Issues between Microsoft Office:mac 2004 (Student) and Korean Language

I use Microsoft Office:mac 2004 student edition on my iMac. For a Korean class I'm taking I type in Korean on Microsoft Word for Mac 2004 (student edition) and as to be expected Word indecates the spelling is wrong. I have tried to change the proofing setting so Word will Proof in Korean but I have been unsucessful. What can I do (or get or download) to get Word for Mac to proof Korean? If you think you may be able to help me but you find his message to be somewhat hard to understand please email me at [email protected] and I will to explain my issue more clearly.

Best ask in the newsgroups which MS runs for its products:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/community/community.aspx?pid=newsgroups
Are you sure the stuff you want exists? My info is that Office 2004 comes with proofing tools for English, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, German, Danish, Swedish, Portuguese, Finnish, and Dutch. No Korean or Chinese.

  • Installing Microsoft Office:mac 2004 Student and Teacher Edition

I am trying to install Microsoft Office:mac 2004 student and teacher edition.
I don't know how to achieve this.
I have tried the Office Setup Assistant but it says "You can't open the application "Office Setup Assistant" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported.
So, I assume I have to do the "Drag the Microsoft Office 2004 folder to your hard disk to install all Office components" option.
Being very new to iMac, my question is, "Where exactly do I drag it to?  Which icon along the bottom or should it go somewhere else?
    Any help would be great
    Thanks

It will not work with Mountain Lion. You need Office 2011 for OS X.
Office 2004 and Other Applications Don't Work in Lion/Mountain Lion
If you have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite, it will not work in Lion/Mountain Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion/Mountain Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
As for other software, any PPC-based software will not run in Lion or Mountain Lion because Rosetta is no longer part of OS X. You will need to upgrade to Intel versions of the software.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)

  • Microsoft Office:Mac 2004 under Yosemite

I know it's very (very) old, but I've been happily running Microsoft Office:Mac 2004 under Snow Leopard and am finally in a position to upgrade to Yosemite. I've found workarounds for all my other important legacy software but was wondering if it's even remotely possible to run Word:Mac 2004 and Excel:Mac 2004 under the new OS?

  • Microsoft Office:Mac 2004

I just bought my mom a new iMac w/Leopard and was setting it up for her. I had an extra install for Microsoft Office:Mac left and wanted to install it on her computer for her. I seemed to have some trouble and had to make a few attempts to successfully install it but it finally did. Now when I go to open Word, Powerpoint or Excel a message pops up that says "An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework Library". What does this mean? What do I do to correct it? I already tried to uninstall and reinstall it a couple times and it still occurs. The programs open and seem to work so far but don't know when a problem will occur. Any suggestions? My mom is used to this program and not interested right now in changing?

If you are going to follow the Microsoft EULA, I believe you are only allowed two active installs, and I know you agree that they will not be used at the same time.
I'll be honest, I think you would be better served buying mom a copy of the home/education Microsoft 2008 and installing that on her computer. If she is going to write to others with older versions of Word show her how to save in an older format.
If you are going to try to install the 2004, remove your first install using the 2004 install disk, reinstall, and immediately update the software. Just be sure you and mom don't set Autoupdate to run at the same time or you will be hearing from MS.

  • Compatibiity issues between Microsoft Office 2013 and Epsom Workforce 1100 Wide Format Printer

I just purchased a new Pavilion 23 HP computer with Windows 8 Operating System and Office 2013. I bought an Epson Workforce 1100 Wide Format printer several years ago. Upon installing it on my new computer, I noticed it was for operating systems from 2000
to 7 and did not include Windows 8. I downloaded the recommended driver for Windows 8. My computer recognizes the printer and will print pictures, web-articles, etc. but will not print any text from any of the Office 2013 documents. Can you help me?

    Hi,
I have a couple of questions about the issue:
    1. Did the print task show in the status bar when you use Office2013 to print?
    2. Did you try to print by using the Notepad?
    3. Did you get some error messages?
If we cloud not print from the Notepad, it seems a
compatibility issues between Windows8 and print driver. I recommend you post the issue to Windows 8 forum or connect Epson support.
Then,we also cloud upgrade all the latest Windows 8 and Office 2013 patches to test.

  • Office Mac 2004 S and T edition - Word - formatting palette disappears!

Open word document, click on 'formatting palette' in the toolbar, and lo! it 'genies' down and disappears off the bottom of my screen!
I've tried changing the screen settings, 'resetting' the toolbars, even uninstalling and reinstalling Office 2004, but all to no avail. It has only just started to do this, and is proving to be dashed annoying.
    Does anyone have any pointers?
    Many thanks...

