Issue with automated Mail attachments since upgrade to OS X 10.6.4

Hello
I use several automator actions that create a new e-Mail with specific recipients and a prewritten text and a finder dialog that opens up and lets me chose the files to be attached to the e-Mail created by automator.
Since I upgraded to OS X 10.6.4 the attachment opened through the automator action blacks out the whole e-Mail (see picture here http://idisk.me.com/tburkart/Public/Pictures/Skitch/Neue_E-Mail-20100628-111438. jpg )
Any suggestions what may cause this issue?

It is a bug of Safari 5 (better said of WebKt)
See this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2453797&tstart=0
There you will find workaround by using a 3rd party application
There are other workarounds like using the Perl module sendEmail or 3rd party osax XMail
Or simply convert the outgoing email to plain text before sending it

  • Major issues with iLife and iChat since upgrade to 8.2

    Since upgrading to iTunes 8.2, I have not been able to use iChat, iPhoto or iMovie regardless of whether or not iTunes is running. iChat boots and then crashes. At first, it only affected iChat itself but now its taking down my whole system. iPhoto has dumped half of my pictures and will not reload them even though the files still exist and open in Preview. iMovie also will not load.
    I have tried to use the last update of iLife 08 (8.3) to fix any errors iTunes may have caused, but when I did so, I received an error message saying that I should reload iLife. ((I have no idea how I'm supposed to do that - it came pre-installed!)) I don't know what else to try, please help.

    I figured it out.
    Make certain all your devices are using the same Apple ID for iMessage. I have 2 IDs, and was signed in on different addresses.
    You can do this in settings.

  • Issue with Apple ID account since upgrading iPhone to iOS5

    When I origanaly set up my Apple ID account I linked it to my gemail address. When I was setting up iOS5 on my iPhone 4 it seems to have tried to transfer the ID to my mac.com email address.
    The problem now is that my MacBook still sees the gmail address as the linked address but my phone thinks its the mac.com account. As a result if a install a new app from the App store directly on my phone then sync with my MacBook, itunes thinks it is from a different account and will not copy the new App over claiming that it is not authorised for this account. If I then re-download the App on my MacBook and then re-synce the error message goes away.
    Also I have noticed that if I go into the iTunes menuing system both the 'Authorise this computer' & the 'De-Authorise this Computer' are highlighted in black. If there was only one account set up surely one or the other would be grayed out.
    This makes me think that somewhere on my setup it thinks there a 2 accounts to the same Apple ID.
    My question is could I be right in thinking this and if so how do I delete one of the two email addresses from the ID and mirge all my Apps  onto the remaining email address ?

    Hi a couple of questions to start:
    1. Do you have an Apple ID? If not it is a good idea to create one so that you can use iCloud - here's a link for creating and Apple ID: https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/createAppleId
    2. Also what settings do you have on your iPhone in iCloud? Is anything entered?
    Thanks

  • I have an mcc issue with my canon printer since upgrading to OS Maverick

    is there a software update for this?

    My Canon iSensys MF4660PL wouldn't talk to my MBP after Mavericks installed, just after it was released; Canon were no help, basically saying it was an old printer.....So I reverted back to Mountain Lion and all was OK.
    Whilst footling around round the Canon support website yesterday (the UK one) I noticed that the printer driver now included OSx 10.9. So I downloaded and installed this: printer still working (the printer is networked to the router and thence wifi to household devices)   Then downloaded and installed Mavericks and....printer wasn't working. Reinstalled the latest Canon printer driver, still not working. I sulked and went for lunch.
    Now I am not sure why I did this, but I deleted the printer from the Printer Scanner Control panel and then added it back in. Tried a test print and it whirred into life.....printing rubbish! Progress! I then removed it and added it again, this time choosing the correct printer from the drop down list in the "Use" box as opposed to the wrong one...durr...and....success!!
    SO dwb's advice seems the way to go.
    Yosemite looms......

  • OS X 10.10.1 Apple Mail reliability issue with Virgin Mail Servers

    Apple Mail(8.1) reliability issue with Virgin Mail Servers on my iMac and Laptop Pro with the new Yosemite update!  Spent 1.5hrs with the virgin team (thought we solved it by changing from Auto to one minute update) only to find on return I still have an issue with Mail!  On the iMac the account opens and I see all the mail arriving. When I switch over and the back, days of recent mail have disappeared?
    If I search for one I saw, It is found?
    On the Laptop Pro, its similar, but it also has a problem remembering the outgoing port no matter how often I save it keeps going back to port 143 and this makes the send fail each time?
    Will I have to move to another mail client or is their a fix coming?

    The last version of Mail for Tiger is v2.1.3 & there won't be any updates/upgrades.
    You might try the freeware mail app Thunderbird. http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/ It's newer than Mail for Tiger.

