Itouch bluetooth TMR-BT8IP compatability

Sony made a bluetooth transmitter specifically for the ipod. it's model number is (TMR-BT8IP). This seems like a nifty device if you have an itouch and want to listen to music wirelessly. However, I want to know if what I will do would work.
I recently got the "fring" app. This allows one to use SIP and SKYPE for Voip phone. I was wondering if a cellular wireless bluetooth headset might connect to the Sony wireless transmitter so that I could use it like a phone.
Any ideas? --I can find information on what the transmitter is compatible with, but there isn't any information on what it can't connect with, like a Motorola bluetooth headset.

itouch? Do you mean Apple's iPod touch?
If so, you're probably better off asking in one of the *iPod touch* forums, as that is where the *iPod touch* experts hang out that may be able to answer your question.

Um, is there any way that we can encourage apple to create software that would enable your touch to link up with your computer via wi-fi because otherwise, as you both agreed earlier, it is completely useless.
Um, no, I never agreed with any statements about either WiFi or BT being useless. I find both work very well on my Touch. In fact, I don't think anyone was discussing WiFi at all in this thread.
You can submit your feedback to Apple here:

  • Sony TMR-BT8iP Bluetooth adapter works on 3G - Confirmed

I attached my TMR-BT8iP to my 3G, and got the message it was unsupported, but ignored it. Turned it on, then turned on my Insignia Bluetooth Stereo headset, and voila! got stereo music thru the headset. I don't know how it will affect the already poor battery life, but at least it's one solution to Apple's poor implementation of the Bluetooth standard.

  • S9, TMR-BT8iP ????

So, being as I'm not the worlds best researcher. Can I take my newly purchased S9 headphones that don't work, and Get a Sony TMR-BT8iP and actually get my music, IN STEREO, and I don't have to take them back? (it was a gift from my kids). I didn't check first to see if this was yet another of the oddities of the apple world, that nothing works with other Manufacturers components......!!!

I found this post as well and followed the steps exactly and it simply doesn't work.
This issue is driving me crazy and unfortunately really tainting my impression fo Apple.
I have the iPhone 3G and the Motorola S9 headset. Needless to say I was appalled to find out this doesn’t work for stereo music listening out of the box. Absurd an inexcusable as this is, I got over it, and decided to shell out the extra money for one of the various bluetooth transmitters. I started with the Sony described as working above. I could get it to pair for phone calls and then for stereo, but I could never get it to answer a call when music was playing. The most I ever got was a stutter in rining when I tried to answer the call remotely from the headset. I read numerous blog posts and found a number that laid out specific steps, such as the one above, saying it worked great, but they all offered slightly different steps. I wonder if they left out the part where you have to lean your head just right, bend over right when you turn on/off this or that to get the iphone to do with an extra $60 device what it should have done out of the box.
I tried them all: pair the headset to the phone first, turn off the BT on the phone, turn off the headset, then turn on the headset and pair it to the transmitter. Others said pair to the transmitter then turn it off and pair to the phone. Others said push this or that for two seconds or three seconds. I could never get it to play stereo music and answer a call from the headset that comes in when music is playing.
Then I tried the motorola transmitter. Its instructions seem to anticipate this and indicated this would work. I followed the steps exactly and this time the headset would pair to the transmitter and yet the music would never play through the headset, it just played through the iphone speaker while it did respond to the headset controls (play, pause, etc.).
There was even a video of a guy showing it working with an iCombi transmitter: http://bluetoothlounge.com/reviews/motorola-s9-paired-with-iphone-through-icombi -a2dp-adapter/
Unfortunately, it seems that iCombi isn’t around anymore, or their web site shows press releases from 2005, Amazon shows their devices out of stock and no date for when they will be available, an Oakley no longer lists their products on their web site.
This is really absurd, I have spent hours on this. I feel like a monkey randomly trying minute variations on the process, turn this one on first, then this off next, then pair this, disable that, unpair this, etc. etc. Somehow the commercials showing the cool apple guy and nerd PC guy don’t seem to talk about any of this.
Does anyone know how to make this work? Is it possible there is some dependencie on firmware for the S9, or the transmitters or the new 2.2 OS?
Will someone please take hostages at Apple until this is resolved?

  • Sony TMR-BT8iP

i know there arent many of you out there, but for those who are using the Sony TMR-BT8iP bluetooth transmitter, i have one question:
since it draws power from the iphone itself, does it drastically affect the battery life?
    thanks in advance.

