Does anyone have information about the toshiba vista sp1 support? There is no official statement anywhere as far as I know. I encountered problems after the sp1 installation yesterday, so I was looking for help on the toshiba website, but there was no inforamtion.

I have been noticing alot of activity recently in the Test Engineering world for Non Windows Platforms for scripting which TestStand is good at. A lot of the industry is moving towards open source scripting languages such as Ruby and Python in which LabView applications and other programming languages can be called from. This means test applications can no longer can be platform dependent since Python, Ruby are not OS dependent. Those type of test applications can be run on Mac- OS, Linux and Windows, etc. with very minmal code modifications between them. For one example see:

Our investigation shows that this object that is returned is of the following type:

The interface class we were expecting was: examples.psa.IGlueTest
We are currently running iAS6.0 SP1 in our environment.
We are suspecting that SP1 does not support GLUE's implementation. Is that true?

As far as I know SP1 support is not started but it should happen soon.

Windows Vista Ultimate SP1

Hi, I have installed Vista with the SP1 pack via DVD, however, i do not get the Bootcamp widget thing so I have to reboot and use option key during start-up. And also the keyboard is recognized as Apple keys in wrong place, and how do u shut the DVD Rom!

You get the SAME support for Boot Camp on any Mac Pro it doesn't matter if it's a 08 or pre-08 model.
A Mac Pro, is a Mac Pro and Boot Camp is Boot Camp.
It's a simple process to get your Startup disk options.
First, in Boot Camp (Vista) go to the Control Panel and choose the option to 'see' all of the control panels, there should be one there called Boot Camp, you'll find Startup Disk under this.
If thats not there, you've not got the boot camp drivers correctly installed.
Load up your Leopard DVD in windows, after a few moments, you'll get the Boot Camp installer appear.
If it's already installed you may be asked if you want to remove or repair the install, Choose Repair if you've given this option.
After the drivers are installed, Vista will restart, now you'll find in the Start menu a Apple Software update application, load this with an active internet connection to update your Boot Camp drivers to version 2.1 once thats done, you'll have the latests Vista SP1 supported Drivers for your Mac on Windows.
Note: Vista will use all of your CPU's and all of your RAM.

Trying to Perform an install of SCSM 2012 SP1 - SQL Analysis Services Not Installed

I'm performing a clean install of System Center Service Manager 2012 on a Windows 2012 server. The prerequisite checker told me the Analysis Objects were not installed. I clicked the link and downloaded the SQL Server 2008 R2 Analysis
Management Objects. I restarted the install and it still says it's not installed. I also tried installing the 2012 version of the objects and still no luck.
I also tried installing both the x86 and x64 versions of these tools.
I have also tried the same install on a Windows 2008 R2 server and had the same error. I'm convinced this is a bug in the setup.
Has anyone else seen this? Is it a known issue?

Try to check the log file SCSMSetupWizardxy.log under C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp
perhaps it could not load Microsoft.AnalysisServices.dll assembly.

can you confirm if that assembly exists in the Assembly folder.
on a side note: SCSM 2012 SP1 supports 2008 R2 SP1 or above, and double check that the account you are using to install the SM is a local admin.

Regarding Crystal Reports 2013 SP1/SP3 runtime distribution clafrifications

We are in process of migrating exsisting Crystal Reports from CR 2008 SP4 to CR 2013 SP1/SP3.
Iam unable to find the corresponding msms for the same for runtime distribution (to install on end user Boxs).
Can see latest as v.13.0.13.1597 (_http://scn.sap.com/docs/DOC-7824)
Please help out link where I can download msi (or msms) for Crystal Reports 2013 SP1/SP3 runtimes that need to be deployed on user PCs.
Also need advise
( i ) Can we install both runtimes (CR 2008 SP4 and CR 2013 SP1) on user PC at same time?
( ii ) We have already deployed CR 2008 SP4 runtimes on user PCs, is that sufficient? or do we need to install any other runtime?
( iii ) Will CR 2013 SP1 support old CR 2008 SP4 ?

Crystal 2013 does not come with the SDK, instead you have to download Crystal for Visual Studio AND update your code to use it. You can't just install one of the .msi files or the .msm file (which are all available at the link you show above) and expect it to work with existing code.

Installing FIM Reporting in FIM 2010 R2 with SP1

I tried to install the Reporting component. I have FIM 2010 R2 with SP1 and SCSM 2012. I get a error saying I have to install the KB2561430. This is apparently a hotfix for SCSM 2010 SP1. I thought that FIM R2 with SP1 supports SCSM 2012 as written:

Does FIM 2010 R2 SP1 support OID version 10.1.4.2.0 ? If there is no support for OID then what is the alternative for making its connectivity?

The error indicates that the password (or wallet) files oidpwdldap1 and oidpwdr<ORACLE_SID> do NOT exist under $ORACLE_HOME/ldap/admin or your $ORACLE_HOME and $PATH are set incorrectly (a bit unlikely).
Assuming that the $ORACLE_HOME and $PATH are indeed set to correct values, if the 2 files mentioned above do not exist under $ORACLE_HOME/ldap/admin, then perform the below action plan:
1. Set the ORACLE_HOME to INFRASTRUCTURE ORACLE_HOME
2. set the PATH to $ORACLE_HOME/bin:$ORACLE_HOME/ldap/bin:$ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin:$PATH
3. Ensure that you are able to login to sqlplus as "ods" user.
4. If you do NOT know the password of ods user, then reset the password.
5. Run the below command and enter the ods password when prompted for it.
oidpasswd create_wallet=true
6. Voila! The Wallet files are created under $ORACLE_HOME/ldap/admin.

External HDD - 4096 bytes sector size support / change

We have a number of Toshiba external hard drives which are pretty much redundant.
The sector size, 4096 bytes, is not supported by Windows 2008 Server R2, Windows 7 or lower.
Only in Server 2012 and Windows 8.
When I say not supported, i mean not supported for backup.
The 'system state' element of the backup will not work with this type of drive connected to the system.
My question is this:
Is there a way to workaround this?
Western Digital provide a tool to format the drives with a different sector size which Windows 7 / 2008 R2 recognises and allows for a successful system state backup. The tool is WD Quick Format Tool. Is there a Toshiba equivalent?

Well, since Vista (SP2) the 4k sector size is supported but early OS, Windows XP as well as Vista (SP1) supported only 512 byte sector size.
It seems that in the past Toshiba provided an tool called Toshiba Alignment Tool for Advanced Format Hard Disk Drives (HDD) but this isnt available anymore as mentioned on this page

Support ends 24 months after the next service pack releases or at the end of the product's support lifecycle, whichever comes first.
Accordig to the message above, mainstream support of Window 2008 R2 product family will be ended on 13/1/2015, and there is no new service pack released, then 2008 R2 SP1 support will also end on 13/1/2015 since when support for a product ends, support of
all the service packs for that product will also end.
