ITunes re-copies music library to iPod on every sync
I recently migrated my music collection (well, my MP3s, anyway) to an NAS drive. Then I cleared out my library in iTunes and added the new folder. Now, every time I sync my iPod, it re-copies the entire MP3 library. Why?

Do you have the option checked to convert lower bitrate sonce to a lower bitrate?

My iTunes Library only shows purchased songs from iTunes, i have music on my iPod from purchased and cds i have burnt from my computer, this all used to show up in my library but since having to have a new hard drive in my computer my library only shows purchsed songs. If i want to sync my iPod it tells me i will lose all exsisting music which i don't want to do, can anyone help?

- Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

- When all ths stuff is in your iTunes library, make a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and then right-clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Backup.
- Last, restore from that backup and then sync as necessary. -
I tried syncing entire music library to ipod. some albums were skipped. tried clicking and dragging but device does not get highlighted when i drag the album to the device. How can I sync album to ipod? the album is imported and not purchased thru itunes store.
Does it play in iTunes on the computer? What is the format of the album?

I have iTunes on 2 PCs, one running Windows 7 pro, the other running Windows 8. I also have 2 iPods which show up in Windows but not iTunes. Every time this happens I have to delete and download iTunes again, losing my library (nearly 10,000 tracks) in the process. I have had enough of Apple and their crap software as this problem has happened to me on previous computers as well and I think iTunes is crap. Is there some alternative I can use instead of iTunes to put music on my iPods?

When you say a new user ID, are you referring to your Apple ID that you use to make purchases in the iTunes Store, etc? Or are you talking about a new user account on the same Mac?

The issue is not related to the external drive. iTunes Match has difficulties matching tracks ripped fom CDs because they may differ slightly from the versions on sale in iTunes. You can try the match again. Otherwise do a search of this forum. There are already many discussions on this subject here that may help you.

You can use it as a removable disk but you won't be able to copy music to it.

If I select my user name as a storage location in Itunes, Itunes creates folders for artist name right in my user folder, instead of in my user/music folder.
