Issue: Saving dynamic form as reader extended (to allow saving) causes certain header rows to repeat

I use LiveCycle to create electronic forms/worksheets for the group I support at work.  I've had two worksheets have this issue recently.  One I was able to fix by going to my previous version, re-editing, and re-saving.  The other continues to be a problem.  The worksheet is dynamic, and has several add row features.  The form continues to work fine, but the header rows in certain tables repeat when saved as a reader extended file which allows my users to save the form (required for our work).  I've completely re-done the worksheet from scratch, as well as re-editing from previous versions with no luck.  The best I can do is get repeats to change header rows.
This is the dynamic file prior to saving as a reader extended document:
And after:
Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?  I can't spend hours re-creating the entire document if its just going to happen again...
Thanks.

The entire worksheet was created in Design View - so all the script written was done automatically by LiveCycle - The tables all exist with a single row to start, and rows have the ability to be added dynamically.  As far as the scripts referencing header rows, I do notice that the header rows in each table are all named the same ("header row") in the script - could this have caused a glitch?  In the hierarchy chart, they are separated out by a bracketed number, so it seems to realize they are separate.  But let me try renaming each one separately...
Well that worked!  Its the first time I've been able to Extend the document without extra rows on this version of the worksheet!  So all I did for future users, was to make sure each Header Row was specifically named differently - so HeaderRow1, HeaderRow2, etc.
Thank you so much!

  • Saving dynamic forms in Acrobat Reader

    How do you create PDF dynamic forms and save them so that they can be completed and saved  in Acrobat Reader.

    Thank you very much for your help. As I said this was my first attempt with Livecyle. I had sold the concept of dynamic forms to a collegue and promised to do a dynamic form one for him before going on a winter holiday. Completed the form in a hurry only to find I could not enable users with Acrobat Reader. My worry was that I would not be able to save dynamic forms without additional software, but your helpful comments confirm its something I have done that is causing my issue.
    I think Livecycle is a great product, but fragmented information is available for individual users. Bought the Book PDF Forms Using LifeCycle Designer (Acrobat 9) and joined PDFscripting web service which are both good in there own way. I get confused with Adobe's help, not being IT techie and the difference of Enterprise Editions of LifeCycle on how to get the best out of LiveCycle.
    Many thanks George for you assistance, I will retry when I return from my winter break.

  • After saving PDF static files, reader extended privileges (ARES) are lost

    Hi,
    Technical information:
    LiveCycle 7.0 (which came with Acrobat Professional)
    ARES 7.0
    Reader 7.0.0, 7.0.1 and 7.0.2
    Windows 2000
    PDF Static file type (as we are not dynamically adding/removing document objects)
    Scenario:
    PDF contains javascript to change the background and border colour of form fields (e.g. node.fillColor = '255,255,170' changed to '192,192,192') to denote enabled/disabled fields.
    PDFs are reader extended, so, user should be able to enter and save data on the documents multiple times.
    Problem:
    Reader extension rights of PDFs were lost. For example, in Reader, open document, update/enter data, save, and close. Do this multiple times and make sure one of the form fields background colour changes. When the document is re-opened its reader extension privileges are lost and user is no longer able to update/enter data on the document.
    This worked with our pilot forms (using AcroForm and ARES 6.0)
    ADOBE Explanation:
    The underlying XFA document is changed when the form field's background property was changed, hence, it is no longer a static form and its reader extended rights has changed.
    Resolution:
    PDF's file type changed from Static to Dynamic. Some logically driven functions will have to be changed/duplicated (e.g. calling enabling/disabling function(s) from the documents' docReady event).
    Have to use Reader 7.0.2 to be able to open, update, save, and close document multiple times without loosing reader extended rights.
    Hope this helps others

  • Problem saving dynamic forms

    We created dynamic forms using LiveCycle. The users download them to their local PC and enter data. After they enter data they can initially save the form to their PC. However, after that initial save they have trouble saving the form. For some users they can save the same form five or six times before getting the error message for other users it can happen at the second attempt to save. We have set the form to have no security.
    The error message is the following:
    This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed since it was created and the use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document.

    I discovered an answer to this problem, at least in my case...
    I posted my discovery in another forum topic here:

  • Saving dynamic forms problem

    Hi
    I have created a form with a dynamic subform to capture repeated information.  I have saved it and enabled reader rights in Acrobat.  When I go to save the form with the subform repeated it does not save the repeated subform, just the original subform.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    To say I have deselected 'form requires server side data binding and / or scripting' from the properties panel.  This is now saving the data however the repeating subform is not showing after I have saved it.  When I click the button to repeat it opens up again with the data showing.  I would like it to always be showing if possible.

