Itouch 4th gen won't turn on or sync to comp, no thread has helped so far

Hey there, no other thread has helped so far, no combination of holding power and home buttons has worked. Computer does not recognize it, it will not charge, completely black screen. Was not dropped or had anything spilled on it. Please assist!

Ah yeah I guess I have no choice but to go into an Apple store, calling Apple support didn't help.

  • My iTouch 4th Gen won't turn on. It won't charge. I tried doing the "home" + "power/sleep" button. And before my itouch shuts off, it's battery power level is low.

My itouch won't turn on, i tried the "home" +  "power button and still no response from the itouch. also i know that my battery was low when it turned off. I tried charging it on my desktop or in my usb charger. still no response from my itouch. it is 4th Gen, it has the latest software and it is only two months old.

Try letting it charge for a little while longer.  Then try another hard reset.  Only this time hold those two buttons together anywhere from 10 seconds to a minute.  Any luck there?
Otherwise, see the Will not power on section of this Apple support document.

  • Nano (4th gen) won't turn on after reseting and I need itunes support

A couple of weeks ago, my family computer crashed when we were trying to install a sercurity program. The computer company sent us a disk to bring the computer back to its original state. (This was supposed to make the computer be like it just came from the factory when we first got it) The disks didn't work and we sent it to a local computer repair center where they fix stuff like this.
So anyways, now that the computer is back to when we first got it, I'm afraid that if I downlaod itunes, sign into my account, and plug my ipod into the computer that all my songs and PURCHASED songs will disappear and I will be out more than $200.
Now it's Oct. 30th and my ipod will not come out of sleep for anything. I've tried all of the things they offer on Apple's support webpage. I plugged it into my wall adapter and it's making a funny buzzing noise.
Please help me with these 2 issues I'm having.
    Thanks so much.

My 4th Gen iPod Nano won't turn on once it is off the USB cable. If it is connected to the iMac (iTunes 10.1 (54)) it works perfectly well (synchronizes, plays music). Have tried to reset it (holding the Menu and Center buttons) and to reset it to its original settings (current SW version is 1.0.4) and it still wont work.
    Any suggestions?

  • My iPod 4th gen won't turn on

My moms iPod 4th generation 8 gb won't turn on. She was gone on a trip and it was low on battery and went dead so she plugged it in all night and the next morning it would not turn on. This was over a week ago I've plugged it In to a computer and nothing happened. I've tried holding the home and power button various times and nothing happened. I haven't tried resetting it yet but I will if I absolutely have too. Also she thinks maybe the wall pluggin wasn't working correctly? Any ideas? Please help me out. Also their is no apple store anywhere near me so that's not really an option. She doesn't have the newest iOS either it's 6 point something don't know exactly.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Itouch 4th gen won't fully load msn

My 4th gen iTouch will not fully load MSN Mobile page, only about 3/4 and kicks me back to the home screen. When I am able to bring up MSN(rare occasion) my weather location is wrong and I can not change it. MSN always switches it back and it will not let delete the wrong location.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>Safari and Clear History, Data and Cookies
    - Try powering off and then back on your router
Does the Map app show the iPod correct location? If not then weaher will not either
    - Try another browser like the free Chrome browser
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • My Ipod Touch (4th gen) Won't turn on. Help!

Okay, so I did that thing everyone said to do. I connected it to Itunes, held the Power and Home button at the same time for 10-15 seconds. But it won't work!!!!! And, my Ipod won't show up on my computer... at all! I think it might be the battery, but I'm not sure.
Help, anyone? Please? This has been going on for months. I even bought a new cord, and it worked for about a week but now it is just dead. It won't turn on or anything.. and it's not the cord. The cord still works to charge other Ipods.
    HELP??
    I miss my Ipod :[

Charge it overnight with a known good charger.  USB ports are notoriously bad.  Hopefully you have an Apple wall-mount charger.
If that does not resolve the situation, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • Sometimes my iPod shuffle (4th gen) won't turn on. Though the battery is fully charged. I usually connect my iPod to the mac so it will turn on. Why is that?

If i not use my ipod for a times, it will turn off automatically and won't turn on. Please give the answer. My ipod is new.

