Itunes error 54 and mismatching artwork

I've been getting an error when trying to sync my iphone with itunes, error 54. I'm pretty sure it's not the iphone since I've gotten a new iphone since this has been happening. Everything syncs fine except the album artwork. I keep getting mismatched artwork, if I change the artwork in itunes, same artwork just different file, it will try to sync it again and sometimes that works. So frustrating while I'm trying to reimport my entire music library. Someone please help. Using Windows 8.

It is interesting that some of the songs are not synchronized, but always different, when they re-synchronization to be copied, and the phone displays, but do not play. I reinstalled iTunes, updated iOS, and even recently reinstalled Windows (8.1), the result is the same. But I tried to sync with a working computer (Windows 7 and last version iTunes), there's iTunes folder location is not in the folder with the music, so I manually add music, then all the synchronized. When I get back from work, I'll try to do the same on your home laptop and let you know the result, can someone help.

  • ITUNES COPY AND PASTE ARTWORK PROBLEM

Ive had a problem ever since I downloaded the newest itunes update and want to see if anyone else is having this issue.  I hope I can explain this accurately.
When you have the album artwork displayed on the bottom left hand of the itunes screen.  I used to be able to double click on the artwork and copy that album cover art and paste it onto another track.  Ever since Ive updated itunes a couple weeks ago, the double clicking is no longer working.  When I doubleclick, it just doesnt work and doesnt give me the option to cut or copy anymore.  So now I have no ability to cut/copy and paste artwork from one album to another.  I used to always do t his routinely without a problem.  Is anyone else having this issue or have an idea what is going on?  Did a setting accidentally change?
Im talking about the album artwork on the bottom left of the screen.  Double clicking it no longer works- doesnt give me any options.  (The music is not purchased from itunes so I often manually update the artwork)

Copy from the artwork panel (and image selection between multiple artwork) is broken on this build. You can still copy art from the artwork tab in Get Info.

  • ITunes Error and another question

So one day I was listening to my 30GB Video Ipod and it froze. I went about restarting it with the hold button, and the rest of the stuff. However, this time it started it was a bit different, it erased all of the songs on my Ipod. Or so I thought. Now when I connect it to iTunes it says that over half of my ipod is filled with "Other" but there are no songs, videos, anything listed. What's the reason for this?
Also, I tried connecting to itunes store and it says "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. You do not have permission to access the requested resource." I'm using firefox and I'm not sure why it's not letting me connect.
    Thanks guys,
    Mike

Mmm, just been back into my iPod screen and my manual setting was no longer checked! Not changed by me so the install must have overridden the settings I had on the iPod. And guess what, not responding for about the 20th time in the past hour. I have new music to put on my iPod and new videos, I want to be able to do this and I just wish I had not spotted there was an iTunes update as I would not be having these problems. I wonder how much time all the people posting here have wasted since iTunes 7 was released? I initially lost everything on my Nano when I first installed 7 but the 60 GB video was fine. I have passed that to a friend and purchased the 80 GB and with the first release of 7 that was fine (other than not being able to add the playlists mentioned above), but now with this new update I am stuck with an iPod with only a fraction of the music I want on it - that's why I spent money on buying an 80 Gb version.

  • HELP!  iTunes error and wipes out iPod

My husband just bought an iPod nano and when he is trying to move songs from iTunes an error comes up and deletes the songs already on the iPod. The error comes up at various times too. At first we thought it was a song, but I have no idea now. The error says 'Attempting to copy to the disk failed. An unknown error occured (-124)'. Then another one pops up...'iTunes; iTunes.exe-Corrupt file. The file or directory \iPod_Control\iTunes\iTunesPrefs is corrupt and unreadable. Please run Chkdsk utility. I have the same nano and mine works just fine. He is getting frustrated because of this. I cannot find where the Chkdsk utility is located either. Please help!
    Thanks
    Angie

    I don't
think I should have to do anything will iTunes since
it works fine with my iPod.
I agree that it's unlikely to be iTunes itself because yours is working fine. But software is a complicated thing and I've come to the conclusion that you should reinstall iTunes after UNINSTALLing it first. It won't take long and it may well cure the headache.
You're probably thinking that you'll lose everything in iTunes but you shouldn't. And this is easy to be certain of by backing up the iTunes database like so...
    1) In the file menu, click 'Export Library...' This backs up the internal database to a single file. Save the resulting file somewhere such as your desktop.
    2) If the song info is gone after reinstalling iTunes, simply select 'Import' from the file menu and point it to the file you saved.
None of this affects your actual song files which remain completely unchanged by the whole process.
Finally, it is actually conceivable that your husband's ipod is faulty.

