ITunes Freezes at the End of a CD Import?

Hi,
Been having trouble importing CD's into iTunes. The first few worked fine, but now at the very end of the last song on every CD that's being imported, the software stops responding. I can force iTunes to quit, and it restarts fine. When the software is restarted, all of the tracks except for the last one on each CD are present in the library. I can't get the last song on the disc's imported. Even when I restart the software and try to import the single track, the same thing happens.
I did the "Run CD Diagonstics" thing under the help menu, and it says that my drives are fine. Any suggestions on how to stop this annoying problem?
Thanks in advance...

I had that happen to me today, too! But my file was in the "purchased" list when I checked--even though it didn't complete the download correctly. When I re-started iTunes, it redownloaded. Have you tried restarting iTunes to see if this finds the song?
If it's truly missing, you can contact the store and ask to redownload the file. Use the links inside the iTunes store to contact them. They should have a record of your purchase.
On Edit: I see that you did re-start iTunes. You might need to contact the store to get a credit.

  • Why is my project freezing at the end of each video demo?

I've created a project with three different video demos. I've done all the editing and have the video slides in the right order, however, each video demo freezes at the end instead of continuing on to the next video demo.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Jaimie

Are you positive that it's not just downloading the next video in the background and that's why it just looks like it's stalled?  What happens if you just let it sit there for a minute or two?  Does the next slide then start playing?

I just purchased a 120gb iPod classic 6th generation from a friend. I have the latest iTunes installed and the software on the iPod is also current. My problem is whenever I'm syncing the iPod and iTunes freezes between the 250- 300th song... I have to manually reset the iPod for the iTunes to run correctly, but then my music isn't added and iTunes tells me I have to restore the iPod... I've done this numerous times only to no avail... Someone please help!!!

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

  • Strange digital artifacts at the end of each song importing via iTunes

I've tried a few variations on archive searches and wasn't able to find an answer to this: In ripping some of my CD's into iTunes (either Apple Lossless or WAV) I've been getting some very odd, brief digital artifacts at the end of each songs on a CD. This sounds like two or three seconds of an audio tape on fast forward. It only seems to happen on new releases (I cannot think of any older CD's it's occurred on). I just got a copy of Mary Gauthier's new album (great CD by the way) and it happened on that one, for example. I tried ripping it multiple times in Apple Lossless, and WAV (always in iTunes) and each and every time it created files where this strange artifact existed at the end of every song. I play the CD I ripped the files from and the artifact is not there. I have several CD's, most of them recent releases over the past five years, that do the exact same thing. Otherwise everything else functions perfectly an the bulk of my 700+ CD library has imported without a hiccup. Is this some kind of anti-piracy technology...or do I simply have some setting off in my itunes preferences (Error-Correction is on, WAV or Apple Lossless is always set to Automatic, have experimented with importing to startup disk and external disk-same results). The artifacts seem to always sound the same too...they never vary, except that they sound different from song-to-song, but the same if say, the first cut is played over again. They are always 2 seconds plus or minus, and always at the end of a cut (the final 2 seconds or so). They do transfer verbatim to my iPod, and also play via iTunes through my stereo.
Anyone have any clues what this might be?

As a follow up, I went to the Genius Bar for a bowl of Mensa Stew, but only got some tepid broth. Here's what transpired:
The girl I was speaking with suggested that the artifact was the software misinterpreting information between the cuts. It was only a theory. She had not heard of any other incidents to relay. First she suggested I rip as MP3's. I explained that wasn't an option for me. She listened to a few cuts on a CD I'd brought with, or rather the ends of the cuts and confirmed there was a problem with the rip. She went through my settings, and asked if I'd tried it with Error Correction turned off. I explained I hadn't and that I preferred to use it. She suggested attempting to rip one of the cuts with it turned off just to see how it did. We did that and no artifact was there. So her 'solution' was to either leave error-correction turned off always, or turn it off for those problem CD's that produce the artifact (I'd estimate about 5% do on my laptop). This did not explain why it was doing it, nor why my g5 tower, which is running a carbon-copied system with all the same iTunes settings, does not produce the artifact with Error-Correction turned on.
I'd be interested to hear of anyone else who's been having problems importing hi-rez files in iTunes. I know of at least one other instance where the artifact produced (on a MacBook) is dis-similar to mine in that it takes the form of brief electronic beeps moving from channel to channel.
    Anyone else?

  • Windows 7 x64 Syncing Never Completes. iTunes Crashes At The End

I have had my ipod touch 3g for half a year now. First I used to use it on 32bit Windows 7, but recently I upgraded my machine and run 64bit Windows 7. It has been running well for the past few months but all of a sudden I have been getting a lot of error messages as well as iTunes not being able to complete syncing.
Everything starts normally, but iTunes crashes right near the END, after all the files have been copied. You can almost smell the "Sync complete, ok to disconnect" text. Please check image.
    http://i44.tinypic.com/25jupli.png
If I let it be, then Windows eventually gives you a iTunes has crashed dialog box.
I have tried EVERYTHING. Have restored my ipod dozens of times. Have tried 9.1, 9.03 and 9.02 both in 32bit and 64bit variants. Nothing seems to work.
Funny thing is, if I go back to my old machine with the 32bit Windows 7, the ipod syncs just fine.
So I am guessings it's either a problem with my machine, or some problem with iTunes and 64bit Windows 7.
    Please help!

