Isdn layer 1 deactivated

i have a isdn line. it works well with other vendor isdn modem but when i connect a cisco router it's layer 1 state is deactivated.
when i type the command
sh isdn status
The current ISDN Switchtype = basic-net3
ISDN BRI1/5 interface

ACTIVE_ErrorInd

Hi ,
I also faced the same kind of problem and resolved by reloading the router.
Most of the L1 states are temporary, and you can clear them with the ""clear interface bri number command"" or with a router reload.
Once you reload the router , check the voltage on NT1(Rj-45 jack pin 3 and 4) and it should be with in 92 to 104 volts.If you are not getting the voltage follow-up with telco.

    I am in Nairobi Kenya. Here we use ISDN Basic-net3 and my problem is that most of the telco switches here deactivate Layer 1 when there is no active call.
    When I try to initiate a call by using the ISDN test call command I get an error to the effect that B channel is not available.
    The only way I can initiate a call is I first call the line then and then disconnect. Then I have about 5 seconds to make a test call and pings are successful. How do I make the router initiate a call when layer 1 is deactivated.
    the debug isdn q921 out has nothing till a call comes in.
    I also understatnd that European ISDN switches deactivate Layer 1 when there no active call. I dont have a problem with one of the switches, coz it does not bring down the line when there is no active call.

    When I try to make a test call the show isdn status initially indicates that the router is trying to activate layer 1 then after 5 seconds it indicates that it is deactivated.
    I have not yet configured DDR as indicated in the config file

  • Cant get ISDN Layer 1 active even getting a tone on ISDN

    HI i am configuring ISDN line on cisco 2821....The problem is that even though i get a tone but when i put the line in my router i am seeing my Layer 1 as Deactivited
    Kindl see the attached Logs and see if i am doing anything wrong .Moreover the config for the BRi interface are below

    Anywhere except North America, it is normal to have L1 de-activated all the time except when a call is in progress, and a sh0ort time thereafter.
    Also, having a BRI doesn't necessarily involve having a TA (Terminal Adapter), although likely you will have an NT (Network Terminator).
    Sometime IOS is plain buggy and you need to replace image to have it working.

  • ISDN BRI layer 1 & layer 2 do not sustain "active" statuses

    Hi Expert,
    I have some routers which can not sustain the ISDN layer 1 & layer 2 statuses correctly. Whenever, the ISDN line is manually activated or the ISDN BRI ports are manually reset, the layer 1 & layer 2 statuses become active but they become deactivated after a while. I have changed the ISDN module and the same symptom is observed. Would you advise what is the cause and resolution. Your advice in this matter is greatly appreciated.

    I have another router with the same configuration and the statuses are able to sustain correctly. Thus, I doubt that the backup interface command has any effect on the layer 1 & layer 2 statuses.

  • Cisco 876 ADSL over ISDN Router

    I am facing some problem in using ISDN bri S/T interface for connectivity to HO PRI router.I am not using the ATM interface of this router.The isdn status always shows that the isdn layer 1 and 2 is deactivated. IF i connect the same bri cable to other isdn router it works fine.
    Is their any special configuration or command required in 876 router for the isdn dialing?
    I found on cisco that the 876 router ISDN bri S/T interface is for the out-of-band mangement and dial backup.
    Can i use this interface for the normal isdn dialing?
    need some clarification.

  • Problem connecting isdn bri voice interface to pstn

    i'm trying to configure my ISDN BRI NT/TE voice interface card (VIC-2BRI-NT/TE) on router 3825 to link to my PSTN provider. This must allow my Cisco IP phones to pass call to the PSTN through my call manager 4.1.
    I suscribe to two isdn line. The provider told me that the SWITCH TYPE is VN6 (COTE d'IVOIRE or Ivory Coast).
    For my bri configuration, see file "interfaces configuration..."
    My problem is that when i pass call from my Ip telephony network, the first call goes well. But after this first call, when i type the command isdn status, i can see that the layer 1 of my isdn interfaces are DEACTIVATED, and after a few minutes, it turn back to ACTIVE. During these minuite, i can't pass any call through my isdn interface.
    for outputs of show isdn status command, and isdn debug q931 commands
    see file "show isdn status and debug..."
    Notice: when the status of the isdn layer is in the deactvated status, i can receive call from the pstn, but i can't passe call to pstn (the state changes to ACTIVE when incomming call from pstn arrive, but still stay DEACTIVATED when outgoing call is initiated)
    Please help me

