Issues in attaching a search help to a transport?

Hello
We have a Z_search_help in the Developemnt system(its attached to TR# DEV12345678, which is not yet transported) because of some reason i have deleted this Z_search_help from TR# DEV12345678, well.
After couple of hours I decided to use it again for my other Z_table, so I went to Z_search_help and just made some changes to 'Short Description' field and some parameters (dummy parameter created, saved, deleted) and used the same TR# DEV12345678, well.
But, when I saw this TR# DEV12345678 in SE10, i have noticed my z_search_help is saved as 'Search Help Defination'! but when i checked my other search helps they saved as 'Search Help'!
Pls. let me know
1) Can I go ahead with this 'Search Help defination' and move the TR to QA box? or do i get any issues while transporting to QA box along with its associated Z table(in which I used this Search help)?
2) Whts the difference in these two terminology (Search help defination and Serach help?)
3) Am i all set? or do i need to delete this Z_search_help from the system and create a brand new search help with the same?
Thank you

Hi
1) Can I go ahead with this 'Search Help defination' and move the TR to QA box? or do i get any issues while transporting to QA box along with its associated Z table(in which I used this Search help)?
I think so as you have changed the structure of your search help, so all component of that search help will be transported
2) Whts the difference in these two terminology (Search help defination and Serach help?)
Sincenrely I don't know the real difference, but I've done your same steps and I've noticed the same behavior, I see the type of object attached to the request is different:
A) R3TR/SHLP/<search help> for Search Help
B) LIMU/SHLD/<search help> for Search Help Definition
Probably the first case A) is for a new search help, so when a search help is created, B) if it's changed: but I think in the both case all components of a search help will be transported
3) Am i all set? or do i need to delete this Z_search_help from the system and create a brand new search help with the same?
No
but if you want you can delete the search help from the request, and then you insert it manually again (just as explained in case A)

  • Attaching a search help to a selection screen "Select-options"

    Hello ABAPers,
    I have  a requirement to attach a search help to "select-options" .
When I checked the table corresponding to the field of select-options,I found that there is no search help assigned for that field.
I have tried using AT Selection-screenON VALUE-REQUEST and Matchcode Object .
However, Matchcode Object requests for standard search help name.
On value-request assign shelp only for the lower linit, but on pressing F4, gives no values found.
Tried using  the FM F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST also. But this is for the POV event.
Could anyone please suggest a solution for this problem?

    Hi,
As you are using this Z search help in select options there is no way of interfering with standard SAP table.
    You can declare it as:
Select-options QNAME for TQRFCOUT-QNAME matchcode object <Z search help name>.

  • Issue in elementary search help.

    Hi,
Facing some issue on Attaching search help directly to the screen Fields.
    I have a requirement that
1> Based on a screen field, I have to filter F4 for the other fields.
2> I have to populate 2 screen elements at the same time.
    Like:
In my transaction i have 3 fields :
    1> PA0001-WERKS : Personnel area.
    2> PA0001-PERNR : Personnel number
    3> PA0001-ENAME : Employee name.
All 3 have been defined as Dictionary fields on the screen.
Now PA0001-WERKS has its on search help and i use that to select the WERKS.
Then i have to create a search help that takes this as the input and gives me a hit list showing all the personnel number ( and there name) in PA0001 table based on the screen field PA0001-werks.
When i do F4 on say Pa0001-pernr field: a hit list showing all the personnel number ( and there name) in PA0001 table.
When i select a row both PA0001-pernr and PA0001-ENAME should be filled in the screen.
    Solution that i tried:
I created a elementary seach help ZSEL_PER and had the PA0001 as the selection table and had the 3 fields as the parameters:
    1> WERKS as input
2> PERNR and ENAME as output.
Then i attached the search help to the srceen fields :
    1> PA0001-PERNR : Personnel number
    2> PA0001-ENAME : Employee name.
    Now ,
a> When i do F4 my data does not get restricted as per the WERKS on the screen.
b> When i select a row both the fields on the screen dont get populated, only the field on which i did F4 ( that too always with the colomn 1 only of the hit list )..
Is this possible with elementary search help and if yes then how ? what am i doing wrong...
    Thanks, Ad.

Can any one tell me how to attach a search help in a particular field in a screen.

    Thanks in Advance
    Regards,

    Hi Priya,
In the Screen Layout, Double click on the field on which you wish to attach the search help.
In the properties window you can specify the search help for that field.
Search help for Material No. is MAT1.
You can find it in the Table structure (SE11) , "Entry help/check" tab.