  • ITunes error and will not open

I just upgraded QuickTime to 7.6. When I try to open iTunes I get the following error message:
The iTunes application could not be opened. A required iTunes component is not installed. Please repair or reinstall QuickTime.
I tried to repair iTunes by going to Add/Remove programs >> change >> repair to iTunes, but the same problem is still occurring.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks.

I am not sure about this as I am not familiar with problems on 64 bit systems.
But I would try a complete removal of iTunes and related programs followed by a phased reinstall, QUicktime then iTunes.
Note that your need the version of Quicktime that does not include iTunes.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Completely remove itune and quicktime etc
    XP
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
The other thing you should think about is incompatible codec packs.
Have you installed any of the following:
ACE & K-Lite mega codecs package, QT alternative, Storm codec, WinAVI video converter, Mpcstar, (possibly starcodec pack, 3ivx)
If so uninstall them before reinstalling Quicktime, they are know to cause problems with QUickitme.
Install QUicktime then restart your PC and check that it works.
If it does try installing iTunes.
PS you can get the 64 bit drivers for burning from the Gear site:

  • Mavericks Upgrade Caused Itunes error and won't open now

I was using the current version of itunes 11.2.1 just fine on my macbook pro (2009) until that same day I upgraded to Mavericks. Now Itunes tells me I need to be in 64 bit. I was indeed already operating in 64 bit though prior to upgrade.  I looked at the Get Info on my Itunes as the error message suggested but the 32 bit box option is NOT checked.
I went into my system report and looked at the various apps I have that used either 64 bit or 32 bit options.  Some were indeed using 64 bit, however the Itunes report showed:
    iTunes:
      Version:    11.1.5

But to show you that the computer is capable of being in the 64bit mode.... here is the report from IMovie:

I transfer all of my sheet music onto my Ipad Onsong App via Itunes on the mac when I sync.  I am dead in the water right now
I have searched High and Low online trying to find a solution.  Any suggetions as to how I can proceed?
And NO.... I don't use Time Machine (my bad... but too late now....)

hi there, ive been getting the same problem and ive tried everything in the links supplied, i have even downloaded quicktime seperately and the downloaded itune, if my windows installer open itunes then it will work but you keep have to uninstall, download and re-install, very, very inconsiderate, i have also created a post but no replies yet, apple support on phone are useless, i think it is itunes conflicting with quicktime but as you downlod both versions together, what can you do, i wouldnt mind if they conflicted wiv roxio of nero but its their own stupid programs that are doing it, i am very anoyed, tryed to work this out for 6 days now, anyway i hope you have more luck than i have had

  • ITunes 7 Errors/Glitches and Album Artwork Not Displaying on iPod

Looks like a lot of people are having problems with the new iTunes 7. After downloading iTunes7 and the new ipod updater, and having iTunes go and get the album artwork I was missing, some of the album artwork that displayed in iTunes would not display on my iPod (Gen 5). Very weird. I then tried to follow the suggestions on this board to deselect the "display album art on ipod" (in the Music tab of iPod preferences) so that I could then reselect and resynch (which supposed to fix the problem). It was very difficult to achieve this, as iTunes repeatedly had problems recognizing my ipod (even though it was sitting there in the source list). Managed to somehow get it to work, only to discover that while some missing album artwork had been added to ipod and properly displayed, others that had been there before were now gone (but were fine in iTunes)!!! And trying to repeat the deselect/reselect steps only resulted in more error messages ("The Settings were not saved for the iPod ___ because it could not be found." and "iPod update failed. disconnect and reconnect, then try again.")
I happen to have Apple Care for my iPod. Was on phone for ONE HOUR with rep who, while friendly, had no idea what was going on.
Okay Apple, I hope you're reading this, PLEASE FIX THE BUGS. I thought I escaped the problems of buggy software releases when I switched from Microsoft to Apple.
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.7) 2 GHz Intel Core Duo, 512 MB DDR2 SDRAM
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   2 GHz Intel Core Duo, 512 MB DDR2 SDRAM

