Issues using 887 when authenticating with MER on a Fibre connection

Hello All
I've been battling for a week now to get the config correct for Cisco 887VA.
I understand Sky use MER to authenticate, however, in order to create the PPP connection, I am using PPPoE without passing any authentication, other than the username|password through option 61 (and vendor information on option 60).
I have Wiresharked the provided Sky router SR102 to obtain DHCP option 60 and 61 information and have entered these as hex values in the dialer interface.
I have also spoofed the SR102 MAC address on the dialer interface.
I have created a sub interface on e0, using dot1q to tag traffic to VLAN 101
I can indeed see traffic on interface e0.101 but the dialer receives NO ip address.
I can also see the modem is connected and in sync.
Am I correct in assuming the e0.101 interface is equivalent to the WAN connection on a seperate modem?

Just wondering if you managed to get anywhere with this, or just gave up? I'm a Sky Fibre user, sadly using the bundled "Sky Hub" (aptly named, as I consider "Layer 1 Network Hubs" to be just as gash as this ), and have battled with the MER DHCP-based authentication before.
Previously, I was experimenting using a Cisco Linksys E2400 (or E4200, I forget) running Tomato USB Firmware and was getting frustrated with the hex settings.
I notice in your configs you posted the following strings, which look like they are trying to send the DHCP Vendor ID/Options that MER needs:

For your specified <<HEX STRING>> were you also appending the necessary "0x3d" (61) to your custom-generated User+Pass hex (i.e. full string reads "0x3d<<USER+PASS HEX>>")?

issue is related to the user booking time against a task that was past the finish/end date listed in the Project Schedule.
To resolve the user needs to submit their time on a valid task that is still within the current reporting timeframe, or have the Project Manager
update the task in questions so that the finish/end dates are at or beyond the submission period and then republish the project. After that, the user should be able to go in and submit their timesheet with success.

Using the mac mini with a dial up internet connection

How do I go about using my mac mini with a dial up internet connection? I am soon to be moving to a rural area and dial up will be my only internet option. Please be very specific in your answer as I am not a very tech savvy fellow. Thank you for your help.

Very hard to find one now, but it has the advantage that it connects to the ethernet ports of up to two computers, rather than using a less reliable usb connection.

Issues using WCF RIA Service with CRM Odata endpoint

We are here trying to build up a simple mock-up with LS and Dynamics Crm and use it as potential platform for enterprise solutions. When we add the datasource(CRM
odata endpoint) on the Server project everything goes well, we can bind html components with data on the screens, get access to the context through javascript, etc. We are trying to go a bit forward in the architecture, we want to have a server-side layer
hosting our business logic (WCF RIA Service layer), and we used Michael´s example as base (great post BTW):

In this case, loading the context fails (ContextData Object), we are trying to create that object exactly as the platform does but apparently the connection
string is not valid (?). This is the code, pretty much the same that MIchael has in his example and the same (apparently) that the platform uses internally:

The connection string that is in my article (that you are trying to adapt for your situation) is for a connection to a Entity Framework data context. It is not for an OData source. I regret that I do not have any good examples :(

Usually i would say, that I use the third statement and the world is in order. BUT I'm working on a BI project with a tool called Business Objects and it generates SQL, so my hands are bound and I can't make this tool to generate the SQL as a subselect.

Why is the second statement sooo much slower than the third?
and
Howcan I force the optimizer to do whatever he is doing to make the third statement so fast?
I would really appreciate some help on this really weird issue.

Using j_security_check container authentication with JSF

After quite a bit of looking around, we resorted to using a plain login JSP page with a ServletFilter on j_security_check to have container managed authentication in our JSF based web-site using IBM Websphere 5.1
So, basically every other page but the login page is JSF and just the login page is simple JSP with j_username & j_password.
Recently, I started looking in the direction of trying to directly/programmatically invoke j_security_check using URLConnection object. There are various discussions on this on google groups:

Issues w/ color when printing with a layered background

Hello,
I have designed a page in Illustrator that was intended for the web, and now the company wants print outs for a trade show.
I have a multi-layered background, and when printing off a laser printer, the greys are awful and streaky. I have a feeling it's because I've got dark grey layered over light grey over green (see pic), but what can I do to fix it? The client wants the background this way, but I'm not sure about the mechanics of it, I just know that it looks awful when printed.

It's going to be tough to match the RGB work you've done for the web and laser printers are a challenge. You might have to rebuild the file or convert the colors to CMYK. The grays will probably be the easy part ( 20%, 45% ), but the dark greenish blue will have to be remixed ( i.e., 100C, 18.5M, 0Y, 51K ). I think you could use the existing elements, but you might have to expand them or divide them. You should avoid layering or overlaying, just work with a flattened .ai file and see if that prints any better. Raster elements, transparency, and layering effects are better handled via a Postscript 3 RIP + PRINTER. If your laser is non-postscript and does not have a RIP ( raster image processor ), then the color will be problematic. If you will be printing the sheets for the tradeshow using the laser, then whatever you mix will be able to be proofed ( by eye, I assume ) internally. If you go outside and use a Kinkos or something, then color should be proofed using a contract proofer at your local prepress shop before sending it out to be printed.

