  • Network stalling in itunes

Each time I have tried to listen to a song in the music store I get a notice that the network stalled and the song selected keeps rebuffing. This started 3 days ago after downloading itunes 4.9

This is an update to my post on Sept. 1. Since then i downloaded and installed the itunes 5.0.1 maintenance update. Unfortunately my problem persists: itunes still stalls and starts rebuffering whenever I try and play an internet stream; this normally starts about 20 secs into the stream. plus the rebuffering attempt is almost never successful. the only way I can listen to these mp3 live streams is by using another Mac Tiger compatible mp3 player. One change from my previous post is that my other media players are now working ok - itunes is the only problem. I cannot be the only person having this problem Help!!

  • Network Stalled in iTunes Radio

Okay... since the latest iTunes update, I'm having horrendous experiences with iTunes radio. No matter what station I select, the feed is interrupted every few seconds with "Network Stalled"... "Rebuffering Stream."
I have plenty of RAM and bandwidth. All other software is current. And I regularly run "Repair Disk Permissions." I have also recently cleaned up the hard drive using Disk Warrior. Firmware on my Airport is also updated and current. I have even quit using iChat and iDisk, but the problem has not gone away.
I seem to recall someone posting solutions to these issues a year or so ago, but any helpful suggestions here would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Hi -
I had the same problem. This may sound weird but I shut down our computer and disconnected the DSL line. I reconnected the line a minute later and restarted the computer. I'm not getting the "Network stalled" messages anymore.
Hope that works for you as well.

  • Kill the Network Stalling popup!!!

Does anyone know how to stop iTunes from throwing up the "Network Stalled" popup? It’s absolutely, completely, and infinitely infuriating. I simply don't care if the network is having an issue. I especially don't want a popup coming up randomly while I’m trying to do other more important things….like work. I loose window focus on what I’m working on and either have to wait for the window to close or grab my mouse to click back on what I was doing. All the while I’ve lost my place and wasted time on something I can’t change or fix. And, to add insult to injury, when the window comes up, the specific focus is on the “Stop” button. Therefore, if I’m typing and the window pops up before I can stop, my key presses cause the “Stop” button to be clicked and iTunes stops playing. It would be fine if the message displayed in any of the iTunes status message areas within the application. But, it’s completely pointless and counterproductive for anyone to endure the current behavior.

As an addendum to this post, hopefully Tech staff gets messages from this forum: ANYTIME iTunes has a dialog box it Steals the Window Focus. This should only happen when a severe error will affect the entire computer. I have had multiple dialog boxes dismissed without being read becuase I was typing along and iTunes stole the window focus and the space bar dismissed a box before I knew what happened. I then had to use the mouse to go back to the application where I was actually getting some work done. Please fix this in the next release!

I keep getting the error 306 cannot connect to the iTunes Network when downloading songs on iTunes. I've tried all the troubleshooting steps from the forums and my technical issues are still unresolved. I have Windows 7. Please help!!

iTunes Store loads partially or returns "Error 306" or "Error 10054"
Proxies, parental control settings and software, security or filtering software, or a bad iTunes Store cache can cause this.
To address proxies, Remove Internet Options proxy settings  ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1490 ) and connect to the Internet without a proxy.
    To reset iTunes Store cache:
In iTunes, choose iTunes > Preferences (Mac) or Edit > Preferences (PC).
    Click the Advanced tab.
    Click the "Reset cache" button.
Click OK and see if the issue is resolved.
    Adjust Parental Controls in iTunes:
    Open iTunes.
    Access iTunes preferences:
On a Mac: From the iTunes menu, choose Preferences.
On a Windows PC: From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
    Click the Parental Controls tab.
    Remove restrictions on Parental Controls.
For more information on parental controls or content filtering software, see iTunes 10.5 for Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store.

  • ITunes network Share-name ambiguity

I have several client PCs (all WinXP Pro SP3) on a server Domain network. Each client PC runs iTunes.
Because the iTunes network Share-name is the same as the user's PC Login-name, if you use the same Login-name on all the PCs (as I do) there is no way of differentiating their iTunes Libraries when using an enabled app such as iPhone "Remote".
For example, all Libraries are displayed as "roger's Library" on the iPhone "Remote" app. If the Libraries were displayed along with their Server-name, e.g. "SERVERNAME1: roger's Library", "SERVERNAME2: roger's Library" etc then this ambiguity would be resolved.
Does anyone know how I might resolve this and get iTunes to broadcast a fully-qualified Share-name? I need to use the same Login-name on each of the PCs because of email, profile etc considerations.
    Thanks
    Matt

You want something like this Doug's Apple Script that will work for Windows, it sounds like:
    http://dougscripts.com/itunes/itinfo/ituneslibrarymanager.php
iTunes does a poor job of managing multiple libraries.
Unfortunately, all you can do is contact Apple:

  • ITunes installation stalls and won't finish

When trying to install the latest iTunes it stalls about 4 bars from the end, and I can't say what it is stalling on because the Status of the install is blank.
I have done everything to delete all of iTunes/Quicktime/Bonjour/etc and the program and Windows files and then tried again, but no luck, the installation continues to hang.
I need to get this fixed because I am getting an iPhone next week and need to be able to access iTunes, so any help is much appreciated.

The exact thing happened me last night. I was updating my iTunes software with a download from the Apple site. I tried three times and it stopped at the same place each time.
Could this have something to do with virus detection or spyware detection software? Would turning one or both off help?
    Thanks.

  • Network Stalls When Downloading A File

    Hi everyone.
I have been experiencing this trouble:
Whenever I start downloading a file, the whole network stalls, I cannot browse websites, or download other files until the last one finishes.
I have a dual band network, with both G and N devices.
Hope someone could clarify this for me.