    UPDATE on previous posting:
Okay, with help of previously mentioned Apple rep, I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes 7 AND restored my iPod G5. After resynching my 5000+ songs, ALL the album artwork not displaying per previous posting is now displaying. HOWEVER (and Apple employees please take note here), when I tried to change the iPod settings AT ALL (e.g., deselect Synch Movies, TV Shows, Games, etc.) and then select APPLY, same problem!! So it appears this is where the problem lies. Somehow making any changes to these options and then hitting Apply causes the error ("...iPod could not be found" etc.) My workaround (since I am not intending to use iPod for movies or TV shows or games) is to change the Main Menu listings in Settings so I don't have to see them.
APPLE: PLEASE STUDY AND FIX! Thank you....

  • Album artwork disappeared after an iTunes error... how can I get I back?

I've been using iTunes for years and out of a clear blue sky I get this error message, "iPhone cannot be synced because the sync session failed to start." After trying a few different things I find a fix that works- turn my iPhone all the way off and then turn it back on. Then when I added a new mp3 song to my iTunes Library and tried to sync it to my phone, the album artwork refused to show up on my phone even though it shows in iTunes. Nothing I did to fix it worked. I tried to add another mp3 song. Same problem. Then as I tried the various 'fixes' I read about here in Apple Support Communities, it made my problem worse! At first only the two new mp3 songs I added were missing album artwork. Now half of the songs I purchased from iTunes are missing album artwork! To add to that, many of the songs that have album artwork at all have the wrong artwork.
    Stuff that didn't work:
Erasing all the music on my phone and resyncing made it worse
My manually added album artwork is already ID3 tagged v2.4
I have never checked the box that converts higher bitrate songs
Manually adding artwork and using iTunes' "get album artwork" feature
    Restoring iPhone from a backup
I am using a MacBook Pro with OS X Snow Leopard version 10.6.8.
I have iOS 6.1.4 on my iPhone 5 and I have not updated anything for the past two months.
    PLEASE HELP.

    You dont have this:
Check your iTunes > Preferences... (or in Windows iTunes: Edit > Preferences...) > General tab > is Books checked?

  • Last iTunes update 10.2.2.12 deleted all music files and all artwork

Within the last month I got a notice to upgrade Apple iTunes and Quicktime software which I did not thinking anything about it.  I have used myiPod since then but not in iTunes at all and no synching.  I have about 225 CD's loaded in iTunes plus some other music from Home Sharing that my son/daughter bought with our account in the iTunes store.  I recently got a new double CD requested for my birthday and decided to load it into iTunes and on my computer.  It had problems automatically recognizing the CD so I checked all the settings and they were correct rebooted my computer and one CD loaded not the other and had to reboot again to get the second to load.  But also I noticed ALL ALBUM ARTWORK was gone.  Both the album artwork I got from Apple and the Album artwork I loaded (the bulk of my CD's are older CD's so the Apple iTunes store does not have the artwork typically) was missing.  I thought that was a little odd but iTunes has done this before after updates but usually ONLY with the album artwork I loaded being missing.  In any case I tried Get Artwork via the iTunes sote and got error messages that Album artwork could not load.  I also then tried to load the artwork manually and iTunes music library rejected it.  Then I tried to play a song listed.  It said the song is not there.  Now all of my music is listed in my iTunes library, but apparently NONE of it is actually there.  I go to where iTuens Music Library and sure enough only the last 4 CD's are there.  Apparently the last Apple Update deleted all the music files, and all the artwork with it, yet still lists them in iTunes but they are nowhere to be found.  Before I go into my backup files on an external hard drive, it appears others are having this issue too, and I am wondering if anyone has actually got a simple fix from Apple or not.  .

