Issue getting template areas to align correctly

Hello. This is my first post on the Adobe Support Forums and
also my first time using Dreamweaver. I am only marginally
proficient with basic HTML and have a limited understanding of CSS
and Dreamweaver, so please forgive me for posting stupid questions
and also perhaps not being able to fully describe the problem I am
having.
I have attempted searching however was not very successful,
mainly due to my inability to really identify keywords that
describe the issue.
Anyway the issue:
I am building a main site using Templates. When I started
building the template, I chose to work with one of the layout
template options, specifically "2 column elastic, left sidebar,
header and footer" and created a new external CSS style sheet which
is named "twoColElsLtHdr.css"
Anyway I have my main layout nice and done on the template,
but when I create new pages and put any large amount of text into
the editable region I defined as the right pane in the middle of
the page, "Body", the left sidebar does not extend downward to meet
the footer. I have this colored, so it is very obvious. I tried
editting CSS options to make it match, but the best I could do so
far was to define the height as some arbitrary size and try to keep
the Body text from overrunning it. For example, right now I have
it's height defined to 30em. I tried setting it to something like
100% but that didn't do what I wanted. I'd rather not leave it hard
defined as some pages may need to be longer than others.
How do I go about getting this to fill out correctly?

Master Slide templates are not showing correctly once out of film view

I am having problems with the master view edit within captivate. I have correctly adjusted the slides to fit the design I want, however when I add a new slide with that layout the buttons and boxes are throw all over the place. As well, a lot of the objects I would like to delete in the quiz pages can not be deleted and when trying to change the text for the default correct, must answer questions box..etc I am not able to change this text.

Hmmm, sorry about your frustration but as a daily user of Lynda.com for all kind of applications I find the Captivate courses much below their usual level. And I have commented that way on their site multiple times. There is no good practice, no explanation of proper workflows now about the logic of Captivate. You are not the first user that I helped out after such a 'bad' introduction. If you look at my answers, you'll see that I'm not that harsh usually. Having taught all kind of software applications since over 20 years, it is to me also very frustrating when I see this happening. And sorry, cannot help you with pointing to other tutorials, I never bought any book (had the same reflections when looking at books), nor trainings. I just learned by exploring and helping other users out.
Captivate is a very versatile tool, but learning curve is made unnecessary steep by bad approach in many tutorials. You'll learn recipes in them, nothing about the concept nor the logic. And once you want to change the recipe, you are stuck.
Do you know that in a theme you have theme color palette, object styles (did you ever use the Object Style Manager), master slides and a skin. The playbar is part of the skin. When you go to the skin editor, first tab allowed you to uncheck the playbar, go to the second tab 'Borders', and uncheck also the Borders.
Even terminology is a problem: what do you mean by a toolbar? There is for the moment in Captivate only a Big Button Bar in editing mode (Slides, Themes, Text, Shapes....). The real toolbar disappeared in CP8, was there in previous versions. There is an Align bar remaining, but it is not visible until you show it with the Window menu.

Paper format parameters for templates are not stored correctly

Hello,
does anyone have the same problem ?
I stored a template for an envelope with a papersize of 114x162 mm and with a paper direction sideways.(Envelope is inserted in the long form).
When using the template, the direction is in the wide-form.
Any suggestions ? Thank you for your help.

Vietnamese fonts are not displayed correctly.

The character set used is Composite Unicode and input method is VNI. I tried VN forum but no one care about it =.= Also this is the FF problem those texts displayed correctly in Chrome. Page not aligning correctly

Could someone take a look at my page at http://www.meadowlarkco.com/services2.php The image of the two guys and the section to the right are not aligning correctly. Im not sure if I accidentally removed a margin setting or not? But something is off which is making the two sections not aligned horizontally correct.

Try changing this:

Incidentally, borders don't work unless you apply all 3 attributes: width | style | color
Example: border: 3px solid #000;
Explicit height values on containers should be avoided. It limits how much content your divisions can hold. The default height value of any container is auto (determined by content). If required to reveal a background-image, use min-height instead of height.

My pages are not loading correctly---get index-like pages.

For nascar.com if I turn off page styling it kind of looks like indexes.
From the View menu (Alt+V) see if what you have for Page Style -- if you have a theme try Basic Style to see if it fixes, and try "No style" to see if it looks the same as you currently see.
Besides themes, styles, and GreaseMonkey scripts you might have an extension such as Adblock Plus blocking some styles.

What I ended up having to do was open up the Font book & remove duplicates. I knew it was Arial that was causing the problem, so I deleted the duplicate of that font. Inadvertantly I deleted all the Arial regular font, so I had to reinstall one copy. That was the solution. Thanks!

