it would not work.

Just switched from safari on my imac. When using search menu in safari I had the option to "find on this page," which was an incredible help while doing research and looking for specific phrases/words. Is there any way to have this feature using firefox?
I think Safari has the same keyboard shortcut as Firefox "command+F" on a Mac or "Ctrl+F" on Windows.
Look in the lower left corner for the Find. There are more likely to be differences in Find Next and Find Previous in the keyboard shortcuts, but continuing at the Find bar at the bottom doesn't matter what browser you use. There is an "X" there to dismiss the Find bar. In Windows the "Esc" key will dismiss the bar if you are within the find text entry area.

Why ist there still no 5.0a2 x64 windows version for download?
Even the 4.0 x64 windews version was imho stable enough for a release. But the x64 version was planned for 5.0.
But where ist the test version?

As I'm typing this to y'all, I'm chatting with a LIVE Mozilla Firefox Support agent online in regards to the x64.
This particular agent advised as of the Firefox 3.0 edition, the 64bit version was available to be downloaded for use. I have spent the last 1.5hrs trying to get this strighten out as they claim that the 64bits are released but I have proved to him, NO WHERE on this site does it claim there has been a 64bit release.
I have also sited the two different links [http://techblog.weblineindia.com/news/firefox-5-0-to-have-64-bit-version-for-windows-in-2011 Firefox 5.0 to have 64-bit Version for Windows in 2011] and also [[822874|Why is't there still no 5.0a2 x64 windows version for download?]] where clearly states there is nothing.
Fortunately for us, Mozilla has decided to make a higher version called Nightly 8.0 which DOES NOT have any of the add-on that you might be looking for, but to be honest, this version of browser is honestly ONE OF THE BEST I've ever used despite the lack of add-on available. I believe this would definitely make your browser perform a bit better, and if you have some patience with Firefox/Nightly, they'll eventually come out with add-on bit by bit.
In my final saying, I hope you guys encourage the techs you correspond with, have done all their research before you disconnect with them as it could be really difficult to wait for them to come back online from whatever they're doing.

To show the battery percentage used go to settings
from there click general scroll to usage and select
scroll to bottom of page for battery usage select on.
This will show the icon battery and the percent numbers on the top right.
When phone is connected to an outlet sometimes it does not always show complete charge. I do not understand why but it is what it is.

I was wondering, does UCS 6200 series fabric interconnect have autosensing /auto negotiation feature for Fiber Channel ports? I have ucs 6296 with 8Gb FC sfp ports and storage that has 4Gb FC ports. I'am consering that my storage won't connect to fabric interconnect.Yes, 8G SFP should work with 4G peer.
If you want directly connect your storage to UCS 6200, you have to configure FC switch mode on the fabric interconnect (default is FC end host mode = NPV)

I have some old files from my teenage years (circa 1990s) backed up on my whiz-bang modern-day Mac. I've been trying to remember the name of the application that created these files. I think the program had "Storybook" in its name, and it was basically page layout software let you create your own illustrated stories using stock art. Kind of like a precursor to Adobe InDesign, but for kids. At least, I think that's what it did. And it may or may not have involved animation. I really can't remember.
Here is the icon that I placed on my folder, which I believe is the same icon as the application:
Anyone recognize it and know the name of the app? And if so, is there any way I can hope to open these files again, without purchasing an old machine that runs System 7 and tracking down floppy disks of the application?

Arch linux for SPARC, is there still any activity?

I just got my hands on some sparc servers and I'd love to put arch linux on there.
I found a wiki-page about SPARCH, but the last real edit is over 2 years ago, and the repository is down.
Is anyone still interested in this / working on this?

