  • Oracle 9i installation issues

    Hi ,
I have installed Oracle9i and setup a database and everything is working fine in the English version, but when I install the same French version (oracle 9.0.1) alot of the features are in English. For those of you familiar with the help section of the http://localhost/isqlplus help on the top right hand side the help comes up in Enclish as oppose to English and when you go to change your password it go into that fine and every thing else is in French except the words "CHANGE PASSWORD" Under that it says everything else in French. Does anyone have any idea how to change this so that every thing even the help files come up in French or how/where to edit the code to change the thing manually to Change le mot de passe ???
Thanks very much for your help in advance

    some more information
I’ve just restarted the server with its full quota of 16GB of RAM and selected both boot.ini switches (/PAE and /3GB) at server startup. I then amended the dbblock_lru_latches parameter from 128 to 64. Before I even started the database I tried running ‘ipconfig /all’ at the command prompt with the following result:
    D:\Oracle>ipconfig /all
    Windows IP Configuration
An internal error occurred: Insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service.
Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services for further help.
is it windows causing these issues?

  • Reinstall Oracle 10g R2

A co-worker deleted my OC4J directory under oracle and I wondered if I could replace it somehow? I noticed at this point that the installer doesn't seem to know what I have already installed and freezes when I attempt to view. Someone indicated that renaming the 'install' directory might accomplish this and get the installer to run anew.
Any ideas if this is a valid method or do others exist.
I appreciate anyone's help and assistance.
    Thanks in advance,
    Brian

The applications configured by this container are:
    - Enterprise Manager
    - Isqlplus
    - isqlplus help
    - Ultrasearch admin
    - ultrasearch query
Most of the files this container has are jar library files and configuration files (produced at deployment time during installation of the application against the oc4j) these paths are relative and based on environmental variables, so there is not much problem in applying the above procedure, however you should consider if you had ever configured the isqlplusDBA password, you'll have to repeat the procedure, if you had ever configured enterprise manager to work in SSL mode, this is also affected by this.
Next time, I suggest you to include in your backup strategy a periodic ORACLE_HOME backup, not as frequent as data, so you can have a backup of your installation.

  • Cannot use isqlplus! help!!

Hello! I just installed the downloaded version of Oracle9i (version 2) onto an XP Home partition, and although everything else seems to be working so far, I cannot get on to use isqlplus, and I cannot figure out why! The infamous "this page cannot be displayed" comes up. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!
PS) I'm new to Oracle, in fact, I'm studying now to take the first exam, so please excuse my ignorance!!

I didn't actually select any options during install... I wasn't given any choices other than which Oracle edition to install, and I chose Enterprise. The HTTP server is set to automatic start in the services panel. No matter what I change that to (manual, automatic), whenever I click start, a popup comes upsaying that the process has started and stopped because it is not being used now and is automatically started when needed.
I also tried to connect as http://localhost/isqlplus and I still get the same page error.
Should I uninstall and re-install the entire thing?

  • PIVOT Function in isqlPlus ???  HELP please!

I need to Pivot a column of Numeric data in a table.
The data is as follows: (I generate this table in a VIEW):
    COL1 COL2 COL3
    jdoe green -1
    jdoe blue -1
    jdoe yellow 0
    jdoe red 0
    jdoe orange -1
    asmith blue 0
    asmith green -1
    asmith gold 0
    asmith yellow -1
    asmith red -1
    asmith orange 0
I produce this table of data from a VIEW select statement.
I am writing a second VIEW select as a subquery to this top query. I want the second or subquery VIEW select to produce a PIVOT of the third column that will produce the following for me:
    COL1 COL2 COL3 COL4
    jdoe 5 3 2
    asmith 6 3 3
...the end result being one row for each username with a breakout of total count of -1's and total count of 0's, and of course a grand total in Col2.
I cannot find any sensible documentation in the miles and miles of documentation within Oracle's library. Can anyone help me please?

    select col1
    , count(*) col2
    , sum(decode(col3,-1,1,0)) col3
    , sum(decode(col3,0,1,0)) col4
    from your_table
    group by col1

  • Help with isqlplus

I'm trying to learn by myself a little about isqlplus.
I have a 9.2 server on linux and the http server is running ok there.
On a W2000 client machine I've tried in two different browsers to connect to the URL http://toshiba:7777/isqlplus but when I enter the connect string I get
    ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:no se ha podido resolver el nombre de servicio (could not resove service name in Spanish)
On this machine I can connect through sqlplus with the same connect string: sopra/sopra@sopra_toshiba
This is my entry in my tnsnames:
    SOPRA_TOSHIBA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = toshiba)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = sopra)
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
Do I need a new entry in the tnsnames?

