Itunes 11 always syncing all books

I have a lot of books on my iPad, and it's always worked well - but ever since I upgraded to iTunes 11, it has synced every single book every time I sync!
This means that syncing my ipad now takes quite a long time, instead of just a few seconds - it's simply unusable.
Has anyone else seen this issue?

I figured this out, at least partly. I removed all books from sync, cleared everything out then started adding them back a few at a time. One particular book was somehow causing the problem. I deleted the book from itunes and everything is now fine.

I just downloaded four books through iTunes. I tried 5 times to sync the books onto my iPhone. They did NOT appear on my iPhone. Previous books synced without problems. I tired syncing ALL books, and also selected book by selecting the new books. No luck. What do/can I do now. iTunes prevents me downloading again. The books show on the computer. I cannot redownload direct to my iPhone now as iTunes indicates the books are already downloaded. What do/can I do now?

You got the new iphone?????   I have same problem.  I transferred audiobooks to device to find no audiobooks on device (despite it being in iTunes as if it was).  Have you found a solution?????   I even tried to change import settings on format transfer but hasn't worked.

iTunes has stopped automatically syncing new books placed in Library with open file. I have to drag the file to the device to get iTunes to sync the book. Why?
Ever since version. 7 iTunes has stopped syncing checked books without dragging them to my iPad. all settings are correct.  I have set up 3 new devices and had to direct the new people to drag the books to their iPad. previous to ver. 7 this happened automaticlly just by syncling the device.  This issue isn't just on my computer but at least three others. books purchased from apple sync just fine. If is drag the book from the library ad drop it on the device it syncs fine.  What a pain if you have added several files now you either have to do the drag drop process for each one as you add it or try and remember which files you added the find them and do the process.
    Thanks

    Hello BBWEST11,
This may be due to iTunes 11 being set to manually manage content on devices by default.
By default, iTunes 11 and later is set to manually manage your content on your device. Manually managing your device allows you to choose the content you want to have with you.

If Steve jobs still alive you would never have published such software, befor everything would have worked flawlessly.
Dear would you let the customers wait another month. This would be the end product was great.

You need to copy the iTunes liubrary from your Old computer, or its Backup, to your New computer...
    See Here for one way
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    Or...
From your Old Computer... Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
Backup iTunes to an External Drive

An Added Bonus is that you will then have a Backup of iTunes...

  • 3 Most Recent Unplayed Podcasts is selected - But iTunes still syncs all

I've selected "3 most recent podcasts" to be synced with my iPod, but iTunes still syncs all the podcasts, without deleting or omitting older, played podcasts.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Ben

I have had a variation on this problem for years.
If I tell iTunes not to sync Podcasts, it does it anyway and just makes them invisable to the iPod. You can see them in iTunes when navigating the iPod.
I reported to Apple, but nothing ever fixed. Mind you, they still can't get Apple Mail to check the system preferences to learn which is the first day of the week so I don't hold my breath for an easy fix to either apps.
The only way I found to resolve it is to select the option to only sync ticked items and then unselect all the podcasts, choosing only those you wish to sync.
It's messy, it shouldn't be required, but with 10GB of podcasts on my machine, I haven't any other choice.
Unless someone from Apple knows of a proper fix?

  • HT1386 I get on iTunes and sync all my music on to my iPhone. I then get on my iPhone and there isn't any music on my phone. I have updated my phone and iTunes on my computer but I can seem to put my music on my iPhone. Why?

I get on iTunes and sync all my music on to my iPhone. I then get on my phone and there isn't any music on there. I have updated both my computer and phone but I cant seem to get my music on to my iPhone. Why?

Here are some things to double-check.  The first two are optional:
On the summary tab of your iTunes sync settings check "Sync only checked songs and videos"
In your music library check all the songs you want to sync to your phone
Make sure there are no exclamation points next to any of the songs you want to sync to your phone
Be sure to authorize your computer for all Apple IDs used for any purchased music you want to sync to your phone (in Store>Authorize This Computer)
Check "Sync Music" on the Music tab of your iTunes sync settings

  • Itunes not syncing all files to ipod - permissions error

With the newest verison of itunes is not syncing all of my files to my ipod - this is so frustrating! I have taken itunes/quicktime completely off my dell and reloaded with the newest version of itunes/quicktime. Changed to manually managing my ipod files. Now I have 2 problems left - 1. 2 recently purchased audio books show up in my ipod file in itunes but do not show up on my ipod; 2 I can ony get 100 of 500 songs to load onto the ipod with a warning that I do not have permission for the rest.

Same problem here, same application versions. I'm trying to get them to sync to an iPhone but it doesn't actually sycnc. They play without issue in iTunes. I converted them from flac to Apple lossless using dbpoweramp.

  • Stucked iBooks and iTunes always downloads unusable books.

    Hello all
I have an iPad3. and have iBooks 3.02 installed.
I'm trying to get some free books from iTunes to see if it's worth to read on iPad.
All thing goes great if only use iPad. but I don't want iPad to do the download things.
I use iTunes on my mac for downloads.
I tried some big books made only for iPad like this one
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/book/girls-lena-dunhams-twitter/id580909614?mt=11
Download it from itunes and sync to iPad, but the book stucked in iPad, the progress bar shows 100% but never finish.
I can't delete this book on iPad. reboot iPad or use iTunes to delete it does not change anything, it just stucked there.
The only way to clear it is reset your iPad to factor default.
many iPad only books behaive like this.
and I found that if I download those books from iPad, sync back to iTunes,  then delete the book on iPad, sync books from iTunes to iPad
    it's OK!
that means iTunes may download a unusable book, that take you into trobule. I compared the same books which downloaded by iTunes and iBooks on iPad.
    the size is different.

