Attach Search Help to Context Attribute (WD ABAP)

Hi,
I'm fairly new to the ABAP WD technology. After I've worked out the provided tutorials I'am now encountered a problem on attaching a search help to an context attribute.
The search help I would like to use has several exporting fields. Is there a possibility to dertermine which exporting field of the search help should be bound to the context attribute? As far as I recognized the system behavior it is every time the first exporting field.
Thanks in advance and regards,
Matthias

Hi Matthias,
It works the same as of within the good old Dynpro. If you use a structure and put (at least) the desired fields inside and attach that structure to the context node, the values of the exporting fields should be moved back properly.
Best regards,
Thomas

  • Attaching Search helps dynamically to an attribute

    Hi ,
I have a requirement where I would like to attach search help to an attribute dynamically in WD ABAP .
Is it possible to attach a search help with respect to some condition dynamically at runtime .
    Best Regards
    Sid

    Hi Thomas,
    My scenario is as follows:
I have a table control with around 5 columns. The first column has a F4, based on the value selected there the F4 attached to the second column needs to change dynamically. Eg: Initially the F4 attached initially is /kyk/h_ctr and then it should get changed to /kyk/h_order.
These columns are mapped to Component Controller attributes.
Based on your reply yesterday I implemented the same in one of my view methods. The value does get changed but it doesn't reflect in the front-end, it still shows the initially attached F4 instead of the new one. What else do I need to do?

  • Hi how to attach search help to a field

    hi all,
how to attach search help to a field.

    hi
    <b>Attaching a search help to a field</b>
A search help can influence the behavior of a field when the input help is called. The search help must be assigned to the field in order to do this. You have the following options for this assignment:
Attach search help to a data element / table or structure field / screen field / check table.
Conventionally search helps are attached to table fields or data elements. We shall see the same.
    <b>Attaching a search help to a table field</b>
Choose the field name, click on search help tab and
provide the name of the search help.
A search help is attached to a field of a table or structure in the maintenance transaction for this table/structure, analogously to attaching to a table. You must assign the interface parameters of the search help to any fields of the table/structure. The search field must be assigned to an EXPORT parameter of the search help at this time.
Attach the search help to the table field
The search help ZSTRAVELAG_NAME is therefore directly attached to the field AGENCYNUM of table ZSTRAVELAG.
    <b>Attaching a search help to a data element</b>
Provide the search help name and the parameter name
under the further characteristics tab of the data element.
If the input help of a field is defined by its data element, no further screen fields can be used in the input help.
Also note that the input F4 help would be available wherever the data element is used.
    <b>Attaching a search help to a screen element</b>
A search help can be directly assigned to a screen field in two ways.
The name of the search help must be entered in the Screen Painter in the Attributes for the field in the field Search help.
The name of the search help can be defined for selection screens in ABAP reports in the PARAMETERS or SELECT-OPTIONS statement directly following the supplement MATCHCODE OBJECT.
However, input help is only available for this particular screen.
In this case, the search help is only available for this screen.

Rewards for helpful answers are sure!!
    Regards,
    Shweta

    Hi Shweta,
    Check this matter.
    There are 3 ways:
1)In the PAI of the screen, add a module Process on value request. For example:
    PROCESS AFTER INPUT.
    MODULE USER_COMMAND_100.
    PROCESS ON VALUE-REQUEST.
    FIELD field_name MODULE value_request_for_field_name.
*field_name is the field for which you require search help.
In the Module value_request_for_field_name call this function 'F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST'.
2)The above procedure can be used if the field you have defined doesnt have an existing search help.If it already has search help and the field in the screen is taken from the dictionary, then in the attributes,u can check from from dictionary under the dictionary tab.
3)A manual search help can also be created in the se11 transaction by clicking on the search help radio button and giving the table and field name for which search help is required.
    Hope this resolves your query.

