ITunes crashing during manual sync/update requiring use of "Apply" button.
My iTunes will sync new music just fine via the "Recently Added" smart playlist (to my 16GB iPod Nano Touch), but anything else I do that requires me to lock in changes by hitting the "Apply" button immediately locks up iTunes. If I try to manually select a playlist to add and hit "Apply", it crashes.

I am still having the problem. I have noticed a pattern to the seemingly random freezes.
The iPod is stopping to Sync at almost predictable points during the sync. The first stoppage occurs around the 1.9GB part of the sync. This has not always been the same file but it is always around the same place.
When I sync in small chunks the freeze occurs at almost the same place every time. As soon as it freezes, iTunes is toast and the entire computer needs to be restarted.
Anyways, the freeze happens around every 2GB's of data transferred. It does not have to be in one chunk, it is almost like it is happening on the iPod. Like the iPod is kicking itself out of the sync at certain points along it's hard drive or something. Once it freezes and I restart the computer, I can transfer another 2 GB before it freezes again... then restart, repeat. Finally I was able to load up the 14.8 GB I had in my iTunes. Several hours later... not sure if I should take the iPod back or not. If it is the iPod and that fixes the problem great... but if it is my machine, I get another 3-4 hours syncing and restarting my computer. Wheeee!

Itunes crashes during ipod sync on windows xp after itunes update
Installed iTunes update 2 days ago on Windows XP computer. iTunes now crashes constantly when trying to sync iPod. Get a Data Execution Prevention message that shuts down iTunes. I've added an exception for iTunes in DEP, but it still happens every time I try to sync and a few times it's happened after I've started up iTunes and just tried to go to the iTunes store with no iPod connected. How can I overcome this problem?
Oh, and here's the Error Signature when it crashes:

My iPhone has crashed during a sync and now I can't restore from backup as it is asking for password to load the backup yet neither the lock code for the phone or my iTunes Password are working... I have no other password to call upon and need the restore to retrieve info onto my phone, I am a real novice to this...... please help, !!!!
If anyone else is looking for a solution to this same problem, I was able to get it working looking through several older discussions.
The solution was to use the password that I had on my iTunes account the very first time I set up the iPhone about a year ago. I changed my iTunes password about 10 months ago; but apparently, the backups continue to use the password that existed when the phone was first set up.
A couple of troubling things with this are that 1) I didn't apply a password when I did the backup this afternoon so I don't understand why it was required when I did the restore a few hours later. and 2) it makes zero sense why iTunes would not be smart enough to use the current accout password when requiring the password to restore from a backup made with no password.
I thought iTunes and Apple were smarter than that. With so many posts stating exactly the same problem, it is clear that this is bug in the software.
Best,

Itunes crash during update all apps or even a few apps at a time in windows
My itunes crashes when I click "update all apps" or even when I just update manually a few apps at a time. Its not related to the version of itunes it seems the issue has occured during the passed few versions. I've tried logging off the store account and relogging in. I've reinstalled itunes. I've uninstalled all apple programs from the pc and itunes and reinstalled everything fresh. I've deleted the library files and let itunes create new ones and the issue still persists. Any ideas?

