ITunes Import CD "Replace existing" not working as expected.

To replicate problem:
Import CD using AAC encoder / iTunes Plus setting. Audio files are created. E.g. "foo.m4a" 15MB in size
Eject CD.
Change import settings to Apple Lossless Encoder.
Re-import CD using new settings.
Dialog box appears stating songs already imported and asks if user wants to replace existing songs and import again.
Select "Replace Existing" button.
iTunes imports CD again and creates file "foo 1.m4a" 45MB in size and keeps existing file "foo.m4a".
This is not how I would expect "Replace Existing" to behave. I'm expecting the original file to be deleted and replaced by the newly imported file.
However I'm thinking that iTunes keeps the existing file because it has all of the metadata regarding play counts, etc and iTunes refers to this even though only the new version of the file shows on iTunes. If so, it's one way to fill up your hard drive.
Any thoughts would be appreciated before I submit a bug report to Apple.

Still happening even with the latest version of iTunes. Appears to be random - sometimes it overwrites, sometimes it creates secondary copies. Frustrating!

Checking to see if files exist not working as expected.
Hey, so I've set up a script that determines the artist playing on iTunes and sets the background image to a preselected picture of them. I want to expand this to allow different pictures of the artists, and after a few attempts, decided to use a time based system. However, some artists have 2 images (named Artist1.jpg and Artist2.jpg), whilst others only have one (Artist.jpg). I can get the scripting right for if all artists have 2 images, yet am having problems with the system determining if certain files exist.
who is the artist playing, and myNum is either 1 or 2, and changes based on the time, both set earlier in the script and verified to work.

It should work if you copy and paste it.
Please note the combined single and double quotes. Don't put a space between them. You may not need the single quotes if you have control over the path. Most people would opt for 'quoted form of' but I prefer concise code. -
Import-CSV | New-ADGroup not working as expected with Powershell
I've looked all over and I can't seem to find an explanation for why this command works perfectly with New-ADUser but not with New-ADGroup.
These are commands I'm using:
For Users:
Import-CSV C:\Imports\adusers.csv | New-ADUser
This works great. All 500+ users imported with all fields.
For Groups:
Import-CSV C:\Imports\adgroups.csv | New-ADGroup
Only the first line is run correctly. Then I get this error: The specified group already exists
Here is a snip of my CSV for Groups:
Name,DisplayName,Description,GroupCategory,GroupScope,Path
DB Users,DB Users,Group for DB users,Global,"OU=Security Groups,OU=ABC Users,DC=domain,DC=local"
Accounting,Accounting,Access to the Accounting folder,Security,Global,"OU=Security Groups,OU=ABC Users,DC=domain,DC=local"
Am I missing something here or is this not possible?

The manual mode to transfer music to my iTune from my iPhone does not work as described. When I click on Manually manage... it displays the warning message that all music on my iPhone will be erased and replaced by iTune music.

I have an mp3 DVD with episodes of Gunsmoke. iTunes imports them, but does not sort them correctly by date or episode. One file name is GS 52-04-26 001 Billy the Kid.mp3. iTunes sorts them by month/day/year. How can I fix that?
The weird thing is, it worked before. I encoded all the videos previously and had them all listed and didn't encounter this problem, but I noticed I'd forgotten to decomb/detelecine the videos so I deleted everything and re-encoded it all. AFter filling the tags out and setting poster frames again I was thinking of making life easier by just pasting the same artwork for every episode, so I did, but didn't like the results so I deleted it again (I selected every video, used Get Info and pasted the artwork that way).
I think it was after this that the problem started to occur. In any case I've been through every episode and made sure the name, series, episode and episode id fields are all filled in with incremental values and they are. I even made sure the Sort Name field was filled in on every video. But this didn't work either.
So, thinking another restart was needed I deleted every video again. Re-encoded them all, again. Set the tags for every video and poster frame again. Finished it all off nicely, checked cover flow and was highly annoyed to find it was STILL showing the same two pieces of art work for every video as shown in that image I posted.
Ultimately, I wouldn't care so much that cover flow is screwing up like this as I always intended to sort by program anyway so it would only ever display one piece of artwork for an entire series of videos, however where-as when it was working it picked the artwork for the first episode of a series to display, its instead picking one of the latter episodes. I can't seem to find any way of choosing what artwork I want displayed. -
ITunes 12.1.1 does NOT work with Windows - Fix??

