Issue in updating the Huge XML

Hi All,
Database Credentails:
Oracle 9i R2.
I have a huge xml like this,
<Root>
<abc></abc>
<abc></abc>
<abc></abc>
</Root>
The <abc></abc> will be more than 10000 under the <Root> tag.
I have tried to update this xml by using the following script,
for i in 1 .. 10000
loop
SELECT UPDATEXML(v_xml,'/Root/abc['|| i ||']','<abc>'|| i || '<abc>')
INTO v_xml;
dbms_output.put_line(i); -- Just to check how many values were updated
end loop;
While executing the above sample code, i am getting the error called
INVALID XPATH EXPRESSION,
some times it is executing to some number after that i am getting the above error. when i try execute the same code again i will get error for different i value.
Could you please help me out to fix this bug/mistake for me. Please provide me some sample code for this.
Thanks in Advance,
Vinoth Kumar S.

You don't need any loop for this. simple UPDATEXML statement should do.

UPDATEXML(T.COLUMN_VALUE,'/ABC',XMLTYPE('<ABC>'||ROWNUM||'</ABC>'))

  • Updating the whole xml file in  XMLType column

    Hi ,
    I am facing the problem in updating the XMLTYPE column.
    I need to update the whole xml file
    This is my table
    SQL> desc EMPJAL_TABLE;
    Name Null? Type
    EMPLOYEEID NOT NULL VARCHAR2(140)
    EMPCOM VARCHAR2(100)
    EMPJAL SYS.XMLTYPE(XMLSchema "www.EMPSIM.com" Element "EMPJAL") STORAGE
    Object-relational TYPE "EMPJAL_T"
    I am able to form the CLOB object and trying to use this sql command
    UPDATE EMPJAL_TABLE SET EMPJAL = XMLType( ? ) ) WHERE EMPLOYEEID ='emp1234';
    Here I want to update the whole xmlfile in XMLTYPE column.
    Error is - ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended
    Please advise
    Thanks
    Govinds

    Hi Mark,
    I apologise for this mistake. I am really putting lot of efforts and also worked/working in advance topics of XML DB.
    Yes I am extensively using Oracle 10g r2 and suggesting others to use this
    This time I had put more effort before posting ,I had a series of queries to resolve most of then were working , this was the one giving problem inside my java code
    I am sorry for this .
    Any how I made another query which works better.
    Thanks
    Govinda

  • Update the passed XML in a PL/SQL procedure and then use DBMS_XMLSAVE

    hi folks,
    This is a great forum and most of you guys were awesome in replying to complex queries........
    I have a small issue, I am trying to do a bulk insert from my application by constructing an XML result set and pass that XML to the SP as a CLOB and using DBMS_XMLSAVE package to insert it to the oracle table. It works like a charm for me when this is as straight forward as this. But when my requirement is, I need to generate sequence numbers for a particular column (Primary key column), while for other columns I pass values from the UI (as a XML object which my SP accepts as a CLOB), i am at a loss for solution to achieve this. It would mean, that I have to generate the sequence numbers for each row and then update this value to the passed XML clob. Any indicators on how to achieve this?
    I found this solution at one of the thread which might most probably help me,
    declare
    2 l_cnt number;
    3 begin
    4 select count(*) into l_cnt from books,xmltable('/Books/Book' passing object_value);
    5 for i in 1..l_cnt loop
    6 update books set object_value =
    7 updatexml(object_value,'/Books/Book['||i||']/BookID', xmlelement("BookID",sequence_bookid.nextval))
    8 where existsnode(object_value,'/Books/Book['||i||']')=1;
    9 end loop;
    10 end;
    11 /
    But here, they are trying to update a XMLTable book, but in my case the XML is a clob object and not a XML table. Will this solution work for my case as well? Please provide any pointers to me... Thanks...

    First if your version of Oracle has DBMS_XMLSTORE, use that instead.
    Reason: {thread:id=876376} (See Marco's response).
    It is possible you could run into issues, but you should start with DBMS_XMLSTORE.
    Since you will have the XML in the SP, treat the data as an XMLType instead of a CLOB for as long as you can since you need to do UpdateXML on it.
    For your sample PL/SQL code, lines 4-5 are replaced with the WHILE loop shown in Method 2 at
    {message:id=3610259}.
    The UPDATE would be replaced with the following pseudocode
    SELECT UPDATEXML(<l_xmltype_variable>, ...)
    INTO <l_xmltype_variable>
    FROM dual;
    Once your loop is done, l_xmltype_variable would contain your updated XML and then you can use that XMLType directly on the call to DBMS_XMLSTORE or convert it back to a clob via
    l_clob_variable := l_xmltype_variable.getClobVal();