    Besides the obvious email addresses and SMTP server, the value of X here is the ifIndex of the ISDN interface (as seen in the output of "show snmp mib ifmib ifindex").  SNMP will be the easier course of action here as it will work on more versions of IOS in applet form.

    The command "isdn transition-delay " is a hidden command and it is used to give delay before bringing the D channel up.

    I do not believe that the original poster intended to use backup interface, and I do not believe that backup interface is necessarily needed here. The floating static default route points to the dialer interface:
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.100.1.1
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.99.13 20
    and if the primary static default route is withdrawn the router will begin sending traffic to the dialer.
    I do note that in the amount of configuration shown I do not see a way to get to 10.100.1.1 and so there may be a problem with the primary static default route. Or it may be that the address is reachable through some interface not shown in the posted config.
    I believe that there is a more fundamental problem shown in the original post. One of the lines indicates that layer 1 is not active. If layer 1 is not active then nothing can be sent over this interface. Perhaps we could have posted the output of show isdn status. This would clarify the status of layer 1 and layer 2 for the ISDN.

  • CCM 6 MGCP ISDN Backhaul

    I have a 2801 that has a 12 channel frac ISDN PRI on it programmed for channels 12-24. When i don't bind it to MGCP it comes up fine and the ISDN layer 2 status shows established. Whenever I have CCM takeover it switches between TEI_Assigned and Awaiting Establishment. The settings on the T1 controller on the router are

    linecode: b8zs
    framing: esf
    CCM underneath the T1 controller VWIC-1MFT-T1 is configured with the same 0 in the input and output gain. Clock: External framing and linecode the same and disabled echo cancellation. I have attached a picture of the other settings.

    Due to the ISDN PRI being fractional I would recommend that you configure the CallManager services parameters to busy out the respective channels and enable status poll under the MGCP configuration in CallManager.
    This enables the Cisco Unified CallManager advanced service parameter to Change B-Channel Maintenance Status. This service parameter allows you to take individual B-channels out of service for an MGCP T1/E1 PRI gateway in real time.
    I have also noticed that the channel selection has changed to TopDown, this is generally first to last, and BottomUp is last to first and is the default.

    I've entered the "isdn transition-delay 1" interface command and things seem to work well.According to the IOS help on my router,this command clears the ISDN D-CHANNEL after a delay of 1 second.
    But i would like to get more information on this command, and also on the isdn layer 2 and 3 timers, and even possible on all the "isdn" interface command option.

  • TeleS ISDN Problem

    I can't get my TeleS ISDN card up running. I get this erroe:
    Vcapi driver....
    Then bluescreen, mem dump and reboot. When i rem the cart all is ok.
    Anyone have a solution for this?

    In Europe the switch will bring the line down when the call is over and
    no activity for a period of time to save power. Both the router and the
    switch can bring the line up whenever there is an outgoing call.
    Indeed the router didn't acknowledge the PROGRESS message. There are
    quite a few changes in ISDN layer 2 code between 12.3 and 12.4. I
    believe this problem is fixed in latest 12.4 image.
    when the interface is down, you can check the status of layer 2 by issuing "show isdn status" can
    you enable the debuging of the following
    show isdn status
    debug isdn q921
    debug isdn q931
    debug dialer
    debug bri
    then issue the follwoing command"
    isdn call interface bri 0019003507243652803
    what we should see is the router try to bring up the d channel to activate the call. ie we should
    send out an "TEI REQUEST" followed by a "TEI allocate". then q931 should come up.