  • Having issues with Yahoo mail on ios4 on a 3GS

    Is anyone else experiencing issues with Yahoo mail on their 3GS after the upgrade to ios4?? Keep getting an imap server error, but gmail works fine.

    Same problem. I have two Yahoo! Mail accounts. One stopped sending mail, while the other was fine. (Both could receive, however.) To solve that, I deleted the problematic account from the phone and reinstalled it. It worked... until I synced by iPhone with iTunes. Now both Yahoo! Mail accounts will not work, and deleting them and reinstalling them does nothing.
    Apple had better fix this. (Or I'll whine louder.)

    Not using any mouse pad, I have a very smooth desktop. But I just tried to use a sheet of A4 printing paper, but no result, the problem persisted.
    Someone on this forum suggested, that USB3 may interfere with the magic mouse.
    I have 2 LaCie HDD's about 70 cm away from the mouse, I use them on Thunderbolt. But in operation or not - the result is the same, the mouse plays up! Just now I was clicking the desktop and the mouse created a new folder!!
    Thanks for the advice, Bee

  • After I updated iOS 5 can´t use the "open with" for mail attachments.

    After I updated iOS 5 on my iPad 2, I can not use the "open with" for mail attachments. The option is not appearing.
    For example, when I try to open an .wmv attachment the iOS 5 doesn´t show "open with". Before update, I was able to open with "AZUL" software.
    Can anyone help me?

    You did say that the option does not appear at all in mail no matter which file type you want to open correct? I can only assume that something went corrupt in the update that affected your settings and that's why this option no longer appears. For experimental purposes, you could try emailing a PDF to yourself and see if that will allow you to use the Open in function in the mail app.
    If nobody else jumps into this discussion with a different idea, then maybe you should try restoring your iPad. The best way to do so is - first backup the device - and then restore to factory settings and then you can try restoring from a backup at the end of the process.
    However, if one of your settings is corrupt, the backup will be corrupt as well. It may be that you will have to restore to factory settings and then start all over again - adding your apps and content back to the device to get the best results. I would certainly use this process as a last resort. Restoring from a backup maybe all that you need to do.

    Is anyone else having issues with their mail , where the reply from the person you just contacted contains very old emails from a different contact ?

    I mean that I sent an email to a contact of mine yesterday. His reply contained a stream of very old emails I had received in 2009 from a totally different contact all together !! The reply email was in my inbox as being from the original person I sent the email to. This is starting to happen more regularly now , so is a problem !

  • Unable to Connect to my organization's EAS using MS Mail app since upgrade to Windows 8.1 -- certificate error

    Last November, my ASUS laptop forced me to update to Windows 8.1.  Since then, I cannot connect to my organization's mobile EAS using the Mail/Calendar/People app.  The Mail app says "We could not connect to .... because of problems with its
    digital certificates.  Contact your system administrator for info."  I also tried to delete the account and recreate it.  At the account info screen, it gave a related error message, stating "To connect to this account, you need a
    valid certificate on the PC. Contact your system administrator for more info."
    In trying to recreate the account, I note that the 8.1 Mail app appears to have combined all EAS connections -- I seem to recall different options for connecting previously, including one that was more specific to mobile EAS connections.  My organization
    only supports connection to mobile devices, and I continue to be able to connect via Windows phone, Android (iOS devices also supported).
    I have done some digging and see that in my Windows Certificate Manager, there is a Personal Certificate with an error message. It's a "Token Signing Public Key" for "Client Authentication" using an RSA Public Key, but under the Certification
    Path tab, the status states "The issuer of the certificate could not be found."  I suspect this is the certificate that my organization's server is sending but is no longer being recognized by Windows 8.1.
    My organization has been unwilling to support me on this.  They point to the fact that all other devices work, my connection worked with Windows 8.0, and they don't have enough users that connect via Windows 8.1 laptops/tablets to troubleshoot on their
    end.  They also don't want to change setting that then cause other users to lose connectivity on the more commonly used mobile devices.
    So, to trouble shoot myself, I have looked up posts on related issues and I have done all of the following to no avail:
    - Make sure my Windows is up to date, including that latest Certificate/Credential update;
    - Uninstalled the Mail/Calender/People App, restarted, and reinstalled it;
    - Had MS Online support try to trouble shoot.  They created a test account and tried to connect using that to no avail.
    Notably, I have two Windows 8.1 machines -- my wife and I got matching ASUS laptops that both upgraded to 8.1 from 8.0  -- and I am unable to connect to my organization's mobile EAS using either machine.
    To me, this is clearly a Windows 8.1 issue.  The Mail/Calendar/People app should interface with mobile EAS exactly the same way that other mobile OSes do.  Apparently this was the case with Windows 8.0, but no longer.
    The last thing I'll add is that my organization requires password and remote wiping when connecting to the mobile EAS.  But, this wasn't an issue when I had Windows 8.0 -- it connected fine and mandated password and remote wipe features.
    NOTE: I originally posted this question on the Windows 8.1 Tehchnet forum and was told by an MS Engineer Soumya Sunda Debroy to repost in this forum.
    PLEASE ADVISE.  YOUR HELP IS APPRECIATED.
    - Dan

    Per the post above, I was pointed to Microsoft's remote connectivity analyzer and it appears to me that the GoDaddy Certificate -- which was compatible with Windows 8, is not compatible with Windows 8.1.  (See results below.