The problem that have started when I was going to sync my iPhone 4 with current iTunes running on 64bit Windows 7.
I started iTunes and plugged in my iPhone.
All looked good and the iPhone came up as the device as it should have.
Next I wanted to transfer purchases prior to syncing so I started the Transfer Purchases process.
iTunes stopped working during the Transfer Purchases process
Now when I plug in my iPhone iTunes takes me to the “setup your iPhone” screen and displays “This computer has previously been synced with an iPhone or another iOS device” and only allows me to restore and old backup or setup as new.
Obviously some files were not closed properly when iTunes crashed during the transfer purchases process, how can I cleanup iTunes so that it will allow me to backup and sync my phone.
I am a software developer and am sure that a fix is not in the menu options What I am saying is that I can easily remove or edit corrupt files to get it working.
Thanks, MikeThe error message you're seeing is likely the other way around -- i.e. something like "This iPhone has previously been synced with a different computer". There's no problem syncing multiple iOS devices to the same computer.
However, the reverse is not true for the iPhone -- you cannot connect an iPhone to another computer without it being erased, even if you manually manage music and video. So, it sounds like you've been syncing your iPhone to a different computer?
Also, 5.1 (not 5.0.1) is the latest iOS. -
Since new MacBook Pro: iTunes freeze during iPhone sync
Hello
I know that there are already a lot of discussions going on about these but nothing works for me.
MacBook Pro mid 2012:
MacOS 10.8.5 ---> new clean install
iTunes 11.1.1 ---> new clean install
iPhone 3Gs:
iOS 6.1.3 ---> new clean install
The problem:
The problem started after a clean Mountain Lion install on a new MacBook Pro.
Updated all applications an system.
Copied iTunes folder to new MacBook Pro.
Connected iPhone to sync with new MacBook Pro.
And ...
iTunes freeze during iPhone sync for the first time in many years whitout problems.
Some apps in iPhone are partly installed because of freeze.
When i delete them they appear again during next sync and then iTunes freezes again.
What i already have tried:
# Clean iOS install --> again and again
# Recover from older back-up --> again and again
# New user
# New iTunes install
# Delete iTunes preferences and cache
# Delete all apps
# Reset permissions on the user in repair center
# select: "Prevent ..., iPhones, ... from syncing automatically"
---> but when i connect the iPhone it start syncing automatically???
# and so on, and so on
All the rest is working like a beauty!
Please help, getting down and losing al lot of time.
RegardsIt have taken me all day but it's solved!
During last sync on old MacBook Pro the new version of the iBook app was only synced partly.
That's why, when i was trying to sync on my new MacBook Pro, iTunes was freezing during sync.
Once i have synced my iPhone on the old MacBook Pro again, and iBook app was synced complete, this problem was fixed.

Itunes Crashed During Download-Can't Resume Download
First, I am running Vista with a SATA drive. I download episodes of "The Office" to that drive them copy to a network location and play the files from there. This has worked the last couple of episodes. I am running version 7.0.2.16.
When I downloaded episode 19, itunes crashed during the download. Now when I check on the store icon in itunes, I get the message that "all purchases have been downloaded for this account". How can I get the episode I have paid for as part of a season pass?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. Making Vista and itunes play together so far has been more trouble than it is worth.

dell Other OS vistaJim,
If you can't resolve it, you might just need to ask the iTunes store to let you re-download it. Log into your account on iTunes, go to Account Information, click on Purchase History, go to the download in question, and click "Report a Problem."
The iTunes Store is real understanding about letting folks try to re-download an item if they have already purchased it. -
what does it mean when you're about to install itunes and it says This update requires OS X version 10.6.8 or later.??? i don't understand... Can someone please explain to me what that means...??? And how to fix it.
1. It means exactly what it says. Apple dropped support for earlier Mac OS X versions in iTunes 10.7.
2. Update the computer to 10.6.8. If it's running a Mac OS X version prior to 10.6, this requires buying a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store, which requires an Intel Mac with at least 1GB of RAM.

