Issue on LOV with Transient VO

Hi Experts,
I have droped my viewobject(EMP) as a creationform.
In that form i have one attribute (job) as lov and I am getting the values of that lov from a procedure and inserting into
a Transient VO in application mod class and I am executing the method (which contains procedure call ) on page load.
I have assigned this transient VO(job VO) for the List of values of job attribute in EMP VO and droped the VO as
a form in page.
When I run the page the LOV has no values.
But when I test the job VO it has all the values which I have instered.
Can you please help me in gettng the values in to LOV.
note : for understanding purpose i have this emp and job example. I can not get the values directly from table for job attribute here

Strange Issue with Pop-up LOV with key value return

Hi,
I have a region, containing several LoV items. One of the items is of type PoP-up LoV with return key value.
Now when i run this page, i get page cannot be found error. But, If i a change the item type to select list with submit ( and not pop up lov with return key), I am able to run the page. It does not give me page cannot be found error.
Please suggest some pointers as to why I am running into this issue when item type is pop-up lov with return key value.

what version of apex are you using? Can you recreate the problem on apex.oracle.com?

LOV with subselect shows return_value instead of display_value

I have the following dynamic SQL based LOV with a union in it that does not display correctly in the application.

The problem I have is the first part of the SQL is displaying the return_value instead of the display_value. If I comment out the following the proper value is displayed in the application.

We currently have version 4.0.1.00.03 installed.
Is there an issue with this version and what I am trying to do or is there something wrong with what I'm doing? The SQL returns the proper results if I run it in the SQL workshop so I'm at a loss here and if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

The value is correct. I can run the entire SQL in workshop using parameter substitutions and it returns all the values correctly. So running this

Refresh issue in LOV Switcher

Guys,
I facing a issue from LOV Switcher.
Let me explain the scenario:
I have search page (SearchPage.jsff), i have created page (CreateEditPage.jsff).
CreatePage.jsff has a LOV (Lov is implemented using LOV swither, displays either LOV 1 or LOV2 depnding on the attribute in the viewobject)
1. I navigate from SearchPage.jsff to CreateEditPage.jsff. As per the logic, Lov 1 is displayed. (as expected)
2. Now am back to SearchPage.jsff, and again navigate to CreateEditPage.jsff. As per the logic LOV 2 is displayed. (as expected)
3. Now am back to SearchPage.jsff, and again navigate to CreateEditPage.jsff. As per the logc, LOV 1 should be displayed, but it is displaying Lov 2. (when i refresh the page using F-5, the proper LOV is displayed).
There seems to be some issue with the LOV refresh.
Anybody faced similar issue??

Query works in Test mode but fails with transient failure

I have a query that works well while testing with input json data. However, when the job is started the query fails with transient failure.
I have two eventhub input sources input1 and input2. I also have a reference data source in a blob, ref.
The query is

I solved the problem.
The issue was in conversion of incoming data to write into an SQL db.
Query failed to convert
System.Int64 (incoming data format) to System.Double ( SQL column data format)
I solved it by changing SQL column format to int, but I think this casting should be done automatically by the query. I can also CAST the data I guess but sometimes using CAST on everything is kind of a pain.
Another issue I faced was the failure messages. I checked the logs for last 12 hours. Sometimes the failure will point to the Writing Error (conversion of int to double) but sometimes the failure will simply be transient failure. So it was difficult to pinpoint
the error exactly.

I agree with you on all.
However, with regards to #2 and permissions, be aware that just because an app asks for permissions to contacts that it doesn't necessarily want to read your contacts. It likely just wants to be able to give you the option to share something with a contact via email, text message, or the like. Many times we wonder why an app asks for permissions to something that seems totally unrelated to the app but only needs it programmatically to work. You can deny permissions but many times the app won't function properly.
My opinion: If you are installing an app you don't trust with the permissions it asks for I wouldn't install the app at all.

Using LOV with Validation on the Numeric Fields results in Error

Dear JHeadstart Team,
During my work with lov I encountered another problem. I defined a lov and attached the lov to a numeric field and check the LOV for validation. Now when I use LOV using the LOV button it works fine but when I enter some numbers and then press tab the LOV was not shown correctly and resulted in the following errors and the worst thing is that you can not navigate to any other pages and all try to navigate to other pages results in errors too. When we put the same LOV on a string field (which is not desirable for us) it worked fine.
It seems to me like a bug. Am I right? Is ther any solution or workaround for this problem?

We ran into the same bug and have the next workaround for it:
We extended the JHeadstart class 'LovItemBean' and we have overridden the method 'validateWithLov(...)' with:

      newEvent.setPhaseId(valueChangeEvent.getPhaseId());
      super.validateWithLov(newEvent);
    else
      super.validateWithLov(valueChangeEvent);
}Next step is to use a custom template in your JHeaedstart Application Structure file for 'LOV_ITEM_BEAN'. In this custom template you should use your own class as 'managed-bean-class' instead of the default JHeadstart one.
Now you can safely generate LOV with validation of number fields.
Maybe something the JHeadstart can pcik up in the next release of JHeadstart :-)

Using LOV with bind var as custom attribute?

I have an Portal LOV which uses a bind variable.
Can I use this LOV as a custom attribute? If so, how do I specific the bind variable value?
In the display option of the attribute I tried LOV_NAME(LOV_Bind => 'value'), but the LOV is not applied.

It's been quite a while, but I think I remember trying this and not being able to achieve it. You can use a LOV with a bind variable in a report or in a form, or similar, but there is no way in an item to from specify where to get the bind variable. My suggestion if this is a requirement would be to use a portal form which submits to a stored procedure or pl/sql generated form to gather the attributes and then programmatically create the item using the APIs. Takes a bit of work, but gets you exactly what you described above.

We can introduce technical intersection tables in order to generate the Shuttles with JHeadstart 10g R3 if necessary, but there is no “functional” need to update any data in the database and therefore it would be practical if the ‘right’ side from a Shuttle can be based non-base table ViewObjects with transient attributes only. So, our interested is to know which records have been selected, i.e. moved to the right side from the Shuttle.

This cannot be generated out-of-the-box.
It is easiest to add the shuttle post-generation to your page, and then create a custom template to generate your custom shuttle into the page. I suggest you take a look at an example of a generated shuttle in a page, and the JHeadstart IntersectionShuttleBean class. You will see that the value property of <af:selectManyShuttle> points to the selectedKeys method in the JHeadstart Shuttle bean. In your case, you can create your own managed bean and bind the value property to your own method which will provide you access to the selected rows. The value property of the selectItem within the af:selectManyShuttle determines the property that is used to identify the selected row (which is the row key in case of Jhs-generated shuttles).
