Itunes 7.0.1.8 destructs track when converting

Hi. When converting AAC format to MP3, my Itunes 7.0.1.8 doesnt fully convert the song. It just converts a few seconds and thats it. I've tried re-converting it but to no avail. Any advice?

When converting/importing files from hard disk or CD, windows crashes bringing up the infamous blue screen.
what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're just seeing a "flash" of a blue screen, we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • I just bought a new album in itunes and accidently deleted the first track. when i go to redownload it from my cloud or purchases it tells me that the item cant be redownloaded on this device for 90 days?

i have two itunes accounts but i only use one to buy music. while on the account that i use for music, i bought a new album last night. i bought the album with my 5th gen ipod. after the album was done downloading i accidently side swiped over the first track and deleted it. when i went back to redownload the track the message "this computer is already associated with an apple id. you can download past purchases on this computer with just one apple id every 90 days. this computer can be used with a different apple id in 81 days." i do not understand why i cant redownload something i just purchased. please help.

Unfrotunately, this sounds like a dead TC.
    - also, the picture does NOT pick up the 2 airport expressess in the house that I used to extend the wirelass network on the previous TC
    - there is no option to extend the wireless network
You need to reconfigure the Expresses to rejoin the TC's network via a factory reset.

    Greetings,
I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.
    Good Luck - Cheers,
    M.

  • I want to join the cd tracks when importing my discs into itunes

I have always joined my tracks when putting audio books into itunes. Then, yesterday I put the first disc of a book in but could not get the option up when I came to add disc 2. I figured it was a faulty disc and tried another book but nothing works.
Previously I have inserted a disc highlighted all the tracks & then chosen join tracks from the advanced tab. Now everything highlights but the required join tracks option remains stubbornly unavailable. I uninstalled & re-installed itunes but that hasn't made any difference.
Please can anyione help - I forsee a life of re-naming audio tracks so that the stay together on my ipod!

The only way iTunes can join tracks is when it is ripping from physical CD.
Once the CD is ripped, you can use 3rd party software to join the tracks (i.e. an audio editor), but it may be easier to start over again from the CD.

  • When converting cd tracks, iTunes crashes...how do I fix this?

I have been able to convert many cd's to iTunes format, but recently iTunes crashes as soon as it starts to convert any cd. It says "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

  • ITunes refuses to let me drag tracks in or out of or within playlists

With no pattern, just nasty surprises, iTunes refuses to let me drag tracks in or out of or within playlists.
I have searched the Apple Support Communities and elsewhere and found no solutions which work.
It's nothing to do with Wacom - I don't have one. It's nothing to do with setting iTunes to manual sorting. It's not set to shuffle or repeat. It's just an ordinary playlist. It's not a folder nor a Smart playlist.
On one occasion I phoned Apple and a nice man told me how to display the Library (but it's now hidden again) and delete an iTunes preference file.  This solved the problem for a while. But I have forgotten how to display the Library again and can't remember the name of the preference file to delete.
Anyway, the problem should have been fixed by now we are at V 10.6.3
If there is no solution then I am stuck with copy and paste - a very unsatisfactory system when I am playing a playlist live.

Found the answer myself (from a tip in another thread):
You have to reboot both your Mac and your iPhone...

  • ITunes added extra time to a track

iTunes added extra time to a track after transferring the song from my computer.  What do I do to to transfer the song correctly and remove the extra (several minutes) of dead air that iTunes added to the end of the track?

    Well....
First of all, let me confirm exactly what you are doing.
I notice you say iTunes is not recognising the change. So when you play the song in iTunes, it does not stop at the new time you've entered, is this correct? Or
is it playing okay in iTunes, but not on your iPod? If this is what's happening, you have Synced your iPod after the change, haven't you? (Any changes you make in iTunes while the iPod is connected to iTunes will almost certainly not be activated on the iPod until you do another Sync.)
(If you manually manage the music on your iPod, you will need to remove the track from the iPod and then put it back on again. Putting it back on should cause the newly revised stop time to be on your iPod.)
So if your stop time is shown (in iTunes) as 2:52, but the track is not stopping at that time - in iTunes - then I suggest you do a repair of iTunes. To repair iTunes, download iTunes and go through the instal procedure. (Do not delete or remove the existing iTunes.) Once the instal procedure sees the existing iTunes, you should see an option to either repair or start new, choose the repair option.
I've had to use the repair iTunes option myself, a few weeks ago, and it fixed the issue I was having. Can't remember what the issue was though!
Finally, if the track plays okay in iTunes but not on the iPod after a new Sync, the only thing I can suggest is a Restore of your iPod. This will remove everything from the iPod and the next Sync put back what it finds in your library. If you manually manage, you will need to put everything back on yourself.

  • I updated my Iphone4 and had the m.calendar app with all of my daily temperatures saved, since the update after even after synching the iphone to itunes I have lost months of tracking I am devastated!! can anyone help get it back

I updated my Iphone4 and had the m.calendar app with all of my daily temperatures saved, since the update after even after synching the iphone to itunes I have lost months of tracking I am devastated!! can anyone help get it back

I don't understand this answer. What do you mean " your contacts should be in whatever program/service you have selected to sync."? The address book is created on the phone not in Itunes or any other program/service. When Itunes says backing up phone I have to assume it backs up everything on the phone. Most of what's on my phone does not come out of itunes. I download apps directly on the phone. When the software updates it does not bring those apps back. I have to go into the appstore and install them all over again. Itunes music library syncs with whatever is on the device your linked up to BUT the phone book just dissappears after you update the phone. There is no way to save it anywhere else.