Items in template contain errors, only correct items are transferred

When we create SC with items from the old SC the message appears: "Items in template contain errors, only correct items are transferred". I checked SC, there are no error messages. I found that field SOURCE_REL_IND in the table BBP_PDIGP is initial. Can it be the reason of this error message?

I think the old items from the old SC will be validated, and therefore you got this error message.
I would suggest to uncheck the 'Validate Product Data' (In Additional
Functions in product catalog tab) for the external catalog in the
following path:
spro -> SAP IMG -> Enterprise Buyer -> Master Data ->
Define Catalogs. Select the catalog, and then 'Goto -> Details'

Why does test movie open a new window in the IDE instead of compiling?

It sounds like the user configuration is bad. Please try removing the user configuration folder. Please note that after deleting the user configuration, there are user settings, such as panel position and saved jsapi commands, will be removed or reset so you might want to save the important files you want to reserve in user configuration before removing the user configuration folder.
1. Quit Flash.
2. Delete the following folder:
Win 7 and Vista: HD:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe\Flash CS5
Win XP: HD:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Flash CS5
Mac: HD:/Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/\Adobe\Flash CS5
3. Relaunch Flash and see if it fixes the problem.

Google maps are not rendering correctly. A work related site also gets messed up. I am forced to use IE.

Flex SDK 3.2 : Unmarshalling issue : SOAP objects are not deserialized completely

I have a strange problem with SOAP deserialization in flex 3.2, and I thought this forum will be the best place to get answers ...
When I try to fetch some objects (like the ones shown below), the XMLDecoder does not deserialize all the properties.
In this case, it stops at the property named "rating". After it, all other data are lost.
I've used the flex builder debugger to locate the problem, and this lead me to the following method in the XMLDecoder class :
getApplicableValues(parent:*, valueElements:XMLList, name:QName,context:DecodingContext, maxOccurs:uint):XMLList:
State of the variables, before the "bug" :
The strange behavior appears after the five first properties had been deserialized correctly.
At this step : startIndex = 5, and the next property to unmarshall is "user" (according to the MExpertNotes object mapping)
the valueElement's list contains the following elements :
to simplify the notation, I will write only the position in the list and the xml tag name (see the complete soap response for more details at the end of this post)

(0, ID) -> inherited from MotocycletteObjectImpl
(1,comment)

when it enters the for loop, at the first iteration the valueElements[i].name is equals to "timeOfCreation" and the name parameter is equal to "user".
so this test : if (name == null || valueElements[i].name() == name
|| ((name.uri == "" || name.uri == null)
&& name.localName == valueElements[i].name().localName))
returns false. The skipAhead variable is set to false (and i don't understand why). It stops iterating over the valueElementList, and so, skips all other properties.
Is this a bug ? Does a workaround exists ?
This affects many of our objects.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unpublished BUG 5011628 matches the client issue as it is a call to split-by-page-break inside a loop.
Fix is in ScalableStringList.java version 115.4.
This is delivered in <Bug 6165466> XDOFX:CHR(N) FUNCTION FAILING.
Solution
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
1. Apply Patch 6165466 when it is released.
2. Test your report.

Bursting a PDF Template is not working correctly

We are using a PDF template for an export document and we are bursting the request so that we can send the output to multiple destinations.
This all works correctly until we hit a document that results in multiple pages. This results in the generated output to be a complete mess. Text appearing all over the page.
If I take the same XML and run it through the template in Template viewer, everything works as expected. The text is all where it is supposed to be. So this appears to be an issue with how the XML and template are bursted.
Anyone have any ideas?
EDIT: I should mention that we're on XML Publisher v 5.6.3

Upgraded to CS5 Illustrator form CS3 Illustrator. Colors are not printing correctly in CS5

I have just recently purchased CS5 Premium Suite. I am working with Illustrator. When I print my CS3 Illustrator files in CS5 the colors are not printing correctly. Is there a way to fix this problem

I've been doing more troubleshooting since I wrote this post. I've now tried printing from a non-Adobe app and I'm getting the same margin error. So it is definitely a Xerox issue and I have a tech coming out on Monday.
The reason I originally figured it must be an CS5 issue is because just two weeks ago when I was using CS2, our landscape-oriented programs were printing with .25" margins as they should. Then last week after upgrading to CS5, the inside page (2nd page) was noticeably out of whack and shifted to the right (not left). But when I started trying to troubleshoot this week, everything started shifting to the left.
The only thing different between those two weeks was the fact I updated to CS5.
But obviously, my printer as decided to go to crap in more ways than one all in a two week period. Hopefully the tech can sort it out next Monday.