  • Lifecycle form (pdf) reader extended though adobe pro will not email though adobe reader

    I have windows 7, adobe pro X and adobe reader X, and thunderbird 9.01 email client.
    I have a PDF form (created in lifecycle 9.0.0.2_) that is complete and is reader extended though adobe pro x.
    It will send the email correctly in abobe pro x, it opens all the correct windows etc and sends, and I receive the filled out PDF form.
    When I open the form in adobe reader X it opens the correct window as before, but never sends the email.
    Can any one here be of some help.
    Thanks
    Steve

    As I understand your post, you have the form from Designer that you added Reader Extensions in Acrobat Pro X. With Acrobat, the e-mail submission works fine, but with Reader, the e-mail is not sent and no error messages are given.
    I am not sure if the Reader Extensions need to be done from Designer or Acrobat. That is the only issue that I can think of, but did not think it was an issue. I am not a Designer user and so it may be hard to tell. You might need to ask in the LiveCycle forum for Designer.

  • Bizarre CFIF issue with dynamic form variables? Very strange...

    I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here.  Here's my code.  Issue explained below.
                <cfquery name="reviewconfigloader" datasource="MOLMS">
                SELECT *
                FROM dbo.BaseModel
                WHERE dbo.BaseModel.AccountID = #molmsAccountID# AND.dbo.BaseModel.basemodelActive = 1
                </cfquery>
          <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="3">
            <cfloop query="reviewconfigloader"><cfif isdefined("form.baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#") AND ("form.baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#") NEQ "" AND ("form.baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#") NEQ 0><cfoutput><tr>
              <td width="40%" bgcolor="##F7F7F7" class="basemodelsub">     #form['baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#']#  #reviewconfigloader.basemodelName# #reviewconfigloader.basemodelSubName#</td>
              <td width="15%" bgcolor="##F7F7F7" class="basemodelsub"><div align="center">x 14 </div></td>
              <td width="15%" bgcolor="##F7F7F7" class="basemodelsub"><div align="center">$486/yr</div></td>
              <td width="15%" bgcolor="##F7F7F7" class="basemodelsub"><div align="center">$1444/yr</div></td>
              <td width="15%" bgcolor="##F7F7F7" class="basemodelsub"><div align="center">$1444/3 yr</div></td>
            </tr></cfoutput></cfif></cfloop>
          </table>
    What I'm doing here is fairly basic.I'm running a query with a number of configs in it...and then creating a loop to output them.  Ultimately, I only want the configurations that didnt have 0 submitted in the form on the previous page.  Each one of the configs in the config query has a dynamic form variable on the previous page with a quantity tied to it.  I am trying to eliminate all quantities past that aren't 0 (or not eliminate, just not show)...as you can see from the cfif statement.
    Here's where it gets weird.  You'll notice I output #form['baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#']#, just for testing, which shows me the quantity as it should.  I ran a test and put in a couple of 1s, 0s, 12s, 6s, etc in the form fields on the previous page.  If this thing worked, it wouldnt show anything for any of the records with their basemodelID value being submitted as 0.  Not the case.  It shows all records.  What is more hilarious is that it outputs perfectly in my test #form['baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#']#, showing the correct numbers entered in the previous form, the 1s, the 0s, etc, tied to each record.  But for whatever reason, the cfif code isn't catching it.
    What's even more bizarre...I replaced the cfif ("form.baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#") NEQ 0 with GT 12 (12 was the highest number that I put in the form) and it still showed all records.  Then I put it in as LT 12 and it showed nothing.  I decided  to take it one step further and put it in for GT 1231243242343 (random massive number), which it still showed all of the records.  So somehow, my CFIF statement thinks that  ("form.baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#") is a incredibly large number, although when I output it in the row below, it is the number it should be.
    I'm stumped.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!!

    Hey Dan...thanks....unfortunately...with the cfif testing, thats kinda what I'm
    doing because I dont have an "expected" value.  My expected value is anything a user inputs thats greater than zero, hence NEQ 0 and NEQ "". The real problem is taht what I'm outputting works and what the cfif clause is seeing is obviously very different.
    As far as your comment about looping out the variables and then setting a query equal to the value in a cfquery, remember...these are form objects and therefore nothing can be tied back to the database.  The result from the code is establishing a form variable (example.... form.basemodel1 (if 1 was the basemodelID from the database query) so it can capture whatever data the user has passed from the previous page in a text input.  So that input could have been 23, it could have been 1053.
    So really the only way to do it is create a query and loop out the variables.... and attach them to form objects (basemodel1, basemodel2, basemodel3 etc where the 1,2 and 3 are the unique ID's for those models in the database), and then look for where those form objects may have been filled in in the previous page by stating IF this form object not equal to 0 or "", output the data.
    Does that make sense?  Thanks for the help guys I'm completely stumped by this.  I've done this a million times with CFIF and I'm really struggling with why this isnt working....

  • Strange Issue: Hyperion Planning forms becomes read-only and data is wiped out: 11.1.2.2

    Hi,
    Let me start by saying that I am not new to Hyperion Planning. We are experience a weird issue in our System Test. We notice that some (NOT ALL) of our webforms turn into readonly webforms; all the cells on the form at greyed out. This is inspite of the fact that the read-only checkbox is unchecked on the form as well as security is fine on all dimensions ; basically all the cells on the form are valid combinations.
    Still the form become readonly and all the data in that form is wiped-out. this happened only for two web forms so far. We are running bunch of calcs(none of the calcs have cleardata command). we are not sure why is this happening. this might be some bug in the product... not sure. has anyone seen this behaviour before ?
    please let me know.