  • Issue in updating the Template definition using XDOLOADER command

    Hi All,
    My requirement is to update the territory value as 00 from 'US' in the template screen.So I am using the XDOLOADER command to update the exising template defintion and the issue here is instead of replacing the old template territory value,it is creating new entry in the template screen as well as in xdo_lobs table.I am specifying the custom mode as FORCE to update the existing template definition,but unable to understand why it is not updating the old template and creating new entry
    Below is the code snippet of the XDOLOADER command
    java oracle.apps.xdo.oa.util.XDOLoader UPLOAD \
    -DB_USERNAME apps \
    -DB_PASSWORD $pwd \
    -JDBC_CONNECTION hostname:portno:servicename \
    -LOB_TYPE TEMPLATE \
    -APPS_SHORT_NAME IBY \
    -LOB_CODE XX_FORMAT \
    -LANGUAGE en \
    -TERRITORY 00 \
    -XDO_FILE_TYPE RTF \
    -FILE_CONTENT_TYPE application/rtf \
    -FILE_NAME XXFILE.rtf \
    -CUSTOM_MODE FORCE
    Much appreciated if someone could provide an inputs on this issue.Pls let me know if you require any additional info.
    Regards,
    Rajesh

    I guess it is just not possible. The territory code is part of a key element in one of the tables.
    So, the easiest is probably to delete the old and create the new.

  • Performance issue while updating the  custom  infotype records

    Hi All
    i have the info type with 80,000 records my requirement is to change the infotype wage type value to the  certain hard coded values .
    after populating the final internal table , in loop i am passing the records and updating the info type by using the hr_infotype_operation function module
    i have done the coding like bellow .
    loop at lt_infotype assigning     < x>
    at new pernr.
    bapi_employee_enquee
    endat.
    hr_infotype_operation
    at end of pernr .
    bapi_employee_dequee.
    endat.
    end loop.
    but it is taking nearly 15 hours to update all the records .please suggest me better solution for reducing the execution time .
    Thanks & Regards ,
    pramodh.m

    The delay problem can be solved with HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION by using it with another FM i.e. HR_PSBUFFER_INITIALIZE the delay happens because of buffer problem. Use HR_PSBUFFER_INITIALIZE inside the loop just before you call HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION and you wont see that much delay.

  • Issue in updating the long text for Routings

    Hello,
    I am developing an onject to update Long text(which are already created but need to be overwritten).
    Can this be done using /SAPDMC/SAP_LSMW_IMPORT_TEXTS via LSMW.
    I developed an LSMW witht this, I am able to retrieve the required field for name which are needed as key from tables.But how can I dynamically update this field for the correct value relating the operation.One issue regarding this I am facing is that in conversion, I have operation number in the source field and have maintained source field according to source file but use values just to retrieve correct value for name field in mapping,it is taking only the last operation number into account from the source file itself and not earlier values.please guide.
    Regards

    yes you can use /SAPDMC/SAP_LSMW_IMPORT_TEXTS via LSMW
    In the SAP system, there is no uniform rule for the structure of the actual text key Textname. However, in order to be able to maintain the structures and fields, you have to know what the structure of text name as well as the values for text object and text ID are.
    Procedure
           1.      Display a text of the required text type.
           2.      Branch to the editor.
           3.      Choose Goto > Header.
    The Text header dialog box appears.
    Result
    In the Text header dialog box, you gather the required information.

  • SOAP TO RFC . Issue in updating the fields in BAPI

    Hi XI experts ,
    This is SOAP TO RFC scenario .
    THe Source is an dtd (create PO ) schema provided by external partners .
    The Target is : BAPI : BAPI_PO_CREATE1 , a standard BAPI used to craete PO in SAP .
    I need to map the below source fields to the  BAPI Fields:
    1.     ReferenceTypeCodedOther>ACC_STR</ReferenceTypeCodedOther> then <RefNum>1000</RefNum> ->
    2.     <ReferenceTypeCodedOther>G_L_ACCT</ReferenceTypeCodedOther> then RefNum>5423100</RefNum>
    3.     <ReferenceTypeCodedOther>COST_CTR</ReferenceTypeCodedOther> then <RefNum>313</RefNum>
    4.     ReferenceTypeCoded>AccountCategory</ReferenceTypeCoded> then <RefNum>ZNCC</RefNum>
    -I have changed the context of the   "Ref NUm" to -ReferenceTypeCoded ( Main Node)
    2. Lets take an example of 2 :"
    iF <ReferenceTypeCodedOther> = G_L_ACCT , Then RefNum (5423100<)  -> Leading zero function (to make it 10 digits) =GL_ACCOUNT field of BAPI
    here i have used , if ReferenceTypeCodedOther  <> SUBSTRING (0-7)  <Equals text> G_L_ACCT then  <RefNum>  LeadingZero Function with constant 10 -> GL_ACCOUNT (Field of BAPI)
    Similarly this logic should get applied for all the other 3 conditions
    But when i used the substring , it throws an error : Error:
    Exception:[java.lang.StringIndexOutOfBoundsException: String index out of range: 1] in class com.sap.aii.mappingtool.flib3.TextFunctions method substring[,
    I tried creating this Java function: to extract the string, but this throws an error of Java container
    Does anyone hve a simple solution . Appreciate your input.
    Thanks,
    Vara
    public String Extract_String(String a,Container container){
       //write your code here
    // u201Cau201D  is your input that is reference field
    boolean flag=false;
    if ((a.contains("ACC_STR"))|| (a.contains("G_L_ACCT "))||( a.contains("COST_CTR"))||(a.contains("AccountCategory")))
    flag = true;
    return flag;
    with Java.lang.*   --- > imported  , but this throws an error