Working Lync 2013 environment (gradually adding functionality) consisting of 2 FE servers, Persistent Chat Server, Web Apps server, Edge Server, Reverse Proxy Server (IIS 8.5/ARR 3.0), SQL Server.
Set up a fresh Windows 2012 R2 with IIS 8.5, installed ARR 3.0 and followed along this
TechNet article.
So far so good, external clients (incl. mobile phone apps) can all connect.
Now trying to add Web Apps to the reverse proxy, which is slightly different from the others by not forwarding 80/8080 and 443/4443, but just 80 and 443 to internal Web Apps server.
After creating the server farm/URL rewrite, browsing to the webapps.FQDN/hosting/discovery ends up with a 404 error (instead of XML, which is shown when try from the LAN).
After moving this rewrite rule to the top, it started working, but now my lyncdiscover.FQDN stops working.
Ofcourse moving the webapps rule down restores the lyncdiscover.
Any ideas? (everything setup as described in above mentioned TechNet article, so using wildcards. Tried fiddling around with webext.* and lyncdiscover.* and so, but no luck. (I'm completely new to ARR)

Can you confirm that for each URL Rewrite Rule, you have an {http_host} record that matches something like webext.* as you referenced above and as seen in step 15 here:

It might help if you posted a screenshot of your URL rewrite rules.

Issues using/uninstall/installing itunes with vista

I recently purchaed a computer with vista. Everything was fine with my computer and itunes for a while and then all of a sudden I received a message (through my desktop) that an iTunes file was currupt. Now when I try and open iTunes I get the following message:
Error writing to file C:\ProgramFiles\iTunes\ITDetector.ocx Verify that you have access to that directory.
iTunes won't open after this.
I have tried to uninstall iTunes (which it will not do) and I recieve this message:
The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing the package. This may indicate a program with this package. Error code is 2330.
When I try and install iTunes 7.2 I get the following message as well and the installation stops:
Unable to install the GEAR driver set at this time. THe GEARAspiWDM service use bythe GEAR driver set is scheduled to be deleted duringthe next system reboot. please reboot the system and run iTunes again.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can either repair iTunes or uninstall and then reinstall a working version? I appreciate the help,it has been a little frustrating.

Just doublechecking something. Were you installing the version 7.3.0.54 that came out just yesterday, or an earlier version?
If it was an earlier version, perhaps try a 7.3.0.54 install to see if that goes through any better. Here's a link through to that installer:

So I went through the Manual and the Forum.
There is no German Forum so WENN means IF and WAHR means TRUE;
If I enter this function:
=WENN(G6=WAHR;"=Blatt 3 :: Tabelle 1 :: B6";"nix")
it respondes in case of RIGHT the string "Blatt 3 :: Tabelle 1 :: B6"
but should take the value (Date in this case)! If i use just
=Blatt 3 :: Tabelle 1 :: B6
whitout when function,
it responses fine the Date of the refered sheet respective matrix respective cell, in this case 05.01.2006 (whatever:)
Has anyone a clue what´s going on ??

Is roaming transparent to users when authenticating with LEAP or EAP-TLS?

We are planning the installation of a number of Access Points with LEAP authentication to ACS. We want to know upfront whether the users have to reautenticate everytime they roam from one Access Point to another. Is it the same with EAP-TLS or EAP-TTLS?

Your users will have to re-authenticate to each AP but it happens automaticaly throught the client. IF all of your APs are on the same segment/subnet you shouldn't have a problem.

I still need to use AE CS4 for some plug-ins that haven't made the jump to 64-bit. Are there any features or problems using Photoshop and Illustrator CS5 created files?

Not that I know. Luckily, AE doesn't dig deep into these files and only uses data it can really understand and has understood for a few versions. I would advise against any crazy experiments with Photoshop 3D, though. This seems to be busted in a variety of ways with back and forward compatibility within PS itself and then in turn affecting AE.

How do use ADF when scanning with HP 8600

I am trying to use the automatic document feeder to scan mulitple single sided pages from the "create pdf" menu in adobe acrobat pro. I've tried mulitple different settings, but my HP Oficejet Pro 8600 Plus scanner will only scan from the flatbed. How do I get it to scan from the ADF?

Using TV as display with mini dvi and hdmi connections

I want to use my flat screen tv as a display for my airbook. I have a mini dvi to hdmi connector (supplied with my mac) and an hdmi cable. When I connect, I can see my wallpaper on the tv and my cursor but nothing else. I can move the cursor on the tv with the trackpad on my mac but there are no icons, toolbars etc. What am I doing wrong and can anyone help?

If you want to see your desktop (icons, menus, etc.) you need to go into Apple Menu: System Preferences -> Displays and select "Mirror Display" under the Arrangement tab. There is also an option that allows you to move the menu bar over to the external display.

Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