  • ITunes crashes when converting to mp3

    Hi,
I'm having an issue when using the "convert selection to mp3" in iTunes.
I have a large portion of my library stored at high bit-rate mp3 (some variable bitrate). I would like to convert these to 128bit mp3.
When converting some tracks, it crashes saying "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"... etc.
I have tried to figure out what is different about the files it crashes on and won't complete the conversion, but they appear to be random - they are not especially large files, they are encoded the same way as others (the ones I can identify we encoded with Exact Audio Copy (secure mode) - but I have others encoded this way that don't crash under conversion in iTunes).
Anyway, its frustrating because some songs can't be re-encoded at a lower bitrate, and I can't select multiple songs as it ends up crashing regularly!
    Any ideas?
    Andrew

Hi there, i have exactly the same problem as you do - i think it is a software glitch and hopefully apple will sort it out sooner rather than later.

  • Why can't iTunes resume playback of the last track I played before closing it?

If Safari can recall the last page I had open when I closed it, and Preview can open the last documents I had open, why can't iTunes resume playback of the last track I played?
Come on guys, a search on the internet will bring up discussions from the early 2000s with the question of resuming playback. Just add the feature already.

HI THanks for this helpful post. I will try this. I have 2 iPods. One is 3rd Gen. I love the little small square, so I bought it on ebay. Then I got a little iPod nano ( again a tiny square shape)
So I tried to sync them today and update them.
This is the response I got.
I get a message that the original file cannot be found and asks if I want to try and locate file.  I locate the file and it's empty?!
This freaked me out because I have all this music I love. The only thumb drive is my back up drive which is not a thumb. Will the back up drive have my music files too?
    Thanks-Peace Out

  • Does iTunes normalize audio when converting to AAC?

Most of my mp3s are not normalized. I want to normalize these tracks before converting them to AAC. Does iTunes normalize audio when converting to AAC? Or do i need to normalize my mp3s first, then convert them to AAC? Thanks!

What exactly do you mean by "normalize"? Do you mean leveling the volume?
iTunes uses the soundcheck feature to do this. It doesn't automatically happen when you convert a song to a different file type.
Apply it in iTunes using the edit/preferences/playback menu (Windows).
Turn it on on the iPod using the settings/soundcheck/on menu.
After applying it in iTunes, sync your iPod to reflect the changes made.
There are 3rd party programs that do this more effectively (at least in my opinion).
    For Windows there is mp3Gain/aacGain.

  • I went into itunes on one of my computers and when I went to sync up the songs I had purchased it wouldn't let me.

I went into itunes on one of my computers and when I went to sync up the songs I had purchased on another computer, both of which are authorized on the same account, it would not detect that I had purchased the song, even though I have a receipt saying that I purchased the songs days ago.

    Hello Vulspyr
Look in the iTunes Store and there will a link that says Purchased, once there you should be able see all purchased made under the Apple ID that you are signed in with and there should be a cloud icon to download those tracks. The article below will assist you further.

  • Gap in "gapless" track when "repeat one" in use

I have some short tracks meant to be played on an infinite loop -- babbling brook sound and such. As you can imagine, though these sound fine when played in a truly seamless loop, if there's even a small gap when the track repeats, they sound horrible.
The tracks play just fine in iTunes -- no gaps, seamless, perfect. But when played on my iPod Classic, there's a brief gap when the track repeats. Just a fraction of a second glitch, but it's enough to change the effect from relaxing to horribly jarring. Unusable, in short.
Is this a known iPod bug, or is there something I can do to fix it? (Yes, I have considered taking the short tracks and dup'ing them a few hundred times in a sound editor to create one big truly gapless music file with lots of repetitions, but that seems like a very ugly hack.)

The term "gapless" when referring to the iPod is usually understood to mean no gap between one track _and the next_ , and so expecting the iPod to manage gapless transitions when repeating the same track is probably asking a bit much of it. Perhaps someone else reading this may disagree...
By the way, I believe that the iPod's gapless feature is designed to work as follows: when you select "crossfade playback" (in iTunes, Edit/Preferences/Playback) each song is faded into the next - except for any albums marked as gapless. (I have not actually tried crossfade playback yet, but I have read about it in other posts.)
You could always try the crossfade playback and see what happens, but I think your ugly hack may be the only answer! Actually, one last thought, how long are these short tracks? The Classic iPod models must buffer the output from the hard drive to the headphones (again, I'm sure someone will disagree ) and if the track is very short, the buffer may not have time to find the start of the track before it finishes. Do you get the gap if you let the track play through to a third time?

  • Why do some tracks, when imported from Audacity, when selected, immediately flip to a different track?

Up until early 2012, I digitized thousands of LP tracks using Audacity, exporting them as MP3 files and then adding them to my iTunes library as AAC format.  This all worked great.
Now, after a year using a new MacBook Pro, I have started digitizing my remaining dozen LP's after downloading and installing the latest version of Audacity (2.0.3).  I noticed that several - not all - of the newly digitized tracks, when selected in iTunes, would immediately jump to a different track.  Sometimes the jump would be to a much older track, and sometimes to a track that was purchased from the iTunes store.  Sometimes the jump would be to the next track in sequence.  A Genius Bar staff suggested that I change from MP3 to AIFF, and that seemed to help after I re-digitized the problem tracks.  Today, however, I noticed that 3 of the 11 tracks from an album I converted yesterday were jumping to other tracks.  I had the AIFF preference set to 32-bit.  Would changing it to 16-bit help?  Why would only some tracks be affected?
    Argh!

This seems to have done the trick.  Thank you.
You are welcome.  That issue between iTunes and Audacity comes up here every once in a while:

If you are making archival copies of those LPs, keep the 32 bit copies somewhere and make 16-bit versions to use in iTunes.  Otherwise, just do everything in 16.