  • Adobe Acrobat form created and emailed but recipient cannot save the form in reader after filling it out

    When I purchased Acrobat today, the Adobe sales rep told me I could create fill-in forms that I could email to others, who could fill them out using Adobe Reader.  When the recipient tried to save the completed form, he was unable to save it to his computer, only able to print.  Is this correct, or is there a step we are unaware of?  He owns Adobe Acrobat Pro 9, but I'm using Acrobat 11 (purchased it today).  Acrobat Pro 9 cannot open the forms I sent...  now we are stuck.
    Solutions?

    Hi DMOliver,
    Please try saving the form as 'Reader Extended' and check.

  • Why can't I save the form I created in Acrobat XI as a Reader Extended PDF?

    I created and saved the document just like I have always done, with form and signature fields.  When I click file>save as>reader extended, it let's me go through and name a new verison of the file, but then says "This document cannot be saved as reader enable."  It gives no reason.  If I can't save it as reader enabled, as I've done in the past with every single form, I'd like to know WHY so that I can fix it.

    I have run into this issue at times too. If you have the original document that you used to create the form saved in a folder in Windows Explorer, try closing Windows Explorer before saving the document with reader extended properties enabled. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesnt. . .

  • Reader Extending Designer Form in Acrobat Pro 8

    Dear All,
    Last year I managed to put together an organisational survey where users fill in a form created in Designer 7.0 and then hit a submit button which spits all entered data out to an MS Database. It worked great.
    I reader extended this survey to work on adobe reader 7.0 as that was what was installed on most of the client machines at the time.
    Now I am revising the survey for 2008 but running into a problem which has just about got the better of me.
    No matter what I do, running the reader extended form in adobe reader ver x.x does not submit the entered data to the database. Yet if I run it in Acrobat Pro or the preview tab through Designer, it works fine.
    For simplicity, I have created a test form.
    It only has a text field which is linked to a field within an MS database. The MS database only has 1 field.
    The form then has a submit button which contains the following java code for the click event.
    xfa.sourceSet.test.update();
    xfa.sourceSet.test.close();
    app.alert("Worked!!!!");
    Another button (which is set to invisible) contains the following java code
    xfa.sourceSet.test.open();
    xfa.sourceSet.test.addNew();
    which is triggered on the initialize event.
    All works fine until I have to open the form in Acrobat Pro 8 to reader extend it. The saved reader extended version when opened in any reader version, does nothing when clicking the submit button. Yet I know it has been successfully reader extended because when opening in reader 7.0 it says you can save data entered in this form.
    I have tried with Designer 7.0 but same thing.
    When I open the form I created in early 2007 in Reader 7.0 and it works I sit mystified and say "How?"
    The issue is definetly with the reader extending.
    Any guidance will be greatly appreciated as I have exhausted all avenues I can think of.
    Thanking You in advance.
    Daniel

    Acrobat 8 Professional includes LiveCycle Designer 8, so if the form was created with LiveCycle Designer 8 or older, the yes should have the option to edit the form. Acrobat 8 Professional under the menu option 'Forms' will have an option to open the form in LiveCycle Designer. If the form was created with a newer version, there could be some issues with newer features not available in version 8.

  • Completed reader extended forms coming up blank

    I have an issue with one of my Reader Extended forms (dynamic form created in LCD ES 8.2) and it's compatibility with different versions of Reader.  The problem occurs when the person completing the form has a different version of Reader than the person receiving the completed form.  When the completed form is opened in a different version, the form appears in it's original, incomplete state.  However, the completed form opens correctly if opened with the same version as was used to complete the form.
    All workstations here have either Reader 8.1 or Reader 9.  The order does not seem to make a difference - the Reader 9 completed form cannot be viewed correctly in Reader 8, and vice versa.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Niall,
    Changing the binding to "normal" worked. I was having some issues with the performance speed a few months ago, and one of the tips I read in an article was to turn off subform binding. It didn't have any negative effects on the form, but I did not have the opportunity to test it across multiple versions of reader. Even if I had the opportunity, it wouldn't have occurred to me that it might cause an issue such as this because the form data is not bound to an external data source.
    Thanks for your help!

  • Problem saving Reader extended PDF created in Livecycle with Javascript functions built in

    Afternoon
    I have created an interactive PDF in Livecycle with built in Javascript functionality.  I need users to be able to complete and save the PDF so have saved it as a Reader extended PDF.  The problem I'm having is that when a user completes the form,saves it, and then opens it again the Javascript functionality is not showing despite showing the original selection that the user has made.  The Javascript is simply a dropdown menu that will show a different table based on the selection so isn't anything major.
    I've trawled forums and this is driving me mad so I'd appreciate some help.