I don't use the product, however I would have to surmize that since it gets its power from the iPhone, that it would have to impact battery life in some way. As long as the transmitter is on, it would be using battery, but not knowing the specifications for the device, it is hard to say how much battery it uses. Once way to test that would be to use the phone from a full charge one day without the unit and check your battery usage. Then try another day from a full charge with the unit and check. That would give you some comparison to work with.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Itouch bluetooth

    Hi,
I have an ipod touch 8GB which I purchased recently. I would like to know is there any possiblilty that my Windows 7 installed laptop can be controlled using Ipod touch using a bluetooth.
My requirement is to control VLC player or any other media app in my laptop (Win 7 Installed) through Bluetooth using IPOD Touch.
Please clarify are there any free apps available in the market to do the same ?

There is a VLC Remote app but hat only works by wifi so does VLC Remco app.  I am not aware of any apps that work via BT.  The BT profiles on the iPod ae ver ylimited.

  • Bluetooth adapter for iTouch 2g

I recently bought a cheap bluetooth adapter off ebay for my iTouch 2g. It syncs up great with me S9's and my Oakler O ROKR's, but the big problem is I basically bought it for running and if I hardly nudge it at all it disconnects. I was wondering if any other runners out there have found a more "sturdy" bluetooth adapter. I have heard good things about the Sony TMR-BT8iP Bluetooth Adapter but I was hoping to find some first hand answers before I spend a bunch of money of dissatisfactory bluetooth adapters.

So after many attempts of calling motorola's customer support and getting both the headphones and adapter replaced to the most updated versions, I still cannot hear music out of my headphones. I can play/pause songs and change to different songs, but I can only hear music out of my 8gb 2nd generation iPod touch's external speakers. Motorola cannot help anymore, and so I believe I need to buy the Sony Bluetooth adapter that everyone has mentioned on the discussion board. Am I right? Will it really work this time?

  • After I updated my 2 Iphones  and one Itopuch the bluetooth on one of the phones and the Itouch will not stay on. When you go to the general settings to turn it on it shows on but the icon disapears when you go to home scree or leave general seetings.

After I updated my two Iphone 4's and my Itouch bluetooth problem occurred on two of the three devices.  One of the phones and the itouch will not keep the bluetooth on.  When you go to the general settings to turn it on it show on and the icon pops up but as soon as you leave the general settings the icon disappears and will not show up in the home screen.  It will not pair with any devices.   It will search for and find them but won't pair because the icon will not show up meaning it is off. What can i do to fix this problem that I believe was caused by the update.

Sounds like we have a similar problem.  Four days ago I was playing music through a wireless Bose speaker via bluetooth and everything was fine.  Then I was texting while listening and got 2 texts about the same time as I was typing one and my phone went black.  I pushed the home button and it worked, went into my texts and all were there.  However ever since then the time isn't right, so it can't keep time no matter what I do.  The bluetooth works only at times, the wifi keeps jumping on and off, sometimes my data won't work and the other day I couldn't even turn it off, so had to wait until it died.  The battery life display at that moment wasn't correct either.  Took to Verizon, they couldn't help.  Suggested a factory reset, which I did last night and still the same issues!  One day I couldn't even text my husband on his iPhone.  Just wouldn't work at all.  Did everything suggest and still not good.  Seems like after stalking these pages today a lot of people are having this problem in Dec/Jan and of course also I'm 3 weeks out of my 1 year warranty and so were many others, by days.  Very strange, and all on the 5C.  What did you do?  Is it working now?

  • Will the Itouch 2nd gen (SPECIFICALLY) bluetooth work with this item???

    hi,
i was just wondering if the bluetooth enabled gen 2 itouch will be able to work with the Samsung HT-X810T (2.1 Ch Soundbar, DVD). i know the soundbar has bluetooth but will the itouch be able to send songs to this soundbar?
    here's a link to the product: http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=audiovideo&type=hometh eater&subtype=hometheatersystems&model_cd=HT-X810T/XAA

    Thanks everyone.
Given that it states on the Box that the soundbar is "bluetooth" capable, i wonder if it 'doesn't' work with itouch bluetooth, then WHAT "will" it work with???
i mean, itouch/iphone is the most sophisticated media player out there right now, and if the "bluetooth" capable soundbar doesn't work with THIS item (ie. ipod), then i can't imagine what else it would work with!
i called samsung just now and after putting me on hold for 5 minutes to "check with a few people", he said (cautiously) that yea.....it should.

  • Best Bluetooth a2dp adapter and Headset....