I think I only need it for my W2000 clientNo.
When you use iSQL*Plus you are using the linux server tnsnames.ora file to connect to the database. When you use the SQL*Plus at the local client, the tnsnames.ora of that local client is used. That is the difference.
You must setup your tnsnames entry in your tnsnames.ora file on linux server. Alternatively, do not specify the connect string when trying to connect using iSQL*Plus. If you do, then it must be specified in your linux server tnsnames.ora file.

after that and after all necessary security mesures are taken, they should be able to connect to your database using isqlplus from their browser.

  • Isqlplus with  oracle 8.1.7 on Solaris 9x86

I installed oracle 8.1.7 on Solaris 9x86, all is fine.
But I dont see any where that I could use isqlplus through nestcape.
Is there any way that I could start isqlplus through my browser.
    Please help!!!

You mean that I can install isqlplus from oracle9i into my oracle8.1.7.You would need to install into a new Oracle9i-only directory (i.e. a
new ORACLE_HOME). The iSQL*Plus in it would be able to connect to
your existing 8.1.7 database using Oracle Net.
Unfortunately I see 9i is not supported on Solaris x86 (though 10g is
    "projected".)
The French iSQL*Plus 8.1.7 document you refer to talks about the first
pre-production version of iSQL*Plus released. It cannot be
recommended for use, and is no longer available.

  • How to run a script on Oracle server from isqlplus

Hi I am trying to run a script on my workstation from Oracle server through isqlplus workarea. I entered following command and get the following error. i have enabled isqlplus URL by editing web.xml file already. Can please someone help how to run the script?
    @http://myaixserver.com:5560/scripts/Databasestartupstages.sql;
SP2-0920: HTTP error 'page not found (505)' on attempt to open URL

So far, you haven't specified your rdbms version and isqlplus behaved differently on a 9iR1, 9iR2 from the one release on 10gR1/R2. on 9i it was a servlet based on a JServ servlet executor machine, meanwhile on 10g it is a J2EE compliant application deployed on an OC4J container, so configuration is different.

  • Why same query runs on isqlplus but not in Forms/Reports trigger

    Hi,
I have one query in which I extract one column with parent table join if I run same query on isqlplus prompt it works but if I run same on Forms/Reports trigger it says found "select" where something else expected.
    below is an example .
    select em1.mreading, em1.grid_code,
    (select em.mreading from energy_mreading em where em.grid_code=em1.grid_code and em.transformer_code=em1.transformer_code
    and em.bus_bar=em1.bus_bar and to_date(to_char(em.r_date,'dd/mm/yyyy'),'dd/mm/yy') = to_date('02/01/07' ,'dd/mm/yy') - 1)
    as Yreading
    from energy_mreading em1
    where to_date(to_char(em1.r_date,'dd/mm/yyyy'),'dd/mm/yy')= to_date('02/01/07' ,'dd/mm/yy')
Any one can help me, is there any restriction/limitations in Forms/Reports triggers.
    Thanks, Khawar.

In forms and cursors you can not use scalar subqueries as you do. You have to use joins!
    select
         em1.mreading
        ,em1.grid_code
        ,em.mreading as Yreading
    from
        energy_mreading em1
       ,energy_mreading em
    where 1=1
        and trunc(em1.r_date) = to_date('02/01/2007','dd/mm/rrrr')
        and em.grid_code = em1.grid_code
        and em.transformer_code = em1.transformer_code
        and em.bus_bar = em1.bus_bar
        and trunc(em.r_date) = trunc(em1.r_date) - 1
    Try this, hope it works.

Help yourself and God will help you !
The URL provided for database control is now working.
I had to clear all check boxes on dialog reached throughout IE/Tools/Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings.
The two other URLs - those provided at the end of Oracle Server installation for isqlplus and dba - are still not working.
The error is now "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".
So I still need some help...

In order to connect as SYSDBA, you need to create the DBA username and password. Open a DOS prompt window, and execute the following command:
    cd d:\oracle\ora92\Apache\Apache\bin
    htpasswd -b d:\oracle\ora92\sqlplus\admin\iplusdba.pw plusdba oracle
You need to stop and start your Oracle HTTP Server for this new alias to take effect.
    Check this link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe9ir2/obe-mng/isqlplus/isqlplus.htm
To stop and start the Oracle HTTP Server. On Windows do the following steps:
    Open a Windows Command Prompt.
Change directory to the Oracle HTTP Server home directory by entering:
    cd %ORACLE_HOME%\Apache\Apache
Stop the running Oracle HTTP Server by entering:
    apache -k shutdown
Start the Oracle HTTP Server by entering
    apache -k start