I figured this out, at least partly. I removed all books from sync, cleared everything out then started adding them back a few at a time. One particular book was somehow causing the problem. I deleted the book from itunes and everything is now fine.

  • Why does iTunes always sync old apps back to my phone when restoring from back-up?

I can't seem to stop this happening - I delete apps frequently from my phone as I find I have no use for them. I regularly sync my phone to iTunes and I expected this to mean that old apps would be deleted from there as well, the same as contacts and photos are modified. But whenever I've restored from a back-up, I end up with all my old apps back on. I'm currently restoring from a back-up and it's syncing 1560 apps back onto my phone! I only had 346 on there that I wanted! But obviously I do want it to sync apps back on because I really can't be bothered to download 346 apps again, but why can't it just sync the apps back on that were present on my most recent back-up? This seems to be one of the many dumb things that iTunes does...

Syncing apps is a transfer/copy process, not a true sync process as with contacts, and the same for all iTunes content.
All apps on your iPhone should be in your iTunes library. If you have Sync Apps selected under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, after downloading an app direct with your iPhone the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically along with being selected the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so. If you delete an app direct on your iPhone, the app should be deselected automatically under the Apps tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes the first time you sync your iPhone with iTunes after doing so - so the app won't be reinstalled on your iPhone with a following sync with iTunes. Your selections under the various tabs for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes is included with your iPhone's backup.
No iTunes content in your iTunes library will ever be erased via the iTunes sync process.

  • ITunes not syncing all pictures

My iTunes will not sync all of my pictures from iPhoto. After every try I go and delete the iPod photo cache, but it still doesn't work.  I'm trying to sink my MacBook with my iPhone 5 and my ipad mini, but neither work..

OK. Here's the fix. Haven't had any problems since I tried the following: 1. Use the temporary fix of deleting the com.apple.Aperture file.
    2. Now re-start Aperture while holding Command + Option and select 're-build database'
    3. Quit Aperture
    4. Note that the progress indicator "Updating Previews for Sharing" appears before Aperture closes
    5. Load Aperture
    6. Load iTunes and connect iPad or iPhone (check for accurate library structure from Aperture)
    7. Sync iPad or iPhone
    8. Create a new folder in your Aperture library.
    9. Move a couple of Albums to the new folder
    10. Go to iTunes and click on the 'Photos' tab of the device sync options
    11. Changes to Aperture library should update properly Let me know if this works for everyone else. I'm pretty sure it will. Seems that my library was corrupt, but rebuilding the library won't help unless the database (com.apple.Aperture) is deleted first.

  • How do i get itunes to sync all my music between my imac and my macbook?

    Hi!
I have all my music stored currently on my imac. With icloud, i was under the impression that all my music would be able to be synced over to my imac for when i am not at home. It seems that any new songs i buy from itunes are synced across and available on both devices but is it possiblt to sync everything across (including things i purchased before icloud)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The two computers do not sync.  It appears that you have successfully enabled automatic downloads for both computers, which is great for new purhases.
For purchases before automatic downloads, you'll have to go get them for each computer.  You'll be able to download them all or just the ones not currently in your library.  This explains how:  Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519

  • ITunes re-syncs all photos even if they haven't changed

I've found that when syncing my iPhone or iPad, some times, iTunes decides to resync all the photos on the device (i.e. wipe and the sync again).
I've not changed any of the photos so am not sure what's triggering this.
My configuration is set up to simply sync all photos from one of my folders (iPod Photos)
The strange thing is that this issue seems to occure randomly - i.e. doesn't happen every time I sycn.
Anyone have any ideas why this would be happening?
    thanks

I don't have a solution, but I can take a guess at what's going on.
My photos are on a shared folder in the Cloud (Mozy Sync).  There are two laptops in the family that access this folder on a regular basis (husband and wife).  Each laptop has iTunes installed.  Wife syncs her iPhone to her laptop using her instance of iTunes.  Husband syncs his iPhone to his laptop using his instance of iTunes.
Whether the pictures are re-synced depends on who synced last.  For example, if Wife synced last, and Husband syncs, all the pictures are reloaded from scratch.  Now, if Husband syncs again, only the changed pictures are loaded.  But if Wife syncs next, all of the pictures are reloaded from scratch.
My theory is that the two instances of iTunes are fighting over the thumbnails in the folder iPod Photo Cache. Thumbnails are scaled-down versions of the picture files that take up less storage space, but are suitable for display on the iPhone's screen.  If Wife was the last person to sync, Husband's iTunes doesn't recognize the thumbnails, so it proceeds to erase them and rebuild them.  However, if Husband performs the next sync, his iTunes recognizes the thumbnails and syncs only items that changed.
If this is the problem, then the question is:  How do I get both instances of iTunes to share the same thumbnails without re-creating them each time?  Alternately, can I  have two instances of the iPod Photo Cache, one for Wife and one for Husband?
    Is this resonating with anyone?

  • Ipod always syncing all songs

    Hi
Everytime I connect my ipod it syncs all of my songs, even when nothing has changed since the last sync. Any ideas what this could be????
    Chris

This seems to have resolved similar issues in the past.
    Select the iPod in iTunes.
Click the Summary tab then tick *Manully manage music*.
Click OK then eject the iPod.
Unplug it then plug it back in.
Open iTunes and select it in iTunes.
Click the Summary tab then untick *Manually manage music* and untick *Enable disk use*.
    Click OK.
    I tshold now sync correctly.
