Is Xperia Z1 root legit?

I want to to root my Xperia Z1 because I want to get the new camera features (timeshift video and 4k), but i'm afraid that my camera would get harmed and it might get bricked.

  • [Q] Xperia ray rooting, installing custom ROM procedure

    Hey! Guys,
I wanted to know what are the steps to follow in-order to install a custom ROM on my xperia ray. I've read few tutorial but still I've got some questions to clarify. Just tell me whether below steps are correct.
    First root the device
    Unlock the boot loader
    Flash a custom ROM
And if I'm installing a custom ROM on to my device I want to achieve below point too.
Want a complete back up with SMS/MMS, Apps ..etc (can be acheived via some back-up apps)
Want to take a complete copy of my current stock firmware (as a ftf file), may move back to stock
Any else, that I should follow which I missed here ...
I'm still curious about this.. Please advise me if I missed anything here since I'm a newbie when it comes to android rooting, flashing stuffs..

quite simple, run SUS or PCC and try to update your phone if it say modified software then you know its unlocked

  • Xperia U ROOTING

    Hi guys
I'm new here. just got my first Sony/Android mobile yesterday. I have read many threads about rooting android phone and stuff, but still have got questions. I hope someone here can help me out.
    1. i have removed all apps like mcafee, office, etc. without rooting my phone. it works smoothily enough for me now. therefore I don't know if rooting it  would make it run even faster. although knowing that there are still loads of crap apps out there is really annoying. so is it really beneficial rooting the phone?
    2. if I did root my phone, would i still be able to update it to ICS in september? or would it ever be updated officially?
    3. the buid number is 6.0.b.1.564. I couldn't find means of rooting it anywhere in the forum or on youtube. Could anyone please help me?
I really don't know much about android.
    thank you in advance!

yes, but your DRM keys will be gone forever and in some countries Sony won't repair your phone anymore as  your warranty will be voided (UK)
    http://www.xperiablog.net/2012/08/03/sony-clarifies-warranty-guidance-if-you-unlock-your-bootloader/
For most issues/problems, unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty. Sony Mobile only honours the warranty if it is a known issue in that model/batch of phones or if it is an issue that clearly could not have been caused by flashing a different ROM. Because a new ROM can have a wide range of consequences (e.g., it can overheat the battery or change the voltage, which can damage other components), that basically means that only a small subset of issues are still covered by the warranty. Therefore, even when the phone is in warranty, the service centre usually has to do a very costly board swap in order to get the phone back to its original state before it can perform any repair. The end-user has to pay for that part of the repair.
We are proud of providing the unlock feature to the developer community. Previously, there was a large risk of bricking the phone when unlocking with third party software. Sony Mobile’s solution remove’s that risk. When we initially provided the unlock feature, it was presumed that only highly skilled developers and super-users would take advantage of it. From blogs and discussion boards, it was clear that the community understood the risks and that unlocking largely voided the warranty. It appears that less sophisticated users (despite all our warnings) might be using the feature, and are now surprised by the consequences.

    How to root 4.0.4 (4.1.B.0.587 & 4.1.B.0.431)
We cannot root 4.1.B.0.587 directly, so to root it we first flash 4.1.A.0.562 kernel, run the rooting toolkit and in the end flash 4.1.B.0.587 kernel.
Few devices don't have their own 4.1.A.0.562 kernel, so we need to flash the 4.1.A.0.562 kernel of other devices just to root. However all devices have 4.1.B.0.587 kernel.
    Follow all the steps.
Go to settings > Security > Mark  "Unknown sources"
Settings > Developer options > Mark USB debugging
Settings > Xperia > connectivity > USB connection mode > select MSC mode
    Download Flashtool
    Windows Users > Flashtool
Linux Users > Flashtool ( From previous release tab, download 0.9.0.0 version)
After installing flashtool, reboot your PC.
1 ) Download the respective 4.1.A.0.562 kernel to flash
Arc and Arc S  - Kernel
         Ray                -  Kernel
         Neo/Neo V      -  Kernel
         LwW, Mini       - Kernel
         Active             -  Kernel
         Neo L             -  Kernel
All other users -  Kernel or even try the kernels for Arc S and Ray
    2) Go to C:/ Drive > flashtool > firmwares > delete everything present and put the downloaded kernel
    3)  Run Flashtool > click on the flashing icon ( left side below "file" option)
    Select flashmode > ok
Setup should be like this > select OK
    Flashtool Setup Screenshot
Follow the steps, connect your mobile and flash. Note: on devices with touch navigation keys, hold volume down key instead of back button while connecting your device.
Flashtool may show error after flashing kernel, no worries. Even your build number and android version won't change. Everything would remain same so please don't visit phone's settings to check anything
    4) After flashing restart your device, It may not start completely, may remain at Sony logo or with blank/black screen.
Whatever the status is, just restart your device and proceed with the rooting >
    Download Rooitng toolkit > 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 and extract it.
( Make sure you close flashtool before running the rooting toolkit )
Now  connect your mobile to PC ( Mobile should be ON)  and wait for 2 minutes. Then run the rooting toolkit. When it says all done, close it. disconnect your phone and switch it off ( By pressing power button/ or by taking out the battery and reinserting it).
    5) Download Kerenls, If you are on 4.1.b.0.431 rom then download the respective kernel, same goes for 4.1.B.0.587
For Neo L > Download the kernel version on which your phone is running 4.1.B.0.626 or  4.1.B.0.631
    Xperia
    4.1.B.0.431
    4.1.B.0.587

    Arc

    Kernel

    Live with walkman
    Kernel
    Kernel
    Active
    Kernel
    Kernel
    Mini Pro
    Kernel
    Kernel
Now flash the kernel ( same procedure as step 2 and 3 above )
Your mobile should now b rooted (See if any Superuser app has been installed on your phone ) and working fine again.

You unlocked the bootloader of your phone and your accepted the update over the air ? ( Means you updated through the mobile center app ? )
Probably you saved yourself from bricking the device
Do not accept any update once bootloader is unlocked.
In order to get ICS from PC Companion or SUS you need to relock your bootloader
If you don't want to relock it then simply flash using flashtool

To have LP rooted you 1st need to have KK installed and rooted which can be done with a locked bootloader then install a custom recovery like Teamwin then from within that you can flash a pre-rooted LP Rom - Tried and tested by me personally but my opinion is KK is better and smoother but this is my opinion - other members may and will say differently

  • Root Xperia U?

Hi all, Im kind of a newbie with Xperia phones. I've had Huawei before and I rooted the phone so I could easily overclock processor or use free avast antitheft on it. Snice I've just got my Xperia U now, I wonder how to root this phone? And should i wait for ICS update before rooting it?

Only root your phone after the warranty expires. Rooting your can create a lot of errors that could effect the smooth run of your phone if not done properly. It could entirely destroy the OS and as the warranty is not valid you wouldnt be able to do anything about that. There are a lot of root options available for xperia u . Which ever application u use to root your phone jus check its compatibility list before u use it also read the reviews abt it.
