ITunes 9 / 10 installs incorrectly?

I went to put some CDs onto my computer and it asked for iTunes to update. However, once it tried to do so, it downloaded the 32-bit version and then, after trying, said that I needed the 64-bit. As I went to get that instead, now it keeps telling me that it was installed incorrectly and to reinstall it. Uninstalling and reinstalling it doesn't work, and trying to head back to iTunes 9 does the same thing. I'm using a Windows 7 laptop, and yet I can't figure out what's wrong with it.

You need to do a proper uninstall reinstall go to apple.com/support type in ht1923 in search bar . Follow all steps to remove itunes. Then you need to verify if you have 64 bit or 32 bit windows. Go to start>computer>right click on computer select properties. If your on 32bit go to apple.com click itunes and download as normal if your on 64 bit go to apple.com click itunes, then click download itunes, once you see the spot to put in your email scroll down to wear it says 64bit installer click that and download as normal. post if more issues.

  • ITunes 10.5 installation problem on Lion 10.7.2

I've first upgraded Lion to 10.7.2 with http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1459 because it was failing with the regular software upgrade, then I run software upgrade again and chose to upgrade iTunes. The installation failed without any useful output. Then I've downloaded installation of iTunes from http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and tried to install it, but ended with same error. Now if I open iTunes, it starts with a "An unknown error occured (-42408)." message. The about page states that it's version 10.5 (141) and the check for updates states that it's the latest. If I run the system's software upgrade then iTunes is displayed there. Any suggestions how can I fix this, or at least downgrade to the previous version which was working fine?

I have the same problem. I also have the following problem : iTunes 10.5 told me that my iPad needed resetting which I started to do and then it errored out on me leaving my iPad stuck. I eventually upgraded to OS5 on my daughters Mac which was running iTunes 10.5 with OS X  10.6.8 but have lost all my apps etc which I presume are on my iTunes . Unfortunately my iTunes will still not let me access my iPad. I haven't dared plug in my iPhone since upgrading to 10.7.2 in case it does the same thing. Help!

  • Solution: iTunes for Windows installation interrupted

    Hi everyone.
    From my experience...
If you are running Windows XP Professional and have updated to Service Pack 2, you will not be able to install iTunes+QuickTime.
You will need to un-install Service Pack 2 and then install iTunes+QuickTime. You can then re-install Service Pack 2, but keep in mind that if you try to update iTunes+QuickTime, you will need to un-install SP2 again.
This is if you can't install or update and are receiving a message reading:
"The iTunes for Windows installer has completed.
The installation was interrupted before iTunes could be completely installed.
The System has not been modified. To install this program at a later time, run the installation again.
Click Finish to exit the wizard."
    Good luck!

Something is clearly horked up regarding SP2.
    Try re-applying SP2.

Try from a computer.   You may have to reset your password.  If you can't get the comfirmation email then you can use the secret question.  Once you can log in then you change the the email address.

When you change your USER ID (which is generally your E-MAIL), Itunes for some reason gets confused... Any apps, music etc. purchased off the itunes store before you made the change still bring up the original USER ID to update, authorize etc. So if you try and enter the password without changing to the new user ID, even if the account is technically the same, you're going to get "incorrect password" or "can not connect to itunes" or possibly "account doesn't exist". I found this out the hard way when I upgraded from XP to Windoze 7.

  • What is an itunes 64-bit installer?

What is an itunes 64-bit installer? I have a windows 8 OS and the 64-bit version of itunes downloaded but could not run due to some sort of incompatibility issue.

Go to the Start button and right click on Computer, go to Properties where it will display the System you have. Sounds like you have a 32-bit system and will need a 32-bit version of iTunes, not 64-bit.

    any ideas?

These ones are typically caused by underlying problems on the PC that also often cause Windows Updates to fail to install. If we can fix the Windows Update trouble, we can usually get the iTunes trouble cleaned up en passant.
Go into your Windows update and try to check for new updates. If updates install, stock up on the ones you're behind on, restarting the PC if requested to do so. After the restart, try installing iTunes again. Does it go through this time for you?
If windows updates fail to install, go into your Update History and doubleclick the failures. What alphanumeric codes appear for you? (For example, 8007000B.)