    - Connect the iPod to your computer and try to make a backup
iOS: How to back up and restore your content
    - Next reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
and try making a backup again. If you can't then there is no way of getting the info off the iPod unless data recovery company can do it. Not cheap.
    - If photos are in an existing iPod backup (iTune>Preferences>Devices  for iTunes backup or an iCloud backu) then restore from that backup. See the restore topic of:
    iOS: How to back up
    - If you used PhotoStream then try getting them from your PhotoStream. See that topic of:

  • ITouch 4th gen stuck on USB port pointing to iTunes symbol...PLEASE help me

This evening I connected my iTouch to my computer so I could add some music to it. I got a message saying that the "software required for communicating with ipods and mobile was not installed correctly. do you want iTunes to repair this for you?" But when I click yes, this message appears, "software required for communicating with ipods and mobile could not be repaired. try uninstalling iTunes if you wish to use these devices." So I tried that, and a message pops up saying that my windows installer service wasn't working right. I've been sitting at my computer for a good six hours now, and it's really frustrating me. I can't figure out what is wrong. I thought maybe it was just my computer...but I plugged it into my laptop, and I can't even restore my iTouch to factory settings. It will do the complete download, then when it's finished, it will say my network wasn't connected or something along those lines, however, my network is working just fine. Please please please..help me? I literally live with my iTouch attached to my hip because music is my entire life, and I don't have it...I go completely nuts...I'm cranky and just not a good person. I would appreciate your help...You'll be doing me such a big favor.

    - Not infrequently do uses get timeout errors when download the update fill. What has helped some users was to disable security software on the computer and, for me at least, reboot your router and modem.

  • My iPod touch 4th gen won't turn on.  It's fully charged, but it is stuck with a spinning wheel.

Occasionally it lights up (slowly, with a flash of bright light) to the apple screen, and then reverts to the wheel. I've tried pressing the home and power buttons for 20 seconds, which won't work.  It does connect to iTunes, and I'm trying to restore it at the moment, but it keeps saying "network connection timed out". (The operating system is iOS 5.1.1 because I haven't had the space on my iPod to update the software). Thanks for any help you can give!

  • My iPod touch (4th gen) won't turn back on

I tried unlocking my iPod this afternoon, when it decided to randomly shut off, even though it wasn't on 20% battery, or anything. When I tried plugging it in though, I saw that it wasn't charging. I plugged it in to my computer, went into iTunes to see if anything was happening, and saw that my iPod wasn't being recognized by my computer, unless it entered recovery mode, and even then, it only stayed connected for a couple seconds.
So, in a nutshell, the thing turned off, won't charge, and refuses to go into recovery mode. I also happen to not live too close to an apple store, so I can't get much help from them.

  • My iPod touch 4th Gen won't turn on!

So I had something stuck in the headphone jack, and i got it out with a bit of prodding from a pin. Now, when i try to turn on my iPod touch, the screen remains black. When I plug it in, the apple logo will appear for about 3 seconds and then the screen will go black again (it repeats this). Is there anything i can do or do I have to get an exchange from apple?

It has a one-year warranty, although the warranty covers failure caused by a manufacturing defect, not accidental damage.
Also, this forum category is about the iPod shuffle, not touch.  So I'll request that your topic be moved to here
    https://discussions.apple.com/community/ipod/ipod_touch
But in the meantime, did you try to do a Reset.  This is the procedure for an iPod touch.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
Since your iPod touch does not start up properly, do the part for Reset.  If that does not help, try the same thing while the iPod is connected to power (either to your computer's USB port or a power adapter).

  • How can i fix my itouch 4th gen when it turns on and off again ?

it keeps on turning on and off.. when the apple logo appears after 10 seconds it will off and on

You can try a reset; a restore to a backup; and then a restore to factory settings.  If that does not work, you will need to replace the screen.  To attempt to do it yourself, get instructions and link to screen purchase by Googling "replace ipod touch screen."  Note that if you are unsuccessful in the DIY, Apple will not do an out-of-warranty exchange for $99 ($199 for a 64gb, 4G) which is one of your other options.

  • Itouch 4th gen won't play digital copy of movie

I downloaded my first digital copy of a movie, following the instructions and using the serial number provided. It shows in my library, and I can watch on itunes. I then transferred it to my itouch, and it appears on my playlist, but when I try to play it, it says it's an "unsupported format".
I've been trying to find a solution, and 'help' advised to "create a ipod or iphone version" in itunes (through 'Advanced'), but this option is greyed out.
I'd appreciate any help and advice that anyone can provide to sort this out.
    Thanks!

    Hello cj pup,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Does the movie still play alright in iTunes? What format is it in? Have you double checked to make sure it wasn't in HD instead of SD?
If the video is in High Definition, check to see if it came with a Standard Definition copy as well and if it did, go ahead and sync that one to your iPod. Otherwise, I'm afraid there isn't much else you can do.

  • IPod touch 4th gen won't turn on after screen replacement?

I took apart the iPod about 4-5 days before I put the new screen on it, and I don't remember if I turned it off before removing the screen. I got the screen and I have been working on it since Thursday the 23.. It will not turn on and I am getting frustrated. I have tried the "Locate the 3.7v and ground it." thing.. It sparked once, I connected it to the power and it didn't turn on either. Please any help, anything that helps please! Thanks in advance.
Also, my computer does not read the iPod when it is plugged in. The iPod acts as if its turned off but doesn't turn on at all.. Any help please! Thanks!

Take it apart and make sure that all connections are correctly made and that there are not any broken conductors in any ribbon cables.