  • Attaching Search helps dynamically to an attribute

    Hi ,
I have a requirement where I would like to attach search help to an attribute dynamically in WD ABAP .
Is it possible to attach a search help with respect to some condition dynamically at runtime .
    Best Regards
    Sid

    Hi Thomas,
    My scenario is as follows:
I have a table control with around 5 columns. The first column has a F4, based on the value selected there the F4 attached to the second column needs to change dynamically. Eg: Initially the F4 attached initially is /kyk/h_ctr and then it should get changed to /kyk/h_order.
These columns are mapped to Component Controller attributes.
Based on your reply yesterday I implemented the same in one of my view methods. The value does get changed but it doesn't reflect in the front-end, it still shows the initially attached F4 instead of the new one. What else do I need to do?

  • Hi how to attach search help to a field

    hi all,
how to attach search help to a field.

    hi
    <b>Attaching a search help to a field</b>
A search help can influence the behavior of a field when the input help is called. The search help must be assigned to the field in order to do this. You have the following options for this assignment:
Attach search help to a data element / table or structure field / screen field / check table.
Conventionally search helps are attached to table fields or data elements. We shall see the same.
    <b>Attaching a search help to a table field</b>
Choose the field name, click on search help tab and
provide the name of the search help.
A search help is attached to a field of a table or structure in the maintenance transaction for this table/structure, analogously to attaching to a table. You must assign the interface parameters of the search help to any fields of the table/structure. The search field must be assigned to an EXPORT parameter of the search help at this time.
Attach the search help to the table field
The search help ZSTRAVELAG_NAME is therefore directly attached to the field AGENCYNUM of table ZSTRAVELAG.
    <b>Attaching a search help to a data element</b>
Provide the search help name and the parameter name
under the further characteristics tab of the data element.
If the input help of a field is defined by its data element, no further screen fields can be used in the input help.
Also note that the input F4 help would be available wherever the data element is used.
    <b>Attaching a search help to a screen element</b>
A search help can be directly assigned to a screen field in two ways.
The name of the search help must be entered in the Screen Painter in the Attributes for the field in the field Search help.
The name of the search help can be defined for selection screens in ABAP reports in the PARAMETERS or SELECT-OPTIONS statement directly following the supplement MATCHCODE OBJECT.
However, input help is only available for this particular screen.
In this case, the search help is only available for this screen.

  • Attaching Search Help to Standard Field

    Hi,
In QAPP table, i want to attach customized Search Help to USERN2 field. So i take access key for that data element but still it's not modifiable mode.
so can you please tell me how to attach search help to that field.
    Regards,
    Pushkar.

    Hi,
Goto to the table QAPP, goto the entry help/check tab and in that keep the cursor on the field USERN2 and press the search help button below the tab and you can insert the search help only if you have the access key to changes.
    Reward if useful.

    Hi,
How i can attach a search help to a parameter or select option field in selection screen?.
    Regards.

    Hi Brinda,
In my previous program, the second parameter doesn't have a search help. When any value is selected from the search help of first parameter  , the corresponding value of second parameter will be displayed.
Just check this program for understanding more about search helps. In this program both the fields will have search helps.

  • Attach Search Help to Context Attribute (WD ABAP)

    Hi,
I'm fairly new to the ABAP WD technology. After I've worked out the provided tutorials I'am now encountered a problem on attaching a search help to an context attribute.
The search help I would like to use has several exporting fields. Is there a possibility to dertermine which exporting field of the search help should be bound to the context attribute? As far as I recognized the system behavior it is every time the first exporting field.
    Thanks in advance and regards,
    Matthias

    Hi Matthias,
It works the same as of within the good old Dynpro. If you use a structure and put (at least) the desired fields inside and attach that structure to the context node, the values of the exporting fields should be moved back properly.
    Best regards,
    Thomas

I'm a screen where i have imported the structure from DDIC into the context of the view.
The issue I'm facing is how to attach a search help for a particular element of structure.
    Example: Z_structure:
                          name
                          Id

Here i have a created search help for city that is "z_city_srhp" in DDIC.
please provide a solution how to attach this search help to city.
    Thanks in Advance,

    HI,
IN the context select the CITY attribute.
Properties will be diplsayed. Select dictionary search help and give the seach help name.