  • Issue using Z fields from 5.0 upgrade to 7.0 UI

    In structure CI_EEW_CUSTOMER_I we have 2 custom fields we want to re-incorporate into the UI.
    When I choose the create new field in the UI tool, these 2 fields show as fields under the "Custom Fields" but the enhancement ID is "manual field" and the status is green.  But if select one of these manual fields I get a pop up window with message "You Cannot edit this Field".
    The field id matches what is in structure CI_EEW_CUSTOMER_I but I do not seem to be able to add them as a field to the UI.

    We had the same issue when we upgraded from 5.0 to 7.0.  I resolved this by making a small config change in SPRO.  Please do the following:
    SPRO / Customer Relationship Management / UI Framework / Design Layer / Deactive Hiding of Fields
    Check "No hiding of fields by design layer."
    Once this is checked, you'll now be able to add your custom fields to the Web UI via configuration of the UI.

  • IP telephony problem in a big shop | Need your help

    Hello everybody,
    I have an issue to solve regarding an IP telephony problem. My company will send me to France to fix this problem. But most of my knowledge are in routing and switching, I have almost no knowledge in IP telephony ( Theory only). I think the problem is not really difficult but I still need your advices to know where to start and what to do.
    Futher down is a summary of the e-mails I received from the shop in France from the employees who are working there. France Telecom is the ISP.
    1 e-mail:The problem is the connection between the ISDN lines provided by France Telecom and the IPBX installed by our shop.
    2 e-mail:The problem isn't the physical line itself. The problem is that they ( France telecom) do not route all the numbers out to the ISDN line they installed. The number ending with 1212 get routed to the ISDN NT and that number actually works. But the rest of the number series does not get terminated in that ISDN NT. Calling those other number result in an error message being read in French. That can only come from France Telecom.
    3 e-mail:We cannot solve this problem because it is not the system which has an error. Carl has been in Bordeaux and has checked the ISND line at that is working, but the number series for Bordeaux is missing in the system from France Telecom, the only existing number is 1212. The rest of the numbers are missing for French Telecom and is therefore not working. Either we have been informed of a wrong number series +33 5 34 32 12 04 to 13 or France Telecom has not delivered what they should.
    4 e-mail:I checked again with France Telecom and they confirmed that everything is delivered and ok from their side.
    They gave us the number series +33 5 34 32 12 04 to 13 with main number (headnumber) is +33 5 34 32 12 12 (exactly as in Paris where we are n° series from +33 1 53 25 13 70 to +33 1 53 25 13 89 with the headnumber is +33 1 53 25 13 70).
    That's the reason why you find only the +33 5 34 32 12 12 arriving into the IPBX, it's because you then have to program in our IPBX the other n° we want to use (+33 5 34 32 12 04/ 05/ 06/ 07/ …10/ 13/…) within the number series granted by France Telecom.
    But this can be done only by us because we installed our own IPBX.
    5 e-mail:Even though the other numbers aren't programmed into the IPBX, we should still get some sort of ISDN Layer 1 activity when calling one of the other numbers (fx. the 07number). That never happens, which means the numbers are somehow impeded from France Telecom.
    When we call one of the number, we get an error message in French. If the traffic was hitting the IPBX, then that couldn't happen. That speak originates from France Telecom and we have never gotten any explanation as to why it's even there.
    I will really apreciate your help. Where do you think the problem comes from? Is that really France Telecom whose empeded the series number(do not route the numbers)? What should I check/do, configure?

  • Help! Calls dropping on PRI

    I am intermittently dropping inbound calls on our PRI. The error messages I am receiving in the isdn debug are 0x8092 - no user responding, and 0x80a9 - temporary failure. If the caller tries to call back a second time it usually goes through fine. The gateway is a 2651XM with a 1MFT card. Any help on determining if it is my problem or the telco would be greatly appreciated.

    Well, I am 90% sure where your problem comes from.
    Your Telco is configured their switch for the so called "ISDN layer 2 on demand". After being idle for particular period (idle = no call attempts in any side), the PSTN switch will drop the connection at layer 2. Then, if you make a call attempt it will fail, because the ISDN link (L2) is not up. The second call will pass through, because the ISDN layer 2 negotiation will complete.
    Try the "isdn bcac" command or talk to your Telco.