It's been a while since he worked with the SPARC version, and can't find the files anymore.
However, he does have some very useful basic information regarding what the basic problems with the porting process were, the framework he used (Cross-LFS; http://trac.cross-lfs.org/) and so on. Dave also mentioned, it was far faster to do the compiling on his x86 desktop than the actual SPARC box.
I'm highly motivated in getting something done about porting Arch to SPARC. Haven't done anything quite like this before, but that's not a problem. Lack of time might be though, which is why I'm hereby announcing I'm looking for volunteers to participate in a group effort to get the porting moving along and fully available to the public as soon as possible.
What I can offer is this:
- Server space from a fast x86_64 Sun Blade (running Arch) to host repositories and possibly do some compiling as well; 1 gbit uplink
- A Sun Fire V240 with 2 CPUs (1.5 GHz if I remember right) and 4 GB RAM for compiling / testing
- A plan, lots of ideas, an open mind and skills in areas such as design & co-operation
I would love to get involved in the actual porting myself as well, but as things look at the moment, I will only have the chance to do so occasionally and for short periods of time.
I can and very much wish to participate in designing the whole process though, and the first couple of people I feel the project needs would be designers / project leaders as well. Someone(s) with previous experience in porting any OS to any new architecture would be useful to say the least.
I'm also seriously thinking about kind of combining OpenBSD and / or DragonFly BSD with some parts of Arch. Can't really say which would be the dominating "gene" but Pacman and the rolling release approach are one of the key points of the whole thing. I used OpenBSD for years and loved it for its security and stability, but keeping it up to date and clean (no old libraries around etc.) means you will have to re-install it once a year. I got so tired of that I could simply not go on, and after lots of research ended up with Arch - which I love, apart from the fact that some things keep changing so radically that it's easy to drop out of the smooth upgrade track and get your otherwise super-stable server messed up.
So, this secondary plan of mine has to do with taking the best parts of OpenBSD, DragonFly and Arch, and putting it all together in a way that provides a super-stable, secure and KISS distribution heavily targeted at the server scene, possibly being available as 64-bit only. If it's based on Linux kernel then it will have things such as GRSecurity installed and on by default. Server software packages designed to be chrooted (or at least providing a chrooted version) whenever possible, and so on. Clear, unified way of how the system is configured and how the init works - this is where I'm thinking about the Arch way again. I am leaning towards using the OpenBSD kernel but importing lots of stuff from Arch / Linux.

I just got my Ipad 3rd generation a few days ago and for my case I got the bulky BELKIN Bluetooth keyboard. I notice that when I press down the arrow keys it does not seem to scroll down when searching a web browser or looking up web pages. However it works fine when scrolling down on office apps such as Pages. I'm wondering if is there a way to make the arrow keys on the keyboard scroll down when on an internet web page like my Mac does.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
I have a mac os x 10.7.3 and am trying to install a dell v515w printer. Have tried numerous times to find driver, but mac says not compatible. I read something about using a Lexmark driver. Any suggestions???

Is there any way to have unique setup for each Application in a single CSF
Hello all,
I am finding that i need more control with CSF files than just syncronising a generic setting that was made in one application...
For example, for the same workflow, I need to have different policies in different applications such as:
"Preserve CMYK" in Photoshop to correctly honor profiles in the images etc,
"CMYK off" in indesign to properly preserve the Separation for my output style.
Is there any way that i can make one CSF file that works differently on each application?
Thanks!I'm not a ID power useful. I do own and use it ocassionally but I'm linking all the documents. That said, if I want say ProPhoto RGB to be the preferred RGB working space and I open a doc in sRGB, is that a problem in ID? Converting to ProPhoto in this case is senseless. Just leave the document in sRGB. Upon output, multiple images in differing color spaces should (should) be OK upon conversion to an output color space. Does ID have to have all images in the same color space to print?
This is probably more evident when looking at a CMYK workflow. Although indesign will let you export PDF's with multiple different embedded profiles, I try to avoid this as it tends to result in issues like illustrator graphics that contain black objects which separate into 4 colour and cause potential registration issues on press etc...
I am trying to remove all CMYK profiles and then asign an output intent by creating a PDFX file but so far the only way to consistently & reliabaly do it appears to be to set the CMYK policy to off in indesign...
IMO a print ready PDF should only have one profile which describes the printing propcess that will be used to for the file.

Its been almost 6 months now & I still cant find a fix for those "Kernel attacks" destroying my stock 2010 2.66 Ghz i7 macbook pro. Adding to my disappointment, is that I visited both authorized distributors and/or dealers in my country (Egypt - Best buy & Tradeline) & they had absolutely no idea of whats going on. That said, when i researched the error on the community forums, I found out that many others are infected with this manufacturing defect in the logic or display boards, causing black screens & system halts, where the only solution is to shutdown. I bought my laptop from the states (LA), and I absolutely have no idea regarding apple's goodwill towards such a devastating customer experience.