ITunes crashed during sync, now Podcasts have sound but no video.
My wife has a 5th gen 30GB iPod. It has the latest system software from iPod Updater, and we're running the latest iTunes.
Yesterday she was doing a sync, and iTunes crashed on her in the middle of it. Now, even with an iPod Restore and reset, and a restart of her Windows XP machine, Podcasts won't play properly on the iPod. They play fine in iTunes, but only the audio portion plays on the iPod. Non-Podcast video (such as music videos) plays fine on the iPod.
What happened here? What's wrong?
Thanks for any help in solving this.An update (and a solution):
Looks like the iTunes crash was only a clue as to what was happening elsewhere, and a slightly misleading clue at that.
Video Podcasts were placing themselves in the "Music" section on the iPod, and it was from there that we were attempting to play them. This worked just fine until iTunes's crash. After the crash, only the audio part would play.
It was only late last night that after lots of investigation my wife discovered that the video Podcasts were ALSO installing themselves into a "Videos > Video Podcasts" sub section!
It's stupidly obvious now, but was not yesterday: Video Podcasts will only play the audio portion when played from the "Music" section, but will play both audio and video when played from "Video > Video Podcasts". For some reason we had not discovered the "Video Podcasts" subsection until last night.
Then a second solution was discovered to have been necessary. One Podcast video still would not play properly, even from the correct section. This turned out to be due to a need to "Convert" it to play on the iPod. This page has the answer to that:
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301461
iTunes online Help has all the answers to this, but we thought it was an iPod problem, and the iPod manual was no help at all. The answers to this in iTunes Help are found under:
"Browsing and watching videos"
and
"Converting a video to work with iPod"
It really helps to PRINT those two subjects, so you can refer to the paper page instead of trying to toggle back and forth between the iTunes screen and its Help screen.
I hope this topic helps someone else. -
ITunes crashing when manually updating iPhone - Frustrated, help!
Hi,
Purchased a brand new 16gb iPhone lastweek. Everything seems to be working fine apart from when I try to upload songs to the iPhone via iTunes. I manually drop and drag (like I do for my nano) and the songs will update on the phone, but whenthe songs are on and the bar at the top of iTunes says "Syncing songs to iPhone" it just freezes and crashes. So I have to unplug the iPhone and restart iTunes if I want to add more music, now I am not doing that, I'll be there forever.
I have re-installed iTunes, defragmented my PC (XP), restarted PC numerous times and nothing seems to be working. I'm also closing all other programs while attempting to transfer music aswell, and making sure all USB ports are empty incase of comflict on the PC. But this is becoming very annoying for me, I got a iPhone because of the iTouch inside it.
Please help if you have any idea.
Cheers.Try resetting your iPhone by pressing the home and sleep buttons until you see the Apple logo, ignoring the slider. Takes about 5-15 secs of button holding and you won't lose any data or settings.
If this doesn't work, you may need to restore. See the manual for more detail... http://manuals.info.apple.com/enUS/iPhone_UserGuide.pdf -
Itunes crashed during sync and now it wont sync my apps?????
i was syncing my itunes and was updating my itunes which i minimized away, and then suddenly itunes crashed and itunes kept updating i closed the update and went back on and finished the sync but some apps i purchased werent there. i have since updated itunes thinking that would help but no luck there. how can i fix this?
In iTunes, go to the App store and download the apps again.
If you log in with the same account that they were purchased with, you will not have to pay for them again.
Golden rule, do not try to update the itunes software at the same time syncing your phone.
I would expect iTunes to want to shut its self down while updating and if you are syncing at the same time, then its very possible to loose all your info. You were probably lucky only to loose some Apps -
ITunes crashing during start up
My iTunes keeps crashing during the start up phase. The iTunes window will start running, but as soon as the "Genius is checking your library" status bar starts running, it crashes unexpectedly.
...let me clarify...does anyone, have a fix that doesn't require the loss of all the information on my phone? Or know if a new update to IOS 7.2 is coming out with a fix to this?
I was asking for HELP and didn't think I was being abrasive, but some people/trolls have a tendency to read into things, and since you ask, my underwear is good to go - no knots or twists in them, thanks.
To those with constructive feedback; the car settings are where they're supposed to be. It's a new touch-screen panel for Hyundai Sonata. It was installed 2 weeks ago, they are new factory parts and system, the car system was rebooted. Then from factory settings phone has been paired and enabled it plays the music just fine, but since I updated to the ew IOS, the controls don't work. Now, on the phone itself, it has current IOS 7.2, powered down and restarted. You can't delete the iTunes Store or ITunes music app, so I checked the settings. They're also where they need to be for pairing and play. The iTunes Store crashes upon startup. I can't even get into it. I was mistaken before in my previous posting in saying that pressing the home button on the home screen twice, brought up the music controls. It doesn't. In IOS 6 version, it did. The new IOS 7.2 doesn't seem to be hands-free friendly for drivers - not like it used to be.
Phone was powered down and restarted. Under General tab in settings, all settings were reset with no change to iTunes app and Music store issues. Then powered down again. Nothing. If there is a fix for the mentioned glitches in an update, that would be great. If anyone knows of anything else, please share. Thanks. -
Hi, I've been having issues with my 4s freezing and restarting itself after I updated, so I brought it to an apple store. I was told I have to restore it, and since I didn't have enough space on icloud for a full backup I took it home to do it. I don't sync my device with my computer because it's a POS, so I'm using my partner's. I installed itunes, then had to uninstall and reinstall it because it kept crashing when I opened it. After the reinstall it worked, and I went through the restore until itunes crashed either right after the restore or right at the end of the restore. Now itunes crashes as soon as I try to boot it up. I tried running the installation again to repair itunes but it still crashes. I can't uninstall itunes because I don't want to lose my backup. Is there a way to fix itunes without losing my backup? Thank you. I would call apple but I can't :(