Follow up - I could not locate any of the files on my "c" drive of my laptop.  Realizing that I am gonna probably have to reload everything from my external hard drive backup I went ahead and just started the process.  I uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes software, which turned out to NOT be required at all as when I reopened iTunes all of the music files were again listed just as before but none of them were actually there or the artwork.  I then copied all the music files/folders over into the iTunes music folder and about 90% of them then showed up with about 98% of the artwork.  The other 10% just had to be matched up as the music was there but iTunes was not looking in the right location for it now, most likely different folder names.  So after about 6 hours I am back to having everything back on the computer and reorganized again.  I am now going to back up again (in multiple locations - 2 hard drives and I may add a flash drive backup too) and then do the inevitable scary Apple sync.  I find it funny that with other company's software that syncs, it actually syncs, where Apple sync software seems to look for items to delete from one source or the other during its sync. They really should rename it because it is not a true "sync".  In any case I was happy and surprised to find that about 98% of the artwork came through with the music which never used to happen in the past, so that saved a lot of time to say the least.  To anyone who ever does anything with Apple or Windows software updates, all I can say from years of experience now is backup, backup, backup, and backup prior to updating.

  • ITunes error 3256 and 3150

I just upgraded to itunes 10 and tried to download a few movies and an app.  Everytime it starts to download I get the error 3256 on the App and 3150 on the movies.  From what I've seen it is a router issue, I have reset the router, turned of my wireless and connected directly to the Ethernet connection, nothing seems to work.  Any one know what I can try next.  If it is a download speed issue, it could be as we have a satelite internet provider and speeds are generally slow on a saturday night due to too much usage.  Help!

    Dan,
I have now got AirTunes working perfectly again.
The only solution for me was to reinstall iTunes 7 (vers 7.7.1). I had this as a Time Machine back-up. I do not know if it is possible to download it from Apple's site if you do not have a back-up.
If you do have a copy then, once you've re-installed it, it will not recognise your current iTunes library as it will have been amended to be compatible with iTunes 8 only. You therefore need to change the library file in the iTunes folder (/Users/username/Music/iTunes/) by replacing it with a previous, pre iTunes 8, version of the library. You should have one in the Previous iTunes Libraries folder within the iTunes folder. Simply drag the current iTunes 8 library folder to the desktop for safe keeping and drag one of the old libraries to the iTunes folder. Then rename this old library " iTunes Library ". Then open iTunes 7 and everything should be working fine - including AirTunes. If you have added a lot of stuff to your iTunes library since upgrading to iTunes 8, then this will not now appear in iTunes 7. In order to get it all in quickly, simply use the 'Add to Library' command in the File pull down menu in iTunes and select the iTunes Music folder (/Users/username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music). I clicked ignore to the create copy dialogue box that appeared and iTunes then spent about a minute or so indexing things and dealing with artwork for the 6,000 or so songs that I had in the folder.

I am having to recreate my itunes library and do not understand why prior album artwork appeared in my older library but not the new library?  Is there some way to scan itunes for missing album artwork?

do you have a strongly recommended default "managed" library (the iPhoto preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library is in its checked state) or a referenced library - you have unchecked that option?
It sounds like you have a referenced library and are now experiancing one of the very siginificant drawbacks of a referenced library and one of the many reasons they are strongly not recommended
Also note that iPhoto '11 may use alises in the originals folder as part of the upgrade
It is important that we understand exactly what you have and what is not sorking - what error messages you are getting
You must NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure of content of the iPhoto library - there are no user servicable parts in it  --  and you can not rebuild yoru librtary - only iPhoto ir iPhoto Library Manager - http://www.fatcatsoftware.com/iplm/ -  can rebuild a library unless you are a SQL programmer and understand the structure that iPhoto uses

  • Itunes error (-609) when attempting to download artwork

I'm receiving the following message when attempting to download album artwork:
Artwork for XXXXXX could not be found. An unknown error occurred (-609)
MY first thought was that it was due to the artwork being unavailable, but i deleted the artwork for an album which i had previously downloaded. When i tried to re-download the artword, same problem. I can download track information, though.
This has occurred since updating to itunes 8.0.1.11
using 64 bit Vista. Never had this problem before...

I installed V8.2.0.23 created a new library. Added one album. Clicked on Get Album Artwork. Got unknown error (-609). Spent hours trauling the web to find a solution. Logging into iTunes store and signing out and restarting iTunes and the PC did NOT fix the problem.
Then I installed V6.2.1.6 only to find I still get the same problem.
Interestingly, if I run the diagnostics from the Help menu it tells me Internet Connection Failed. (which is bollox - because I have been browsing the web for hours to try and find a solution) But I wonder if it is linked.
I can't beleive how naff iTunes is.
Does anyone have a solution that actually works?