I have this same problem. Any download of any type from anywhere grinds everything else to a halt. Meaning I can't browse the internet or basically do anything else when a download is in progress.
My PC is on the same network connection with no problem. So I do not think it is my router. I think it is because the Mac Mini is leaving no overheads to do anything else and just maxes itself out using up everything available.
    Can anyone help me out?

  • ITunes Network Diags pass, but Restore fails with Error 3014 and recommended solutions risky and unhelpful

We've had routine OS updates fail recently (weeks apart)
on both an iPad mini and a 5th Gen iPod. The devices ended up in recovery mode
and we had to Restore them to factory defaults.
That is bad enough, but it gets worse...
We started iTunes, plugged in the bricked device, and were
prompted to do a Restore. Clicked OK. It ran for a while, completed the
extraction step, and the failed with unknown error 3014.
We searched support, and there is plenty written about
unknown error 3014 when doing a Restore. Most point to network connectivity
issues and things like blocked ports or conflicting security software. Sure, I
can see how those could cause problems that may be outside Apple’s control
(although doing everything over HTTPS would eliminate the issue.)
BUT, iTunes has built in network diagnostics (Help ->
Run Diagnostics… -> Network connectivity tests). Shouldn’t these tell me if
there is a connectivity problem with iTunes? The support articles all seem to
tell you to manually dive into all kinds of low level  things such as hosts files.
iTunes network diagnostics all passed, but out of
desperation, we still tried shutting off our anti-virus (Avast) and firewall
(Comodo), connecting directly to the internet without our router blocking or
filtering anything, editing the hosts file, trying a different PC, etc. as
instructed. It was all a wild goose chase – nothing helped, and Apple’s
instructions exposed us to security risks (attaching directly to the Internet
with no router, firewall or ant-virus software!)
    I can’t be 100% sure because I still had our anti-virus
SW and firewall turned off, but what seemed to finally work was to just try
dozens of times until iTunes and Apple’s servers finally worked!
After dozens of tries on two PCs over two days, the last
thing I did was to turn off our anti-virus and firewall again, started iTunes,
plugged in the device, attempted a Restore when prompted, retried when it
failed. Then closed and reopened iTunes while leaving the device attached, and
Restored when prompted. That one time, we got lucky and it worked. I’m sure
many people really have blocked ports, etc. but I can’t see how that could explain
our problems. Hopefully this posting will help someone.
    ** Apple – If you’re reading this ** Please (1) find out
why we and others in the forums report persistent 3014 errors that seem to
magically go away if you retry often enough over a long enough period of time,
and (2) make sure the iTunes network diagnostics are truly thorough, and then
direct customers to them rather than making them dig through port mapping
settings and hosts files. Thanks for your consideration.

No, this should be the number one thing you are concerned about.
Until you get this sorted, there is a good chance you may simply lose everything.
Do you hav ean external drive?
If so copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder to the external drive.
Then you can delete /Music/iTunes/ empty the trash and recover this space.
Do this then Apple menu > Software update.
    Restart the computer
    Then post back.

  • Itunes network connection reset (error -3253)?

OK...I'm just about over iTunes. I have been purchasing more and more songs on my iPad from the iTunes store and then when I start up iTunes on my home PC, it starts to download the songs, as it is supposed to, locally to my hard drive. However, every single song does not complete downloading before a message comes up that the itunes network connection was reset. The song in Downloads indicates "err = -3253.
Based on various discussions, I have added all of the apple sites to my security software (webroot), uninstalled and reinstalled itunes (pointless since it never really uninstalls), deselected "Allow simultaneous downloads", looked to see if I have conflicting services running (I don't), and pulled out several hairs clicking the OK button everytime the error comes up and clicking Resume All....
Ultimately, I will get songs to download completely, but there really is no excuse for this.
I  run Windows 7 Professional and have Verizon FIOS as my service provider.
Anyone else experiencing this (I've had this happening for well over a month now)? Anyone have a solution?
    Thanks!

This started happening to me about three days ago and meant iTunes Match was not working and nor was it possible to download updates to apps.  The internet was otherwise fine on my computer.
I did a few things which did not work:
    1. Sign out of the Apple Store and log back in
    2. Turn off iTunes Match and restart it
    3. Remove uneeded items from the start up menu
    4. Restart cable modem
    5. Restart Apple Time Capsule
    6. Restart iTunes
    7. Restart Computer
    8. Update DNS settings from Google's to my ISP
I then did the following which did work:
    1. Update DNS setting to Open DNS (as in James Robert's post above) and hit Apply
I only updated the settings in the network system preferences panel against my Ethernet connection.  I did not amend anything in the Time Capsule or Modem.
Frankly fed up that so much tinkering is needed at such a detailed level.

  • Wi-fi iTunes download stalled

Tried to download a song via the iTunes wi-Fi button... it is just stalled and keeps logging on trying to downoad.. it asks for my password for iTunes... I enter it but it just stalls... and because it keeps trying to download, it eats up the battery.
How do I fix this? I Would like to download songs over my wi-fi network.
    Meantime...
How do I delete that song that is in the downloads area of the iPhone?

    Figured it out.
After registering my iPod Touch through iTunes, I did not attempt to download any music directly through iTunes onto my computer. All attempts were through the wi-fi store on my iPod Touch. So, I downloaded The Reminder, by Feist, through my computer and it worked just fine. However, prior to downloading I was put through some legal jargon/user agreement blah blah, that I had to "agree" to to continue. Once I did that, the downloading began. Subsequently I went into the wi-fi iTunes on my iPod Touch, and successfully downloaded a song.
I can only assume that the issue was that I had to first agree to the user agreement document through iTunes on my PC before I could actually download music through the wi-fi/touch version.
Let me know if this helps out.