  • Attaching Search Help to a field

    HI All,
Can anybody please tell me how to attach search help to a particular field??
    Thanks.

    hi
    good
Attaching to a Table Field or Structure Field
The search help can be used by all screen fields that refer to the table field or structure field. The search help parameters and the fields of the table or structure must be assigned to one other in this type of attachment.
If an export parameter of the search help is assigned to a table field, the contents of this parameter are returned to the corresponding screen field as soon as the user has selected a line of the hit list in the input help. If an import parameter of the search help is assigned to a table field, the field contents are used for the value selection (see Value Transport for the Input Help).
Normally some parameters of the search help cannot be assigned to a table field. The assignment is thus left open for some search help parameters. A constant or any other field that is searched for in the module pool when the input help is called can also be assigned to a search help parameter.

  • How to attach search help in field BEDNR in table EKPO

    Hello, Experts!!!
I have a problem in attaching Search Help in field BEDNR in table EKPO.
Can anyone share something about this.. I've been dwelling on this for some time now,
but still wasn't able to find a solution.
Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.
    Thank you!!!
    Ellainne22

    Hi,
I don't think you can directly link any search help with BEDNR without modification. If a search help was already linked, we could have gone for append search help. But in this case, nothing is there. So the options would be,
see whether you can insert any search help through enhancements in the screens..You have to do it in every screen then.
Other option is create a database view, & replace the dataelement with your own with a search help. You can refer this view after that.
or go for modification & change the dataelement.

    Hi Jaya,
    1. Create a search help using SE11.
    2. Include this search help in the field of table in SE11. There is a tab in the table defination where you can specify the search help.
Even you can specify search help at data element level, screen field level.

  • Search Help for node attribute.

    Hi experts
I create a field for user enter some date.
If a create an attribute DATE (type date) in COMPONENTCONTROLLER , it appears already with values assigned for search help:
    Determined Input Help = CALENDAR
Type of Input Help  =     Calendar help
So when i bind this attribute with the Layout field , the field has format of date and appers with match code for select the date.
But if i create the attribute DATE (type date) inside a node , it appears without these values 'Determined Input Help' and 'Type of Input Help' both empty (and these are protected)  so when i bind the attribute with the Layout field, the field appears without date format and without match code for select a date from calendar.
Does somebody can help me please about How can i attach or assign the input help to an attribute inside a node ?
    Regards
    Frank

    Hi
Please let me try to explain:
I have two fields DATE in COMPCONTROLLER,  one created directly like attribute in context   and other created inside a node GLOBAL_DATA:
    COMPONENTCONTROLLER.CONTEXT:   Attribute   DATE  (type d)
COMPONENTCONTROLLER.CONTEXT:   Node  GLOBAL_DATA  inside with attribute   DATE  (type d)
And i have a view with a field for user enter the date,  type INPUT_FIELD:     V_DATE
    a)  when i bind  V_DATE    with   DATE  ,  it appears with date format and match code for calendar.
    b)  when i bind  V_DATE    with   GLOBAL_DATA-DATE,  it appears without format date and without match code for calendar.
    I see since propertys in context  DATE has assigned input help and  GLOBAL_DATA-DATE has not assigned input help ;
but i already found that even i assigned  type  'D' to both fields ; for some reason attribute DATE appears like type 'D'  , and   GLOBAL_DATE-DATE  appears like  type 'DATE' (no 'D')  and that is the reasonwhy it appears without input help.
I created again GLOBAL_DATE-DATE with  type  'D'  (no type 'DATE') and it works.   I hope i explained.
    Thanks a lot

  • About Running Remote Search Helps in SRM via Webdynpro ABAP

    Hi there,
I am having troubles trying to implement an input help for a custom field in the standard Shopping Cart Portal page for item level.
I would like to implement the same input help used in field Network of Activities, but as I can see in WDA component '/SAPSRM/WDC_UI_DO_ACC', it seems to use another component in order to run a remote Search Help (I assume it is an original search help from PS system).
Does anybody know how to use this backend search help WDA Component? (/SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH)
I haven´t found any information regarding that :S.
Another option would be to create a new RFC FM in PS returning the expected values, and use these entries to build a list value selector associated to the corresponding context attribute (This is not what I would like...)
    Thanks in advance!