I've had the exact same problem since the last update. It just keeps saying "Sync in Progress" and nothing changes until I stop it. I've tried resetting, reinstalling, etc.
    I have noticed three things:
It is sync'ing at least partially...
I unchecked some photo files and it took those photo files off. But now I've added them back and it won't put any photo files onto my iPhone.
If I check/uncheck iTunes U then hit apply it will actually say "Sync Complete" but it still hasn't put my pictures back on the phone.
Also...just something that I don't like...apparently the ability to mark a podcast as "played" or "watched" is no longer available as an option at the podcast level and they have to be cleared at the individual episode level...that's totally annoying cause now I have to go through and "mark as played" for each podcast.
    Any ideas?

  • Itunes Freezing - HERES THE FIX

The problem is with the firmware upgrade to 1.0.2
If your Itunes freezes, or explorer etc etc follow these instructions to fix the problem.
    http://spr33.co.uk/wp/archives/downgrading-apple-ipod-firmware-102-101
**PLEASE NOTE IF YOU DOWNGRADE THE FIRMWARE YOU'LL LOSE YOUR MUSIC**
It's worked for me, the files are virus free and it's got it back to normal. Like the dude says, they should have tested this a bit more before giving it to millions of people.

I am assuming this is incorrect in these directions:
    (delete iPod_24.1.0.2.ipsw then download it?)
    4, Delete the files ‘iPod_24.1.0.2.ipsw’ and ‘iPod_24.1.0.2.ipsw.signature’.
5, If you don’t already have ‘iPod_24.1.0.2.ipsw’ and ‘iPod_24.1.0.1.ipsw.signature’, download them here: Signature | Firmware

  • Last software update of OS X Lion: the system freezes before the end.

I was doing the last update of OS X Lion on a MacBook Pro (10.7.3). Before the end of the process, the system freezed. The only solution was the off button of the desktop. But after it was impossible to open it again. I had to restore OS X from the Time Machine backup. Can you help me? What is the problem? What do I have to do?

    Just fixed this myself.
SWUPD is expecting a directory within the one you chose, called "html".
    Example: /Volumes/XSAN/SWUPD/html
It will not create "html" if the directory doesn't exist.
Create the folder "html" then in terminal do this:
    sudo chown -R _softwareupdate:_softwareupdate /path/to/the/folder
    Example: sudo chown -R _softwareupdate:_softwareupate /Volumes/XSAN/SWUPD
##do not include/html. the -R means recursive and forces the same ownership on all contained directories.

  • H264 freeze at the end

    Hello,
I am currently in charge produced a web interface in Flex to
    view live video.
The video stream from is divided into 3 seconds video and
transcoded in H264 before to be read by my player.
But I just see on a video H264 there is a little freeze on
the video about 1 second before the end. This problem is quite
annoying because it generates a gradual shift in relation to live.
The freeze is really small but sufficient to generate a gap
    on live
    Thx for your help

  • TestStand execution freeze at the end on Win XP

    Hello,
I have a problem with TestStandv3.0, when logged in as a operator. TestStand freeze execution at the end of the test. When run step by step, I observed the execution freeze after "TestReport Callback" exactly after the execution of the "Clear Generating Report Msg" in the cleanup of TestReport Callback.
Surprisingly the problem didn't appeared, when logged-in with administrator previlages. I have another machine running same software, but with WIN2000 and same previlages no problem. Current previlages that I had for operator usr is power user, little bit down the administrator. I have also tried fulla cces to NI folder in program files, but in vain.
Has any body faced the same problem or know any solution to this problem
    Thanks
    Mama007...

I have tried to look more into what is causing the problem. It's not a particular stepthats causing the problem. Its the TestReport sequence causing the trouble. I just step through when test failed and unitll execution enters TestReport sequence. Then I pointed out to END with out executiing  single step/cleanup. The execution freeze when it tried to enter the main sequence back. So is it some thing to do with parameters information causing trouble???
    Any ideas...
    Thanks

  • I'm trying to import a cd and it freezes at the end of the first song

help, has anyone else had this problem. I've tried different cds, but the same thing happens.
    macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

The iPod type seems irrelevant at the moment, as presumably what you mean is that when you import a CD into iTunes, there is no information about the songs etc.
iTunes will name the songs as track 1, track 2 etc if iTunes is unable to contact the Gracenote database and get the information about the CD.
Have you been able to get the information about other CDs previously, but not any more? Or is it just this one CD? In other words, do you know how this is supposed to work, or are you a new user?
If you do know how it works, can you see iTunes attempt to get the information about the CD? (A small box saying Gracenote should briefly appear in the top left corner of your iTunes window shortly after iTunes sees the CD.) Are there any error messages?
The artwork is a separate issue.

  • When trying to export a slideshow from iphoto it is freezing at the end. what could be the issue?

We have a slideshow we created in iphoto. How do I burn it in idvd. I cannot get the export to finish, it stalls towards the end. We have less than 200 photos. We were able to do it once now it will not complete the export process. A ny help would be appreciative.

    Hi barbara10,
so far I do not know "Live Media Type", I guess Export your slideshow for "HD1080p" or for Codec: H264
    should be OK for iDVD.
This belongs to German Version of Aperture.
Did you create the slideshow? Was it a external slideshow?
    Hope this helps
    Uwe
