Issue with buttons

Hi guys, I'm having an issue with some thumbnail buttons that are part of my own folio site. I've already built the site but have been going back over it and improving it. I'm currently updating my gallery section which simply consists of thumbnails (images converted to button symbols) which load their corresponding image into a uiloader component via action script 3:

All I wanted to do was replace my old thumbnail buttons with new thumbnail buttons. To do this I:
1. deleted old thumbnail buttons
2. imported new images and converted to buttons using old thumbnail buttons instance name
3. added an alpha tween:

After doing this I've lost all button functionality in both flash preview and browser preview. Before making the changes the gallery worked fine, and the only change I've made to the code is adding in the alpha tweens. I've tried deleteing the tween code as a fix but it didn't work. I've triple checked instance names and get no error messages.
Would the problem have anything to with me switching the instance name onto a different object (step 2 above)? I'm still a bit of a newbie and feel this could be something pretty obvious, so apologies if it is. I'm using the mac version of flash CS5. Many thanks in advance.

Could you check if there is text onyour button. If there is a text, turn of the selectable option to false. This could be the issue