    Hai  Saslove,
I think Problem Lies In this Area When U r Creating   Search Helps.
    Import and Export Parameters
When an input help is called, the entries that the user already made in the input template are taken into consideration. For example, if a user calls the input help for the flight number and already specified the carrier, of course only the numbers of flights of this carrier should be offered.
On the other hand, if the user selects one row of the hit list, more than one field of the input template might have to be filled with data from the selected row of the hit list. For example, if the flight number is obtained from the hit list, the city of departure and the destination should also be returned in the screen template.
The interface of a search help defines the context data that can be used in the input help and the data that can be returned in the input template.
A parameter of a search help can be classified as:
Import parameters: Parameters with which context information from the processed input template (screen) may be copied to the help process.
Export parameters: Parameters with which values from the hit list may be returned to the input template.
A parameter can simultaneously be an input and an export parameter. A search help can also contain parameters that are neither import nor export parameters. Such parameters could be required for the internal input help process, for example.
When you attach a search help, you must define where the import parameters of the search help get their values from and the fields in which the contents of the export parameters are returned. See also Value Transport for Input Helps.
    Regards.
    Eshwar.

elementary search help or collective search help?
    thanks & regards in advance,
    vsnl.

    Hi,
    Input Help on the Screen
Within the Screen Painter, you can define two types of input help:
    1. The FIELD statement with one of the additions VALUES or SELECT.
    2. Linking a search help directly to a screen field.
If you link a search help directly to a screen field, it overrides the additions of the FIELD
statement. However, the input check [Page 581] functions of the FIELD statement remain
    unaffected.
    Input Help in Flow Logic
The following input help methods are obsolete and should not be used. They are still supported
    for compatibility reasons.
In the screen flow logic, you can specify a value list for a screen field <f> as follows:
    FIELD <f> VALUES (<val1>, <val2>,...).
The value list contains a series of single values <vali>. The NOT and BETWEEN additions for the
input check [Page 581] are not appropriate for input help.
You can also create a value list by accessing a database table as follows:
    FIELD <f> SELECT *
    FROM <dbtab>
    WHERE <k1> = <f1> AND <k2> = <f2> AND...
In the WHERE condition, the fields of the primary key <ki> of the database table <dbtab> are
checked against the screen fields <fi>. The WHENEVER addition, used with input checks [Page
581], is not necessary for input help.
If you have used a ABAP Dictionary reference for field <f>, the selection and the hit list formatting
may be affected by any check table attached to the field.
    Attaching a Search Help
Search helps from the ABAP Dictionary can be attached to a screen field [Ext.]. To do this, enter
the name of the search help in the corresponding field in the attributes of the screen field in the
Screen Painter. This assigns the first parameter of the search help to the screen field. It is only
possible to place a value from the hit list onto the screen.
    Input help on a screen.
    REPORT DEMO_DYNPRO_F4_HELP_DYNPRO MESSAGE-ID AT.
    DATA: CARRIER(3) TYPE C,
    CONNECTION(4) TYPE C.
    CALL SCREEN 100.
    MODULE CANCEL INPUT.
    LEAVE PROGRAM.
    ENDMODULE.
The next screen (statically defined) for screen 100 is itself. It has the following layout:
    602 April 2001
    Cancel
    Airline
    Flight number
    Screen field with search help
Input help in the flow logic
The input fields have been adopted from the program fields CARRIER and
CONNECTION. The function code of the pushbutton is CANCEL, with function type
    E. The search help DEMO_F4_DE with the search help parameter CARRID is
assigned to the screen field CARRIER. The search help uses the database table
    SCARR.
The screen flow logic is as follows:
    PROCESS BEFORE OUTPUT.
    PROCESS AFTER INPUT.
    MODULE CANCEL AT EXIT-COMMAND.
    FIELD CARRIER VALUES ('AA', 'LH').
    FIELD CONNECTION SELECT *
    FROM SPFLI
    WHERE CARRID = CARRIER
    AND CONNID = CONNECTION.
When the user chooses the input help for the individual fields, the following input
    help is displayed:
For the Airline field, the search help displays the names of the airlines and places the airline
code in the input field for the chosen line. If the airline code is not one of those listed in the
VALUES list of the screen flow logic, the input check triggers an error message in the PAI
event. So the search help overrides the VALUES addition for the input help, but not for the
input checks. This is therefore not an appropriate place to use the VALUE addition.
For the Flight number field, the flow logic displays the selected entries from the database
table SPFLI and places the selected line in the input field.