I had issue after issue with the latest iTunes update (12.1.1) not working on my windows 7. It simply would not lunch when clicking on the shortcut to open.
After a fair bit of searching I found this alternative version which seemed to do the trick and now it works:
iTunes 12.1.1.4 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - iTunes64Setup.exe(2015-02-18)The "for older video cards" installer - which, like most prior "64 bit" versions of iTunes, is actually a 32 bit application with a 64 bit installer - may be a useful fallback if the full 64 bit version does not install or run correctly. Although 12.1.1.4 is a major improvement over 12.1.0.71, there are clearly still some lurking incompatibilities with some 64 bit Windows systems/components. It is, however, a little misleading to say that "iTunes 12.1.1 does NOT work with Windows" - in many cases it works fine without switching to the alternative version. I have the full 64-bit version of 12.1.1.4 running on three systems - two Windows 7 and one Windows 8.1 - no issues with either installation or operation on any of them.

iTunes 9 Home Sharing does not work on Windows 7 x64.
Getting the following error message:
Home sharing could not be activated because this computer is not authorized for the account "iTunes account." Please authorize this computer and try again.
This is a bug since my computer is authorized in iTunes and there is only 2 computer authorized for my iTunes account, so I have 3 more left till I should get this message.
I've just upgraded my iPhone to OS 3.1 using it this morning.
Please advise.

I can see and play music from the iTunes installation on my Windows 7 machine, but I CANNOT access the library to copy songs from this computer to other computers on my network.
YES, I have enabled "Home Sharing" using my iTunes account. NO, I have not authorized more than 5 computers on this account.
I believe this to be a Windows 7 related issue, as Home Sharing worked as advertised when I was using Vista (before I upgraded to Windows 7).
I CAN set up Home Sharing on two other (host) computers in my home network and it works. These computers are XP and a MacBook Pro. I CANNOT access my Windows 7 machine x64 to COPY music from one autorized library to another. Please help!!!
P.S. - I have attempted to get this to work by turning OFF my McAfee firewall. Windows firewall is disabled.

Import of photos is not working. Moreover 'photos' app is not getting closed, it says 'closing all libraries'. Even it is stopping shutdown/restart of my mac.
Next time you open the photos application hold down both of the keys suggested and then launch the application in the usual way. If you do this you will be presented with the opportunity to repair your library.

I attempted to perform the itunes update on two different PCs. Itunes will no longer open and prompted me to reinstall itunes. The reinstall did not work after several attempts and I received an error: "Runtime error R6034. An application has made an attempt to load the C Runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team for more information." Has anyone else had this issue? How can I resolve it?
I've been having the same exact problem this morning, and from the looks of it a lot of other people are posting about this issue, so I don't know if it's maybe something wrong with the download but I'm just relieved that it seems to be that instead of a corruption issue with my windows installation. I'm just wondering how long this will take to be resolved.

Since updating to itunes 11, Home Sharing is not working.
I am running Windows 7, 64-bit.
All mobile devices are up to date with ios, including 2 apple tvs (2 & 3), iphone 4s and 3gs, ipad1 & ipad2.
I've rebooted twice, turned home sharing off, then signed back in. Still nothing. Rebooted the mobile devices. No joy.
Curiously, wi-fi sync is also not working - the devices are not showing up in itunes unless I plug them in.

Kept looking and found a suggestion in a forum to disable IPv6, apparently iTunes for Windows doesn't work well with IPv6. So I did, and after several rebbots and tests, both Home Sharing and Apple TV 1st Gen are working. To disable IPv6, follow this link

So far IPv6 is just being rolled out, and it will be a few years until everybody abandons IPv4 and go only with IPv6, so you shouldn't have any issues disabling it. And by then iTunes -I hope- should be fixed to work correctly with IPv6. Try it, and if you find any issues you can always enable IPv6 using another MS Fix it program, or manually reverse what you did

Trying to install iTunes on Windows 8.1. Apple Application Support was not found. Error 2. Uniinstall iTunes and try again, does not work. Is there a fix?
Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?

I downloaded the newest verion of itunes. Now quicktime is not working...error 2096. I have uninstalled and reinstalled itunes. still nothing. i have read countless other people having the same issue. What is the problem?????

That one is often a compatibility mode problem. Try the following document, only be sure that none of the boxes in the compatibility mode tab are checked (not just the compatibility mode box itself):

The message function on my Ipad just quit working. I was using it while in Mexico and it just quit. I have come home and synced my Ipad with Itunes and function still does not work. How do I get this function to work again?
When I use find file http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/30073/find-file (which does tend to find files that "Finder" can't), it's not coming up with any other itunes library files that have been modified in the past week, which I know it would have been - unfortunately, I don't have a very recent backup of the hard drive. It would be a few months old so it wouldn't have the complete library on it....any ideas? I'm wondering if restarting the computer might help but have been afraid to do so in case it would make it harder to recover anything...I was looking at this thread https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4211589?start=0&tstart=0 in the hopes that it might have a helpful suggestion but it's definitely a different scenario.