    Hi Baskar ,
    The Issue got solved , I used a  java function : To exatrct the string comparing the : String value which I provide as Input .
    This function inturn consolidate the value and will pass it one context (PO_ACCOUNT ) of BAPI .
    I used this code by changing the  CONSTANT :(VALUE ) for other 3 conditions  mentioned in my query.
    Java function:
    For Cost Centre(COST_CTR) field of BAPI:
    public void Value(String[] a,String[] b,ResultList result,Container container){
    Java IMport :java.lang.String;java.lang.*;
    //write your code here
    int m= a.length;
    int n= b.length;
    String s="COST_CTR";
    for (int i=0; i<m ;i++)
    if(a<i>.equals(s))
    result.addValue(b<i>);

  • How to add another serve into the cluster without updating the tangosol xml

    Currently we have two servers in the cluster and incase want to expand it further, add the entry in tangosol-coherence-override.xml.
    What i am looking for is coherence providing kind of API using which I can tell it that here is the new/latest list of servers in the cluster. If there is a change then the cluster should be able to accommodate accordingly.
    More of a dynamic self expansion and reduction ability of the Coherence cluster based on the published information.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I do not think this is presently feasible. I have filed COH-2374 for tracking purposes requesting an implementation of the host-filter element for the authorized-hosts for cluster-config similar to the host-filter element for authorized-hosts for tcp-acceptor. This would enable the specification of a Filter implementation that would be used to determine if a host should be allowed to join the cluster.

  • Issue after Configuring the oc4j_soa to OID

    Hi All,
    I just tried to configure the oc4j_soa OC4J instance of SOA suite to use Oracle Internet Directory. as a part of this process, after selecting orbpel and hw_services applications, we tried to restart the oc4j_soa OC4J instance however got the error: OPMN could not start all the processes...we Stoped and Started the SOA suite.
    When I tried to stop the ascontrol of home and started the ascontrol of oc4j_soa from the back end by updating the server.xml file of corresponding oc4j instances.
    unable to start the Application server Control i.e. not even getting the SSO login page..why?
    Thanks

    Hi Krrish
    You may want to post on the SOA/BPEL forum - BPEL
    Check the server logs under $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs to see if they reveal the cause of the issue.

  • Issue in Updating Sales Order Document flow

    Hi Experts,
    We have developed a Z Program for posting Material document for the deliveries of Sales Order. This program runs in Batch job everyday.
    Here we are getting an issue like in some of the cases it's not updating the Document flow of the Sales order though its Posting Material Document for the Delivery of Sales Order. If there will be a bulk amount of data then its creating issue in updating the Document flow ( Either the 1st set of record or last set of records).
    We are using BAPI 'BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE' for posting Material Document for the delivery and FM 'RV_DOCUMENT_FLOW_UPDATE_U' for updating the document flow.
    It seems it giving issue with bulk amount of data. Will it a time issue?
    If any one have faced such issue, please throw some pointers.
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Priyabrata.

    It could be a timing issue. After you create the material document, try to enque the material document and move to the next step  only if the enque is successful.  Keep trying to enque the material document until u are successful. But make sure you exit the loop after certain number of tries to avoid endless loops.  Here is a sample code:
      DO 20TIMES.
        CALL FUNCTION ;'ENQUEUE_EMMKPF'
          EXPORTING
            MODE_MKPF      = co_e
           MBLNR          = xxxxx
          MJAHR           = xxxx
          EXCEPTIONS
            foreign_lock   = 1
            system_failure = 2
            OTHERS         = 3.
        IF sy-subrc EQ 0.
    dequeue/unlock the notification again
          CALL FUNCTION DEQUEUE_EMMKPF
            EXPORTING
              MODE_MKPF= co_e
           MBLNR          = xxxxx
          MJAHR           = xxxx
         EXIT.
        ELSE.
    in case of no success, wait 1 seconds, before try again
          CALL FUNCTION 'RZL_SLEEP'
            EXPORTING
              seconds        = 1
            EXCEPTIONS
              argument_error = 1
              OTHERS         = 2.                               "#EC *
        ENDIF.