  • Problems with certain mail attachments after moving them to a different folder in Mail

    I am using Mac Mail as my default email client, and every once in a while when I move a message with an attachment from one folder to another (for example from my Inbox to my Personal folder) in Mail, the attachment will no longer show up, but rather an infinite set of characters.

    Get info on the drive.  What format?  FAT drives may be behave erratically for heavy-duty use of the kind you are doing. It's okay to leave a flash drive FAT formatted for light use but for heavy-duty file transfer I think you can encounter issues.
    iTunes does not look at files directly.  It maintains a database (library.itl) of the files in its collection.  When you play a track it looks up where that file is located and goes and plays the file in that location.  If you manually move a file or folder used by iTunes that database is no longer correct and you get broken links ( ! ).  If you want to move files or folders with iTunes you have to let iTunes do it.  Since iTunes is organizing your library there isn't much flexibility in what you can do other than move the whole collection to a different folder by changing the media location preference in preferences.

  • Issue with Automator and Circus Ponies Notebooks

    I have not found an Automator specific discussion, so let me know if there is somewhere else I should post this.
    I have created a limited backup program with Automator. It begins with "Get Specified Finder Items". The second step is "Copy Finder Items". I kept getting messages that it could not backup various Notebooks because it couldn't copy certain Notebook files. The issues were always with something in a Notebook .../Attachments/ that ended with the extension .moddates.
    Using PathFinder 5, I would right click and select Show Package Contents. I found numerous "contents.old.plist" files in these Notebooks which I deleted. I would try again and it would be another issue, but always with a Notebook file. In some other cases I found things in the attachments folder which I deleted, one of which was a .jpg of a screenshot of a a 'page' in Things. Two others were .eml files.
    I thought these actions would correct the issue, but now it seems that there is no end to this issue. Using PathFinder 5, show invisibles, and show package contents I see a .moddates file, but do not want to delete it.
    My next attempt at resolving this was to used PathFinder to just copy the Notebook directory directly to my Flash Drive which is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or HFS+. There was no problem copying the files this way, so I am wondering if the problem could be with Automator.

    The way that you are getting the value of the variables will only work in an Automator workflow, since that terminology is from Automator's scripting dictionary. If the workflow is saved as an application or is otherwise run outside of the Automator environment (i.e. no workflow window), another method will need to be used to retrieve the variables, such as preceding *Get Value of Variable* actions, a temporary file, or user defaults.
    If you aren't using any other input items, for example, you can use something like:
    1) *Get Value of Variable* { Variable: ProjectName } (Ignore Input)
    2) *Get Value of Variable* { Variable: ProjectManager }
    3) *Get Value of Variable* { Variable: RegionManager }
    4) *Get Value of Variable* { Variable: Partner }
    5) *Get Value of Variable* { Variable: TodayDate }
    6) *Run AppleScript*:
    <pre style="
    font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;
    font-size: 10px;
    font-weight: normal;
    margin: 0px;

    width: 720px;
    color: #000000;
    background-color: #DAFFB6;
    overflow: auto;"
    title="this text can be pasted into an Automator 'Run AppleScript' action">
    on run {input, parameters}
    set ProjectName to (first item of the input) as text
    set ProjectManager to second item of the input
    set RegionManager to third item of the input
    set Partner to fourth item of the input
    set TodayDate to (fifth item of the input) as text
    -- rest of script

  • Safari 5 crashes with Yahoo Mail attachments

    I just updated to Safari 5 and it crashes when I try to send a Yahoo email with attachment. My two other email accounts accept attachments with Safari but when I try to attach them in Yahoo, Safari freezes. Force Quit does not show that Safari is not responding but that's the only way I can close it. The type of file attached makes no difference -- text document, video or photo. Yahoo attachments work normally with Chrome. The other changes I made when updating Safari were those recommended in the June 5 Adobe security bulletin for Reader, Acrobat and Flash Player: I deleted the authplay.dll file in Reader/Acrobat and installed the 10.1 Release Candidate for Flash Player. (Also installed the 1.0 firmware update for the 27 inch display which should be irrelevant.) Yahoo Help only gives the duuuuh answer "Change browsers." Any suggestions?

    Having same problem, so sent an email to Yahoo Mail Premium Customer Care. Here is their response (we should all be sending our troubles to Apple, as well as to Yahoo, since this is obviously a problem with SAFARI -- and, so far, Yahoo! does not seem to know this fact):