    Figured it out.
/SAPSRM/WDC_UI_BACKEND_SH is a 'freely programmed' search help used in SRM.
    1. Add this helpview (HV) component usage to your component controller, and view controller.
    2. Map HV SELECTION context to your view
    3. Modify the context attribute you want backend searchhelp to 'freely programmed', and select the component usage created in step above (note this is done dynamically in SAP code, b/c attribute is defined as dictionary search help in SAP components) -- this took a bit to figure out.
    4. IMPORTANT: Give your context attributes the SAME NAME (COST_CTR in my case) as those in structure /SAPSRM/S_CH_WD_MAP_ACC (how obvious was that)
    5. IMPORTANT: Set your LOGSYS in /SAPSRM/CL_PDO_VALHELP_FACTORY class - love those those factories (tic)
DATA: lo_helper TYPE REF TO /SAPSRM/IF_PDO_ACCT_ASSGT_HLPR,
    CALL METHOD /SAPSRM/CL_PDO_VALHELP_FACTORY=>GET_ACCT_ASSGT_HELPER
    RECEIVING
    RO_ACC_ASSGT_HELPER = lo_helper.
    CALL METHOD lo_helper->set_searchhelp_control
    EXPORTING
    iv_logsys = ls_logsys-logsys.
    6. Now handle event DATA_SELECTED to get data from SELECTION, and move to your Context field.
How simple was that? Yikes. I should have just built a custom dictionary search help to RFC over and call the BAPI for Cost Center List.

  • Attaching search help to SCREEN FIELDS AND TABLE FIELDS

    Hello experts,
    Himanshu here.
Could you please explain how we can assign search Help to a screen field AND TABLE FIELDS in ABAP?
Please reply at the earliest,as we have some deliverables to be met
    Thanks

    Hi,
In the initial screen of the ABAP Dictionary, select object class Search help, enter the name of the search help and choose Create.
A dialog box appears in which you must select the type of search help.
Select Collective search help and choose .
The maintenance screen for collective search helps is displayed.
Enter an explanatory text in the field Short text.
You can for example find the search help at a later time using this short text.
In the Definition tab page enter the parameters of the collective search help.
Select the Imp flag if it is an import parameter. Select the Exp flag if it is an export parameter.
Define the types for the parameters of a collective search help by assigning a data element. Enter the name of the data element that describes the contents of the search help parameter in the Data element field.
You can assign the parameter a default value in the Default value field.
In exceptions it could be necessary to change the standard process defined by the search help. You can implement the deviation from the standard using a search help exit.
In this case enter the name of the search help exit in the corresponding field.
On the Included search helps tab page, define the search helps that you want to include in the collective search help.
You can include elementary search helps and collective search helps.
Use the Hide flag to control whether an included search help should appear in the dialog box for selecting the elementary search help. If the flag is set, the search help is not offered.
It makes sense to hide search help inclusions if one or more search paths in the standard system should not be used in a concrete R/3 System. Similarly, search help inclusions can also be already hidden in the standard system because they only can be used meaningfully in a few R/3 Systems. You have to cancel the flag in this case.
Position the cursor one after the other on each allocated search help and choose Parameter assignment.
In the next screen, enter the parameter names of the elementary search helps to which the corresponding parameters of the collective search help should be assigned in the field Reference parameter.
You can select the parameters contained in the included search help using the input help. Create a proposal for the assignment with Proposal.
    Save your entries.
A dialog box appears in which you have to assign a development class to the search help.
    Choose .
    Result
The collective search help is activated. You can find information about the activation flow in the activation log, which you can display with Utilities ® Activation log. If errors occurred when the collective search help was activated, the activation log is automatically displayed.
Do not forget to link the search help to a screen field. The search help attachment is not part of the search help definition; it is part of the object definition to which the search help is attached.
    regards,
    veeresh.