Since Office is not an Apple product you'd probably be better off posting your question on MIcrosoft's own forums for Mac Office, as they would be more focused on the issue than an Apple forum about compatibility issues between Mac OS and Windows:

  • Anyone having trouble installing microsoft office mac home student ?

keeps saying i have to shut down safari, but even once i've shut safari down it still doesnt go to completion....  :S

Another point of interest at the end:    If you see a blue, horizontal, oval light on the Dock under the Safari icon then Safari is open.  The same applies to any application for that matter.
Clicking the red button at the top left corner of the window does not Quit Safari.  Instead it closes the window.  To properly Quit Safari, click the Safari menu, then click Quit Safari.   Alternatively, Command-Q is the keyboard short cut.

  • I have Office:mac 2004 and it won't download on my new MacBook Air.  Is it too old?  It says PowerPC applications are no longer accepted.

I have old Office:Mac 2004 Student and Teacher Edition from my previous MacBook and it won't download onto my new MacBook Air via external optical drive and says that PowerPC applications are no longer supported.  Am I stuck bying the newer version or is there a way around the software issue so I don't have to spend more money.  Thanks for your help.
    Kevin

You can purchase Offce 2011 from MacMall for about $99 so it is well worth the money.  As said in a previous post by Kappy, you can try one of the free office suites available.  They can read Office files and can save documents in Office format.  Apple's iWork is also a good ffice suite afavilable from the App Store by download. I have used Open Office,Libre Office and Neo Office and have liked each one of them.  Neo Office has the closest match to Apple operating systems - it just feels like an Apple program.  Open Office and Libre Office are also very good choices and dont have much of a learning curve at all.

  • Microsoft Office:mac 2011 want work with my script made in Microsoft Windows. May  be there is a file Problem.

    Hello!
Two years ago i made a script with a microsoft windows PC, using "Office Word".
Last year i changed my Hardware into apple Mac ,using Yosemite 10.10.3.
To work on with my script with apple i use Microsoft Office:mac 2011 Home and Student, but it want work. It is deeply frozen and very very slow. Mouse is not working normally. Pages are scrolling automatically. There is a Problem in kompatilibility between the file of my script (written by using a microsoft PC) and the apple computer e.g. Office:mac.
    Someone who can help?
    Ev

Apple support is not an expert source for Microsoft scripts, if Microsoft can't figure out their own software you'll just have to wait until someone who has had, and cured the issue.
    Sorry.

  • Is there a difference between microsoft office for mac and for windows?

As a college student it's important that everything is equal for windows and mac for using instructions. So i am wondering if theres a difference between microsoft office for mac and for windows?

There are differences between the two version of Office. If you need to be exactly like the Windows version, you will have to run Windows on your Mac.

I spent a lot of time trying to find a solution before buying.  I did not try the launch terminal solution....
I will check back so I can find out what to do should this happen again.
More possible bad news.  If you had followed what fane_j had asked you to do you might have found out it wasn't microsoft's fault for your problem and wouldn't have had to spend $150.  Because while you may have an Office that works, fane_j was not suggesting a solution but probing for a trojan (google "flashback trojan") that has been crashing powerpc code which is what Office 2004 is.
So if you do have the trojan, while you can run a version of Office, the trojan may still be in your system since installing a version of Office isn't going to remove it.  So I'll make another request.  Launch Terminal (in your Utilities folder) and copy/paste the following line into the terminal window and hit return:
    defaults read ~/.MacOSX/environment
If you see anything other than a "does not exist" error message you almost certainly do have the trojan and post the results in this thread.
The choice is yours.  You can ignore this and take the risk.  Or do what has been requested.

  • HT1338 office mac 2004 download issues onto iMac

I traded my macbook for an iMac and am having a problem downloading my office mac 2004 to my new computer. I have the product keys.

What will work depends on what you want to do.
    A) Do you need Mountain Lion (10.8.x). That is, do you have newer software which will not in Snow Leopard (10.6.x) and you had to upgrade to a newer version of OS X. This would include iCloud, which only exists for Lion (10.7.x) or Mountain Lion.
    B) You have no real need to upgrade to Mountain Lion.
    If A, then:
    1) As MlchaelLAX suggests, you can run Snow Leopard Server in a virtual machine such as Parallels or VMWare. Apple is currently selling Snow Leopard Server for only $20 to accommodate users who must maintain the use of older PowerPC software. Once you have the VM software installed, you then install SL Server within the VM. The end result is you have two versions of OS X running at the same time. Mountain Lion as the host OS, and Snow Leopard in the VM. You can then install Office 2004 within the VM under SL Server.
Be aware of cost and time. The cost of Parallels and SL Server isn't going to be all that much less than just upgrading to Office 2011. Be aware there are two versions. The more expensive Office 2011 Business Edition includes Outlook (replaces Entourage). The Home/Student version does not.
    If B, then:
Restore your last backup to put your Mac back to Snow Leopard and leave it there. If you don't have a backup, you'll need to first backup any files you cannot lose, since reinstalling Snow Leopard will require erasing the drive.