I'm after best combination for Music. Im looking at the Sony TMR-BT8iP for the adapter. And for the headset the Motorola S9 headset.
But I'd like to know a few things from the experienced user's of these products
    Whats the adapter like?
    Any good with the S9?
What's the battery life on the S9 headset?
Any serious problems with these devices?
And finally are there any better Combo's out there for Music?
    Cheers
    Fletch

I just posted on a different message about this (http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1677530&tstart=0), so I am just copying it here...
I recently bought the Sony "TMR-BT8IP" wireless transmitter for iPod (http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=1055 1&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665274447), and I can tell you it works great on my iPhone 3G, I use it to listen music meanwhile at the gym on its full stereo glory. It is so good not to be attached by the wires to listen music and exercise at the same time. And stops the music if there is a incoming call, though I think this maybe a iPhone feature rather than the adapter.
BTW. I use a Sony- Ericsson Bluetooth stereo headset HBH-DS205 (http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/accessories/seetheaccessory/hbh-ds205?c c=us&lc=en) which works good as well for calls. I have experienced no distortion or static as I read in the forums other headsets do. And the great of this headset is that I can use any standard stereo headset I want. The downside is that it does not support multipoint (connect with multiple devices) so I have to un-pair it from the BT8IP and pair it with my iPhone 3g, if I want to use for calls.

  • IPod bluetooth audio lagging video?

    Hi,
I'm new to Bluetooth. I have an iPod Classic 160GB with Motorola S9 head set and Sony TMR-BT8iP Transmitter for the iPod. I like the set up except that when playing videos there seems to be a short lag in the audio signal that is not there with cabled head phones. Is this inherent with Bluetooth or is it one of the components not functioning properly?
    Any suggestions or insights appreciated.

I also experience this problem and watch a lot of video while traveling. Right now I keep my Sony DRBT50 in my drawer and use a corded headset because I can not deal with the delay.
I was planning on getting an iPad to get a bigger screen for video for my travels, but will probably hold off until this problem is fixed. I imagine it will be a problem there as well.
If anyone else is having the lag problem, please post so Apple can see its an issue that is important to us. I am actually disappointed that the post that tparry refers to was archived.

  • IPhone G3 S with built in BlueTooth car Kit problem

    I have an iPhone 3Gs.
When I connect to my car kit (Motorola T605) the kit always falls back into music mode.Tthe phone works in this mode but when I use either the iPod feature or a GPS navigation app I get no sound through the car.
It worked perfectly with my older iPhone with 2.2.1.
Any ideas as to what is wrong or what I can do to rectify the problem ?
Do any of you have car kits that work fully with the iPhone 3G s that you can recommend .. It looks like I might have to change my car kit.
I have updated my 2.2.1 3G phone .... The same problems exist. It seems to be a version 3.0 software issue to me.

    Hi Tim,
I have just spent 2 hours on the phone with Motorola's tech support (They were useless at best !!!). I got nowhere at all. They blame all the problems all on Apple and say their kit is NOT guaranteed to work with all phones with A2DP. I wish they said that in their sales literature and i told them that .. they seemed to be unable to accept the idea that their saying it works in writing is somewhat misleading (Wrong in this case) and perhaps even a breach of sales law.
I then spent over an hour at my local (and very experienced) car audio store. they were more than helpful but they also could not get things working correctly.
I do have a Sony car stereo system and this has a lead for an iPod to play through the stereo system.
I connected my iPhone to this ... it worked .. sort of ! .. I had to play around a bit .. I managed to get Audio to work and my navigation App (Navigon Europe) worked this way also.
The store then played around with a Parrot MKi9100 car kit that they had on a demonstration stand.. This was significantly better and I am having my motorola T605 removed and disposed of in disgust tomorrow and the Parrot installed.
The Parrot will also charge the iPhone via it's cable unlike the Motorola and Sony setup.
I did speak to Parrot themselves and they have said to me that any of their models in the MKi range will be fine with the iPhone with version 3.0 software as they have done software updates .. The updates can be applied by the owners simply and quickly.
Just for information for you and others with similar problems ... We also tried several car stereo systems that say they have bluetooth and iPhone compatibility built in to them .. Alpine in particular ... Not one worked !!!
The Parrot is being fitted as I said earlier tomorrow ... I will make a further report when it's all done to let you know just how good it is and how everything works.
    I hope this helps.

  • Compatibility between the iPhone 6 and certain vehicles, and the hands free connectivity in those vehicles?

How can I findout about the compatibility between the iPhone 6 and certain vehicles, and the hands free connectivity in those vehicles?
I am interested in the iPhone 6 but have several meetings that have to call into for work.  Where can I find out about the compatibility with iPhone 6 and if there are issues I need to be aware of for connecting to hands free option in the car?
Please point me to the right direction. The dealership was useless in helping me. I figured Verizon can be more helpful.

        ShaM1,
I understand the importance of the bluetooth compatibility between your new device and your car.  What make and model is your vehicle?
Here is the information that Verizon Wireless has on Bluetooth Car Kit compatibility; http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/how-to-use-bluetooth-car-kit-compatibility/.  However, Apple does not have any information listed here.  We can assume that the latest and greatest iPhone 6 has the technology to be compatible with most vehicles.  If you'd like to discover further information I'd suggest contacting Apple directly; 800-275-2273.
